Buildings used to suffer great losses from natural disasters every day, with homes being destroyed by winds, earthquakes, floods, and fires around the world. People realized that most buildings were not resilient enough and started working to find solutions by rethinking alternative materials, different systems, and better construction methods. This led builders, developers, insurers, governments, and owners to apply better solutions that reduced costs while making people and properties safer by increasing the resiliency of homes to withstand nature's forces.
