A complete Open Source cloud: Storage, Virt, IaaS, PaaSDave Neary
You can do everything in your datacenter with open source these days. With GlusterFS, oVirt, OpenStack, OpenShift, all running on CentOS or Fedora and orchestrated with the Foreman, you can run a complete open source cloud where all the pieces talk to each other and leverage integration points for no money.
Jon Noble. Jon will give a brief overview of why you should consider security as part of your CloudStack deployment, why your approach to security needs to be different than in a traditional environment, and also talk about some of the motives behind the attacks – why they attack you and what they do once they have compromised a system.

OpenNebulaConf2018 - UCLouvain Case Study: VDI for 37,000 students with OpenN...OpenNebula Project
The Université Catholique de Louvain has been using OpenNebula in IT academic environment for several years. We were so satisfied that when we decided to implement VDI we looked for a connection broker compatible with this cloud orchestrator.
Thanks to OpenNebula + UDS Enterprise VDI joint solution, we will soon be able to give our 37,000 students access to virtual classrooms as if they were in the standard computer classrooms, so that they could access the same software from anywhere, anytime and using any device. The first tests with the solution have been very successful and we are now looking at expanding it to the whole university.
In this session we will detail how the VDI infrastructure was built, the different components used and their role in the platform and how the IT staff deploys and manages the virtual desktops. We'll also explain how in the near future we will extend the use of OpenNebula to remote applications.

Protecting Yourself from the Container ShakeoutMirantis
Keynote by Boris Renski, Co-Founder and CMO of Mirantis, and Lachlan Evenson, Team Lead of Cloud Platform Engineering at Lithium Technologies, at OpenStack Silicon Valley 2015.
The Docker-fueled container craze is much less of a threat to VMs or OpenStack than it is to PaaS vendors. The story of “do it the way Google does it” is proving just as tough to monetize with enterprises as commodity cloud was. Boris will talk about OpenStack as a “safe harbor” from the coming container shakeout, leveraging the project’s maturity as a place to try various container strategies until the winner emerges.
Lachlan Evenson of Lithium will join Boris to share how Lithium deployed Kubernetes on OpenStack.

It wasn’t more then 4 months between the first getting in touch with Opennebula and our productive Opennebula cluster beeing fired up. It was a quick decision that turned our to be the absolute right one. Since a little more than a year we are on our evolving way with Opennebula.
So what have we been looking for and why did we end up with Opennebula? How does our setup look like in the moment and what are our future plans with Opennebula? Learnings from a year with Opennebula.
OpenNebula Conf 2014 | ONE BIT to rule them all - Stefan KoomanNETWAYS
Why does OpenNebula fit the needs of an ISP? What customizations have we made to fit our needs? What challenges have yet to be overcome? During the
deployment of our clouds we have gained quite a bit of experience with OpenNebula. We will share practical tips on deployment (HOOKS FTW), and explore the f(e)uture(s) of OpenNebula.

OpenNebula Conf 2014 | State and future of OpenNebula - Ignacio LlorenteNETWAYS
We’re moving into a world of open cloud — where each organization can find the right cloud for its unique needs. A single cloud management platform can not be all things to all people, there will be a cloud space with several offerings focused on different environments and/or industries. The OpenNebula commitment to the open cloud flows directly out of its mission — to become the simplest cloud enabling platform — and its purpose — to bring simplicity to the private and hybrid enterprise cloud. OpenNebula exists to help companies build simple, cost-effective, reliable, open enterprise clouds on existing IT infrastructure. The OpenNebula Conference will be a great opportunity to remind our vision, vision and commitment, to look back at how the project has grown in the last six years, and to give a peek at what to expect from the project in the near future.

The Ubuntu OpenStack interoperability lab - Proven integration testing Nicola...Cloud Native Day Tel Aviv
The Ubuntu Openstack ecosystem is growing fast. This is good news. But as the options in cloud building grow, so does the task of ensuring interoperability between all the components. At Canonical we have deep experience of conformity and interoperability testing between OpenStack and Ubuntu. To bring this to the wider ecosystem we’ve opened a lab dedicated to testing components’ interoperability. We want to be able to present a wide a range of validated and supportable technical solutions. The talk will present the OIL describe how and why Canonical creates it and how to benefit from it.

Pulling Back the Curtain –CloudStack in Private and Community CloudsChip Childers
Keynote presented at the CloudStack Collaboration Conference EU 2014
CloudStack might be best known for it's deployments within the service provider industry, but the adoption of CloudStack for private and community clouds has led to some fascinating user stories. We don't hear as much about CloudStack's use within private clouds, perhaps because the platform is so foundational yet easy to implement. But don't be fooled, organizations around the globe are relying on CloudStack to be the core of their agile infrastructure strategy. Come pull back the curtain…
Cloud Native Night November 2019, Munich: Talk by Matthias Häusslerr (Cloud Consultant at Novatec)
=== Please download slides if blurred! ===
Abstract: Containers, applications, functions: When deploying workloads to the cloud, developers have various options. With this talk, we intend to clarify the different possibilities, with closer focus on Cloud Foundry, Kubernetes, Project Eirini, and Knative.
We'll compare and contrast the latest experiences of those platforms in order to extract a meaningful comparison of their features from a developer perspective, providing answers to the following questions:
- Which type of workloads are suitable for which platform?
- Which programming model applies for each platform?
- Where are the differences/where are the overlaps?
- How mature are the individual solutions?
- How simple and user-friendly are they?
Additionally, we'll measure and compare key metrics that affect the developer experience (e.g., time to deploy, time to scale, and other such metrics). The overall goal is to better understand what makes each individual useful in the best way and how they can work together.
