4. Why LEDs are Important
Super long life illuminators
Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) use only 1/9th (11%) of the
electricity to power the same brightness of an incandescent
bulb.
A 100 watt incandescent is equivalent in brightness to an 11
watt LED. CBS uses only the newest & most efficient high-
power LEDs.
LEDs never completely burn out. After 30,000 hours (16
years at full power for 5 hours/day) the LED loses brightness.
LEDs run on 12-volts supplied from solar, wind, batteries, or
converters that switch from line voltage to 12-volts.

5. Calculate & Store Power Needs
Build a 12-volt System
Calculate Watts using the System
List each12-volt item on the system and its watts .
Summarize the watts/day and multiply by the number of
days there is no system recharge (no sun/wind).
The result is the energy that could be drained from batteries
each day.
Calculate the battery capacity required.
Provide charging method for120% of the energy used
(solar, wind, hot-roof™).
Build the system capacity to meet the needed power.
