Organize a Team with Proper Skills
and Diversity (CENTER)
Problem:
 You are a member of an indigenous tribe in the
Amazon jungle. You have no contact with outside
people or influences. Your members … are dying
and you do not know why. By the end of the
year, at the current rate, your entire tribe will be
extinct.
Task:
 You are tasked with solving this humanitarian
crisis with a group of your fellow tribe members.
Go through the creative problem solving process
in order to save your village. Then decide how
you can ensure your village will continue to
survive and prosper.
 Generate Ideas of what could be killing your
village
 > Disease, Virus, Mosquito, Tiger, crocodile, Hyna
 Come up with ways you can test whether your
idea for your fellow villagers deaths are correct or
incorrect
 >1. Clean water, clean area, smoke, stop
breading of mosquito
 >2.Disease stops>3.ok
 After successfully experimenting and finding the
source of your village's problem(which ever idea you
came up with), decide as a group what is the most
important project the village must undertake to make
sure this terrible tragedy never happens again
 >Regular cleaning of area, stop breading of
mosquito, Wear full sleeve cloths
 Steps to take
Identify 5-10 skills –
technical, personal, communication, or otherwise
– that you will be looking for in others.
 Reflect on the process. Take 20 minutes to reflect
upon your collaboration asking yourself some of
these questions:
 What skills did you identify correctly that you
needed? What skills were needed?
 Were your Creative Styles synergistic, or
competitive?
 Did all the members of the team contribute? Would
a smaller team have worked? Did you need a larger
team?
 Keep track as you collaborate … do you use “Yes
but” more often, or “Yes and”?
 What difficulties did you have in your collaboration?
Reflections:
 What skills did you identify correctly that you needed?

What skills were needed?  Were your Creative Styles synergistic, or competitive?  Did all the members of the team contribute? Would a smaller team have worked? Did you need a larger team?  Keep track as you collaborate … do you use “Yes but” more often, or “Yes and”?  What difficulties did you have in your collaboration?
