IBM broke its patent record in 2017, receiving over 8,000 patents. The document then describes one law firm's journey from 2007 to the present in migrating its collaboration tools from Lotus Notes, Domino, Quickr, and Sametime to IBM Connections Cloud. It involved many upgrades, failures, office moves, and lessons learned before the firm was able to complete its migration to IBM Connections Cloud in 2017 and plans to be fully cloud-based by 2018. The firm learned that constant testing, backups, and cloud solutions provide easier long-term management than on-premises systems.
