The Fred Creek Drainage Improvements project sought to stabilize eroding creek banks in Tulsa, Oklahoma while creating an attractive green space. Redi-Rock retaining walls were used to line the creek and control erosion. The walls were installed in sections to allow the creek flow to be diverted during construction. Finally, native plants were added to create a healthier ecosystem.
Roofing is an important consideration for LEED certification. Sarnafil roofing systems can help earn LEED points and their experience with over 20 LEED projects makes them well-qualified to assist. Their high-performance, energy-efficient and long-lasting membranes meet LEED criteria while offering benefits like reduced energy costs, design flexibility and proven durability over many years.
The document discusses Enterprise's Green Communities Criteria for affordable housing and pilots of green retrofit projects incorporating energy and water efficiency measures. It finds that the cost of green retrofits is offset by lifetime savings from lower utility bills. Examples are provided of WinnCompanies projects in Massachusetts that have achieved energy reductions through upgrades like new high-efficiency boilers, insulation, and solar installations.
This document is a resume for Ryan Freese, an architect licensed in Minnesota since 2001. It summarizes his qualifications including 14 years of experience on a wide range of project types and sizes. It also provides details on several representative projects he led as project architect, including details on building type, size, costs, and design highlights.
Riley Area Development Co. and Monument Realty plan to construct a four-story mixed-use building called Trail Side at 875 Mass Ave, currently the site of an underused one-story building. The $10 million project would include 63 affordable apartments, retail space, and community space if they secure federal tax credits. Developers hope Trail Side would spur further investment in the East End neighborhood like the nearby Davlan building did for its block of Mass Ave.
This document discusses changes between LEED v2.2 and LEED 2009. Major changes include standardizing the rating systems to use a 100 point scale with prerequisites, increasing emphasis on energy reduction through more points, and introducing regional priority points. The 20% reduction in water use is now a prerequisite instead of a credit. LEED 2009 aims to better align credits across systems and re-weight categories deemed most important like energy.
The document describes Andrew Bonesz's Voidscape project, an entry for the 2010 ACSA steel competition to design an urban community center. It includes plans and sections showing a multi-level design carved into a hillside with gardens at different levels, connected by stairs and ramps. Renderings and diagrams show the proposed structural system using corten steel, insulation, and glass. The design aims to give life to the space by subtracting material from an initial mass in a sculptural way.

Any Design Panelized Composite Building Structures, Ltd is a company that researches and manufactures composite building structures. The company name suggests they focus on developing panelized and composite building components. They hold a registered trademark on their business name.
Composite Building Structures develops a composite framing material as an alternative to wood and concrete for building structures. The composite material is stronger than steel, lighter than wood, and can be manufactured quickly in an automated factory process. It provides benefits such as strength in high winds and earthquakes, fire resistance, and sustainability. The document proposes that using the composite material could help address various problems and challenges facing the construction industry while earning points for green building certification standards.
CBS provides a solution to problems in home construction by using composite building materials and panelization. Their process replaces traditional materials with disaster-resistant composites and assembles buildings like automobiles in a factory setting. This allows high-speed production of housing units at lower costs while reducing environmental impacts and solving deficits in affordable housing worldwide.
This document outlines a plan for developing self-sustaining village projects to address issues like population growth, resource depletion, and lack of access to necessities. The plan involves establishing villages that can provide housing, electricity, water, food, and jobs through sustainable methods like alternative energy, efficient infrastructure, hydroponic farming, and developing skills for maintenance and commerce. The goal is to create self-sufficient communities through a step-by-step process using appropriate technologies and materials.
This document describes CBS Enterprise Companies which produce composite building materials as an alternative to wood, steel, and concrete. Their CBS Egis System uses lightweight composite panels, studs, and parts that assemble quickly into structures that are stronger, more durable, and more disaster resistant than traditional materials. The system aims to provide higher quality, safer, and more energy efficient buildings that can be constructed faster and at lower costs than conventional methods.
Composite materials have advantages over traditional materials like wood and concrete when used in construction. Composites are a combination of materials that achieve enhanced performance. They are now used in many applications including buildings, bridges, railings and more. Composite framing systems offer benefits like strength, durability, sustainability, disaster resistance, and energy efficiency. Prefabricated wall panels can be produced using composites to provide a complete building shell that is fast to assemble.

Observability Concepts EVERY Developer Should Know -- DeveloperWeek Europe.pdfPaige Cruz
Monitoring and observability aren’t traditionally found in software curriculums and many of us cobble this knowledge together from whatever vendor or ecosystem we were first introduced to and whatever is a part of your current company’s observability stack.
While the dev and ops silo continues to crumble….many organizations still relegate monitoring & observability as the purview of ops, infra and SRE teams. This is a mistake - achieving a highly observable system requires collaboration up and down the stack.
I, a former op, would like to extend an invitation to all application developers to join the observability party will share these foundational concepts to build on:

Climate Impact of Software Testing at Nordic Testing DaysKari Kakkonen
My slides at Nordic Testing Days 6.6.2024
Climate impact / sustainability of software testing discussed on the talk. ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.
