The document discusses the evolution of software-defined infrastructure through OpenStack. It summarizes that:
1) OpenStack is an open source cloud framework founded by NASA and Rackspace in 2010 that allows for massively scalable compute, storage, and networking resources through shared pools.
2) The ecosystem around OpenStack has grown tremendously, with many large technology companies either contributing to or using the platform.
3) Adopting OpenStack through solutions like Piston Enterprise OpenStack can provide significant benefits around speed of deployment, reduced hardware costs, and decreased headcount needs.

The problem is that traditional infrastructure was not designed for cloud environments. The enterprise datacenter needs to be re-platformed to meet the needs of the enterprise cloud.
The Cloud Operating System powered by OPenStack is increasingly helping businesses to innovate, stay ahead of the competition, and differentiate based on unique expertise. Containers for the Enterprise: It's Not That SimpleMirantis
Keynote by Alex Polvi, CEO of CoreOS, at OpenStack Silicon Valley 2015.
Containers are rapidly finding their way into enterprise data centers. But enterprises like to consume complete products. How do technologies like containers make their way from hyperscale ubiquity to enterprise nirvana? Alex offers some clues.
There have been heaping piles of buzz surrounding Ceph and OpenStack lately. Similar amounts of work have been going in to the integration between Ceph and OpenStack in recent versions. We'll take a look at how this work is making all the awesomeness of Ceph available to users in a simple, intuitive, and powerful way. The world of Havana and beyond is certainly no different, and promises to continue the trend of both functionality and buzz-worthiness.
This talk given at the OpenStack meetup in Boston (Aug 14, 2013) gives a brief introduction to Ceph for the uninitiated and take a look at what's coming down the road. The short term of Havana has plenty to keep fans of both platforms happy and busy, but there are plenty more interesting problems that we can tackle. In addition to the concrete of the short term we'll take a look at how less-oft-used pieces of the Ceph platform can help augment your OpenStack setup, some general blue sky thinking, and what the community can do to get involved.

There is a growing trend today of enterprises leveraging both Amazon Web Services (AWS) and on-premise OpenStack-based private clouds. However, the default networking option in OpenStack remains broken and the plethora of confusing plug-ins makes networking in OpenStack mysterious and difficult to manage.
Enter MidoNet, the open source network virtualization solution from Midokura favored by DevOps cultures in web scale enterprises and service providers around the world. This session will present case studies from several end user deployments, showing how they use MidoNet to build, run and manage large-scale virtual networks in OpenStack clouds. The session will also discuss how transitioning from a public to private cloud enables organizations to accomplish much more with the same resources, without over-simplifying the inherent complexity of running an OpenStack cloud.
OpenStack & the Evolving Cloud EcosystemMark Voelker
OpenStack has come a long way since 2010. What started as a collaboration on compute and storage between NASA and Rackspace has changed dramatically and grown into a large, successful open source project that meets the needs of thousands of organizations. But OpenStack hasn’t evolved in a vacuum over the past seven years: the technology landscape around it has been changing as well. Join VMware’s chief OpenStack architect and longtime community member Mark Voelker for a look at the new technology landscape around OpenStack, how we got here, and where we might go next. We’ll discuss how what started as an IaaS platform ending up being a winning platform for Network Functions Virtualization and telco applications, how OpenStack came to be selected as a common underpinning for container orchestration systems like Kubernetes, how OpenStack governance influenced other open source communities, and how OpenStack changed the way companies looked at Open Source. We’ll consider the role IaaS might play in a future that includes options like functions-as-a-service, containers, and the internet of things. We’ll consider OpenStack as a common foundation for a variety of new technologies, and discuss OpenStack’s lasting impact in the cloud ecosystem. We’ll also discuss how OpenStack is changing and adapting to shifts in the technology landscape, both as an open source community and in terms of product offerings. Learn about new interoperability programs targeted at use cases that didn’t exist seven years ago, and new initiatives from the OpenStack technical community and Foundation.

What's up with interop in OpenStack, Kubernetes, and more!
In this talk we'll discuss interoperability of modern open source cloud platforms and describe how the OpenStack, Kubernetes, and OPNFV communities are working toward interoperability standards for their respective platforms. We'll discuss the need for interoperability standards, the types of problems one may encounter, and why interoperability programs are increasingly a trend in open source infrastructure projects. We'll particularly hone in on the OpenStack Powered program and the work of the OpenStack Interop Working Group. Presented at All Things Open 2017.

Cloud Expo Silicon Valley 2013 | Why Lease When You Can Buy Your CloudMark Hinkle
Perhaps one of the perplexing things about cloud computing is the choice around renting time in someone else’s cloud (Amazon, Google, Rackspace or a myriad of others) or building your own. It’s not unlike the age-old car buyer’s dilemma, take the lower payments and lower total miles lease or buy the car and drive it for the long haul. Cloud computing users are often faced with the same conundrum. This presentation will focus on how to buy and build a cloud that can be fulfill the needs of most users including strategies for making use of the open source private cloud or managing workloads in both the private and public cloud using open source software.

Most of us already have a virtual infrastructure already in place. We’re running virtual machines atop a hypervisor, and for the most part enjoying the experience. But there’s always room for improvement. One of those improvements that you can implement today is elevating your simple virtual environment to a real Private Cloud. It’s not difficult, and it leans on the same tools you probably already have. But it does require a different approach to management, and a hard look at supply and demand for resources. Can you quantify how many resources you have? Do you know the exact number your virtual machines are demanding? Is your hardware suited for expansion, or even for the types of high availability a Private Cloud requires? Get the answers to these and many other questions when you attend this half-day workshop with noted VMware Guru Greg Shields. In it, you’ll learn exactly how to construct your own vSphere Private Cloud that exactly meets your needs.

Send an interactive Slack channel message (using buttons)
Have the message received by managers and peers along with a test email for review
But there’s more:
In a second workflow supporting the same use case, you’ll see:
Your campaign sent to target colleagues for approval
If the “Approve” button is clicked, a Jira/Zendesk ticket is created for the marketing design team
But—if the “Reject” button is pushed, colleagues will be alerted via Slack message

Elevating Tactical DDD Patterns Through Object CalisthenicsDorra BARTAGUIZ
After immersing yourself in the blue book and its red counterpart, attending DDD-focused conferences, and applying tactical patterns, you're left with a crucial question: How do I ensure my design is effective? Tactical patterns within Domain-Driven Design (DDD) serve as guiding principles for creating clear and manageable domain models. However, achieving success with these patterns requires additional guidance. Interestingly, we've observed that a set of constraints initially designed for training purposes remarkably aligns with effective pattern implementation, offering a more ‘mechanical’ approach. Let's explore together how Object Calisthenics can elevate the design of your tactical DDD patterns, offering concrete help for those venturing into DDD for the first time!
