Organ Donation Persuasive Essay
Crafting a persuasive essay on organ donation is no simple task; it requires a delicate balance of
emotional appeal, factual accuracy, and compelling arguments. The difficulty lies not only in
presenting a convincing case for organ donation but also in navigating the sensitive nature of the
topic. Tackling ethical concerns, societal misconceptions, and the emotional weight associated
with organ transplantation requires a nuanced approach.
Research becomes a critical component, demanding an in-depth exploration of medical facts,
statistical data, and ethical considerations. Understanding the intricacies of organ donation, from
the organ matching process to the impact on recipients' lives, is essential. Additionally, one must
delve into the challenges surrounding organ shortages and the potential benefits of increasing
donor participation.
The persuasive essay also necessitates a profound understanding of the audience. Effectively
connecting with readers' emotions while presenting a rational argument is a challenging balance
to strike. Crafting a compelling narrative that evokes empathy without veering into manipulation
is crucial.
Furthermore, addressing potential counterarguments adds another layer of complexity.
Acknowledging opposing viewpoints and skillfully refuting them requires careful consideration
to strengthen the overall persuasiveness of the essay.
In conclusion, composing a persuasive essay on organ donation demands a multifaceted approach
that combines factual accuracy, emotional appeal, and effective counterargumentation. The
difficulty lies not only in the depth of research required but also in the delicate balance of
addressing ethical concerns and emotional sensitivities associated with the topic.

Long Branch Case Study Essay
Long Branch, a tributary to Four Mile Run, drains heavily urbanized southeastern
part of Arlington County. The area is partially protected by a short levee on the left
bank near its confluence with Four Mile Run. Streams Tech personnel conducted a
limited detailed study to develop a HEC RAS model, establish water surface
elevations, delineate floodplain boundaries and assist the Arlington County in
evaluating floodplain management scenarios.
GIS data were obtained from Arlington County to support a limited detailed study of
the stream. Since no surveyed cross section data were available, the best available
topographic data (e.g. 2 ft contours, roads, etc) from the County were used to cut
cross sections in ArcGIS and provide necessary input ... Show more content on

team, Streams Tech personnel provided on call services to Southwest Florida Water
Management District (SWFWMD) under the Peer Review of Floodplain Results
contract. STI staff performed a peer review, which addressed the reasonableness of
modeling and results used to update the floodplain delineations as part of the District
s Cooperating Technical Partner (CTP) responsibility to provide accurate digital
flood maps. In the East Pasco Watershed, Pasco County partnered with SWFWMD in
this map modernization process.
Specific requirements of the project included a thorough review and comparison of
floodplain delineations with existing FEMA flood hazard zones, high water marks
and other flooding information, and appropriateness of the rainfall events to project
the floodplain
STI personnel also conducted detailed assessment and investigation of the Inter
Connected Pond Routing (ICPR) model with regard to the connectivity and flow
paths that have been conceptualized within the model. The review comments were
addressed in the final submittal, which included data for the Digital Flood Insurance

Governor Isham Harris
Governor Isham Harris of Tennessee was pivotal in the foundation of the Army of
Tennessee. In early 1861 Harris moved Tennessee away from the Union, and
established the command structure for the Provisional Army of Tennessee. The
Provisional Army was very well organized, and became the foundation of the Army of
Tennessee. When it was transferred to Confederate command, officially July 31,
1861, it contained 24 regiments, 10 artillery batteries, an Engineer Corps,
Quartermaster and Ordnance departments and an Ordnance Bureau .
As Confederate authority was not established in the state until July, until then Harris
had the responsibilities of defense. In May, the state army was still in the process of
being organized and was in no condition for such defense. The state militia had been
abolished in 1857, and as late as January 1861, Harris reported that no military
organization existed in the state. Thus the Governor would have to build a state army
to guard territory which had ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

attorney in Nashville before joining the 1st Tennessee Volunteer Infantry in the
Mexican American War. After the war he was elected attorney general of the Sixth
Judicial District, serving from 1847 to 1852. He was appointed brigadier general
of the middle division of the Provisional Army of Tennessee by Governor Isham
Harris on May 9, 1861. However, after the transfer of the army under Confederate
command, Foster was not offered a commission in the Confederate army. He
returned to Nashville to practice law, and was elected recorder of the city. He died,

Bill Of Rights Vs Anti Federalism
Federalism is the division of powers among local, state, and national governments.
Although, Anti Federalists had a lot of good points, Federalists belief in a strong
central government, limited powers, and no need for the Bill of Rights, is why it is
the better stance. Topics discussed in this essay will be the difference between
Federalismand Anti Federalism, each side s opinions on the Bill of Rights, and why
Federalism is the better side to be on.
For the ratification of the Constitution to happen, nine out of the thirteen states had to
approve of it. This divided the delegates into two separate groups, Federalists and Anti
Federalists. Federalists wanted a strong central government and immediate
ratification of the Constitution. Conversely, Anti Federalists wanted power in the
states, not the central government, It is true this government is limited to certain
objects, or to speak more properly, some small degree of power is still left to the
states, (Brutus I). Also, they favored the Articles of Confederationdue to the Bill of
Rights. On the other hand, Federalists disagreed with including the Bill of Rights
because of the possibility of it backfiring in future generations. ... Show more content

Why for instance, should it be said, that the liberty of the press shall not be
restrained, when no power is given by which restrictions may be imposed? (Federalist
No. 84). Federalists thought listing rights in the document could allow the
government to justify limiting a right because it does not appear in print. However,
without the promise of the Bill of Rights, many Anti Federalists would have not

How Does Shakespeare Present Elizabethan Women In
Macbeth
Throughout the play, Macbeth , Shakespeare continuously presents Lady Macbeth s
lust for power and control over her husband as being the driving force for the events
of the play. Lady Macbeth controls Macbeth through her constant emasculation
towards him. While trying to convince Macbeth to murder Duncan, Lady Macbeth
questions Macbeth s masculinity in Act I Scene VII, where she states Was the hope
drunk... and wakes it now, to look so green and pale . This shows how the
relationship of Macbeth and Lady Macbeth diverged from the stereotypes of
Elizabethan England. Elizabethan women were seen as being subservient to men,
and heavily reliant on their male counterparts, but the opposite is shown in the
relationship of Macbeth and Lady Macbeth.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The constant change in syllable stressing provides an aural representation of
Macbeth s deep inner turmoil following the events of his wife s suicide.
Furthermore, in Macbeth s first line of his soliloquy, she should have died hereafter ,
contains only seven syllables. The apparent lack of syllable within this line
immediately brings the audience s attention towards it. This is important as this line
is an uncommonly ambitious line, as it has antithetical meanings. Firstly, that Lady
Macbeth should have died later, so that there could be enough time to properly mourn
(mourning was an important event for a Jacobean audience). Secondly, that Lady
Macbeth would have died sooner or later anyway. The ambiguity does not make
Macbeth s feelings clear, but the line coupled with the signs of inner turmoil shows
that the first possibility is the more likely of the two. This is further supported by the
fact that following this Macbeth begins to question life itself, saying that time slowly
moves from tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow to the end of time itself. This
line holds a wistful tone through the use of polysyndeton and hendecasyllable. The
polysyndeton symbolises the evergoing nature of life and time. While the
hendecasyllable achieves a wistful tone, through the use of a soft/feminine ending to
the line. All these factors contribute to showing how deeply Macbeth misses his
Jackson s Life-Personal Narrative
In a land far away, many years ago, there live a brother and his sister. They lived in
a fairly small village. The brother s name was Jackson, and his sister s name was
Lilly. Jackson was the oldest by eight years. They live all alone because their
parents were taken from them in a horrendous accident. One day, Lilly became
very ill. Jackson got the village doctor, who was very experienced in the medical
field. He said that Lilly had caught something he hasn t ever seen before, however
he knew that within a month Lilly would die. Jackson was distort; he already lost
his parents, and he didn t want to lose his sister too. He also always told her he
would always protect her.
Jackson asked the doctor, What can I do to make my sister better? The doctor told
him, There are two goblets that are hidden deep within a cave about a week s
journey from the village. One of the goblets is for healing and the other one is for
death. The two are identical, however that is just one of the problems. In the cave,
lays different chambers, which has trials. If you wish to reach these goblets you
may need a team to aid you in your journey. Before he left, the doctor said that the
team was a team of explorers, he have heard of that were like no other.

Why Canada Is An International Reputation As A
Hospitable...
Introduction
Sector Definition
The term Accommodation can be defined in many ways, the Merriam Webster
Dictionary defines it as a place (such as a room in a hotel) where travelers can sleep
and find other services (2014), however, anyone that has ever travelled can tell you
that accommodation is much more than that.
The word itself comes from the Latin accommodare , meaning, to fit one thing to
another . It entered the English language in the 17th century and now describes a
thriving sector in an ever growing industry. Today, five hundred years later, the
accommodation sector has become one of the largest and fastest growing sectors in
the tourism industry. It is the largest group for employment following Food and
Beverage Services and offers a wide variety of career opportunities as well as
products and services.
Main Canadian Companies
Canada has an international reputation as a hospitable nation. With some of the most
beautiful sceneries in the world, 17 UNESCO World Heritage sites, and events, it
attracts over 16 million tourists a year; Canada is a booming tourist destination.
Much of the country s tourism is centered in the country s largest metropolitan areas
Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver and Ottawa well known for their multiculturalism and
diversity. Canada offers a wide range of options for travelers. The accommodation
industry is competitive, with many national and international brands operating within
the country.

The Role Of Women In Matthew LewisThe Monk And The
Italian
Matthew Lewis The Monk differs from Ann Radcliffe s The Italian in its portrayal of
women. Since both The Monk and The Italian feature prominent female religious
leaders, comparing the different ways The Monk and The Italian portray this specific
group of women sheds light on each author s attitude toward female agency. The
latter refers to the ability to exercise control in pursuing individual goals. Both The
Monkand The Italian depict tyrannical head nuns abusing their agency. However, the
horrific descriptions and exclusive focus on diabolical nuns in The Monk exudes a
pessimistic attitude towards female agency as invariably leading to catastrophes. By
contrast, The Italian reveals a more optimistic attitude towards female agency through
its more subtle depiction of the cruel nuns and its acknowledgement of benevolent
nuns, proposing that female agency can be channeled to good causes. In The Monk,
the Prioress abuses her agency in tyrannical ways. The Prioress imprisons women and
rules by fear, oppressing the women within her convent. She consider[s] [women of
rank] quitting the Convent, as a disgrace thrown upon it and will use every artifice
to avoid [that] (169). Not only does she imprison women, she also subdues them by
fear as seen by how Mother St. Ursula describes her fear that her every action [is]
observed, [her] every step [is] traced and that [she is] constantly surrounded by the
Superior s spies (273). The Prioress tyrannically condemns women like
Heart Of Darkness Essay
Joseph Conrad s novel Heart of Darkness uses character development and character
analysis to really tell the story of European colonization. Within Conrad s characters
one can find both racist and colonialist views, and it is the opinion, and the
interpretation of the reader which decides what Conrad is really trying to say in his
work.
Chinua Achebe, a well known writer, once gave a lecture at the University of
Massachusetts about Joseph Conrad s Heart of Darkness, entitled An image of
Africa: Racism in Conrad s Heart of Darkness. Throughout his essay, Achebe notes
how Conrad used Africa as a background only, and how he set Africa up as a foil to
Europe, (Achebe, p.251) while he also projects the image of Africa as the В‘other ...

Saravan said that Conrad perceived that native woman as a gorgeous, proud,
superb, magnificent, terrific, [and] fierce person whose human feelings [were] not
denied (Saravan, p.284). In comparing the two views, one must step back and
consider that both views are only interpretations on what Conrad may have
intended. Since no one can ever really know what his actual meanings were for
these two women being so similar (in their movements), and yet so different (in
their character), only individual explanation can be brought up. This in particular, is
what brings me to question both Achebe and Saravan s points. By reorganizing
Conrad s descriptive words, Saravan was able to propose that Conrad did not intend
for the mistress to be perceived as the savage counterpart (Achebe, p.255). Yet, at the
same time, both Saravan and Achebe each write about what they think to be the right
thing. It seems to me that Achebe was looking for racism in this short novel, and that
Saravan was so taken back by Achebe s accusations, the he himself, went and looked
for ways to defend Conrad. However, this particular shortcoming of the native
woman, is not the only one that Achebe finds. As stated earlier, communication
Environmental Impact Assessment(Eia)
TITLE Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), it s introduction, purpose, methods
of EIA, EIA conducted in India, Environmental Impact Statement(EIS).
INTRODUCTION : DEFINITION :
An environmental impact assessment (EIA) is an assessment of the possible positive
or negative impact that a proposed project may have on the environment, together
consisting of the environmental, social and economic aspects.
PURPOSE :
The purpose of the assessment is to ensure that decision makers consider the ensuing
environmental impacts when deciding whether to proceed with a project. The
International Association for Impact Assessment(IAIA) defines an environmental
impact assessment as the process of identifying, predicting, evaluating and ... Show

Some of the methods are GMP RAM, INOVA etc.[8] Fuzzy Arithmetic EIA methods
need specific parameters and variables to be measured to estimate values of impact
indicators. However many of the environment impact properties cannot be measured
on a scale e.g. landscape quality, lifestyle quality, social acceptance etc. and moreover
these indicators are very subjective. Thus to assess the impacts we may need to take
the help of information from similar EIAs, expert criteria, sensitivity of affected
population etc. To treat this information, which is generally inaccurate,
systematically, fuzzy arithmetic and approximate reasoning methods can be utilised.
This is called as a fuzzy logic approach.[9]
At the end of the project, an EIA should be followed by an audit. An EIA audit
evaluates the performance of an EIA by comparing actual impacts to those that were
predicted. The main objective of these audits is to make future EIAs more valid and
effective. The two main considerations are:
scientific to check the accuracy of predictions and explain errors. management to
assess the success of mitigation in reducing impacts.
Some people believe that audits be performed as a rigorous scientific testing of the
null hypotheses. While some believe in a simpler approach where you
The Pros And Cons Of Linux
In the beginning, Linus Torvalds, a young man who studied computer science at the
University of Helsinki, thought Unix like academic operating system should be
available for free and is an open source software.
Hence, he decided to do a better operating system which is free of charge and is an
open source software. The Linux kernel was first released in 1991, it is designed to
be used with GNU software. GNU developers eventually integrated their software
into Linux to create an operating system. Linux is everywhere so it is available in
many forms to suit many needs where from consumer oriented systems for home use
to distributions for use in specific industries. For instance, it is in our smartphone, our
Roku devices and even in our refrigerator. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Linux is a software on a computer that enables applications and the computer
operator to access any devices on the computer to perform its desired functions. To put
it simply, Linux is an operating system that enable to manage the communication
between software and hardware. The operating system (OS) relays instructions from
an application to, for example, the computer s processor. The processor performs the
instructed task, then send the results back to the application via the OS.
As we know, Linux is all free and easy to install. This zero cost of entry

philosophies, for instance, the freedom to study how the program works, the freedom
of running a program, the freedom to redistribute copies and also the freedom to
distribute copies of the modified versions to the others.
Linux is said everywhere because it is powering roughly 94% of worldwide
supercomputers, most of the servers powering the Internet, the majority financial

intentions of these documents. These guidelines give a template for the production of
cohesive reports that include the input of professionals and non professionals alike.
These reports are focused around the landscapeand encourage communal guidance
for landowners, county councils and even ordinary interested parties. LCA s give a

The first stage is the Identification of Physical Units i.e desk study. This stage looks
at the combination of landform and land cover. Landform looks at the product of
geological and geomorphological history which is achieved through O.S Contour
maps, water catchments, drainage surveys and geo logical and morphological studies.
Landcover looks at the physical attachments to the basic landscape such as human
settlements, rivers and vegetation. This information is found through satilette
imagery and Corine landuse maps. When focusing on an existing LCA such as
Meath it is important to note the main aspects within the topic landcover. This falls
into four categories for Co. Meath; river corridors/estuaries, lowland landscapes,
hills and upland areas and coastal landscapes. Within these headings we then look at
the site s sensitivity, importance and value. After this study you are left with a map
of the physical attributes of chosen your chosen County s LCA. This is the initial
step in understanding the character of an area and will act as the base for any further
study.
ID of Visual Units
This stage requires field work which enables visibility from the landscape. This is
key when realising the physical boundaries within a landscape whether it be a visual
barrier(i.e mountain range), a physical barrier(i.e water body) or the meeting of two
areas.

The Cost Of A Utopian Society
Resources are all around us, and we have an unlimited amount of information
available to us, but at what cost is this putting our society in harm s way. We live in
a society that values money above all, we re slaves to our devices, our government
is failing us, and we have no freedom when information is taken from us.
Technology has become so advanced that we expect everything to be at our
fingertips which have made us less appreciative of what we have today.
Humanity values a stronger attachment to materialistic possessions rather than our

Online Learning is Beneficial for High School Students
We live in a technology driven society and high school students have the opportunity
to partake in the online learning environment. There are several advantages in this
type of learning atmosphere. Online schooling is beneficial for high school students
because the students outshine in their studies beyond a traditional brick and mortar
setting. Interaction between students and teachers, as well as academic performance
is successful. The effect of student communications with content, peers, and

Students in the virtual learning environment develop a challenge with rigorous and
relevant assignments and assessments that are designed to meet today s new
standards of education. The online learning setting will allow the student to prepare
for college readiness and career preparedness. In addition, online schooling is
Internet based, and students have the capability to access their studies 24 7, which
allows flexibility for the student for a precise and personalized education. The
students are in the front row and have interaction with their instructors because they
are responsible for every lesson. Online education opportunities are becoming more
widespread because they give students a wider range of learning experiences than
they might have in the traditional brick and mortar classroom.
Interaction is an essential element of online learning among the students and teachers.
When a student utilizes e mails, instant chat, or a phone call with their professor, this
can smooth the progress of significant, profound education and learning experience.
Some North Carolina Virtual Public Schools teachers actually report having more
contact with students online than in the regular classrooms, since students may feel
more comfortable asking question via e mail than voicing them in class (Oliver,
Patel, Keilman, 2009, p 41). The online environment is of course Internet based and
Human Resource Management And An Organization Essay
Human resource management is a tool in an organization, which focuses on the
recruitment, management, and giving direction to the people who work in the
organization. Human resource management is a vital component, which deals with
issues concerned with people. Such issues include, hiring, performance management,
developmental issues, safety, staff welfare, benefits and staff motivation. An
organization cannot create a group of professional working staff without better
human resources(Stewart, Brown, 2012, 65). The human resource managementhas a
wide variety of functions in an organization. The first function is to recruit and train
new staff members. An organization needs to update its staff members after a series
of time to enhance better performance. The human resource management department
owns the responsibility of coming up with strategies and plans on how to recruit new
staff members. They identify the best criteria to be used during recruitmentand design
questions to be used during interviews. Human resource management department sets

Han and Roman Dynasty View on Technology
After studying the provided documents (#1 8) its come to my understanding that both
the Han and Roman empires thought of technology as useful and somewhat
revolutionary, but both of them had somewhat different feelings of it. The Han
dynasties attitude toward technology was that they thought it was very benefical, and
they admired it. The reason this was because they though it to be very helpful in
agriculture and construction purposes. Evidence of the positive effects of this can be
seen in Document 4: History of the Early Han Dynastywhich tells of a governer of
Nanynay and as the very generous and loving person he was his policies also

In Document 5 written but Ciero and upper class political leader On Duty he finds
that working in a workshop is not only degrading but he doesn t find it
enlightening or in other words he thinks that it s useless. Ciero finds no use for
technology, and that may be beacuse of his high placing in society he s not in
touch with the world of craftsmen whatsoever so there is of course no use for it to
him. Another example of a high class official having a negative view was in 7, like
stated before Seneca believed that tools were useless he an adviser to Emperor
Nero so that could be a reason why his views were different. The lower ranking
people, or commoners can only use tools so that s why I believe that they were so
grateful for the technology they were given ot provided with. The upper class people
only use the finished poduct they don t know the importance of tools. The Roman
and Han both found technoloy very useful and an everyday neccessary. Although the
Han viewed the technology verey beneficial for their agriculture and praised the
advanced tools and their inventors and well as their own work. The Romans only
appreciated the product of technology and its design and craftmeship. Both
civilizations technology was very imortant and helped to advance both that can still
be seen in China today.

Summary Of Simone De Beauvoir
In the first chapter Simone de Beauvoir discusses her beliefs on feminism. De
Beauvoir emerged during the first wave of feminism and she believed that women
were one hundred percent equal to men. She states, He is the Subject, he is the
Absolute she is the other (Schneir 8). De Beauvoir implies that what makes a man
masculine is all the qualities he possesses that a female is supposed to lack. Thus,
she did not want to do anything that would make her fit into the category of other .
She did not want to have a child, live with her spouse, etc. She believed that if you
succumb to the stereotypes that society has placed on women then you were
comfortable with being defined as the other . The first sketch goes well with De
Beauvoir s beliefs.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She discusses women s unhappiness, which is known as the problem with no name .
While the first wave of feminism was focused on equal rights, higher education, and
careers the second wave of feminism was focused on sexuality, reproductive rights,
etc. Freidan describes the life of white rich women. Their only goal was to become
wives and have babies because they wanted to make their husbands happy. However,
they were unhappy because they did not have a chance to pursue their own dreams
and maintain a happy family. Because women were often viewed as the other they
struggled with identity issues and they believed that a good woman was a perfect wife
and mother. The second sketch goes perfect with this because in the video we can
see that the lady is infatuated with her husband. He is out working and instead of
her pursing her dreams she is constantly thinking about him. She is thinking about
ways to make him happy and how to be the perfect wife. She is forgetting how to
be herself but because she believes there is a certain type of women she is supposed
to be she does not care. Everyone expects her to be happy but the truth is she is
unhappy and would like to work towards her own

Marketing Strategy: Target Market(s) Positioning
The Target Marketing is generalizing segment or segments to sell a product and/or
service. Companies use target marketing to reach the consumer and find certain
marketing factors, which allow the company to develop a marketing plan (Prdic,
2016). Target markets are broken down just like segmentation but more specific such
as: the age, lifestyle, and buyer powers. Target market is a key element in a market
plan. Companies can determine the factors of a market plan from a target market
such as: price, promotion, and distribution.
Product/Service Overview and Strategies to Consider
Marketers try to understand the consumer buyer s behavior by using the four p s of
marketing which are: price, place, promotion, and product (Hilman Kaliappen, 2015).
All of these inputs lead to the
Senior Loneliness
Not surprisingly, senior loneliness is all too common. Major life changes such as
retiring, loss of family and friends, and giving up the keys when it s no longer safe
to drive often result in social isolation. The effects are more serious than you might
think, ranging anywhere from faster progression of cancer to a heightened risk of
suicide (Cascade Companion Care, April 13). There is a need for agencies such as
Alpine Home Care for the purpose of creating an environment where the geriatric
population has the control and ability to lead a meaningful, independent life.
Homecare services differ from facility based options, which include nursing homes,
assisted living communities, and adult day cares. These elderly care options all
have unique benefits, however, at home care is often the preferred choice for
seniors who wish to age in place in their own home (Griswold Home Care, n.d.).
Unfortunately, the effects of aging can not yet be reversed, but the ability to improve
quality of life does exists.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
No one patient is the same, and it becomes the nurse s responsibility to act as a patient
advocate. Working with a geriatric woman made me realize the significance that
mere presence can play in a patient s life. After all, nurses have the ability to be
remembered long after a patient has left their care, and it is for this reason that
patient and family centered care is of utmost importance. Care is based on continuous
health relationships, and customized according to the patient s needs and values
(Finkelman Kenner, 2016, p. 272). In order to make both the patient and their family
feel open to communication and to instill trust in our decisions as healthcare
providers, compassion and kindness must be key factors in the care of each and
every patient. The patient should be the source of
Thesis For Lakota Drought
Lakota Drought: Are Dams Key to Resolving Soil Instability? For decades the
Lakota tribe on the South Dakota plains had been living comfortably off of the
lush land. They used the soil s nutrients and the fresh rain water to plant their crops
and help them grow. They practiced their customs and sang their songs on the
immense amount of land that they had. The land was as beautiful as ever and
mother earth was healthy. Over the years as times changed, the climate did as well.
Fifteen years of on and off again drought has plagued the Cheyenne River
Reservation of South Dakota and has left it almost impossible for the soil to absorb
water. In a response to climate change, one Lakota family has organized a grassroots
group to start a dam building... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to an online source The Lakota Indians are a tribal Native American group
that resides in the northern part of the United States. Native Americans are
considered the first nation of North America. Although a large number of Indians
have immersed themselves into American culture, several tribal groups carry out
their daily affairs on Indian reservations . Many members from the tribe have left
to other locations and have adapted to a new lifestyle, meanwhile, others have
decided to stay in its original spot. One Lakota family decided to stay even though
life on the Cheyenne River Reservation hasn t always been that great. The soil used
to be rich and healthy. The rain used to provide necessary resources for survival.
However, due to climate change this created a major complication for the tribe.
Lately the land is not a fertile as it once was due to an inconsistent drought within
the past fifteen years. Although the hills look lush and green, it is a facade
because they re not really what they appear to be. Within recent months it has
rained heavily, but the soil is all dried up and is incapable of absorbing the water.
[T]he dry ground was unable to absorb the large quantities of rain, which ran off
into flooded creeks down the Missouri River, without ever replenishing the aquifer.
As a result of this, the soil cannot retain rich nutrients from the rainwater and this
causes the soil to dry up. This is a worrisome issue for current Lakota people living
on the land because they are not able to grow crops or drink fresh water from the
aquifer. They must limit their water consumption and plant their crops elsewhere.
The current natives are unable to truly live off of the land like their people once
did. In response to this problem, a Lakota family has started a grassroots group
called, Mni, to start a water project. One of the grassroots groups

The Arbi Harnet Movement In The United States
Social movements are the essence of human rebellion for justice. From Malcolm X
to Deray in Baltimore, social movements play a huge part in how we get our voice
across to the elite. Even though some sociologists like Doug McAdam believe social
movements alone aren t sufficient to generate a successful result(McAdam,1982).
Others believe that social movements play a big role on how we pursue and impact
societal change. For instance, MADD Mothers against Drunk Driving is a successful
campaign that started with social changeand reduced drunk driving by advocating for
change in their own backyard. MLK, Rosa parks, Malcolm X all played a huge role
in getting rid of discrimination and racial division by way of social movement. From

they use Robo calls to stage mass stay homes. Instead of protesting in the streets they

President Andrew Jackson Should Stay On The 20 Dollar
Bill
America has been shaped and reshaped in various instances throughout its history;
some of the men that played vital roles in achieving the status we now possess
have been immortalized in our currency. President Andrew Jackson, is one of the
few American leaders that was chosen to live on forever; however, many now argue
whether or not Jackson truly deserves the honor to be represented in the 20 dollar
bill arguing that there are other better qualified people to take his place; an example
being Harriet Tubman. I believe that President Andrew Jacksonshould stay on the 20
dollar bill. Although many of his personal beliefs contradict many of our current
beliefs and values, we shouldn t judge him on them; rather, we should judge
President Jackson on his actions as a president and how he impacted the nation as a
leader. Thanks to the hard decisions that President Jackson had to take America was
able to advance the way it did. We wouldn t be the United Statesof America we are
today without President Jackson. The son of Irish immigrants, Jackson started
from near to nothing and worked his way up just like the rest of us. His mother
was widowed while pregnant with him. The Revolutionary War that soon followed,
was very bloody in the rather wild and poor country where they lived, and Jackson
at 13 years, joined a regiment. Captured by the British, he was wounded and nearly
killed by a sword for not polishing a British officer s boots. He and his brother,

Breastfeeding Barriers
Although breastfeeding provides various benefits to mothers and their infants, there
are various social and cultural factors that influence a mother s decision to exclusively
breastfeed their infant. Purdy (2010) concludes that some evidence suggest that many
mothers abandon the idea of breastfeeding in order to comply with cultural and
societal demands. This presents an ethical predicament, as these aspects can create
barriers in preventing mothers from breastfeedingdue to different pressures. One
major barrier that can greatly affect a woman s decision to breastfeed is a lack of
social support from family and peers. Typically, a woman would depend on her own
mother, close relatives, and friends whether they have breastfed before for

The Impact of Television on the Film Industry
The advent of television and television shows may have come long after film, but it
enhanced film production almost instantly. Television naturally derived from early
film since each uses basically the same medium: the motion picture camera. Since
film had already set a base in the industry and mastered the new techniques and
technology of cinematography, televisionhad the opportunity to learn from film?s
mistakes and advance itself quickly. For this reason, television evolved very rapidly
and was able to develop its own technology and techniques separate from film. The
concept of television became so popular and gained so much success that Hollywood
began experimenting with the technology and techniques television had brought
about. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The result was the live programming, with each show airing 52 weeks of the year,
that defined the medium s Golden Age. Television?s Golden Age consisted mainly of
variety shows because of their similarity to radio programs. As the nation s economy
grew and the population expanded, television and advertising executives turned to
dramatic shows as a programming strategy to elevate the status of television and to
attract the growing and increasingly important suburban family audience. Golden age
dramas quickly became the ideal marketing vehicle for major U.S. corporations
seeking to display their products favorably before a national audience.
Thus, in the 1960 s, the sitcom developed. Situation Comedies followed families
experiencing common, everyday situations but adding humor to. Sitcoms gained
popularity quickly and were unique to television. The most significant contributor to
early television was Desi Arnaz with his sitcom I Love Lucy. The success of I Love
Lucy is unparalleled in the history of television. The combination of Arnaz?s
business skills and his wife Lucille Ball?s comedic talent swept the nation. The
cinematic innovations of the I Love Lucy show made it very popular among
producers. Arnaz made the decision to film it, rather than do it live, making it
possible to have a high quality print of each episode available for endless re
broadcasts, as opposed to the poor quality kinescopes of live shows.
Body Image And Dissatisfaction Of The Thin Ideal
Body Image and Dissatisfaction The media s interpretation of the thin ideal has
caused people to modify their personal perception of body image, which is defined
as the internal representation of one s own outer appearance reflecting physical and
perceptual dimensions (Borzekowski; Bayer). This notion is akin with self esteem
and self concept possibly resulting in individuals having an inadequate body imageas
well as low self esteem.
The term body dissatisfaction is defined as a negative subjective perception of one s
own self image. According to psychologists Grabe, Hyde, and Ward approximately
50% of women who do or do not suffer from an eating disorder have feelings of
body dissatisfaction (2008). People who have unrealistic expectations of their own
body image are also at a greater risk of being discontent with their body because of
the sustained depiction of the thin ideal by the media. Body dissatisfaction is also
directly correlated with critical physical and heath problems because of the negative
affect eating disorders have on people (Grabe; Hyde; Ward, 2008).
Trends The media has induced society to accept that being thin is the quintessential
embodiment of beauty that everyone should consider vital in physical
attractiveness. This results in a conflict of interest amidst being the ideal body
image verses being considered fat . Those who are skinny ordinarily have a more
superior prestige in social class ranking in comparison to
The Moral Principles Which Control An Individual s
Behaviour
Ethics is the name for the moral principles which control an individual s behaviour.
Ethics is also known as moral philosophy, which is the discipline concerned with
what is morally right and wrong. In my assignment I will look into how a Utilitarian
and a Kantian react to a specific scenario, seeing how both perspectives differ and
deciding which one is better in the given scenario. Utilitarianismis the theory in
normative ethicsthat believes the best action is the one which provides the most
happiness. This is known as the Greatest Happiness Principle, the belief that the less
pain an act produces, the more morally praiseworthy that action will be. Kantianism
on the other hand is the belief of Emmanuel Kant, asserting that the act... Show more

The second is the Hedonic Principle, which is the belief that not all pleasures are of
the same worth as you have bodily pleasures, intellectual pleasures and aesthetic
pleasures. Finally is the Equity Principle, which believes each individuals
happiness is equal when making a decision, nobody s happiness is more important
than anyone else s. Utilitarian could act several ways in this situation depending on
what type of utilitarian they were. The basis of most utilitarian s decisions is to
provide the most happiness and least pain so they would assess whether the
happiness of the women outweighs the unhappiness of the shop keeper. An act
utilitarian believes in assessing individual situations when making a decision, so in
this case an act utilitarian would want to know the background of the women. By
assessing the situation an act utilitarian could find out that the women possibly
stole because she couldn t afford baby food and desperately needed it for her baby
meaning looking at it from an act utilitarian point of view is effective in producing
the best outcome this woman and her baby which would most definitely outweigh
the unhappiness of the shopkeeper. So an act utilitarian would be likely to not tell as
they know the situation of the women and she had to steal for the wellbeing of her
baby. A rule utilitarian believes in following general
Film Techniques In The Quiet American
The Quiet American uses a wide range of film techniques to tell a compelling and
enjoyable narrative, even the dialogue is a little bit choppy at times. In retrospect,
some of these film techniques were highly successful while others were incredibly
detrimental to the motion picture. Perhaps the most noticeable filmtechnique the
movie used, and therefore perhaps the most debatable, is the immense
foreshadowing that takes place at the beginning of the movie. In the first five
minutes of the film, the audience already knows that one of the main characters
will be stabbed to death. Although this does not make reaching the end of the
movie impossible, the movie would have no doubtingly had a much greater
hangover effect had Pyle s death been a complete surprise. On the flipside, the
scenes in The Quiet American were diverse and well produced. For example, the
explosions in the movie did not feel out of place (AKA Michael Bay ish). Also, there
is a huge difference between the battlefields of the north compared to Saigon in the
south. As a result, the movie does an excellent job of encapsulating the massive
difference between the north s brutality and the south s beauty.... Show more content

the battle was a major turning point against the French, but I do not remember there

severely defeated as the North celebrated a major victory. Nevertheless, the movie s
focus seemed to be more about the motives of the individual characters and what they
represented by their actions rather than historical accuracy. In contrast, Indochine

Why The Government Should Receive Welfare
Most people think welfare recipients are jobless individuals that receive benefits
from the government but in fact they are required to be employed to receive welfare.
Welfare recipients may depend on the government to help make ends meet because
they may not have all their necessities met on their own. For this reason the
governmentshould provide programs that promote self sufficiency among welfare
recipients.
The purpose of welfare is to give financial support to the families in need. Welfare
reform can refer to the law passed in 1996 The Personal Responsibility and Work
Opportunity Reconciliation Act (PRWORA) which generally are the changes in the
U.S welfare system over time (104 congress 110 193). The Personal Responsibility

Ideally not everyone can commit to welfare to work programs, but this doesn t
mean they deserve to fend for themselves. It only makes sense for families who
work to receive enough money to support themselves. Michele Gilman divulged
how stagnant the wages for lower income families are she wrote, American
workers are among the most productive in the world, but over the last 40 years the
bottom half of income earners have seen no income growth. As a result since
1973, worker productivity has grown . . . almost six times faster than wages
(Gilman 2018). Without raising the minimum wage there will be the same
problems for posterity in the U.S. Michelle also expresses the problems in wages
and how they affect housing she asserts, There are 11 million renter households
paying more than half their income on housing. And there is no county . . . in
America where a minimum wage worker can afford a two bedroom home. Still,
only 1 in 4 . . . eligible households receive any form of government housing
assistance (Gilman 2018). Housing cost steadily increase yet the amount wages that
are being paid out to the lower working class stays constant, if this continues the
basic necessities are going to become too unaffordable and more people are going to
need government assistance. It is also made evident that many not all people living in
poverty gain welfare

Black Sails Film Analysis
Black Sails takes place about 20 years before Treasure Island, during a period
historically called the Golden Age of Piracy. From the 1650s to the 1730s pirates
did not only roam the caribbean islands, but also cruised up and down the coasts of
North America, Africa, and Europe. Modern day films such as Black Sails, Pirates
of the Caribbean, and Blackbeard portray not necessarily the accuracy of pirate life,
but do show audiences the importance of piracyand its personage, includes their
defiance against most of their alliances, which often were made with either other
ships, merchants, or even other nations.
Pirates would attack pretty much what ever ships they wanted to. In doing so, they
wreaked havoc upon the emerging economic system. By stealing whatever they
wanted from almost any ships, they disrupted trade routes and created a crisis within
the trade system of the Atlantic. While they were willing participants in the exchange

female pirates. Anne, an Irish woman that wanted a life of crime on the high seas is
also the only pirate during this time that escaped being hung. Along with Anne was
her lover, the famous pirate Calico Jack, also known as Jack Rackham. Rackham
came up with the skull and crossbones flag that is associated with piracy and was
famous for wearing a suit of expensive fabric, which was illegal for the lower
classes to wear. He was the quartermaster for a time to the historically famous
Captain Charles Vane and succeeded him as captain eventually. Vane associated with
Edward Low, the famous pirate who not only killed, plundered, and raped, but
tortured all of his victims. His famous plundering tactics were well known, and he

CD ROM Essay
Evaluation My promotional CD ROM compares almost perfectly to my original
plans. I feel like this was a strength of my CD ROM as it allowed me to know
exactly what had to go onto each screen and in turn allowed me to manage my time
well. For example, in my storyboard, my home page was supposed to have a
Welcome to Wellington gif title, my 8 buttons, 3 pictures and a brief introductory
paragraph. In my storyboard I also stated the exact layout, font size and font style.
In comparison, my actual CD ROM s home page followed this layout exactly. My
history page was supposed to have a gif title, my 8 buttons, 3 pictures and a
paragraph introducing students to the subject. Similarly, my actual history page
within my CD ROM used this same exact... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Similarly, in my actual Interactive CD ROM on Flash I used the exact same layout.
Is the product fit for purpose? There are many reasons proving that my product is
fit for purpose. Some of these include: I included a bibliography in order to adhere
to the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act. The reasoning for making a
Bibliography is to give credit to all of the author s work that I used throughout my
CD ROM. Failure to include all sources of information in my bibliography can
result in a failing of the unit due to Plagiarism. I also followed the Performing Rights
Society legislation by paying ВЈ102.13 for the release of my promotional CD ROM.
Another way in which my promotional CD ROM is fit for purpose is due to the
fact that I got a film classification for my video from the British Board of Film
Classification. I think this is a strength of my product as it makes the product legal
and allows me to release it to the public. Are you happy with the technical skills
you gained? Overall, I am extremely happy with the skills I required during the
making of my interactive CD ROM. Some of the skills that I feel I have developed
are: my planning skills, my coding skills, my ability to make a product from
scratch, team working skills, filming skills and I think that I gained extremely
overall due to this part of the course. I have also developed my Photoshop and Flash
skills. Do you feel a better
Community Volunteering
I have made a difference in my community by volunteering for many organizations.
To start, I have participated in the Lisbon Community Band and provided musical
entertainment for the community to enjoy free of charge. Each year, my town band
has a winter and summer concert. These concerts include a new set of songs for the
communityto hear. Musicrelaxes the mind and is believed to have certain healing
properties. I have been in my town s community band for eight years now and I
plan to be a member for as long as I can. The community band is a valuable and
necessary aspect of my community. I also have participated in my town s Boy Scout
Troop in the past, helping out individuals in the community, raking leaves in their
yards, and performing... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These were beneficial to not just the community, but to anyone who was set to
receive blood transfusions for medical reasons. As a Boy Scout, we also aided
other organizations, such as the Lisbon Historical Society. Furthermore, my troop
assisted in running events, such as my town s fall festival. My community extends
to other parts of the state, as I have volunteered for organizations in nearby towns.
One such organization that I volunteer at is the Lawrence and Memorial Hospital
in New London. I volunteer in the summers in the Lawrence and Memorial Lobby
shop gift shop. I feel I am able to make a difference in the life of those who come
into the gift shop. Specifically, I attempt to bring smiles to the faces of the
customers and make their experience in the gift shop enjoyable. Another
organization I volunteer for is the Slater Library in Jewett City. One summer I
developed a reading and science experiment program that lasted for many weeks and
motivated children to read, as well as become interested in the sciences. Through the
creation of this program, I have observed children having a great time performing
these science experiments while being motivated to read challenging books. Overall,
I believe I have made a significant impact on my community and I will continue to
contribute my town in the
Evaluating Commercial Property
As a landlord, you own commercial property in order to make money, right? In order
to make money on your commercial property, you need to find the best tenants to rent
your property.
Commercial Property
Briefly, commercial property is often thought of as the strip malls, industrial business
complexes, office spaces where people work and shop. But commercial property also
can refer to private residences the houses, condominiums, and apartments. It doesn t
matter which type of commercial property (or properties) you own, you still need to
have qualified renters occupying your properties.
Evaluating a good commercial property tenant
Thanks to some creative advertising, you have some possible renter candidates for
your commercial property. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the business is newly formed, the directors should provide a personal guarantee for
the entity named on the lease.
The ability to provide a 3 6 month rent deposit in advance.
Ask for personal information to complete a credit check if the prospective tenant is
a new business. A credit check can indicate the candidate s ability to pay on time,
has declared bankruptcy, or has the ability to pay the lease if the business closes.
Evaluate the stability of the business. Look at the debts and creditors, the sales
numbers, and if prior bankruptcy has been filed.
Assess risk:
Does the candidate have all required licenses and comply with applicable laws
regarding that business.
What is the purpose of the tenant s business?
Use social media to pick up on any positive or negative chatter about the company. An
unusually high level of negative comments about the business (or individuals) may be
a red flag about the reliability of the business as your tenant. Continue investigating it,
if possible.
Consider hiring a professional tenant screening company to perform criminal
searches, evictions, check references, bankruptcies and liens, and run the credit
Direct Mail s Marketing Strategy
The competition in your industry is fierce and you need to continually find
innovative new ways for presenting promotional messages to your target market
audience. Your marketing practices need to serve a dual purpose of capturing the
attention of that audience while also giving you a competitive advantage that makes
you stand out in the crowd in the process. One way to accomplish this goal is by
combining powerful marketingwords with a direct mail campaign.
Direct mail campaigns provide you with several opportunities to make an entrance
into a new industry market segment or increase sales revenue with your current
customer base. You do this by creating postcards, newsletters, brochures, catalogs and
other print material that contain a promotional message and a call to action that
prompts consumers to take further action with your company. Each of these
promotional pieces are available in different textures, sizes and style ... Show more

As consumers come in contact with your direct mail piece, an emotional connection
forms with your company. Seeing another advertisement for your company at a later
point creates a mental recognition of the direct mail piece arriving in the mailbox
earlier. Now consumers have a valid connection to your company and will take
another look at the promotional message on that direct mail piece.
That connection is one of the reasons you need to make a direct mail practices part
of your content marketing campaign. You can easily integrate elements of direct mail
into the digital aspects of a content marketing campaign. Create a personalized URL
on a direct mail piece by including a QR code that consumers can scan with their
smartphone. Scanning that code takes consumers to a website or landing page that
you design specifically for the current content marketing
Medical Quality Hospital Case Study
The change process that was implemented using the Kurt Lewin Change theory. The
Kurt Lewin change theory implements the three step method of unfreeze, change, and
freeze. A summary of the change theory allows the manager or change agent an idea
of what implementing change means when dealing with people. The model provides
guidance on how to go about getting people to change: a manager will implement
new processes and re assign tasks, but change will only be effective if the people
involved embrace it and help putting it into practice it. Prior to implementing the
change process at the Medical Quality Hospital had 1,000 medical errors and 100
deaths related to medical errors which cost the hospital $1.2 million dollars. The name

Clothes In The Canterbury Tales
Chaucer does an amazing job at bringing out the true nature of people based on their
appearances and attitudes. He does this by going into detail about the clothes they
wear or the way they present themselves to others. The three pilgrims that he
describes in great detail are the Knight, the Merchant, and the Sailor. Their clothes
and attitudes greatly express their true inner natures.
The Knight, while very well known and respected for his accomplishments, decided
to hold himself to the same esteem as a meekly maid. His humbleness was also
shown through his attitude. ...He never yet had any vileness said, in all his life, to
whatsoever wight. He was a truly perfect, gentle knight. (Chaucer Lines 70 72) His
armor that he wore expressed his love for chivalry, truth, honor, and freedom. The
Knight was respected and strong based on his appearance, but if you were to
examine him based upon his attitude and personality you would find him to be
described as humble and kind.
The Merchant held himself very high in his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

He wears beaten down clothes that fall at the knees and worries not about it. He
also seems dangerous as he wears a dagger attached to a rope and hung around his
neck. His face is burned to a shade of brown from all his hard work upon his ship in
the harsh sun. He is known to frequent havens around the world which is how
people recognize who he is. He is also described to be both good and bad. And
certainly he was a good fellow. Full many a draught of wine he d drawn, I trow, of
Bordeaux vintage, while the trader slept. Nice conscience was a thing he never kept.
If that he fought and got the upper hand, by water he sent them home to every land.
(Chaucer Lines 395 400) The Sailor s true inner nature is described to be somewhat
poor, but still is known to

  • 1. Organ Donation Persuasive Essay Crafting a persuasive essay on organ donation is no simple task; it requires a delicate balance of emotional appeal, factual accuracy, and compelling arguments. The difficulty lies not only in presenting a convincing case for organ donation but also in navigating the sensitive nature of the topic. Tackling ethical concerns, societal misconceptions, and the emotional weight associated with organ transplantation requires a nuanced approach. Research becomes a critical component, demanding an in-depth exploration of medical facts, statistical data, and ethical considerations. Understanding the intricacies of organ donation, from the organ matching process to the impact on recipients' lives, is essential. The Provisional Army was very well organized, and became the foundation of the Army of Tennessee. When it was transferred to Confederate command, officially July 31, 1861, it contained 24 regiments, 10 artillery batteries, an Engineer Corps, Quartermaster and Ordnance departments and an Ordnance Bureau . As Confederate authority was not established in the state until July, until then Harris had the responsibilities of defense. In May, the state army was still in the process of being organized and was in no condition for such defense. The state militia had been abolished in 1857, and as late as January 1861, Harris reported that no military organization existed in the state. Although, Anti Federalists had a lot of good points, Federalists belief in a strong central government, limited powers, and no need for the Bill of Rights, is why it is the better stance. Topics discussed in this essay will be the difference between Federalismand Anti Federalism, each side s opinions on the Bill of Rights, and why Federalism is the better side to be on. For the ratification of the Constitution to happen, nine out of the thirteen states had to approve of it. This divided the delegates into two separate groups, Federalists and Anti Federalists. Federalists wanted a strong central government and immediate ratification of the Constitution. Conversely, Anti Federalists wanted power in the states, not the central government, It is true this government is limited to certain objects, or to speak more properly, some small degree of power is still left to the states, (Brutus I). • 5. How Does Shakespeare Present Elizabethan Women In Macbeth Throughout the play, Macbeth , Shakespeare continuously presents Lady Macbeth s lust for power and control over her husband as being the driving force for the events of the play. Lady Macbeth controls Macbeth through her constant emasculation towards him. While trying to convince Macbeth to murder Duncan, Lady Macbeth questions Macbeth s masculinity in Act I Scene VII, where she states Was the hope drunk... and wakes it now, to look so green and pale . This shows how the relationship of Macbeth and Lady Macbeth diverged from the stereotypes of Elizabethan England. Elizabethan women were seen as being subservient to men, and heavily reliant on their male counterparts, but the opposite is shown in the relationship of Macbeth and Lady Macbeth.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The constant change in syllable stressing provides an aural representation of Macbeth s deep inner turmoil following the events of his wife s suicide. Furthermore, in Macbeth s first line of his soliloquy, she should have died hereafter , contains only seven syllables. The apparent lack of syllable within this line immediately brings the audience s attention towards it. This is important as this line is an uncommonly ambitious line, as it has antithetical meanings. Firstly, that Lady Macbeth should have died later, so that there could be enough time to properly mourn (mourning was an important event for a Jacobean audience). Secondly, that Lady Macbeth would have died sooner or later anyway. The ambiguity does not make Macbeth s feelings clear, but the line coupled with the signs of inner turmoil shows that the first possibility is the more likely of the two. This is further supported by the fact that following this Macbeth begins to question life itself, saying that time slowly moves from tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow to the end of time itself. This line holds a wistful tone through the use of polysyndeton and hendecasyllable. The polysyndeton symbolises the evergoing nature of life and time. While the hendecasyllable achieves a wistful tone, through the use of a soft/feminine ending to the line. All these factors contribute to showing how deeply Macbeth misses his

Since both The Monk and The Italian feature prominent female religious leaders, comparing the different ways The Monk and The Italian portray this specific group of women sheds light on each author s attitude toward female agency. The latter refers to the ability to exercise control in pursuing individual goals. Both The Monkand The Italian depict tyrannical head nuns abusing their agency. However, the horrific descriptions and exclusive focus on diabolical nuns in The Monk exudes a pessimistic attitude towards female agency as invariably leading to catastrophes. By contrast, The Italian reveals a more optimistic attitude towards female agency through its more subtle depiction of the cruel nuns and its acknowledgement of benevolent nuns, proposing that female agency can be channeled to good causes. In The Monk, the Prioress abuses her agency in tyrannical ways. The Prioress imprisons women and rules by fear, oppressing the women within her convent. She consider[s] [women of rank] quitting the Convent, as a disgrace thrown upon it and will use every artifice to avoid [that] (169). Not only does she imprison women, she also subdues them by fear as seen by how Mother St. Ursula describes her fear that her every action [is] observed, [her] every step [is] traced and that [she is] constantly surrounded by the Superior s spies (273). The Prioress tyrannically condemns women like

Within Conrad s characters one can find both racist and colonialist views, and it is the opinion, and the interpretation of the reader which decides what Conrad is really trying to say in his work. Chinua Achebe, a well known writer, once gave a lecture at the University of Massachusetts about Joseph Conrad s Heart of Darkness, entitled An image of Africa: Racism in Conrad s Heart of Darkness. In comparing the two views, one must step back and consider that both views are only interpretations on what Conrad may have intended. Since no one can ever really know what his actual meanings were for these two women being so similar (in their movements), and yet so different (in their character), only individual explanation can be brought up. This in particular, is what brings me to question both Achebe and Saravan s points. By reorganizing Conrad s descriptive words, Saravan was able to propose that Conrad did not intend for the mistress to be perceived as the savage counterpart (Achebe, p.255). Yet, at the same time, both Saravan and Achebe each write about what they think to be the right thing. It seems to me that Achebe was looking for racism in this short novel, and that Saravan was so taken back by Achebe s accusations, the he himself, went and looked for ways to defend Conrad. However, this particular shortcoming of the native woman, is not the only one that Achebe finds. As stated earlier, communication

Some of the methods are GMP RAM, INOVA etc.[8] Fuzzy Arithmetic EIA methods need specific parameters and variables to be measured to estimate values of impact indicators. However many of the environment impact properties cannot be measured on a scale e.g. landscape quality, lifestyle quality, social acceptance etc. and moreover these indicators are very subjective. Thus to assess the impacts we may need to take the help of information from similar EIAs, expert criteria, sensitivity of affected population etc. To treat this information, which is generally inaccurate, systematically, fuzzy arithmetic and approximate reasoning methods can be utilised. This is called as a fuzzy logic approach.[9] At the end of the project, an EIA should be followed by an audit. An EIA audit evaluates the performance of an EIA by comparing actual impacts to those that were predicted. The main objective of these audits is to make future EIAs more valid and effective. The two main considerations are: scientific to check the accuracy of predictions and explain errors. management to assess the success of mitigation in reducing impacts. Some people believe that audits be performed as a rigorous scientific testing of the null hypotheses. While some believe in a simpler approach where you

Major life changes such as retiring, loss of family and friends, and giving up the keys when it s no longer safe to drive often result in social isolation. The effects are more serious than you might think, ranging anywhere from faster progression of cancer to a heightened risk of suicide (Cascade Companion Care, April 13). There is a need for agencies such as Alpine Home Care for the purpose of creating an environment where the geriatric population has the control and ability to lead a meaningful, independent life. Homecare services differ from facility based options, which include nursing homes, assisted living communities, and adult day cares. These elderly care options all have unique benefits, however, at home care is often the preferred choice for seniors who wish to age in place in their own home (Griswold Home Care, n.d.). They used the soil s nutrients and the fresh rain water to plant their crops and help them grow. They practiced their customs and sang their songs on the immense amount of land that they had. The land was as beautiful as ever and mother earth was healthy. Over the years as times changed, the climate did as well. Native Americans are considered the first nation of North America. Many members from the tribe have left to other locations and have adapted to a new lifestyle, meanwhile, others have decided to stay in its original spot. One Lakota family decided to stay even though life on the Cheyenne River Reservation hasn t always been that great. The soil used to be rich and healthy. The rain used to provide necessary resources for survival. However, due to climate change this created a major complication for the tribe. Lately the land is not a fertile as it once was due to an inconsistent drought within the past fifteen years. Although the hills look lush and green, it is a facade because they re not really what they appear to be. Within recent months it has rained heavily, but the soil is all dried up and is incapable of absorbing the water. [T]he dry ground was unable to absorb the large quantities of rain, which ran off into flooded creeks down the Missouri River, without ever replenishing the aquifer. As a result of this, the soil cannot retain rich nutrients from the rainwater and this causes the soil to dry up. This is a worrisome issue for current Lakota people living on the land because they are not able to grow crops or drink fresh water from the aquifer. They must limit their water consumption and plant their crops elsewhere. The current natives are unable to truly live off of the land like their people once did. In response to this problem, a Lakota family has started a grassroots group called, Mni, to start a water project. One of the grassroots groups

This notion is akin with self esteem and self concept possibly resulting in individuals having an inadequate body imageas well as low self esteem. The term body dissatisfaction is defined as a negative subjective perception of one s own self image. According to psychologists Grabe, Hyde, and Ward approximately 50% of women who do or do not suffer from an eating disorder have feelings of body dissatisfaction (2008).
