3. Digital communication Electronic exchange of info Email, cell phones, videoconferencing, instant messaging, text messaging, blogs, wikis
4. Digital literacy Ability to use digital technology & knowing when & how to use it Learning the digital basics:  browsers, search engines, emails Evaluating online resources  Exploring distance education
5. Digital etiquette Standards of conduct expected by other users Using technology in ways that minimize the negative effects on others Using technology when it’s contextually appropriate Respecting other online: not engaging in cyberbullying, inflammatory language
6. Digital law Legal rights & responsibilities governing technology use Using file sharing sites,  pirating software,  hacking,  stealing one’s identity
7. Digital rights & responsibilities  Privileges & freedoms, behavioral expectations Following acceptable use policies & using technology responsibly both inside and outside school Using online material ethically including citing sources and requesting permissions Using technology to cheat on test and assignments
8. Digital health & wellness  Physical and  psychological well-being  Using proper ergonomics  and avoiding repetitive motion  injuries Becoming addicted to the Internet or to video games and withdrawing from society
