This document outlines a proposal to promote open source development in underprivileged inner city areas. The project, called OSITH, would provide open source training, tools, hardware, and software to build communities of open source developers. This addresses the shortage of IT professionals in the US and lack of opportunities for inner city youth. Phase 1 involves creating training material and getting initial support. Phase 2 focuses on fundraising from potential donors. Phase 3 establishes world-class training facilities in inner cities. The goal is to create pools of open source talent and startups to benefit communities.
