2. Basic information about company OLO
• It provides Bratislava (the capital city of Slovakia) with
waste collecting followed by disposal.
• OLO treats waste in the environmentally-friendly way.
3. Basic information about company OLO
• As long as incineration has many outputs, their emissions are
strictly controlled by European Union.
• OLO is one of the most modern incinerations in Central and
Eastern Europe.
5. The first part
• Our visit consisted of two parts: presentation and site visit.
• The presentation took part in an interactive room where we
could see different types of waste and there were written
some interesting facts about recycling too.
6. The first part
• The presentation was about the importance of correct
waste treatment since nowadays there is a vast amount of
rubbish in the world that needs to be disposed.
• We were also advised about recycling and our impact on the
global environment.
7. The second part
• Firstly, they gave us safety information and we had to put on
“fashionable“ orange vests and green helmets.
• Then we moved outside where we could see all parts of combustion of
waste.
• At the beginning, the worker of OLO took us to place – a very deep
hole where the garbage trucks empty their trunks. A very
smelly
place
8. The second part
• Then we went to a high building where a large excavator
took some waste from the hole, which I mentioned before,
and put it into the caldron (place with fire).
• Lastly, we were in a supervising room and in a place where
outputs of burning were stored.
9. My opinion
• To sum up, I personally really enjoyed this school trip
because it was educative but also interesting.
• We learnt about a hard work of employees in OLO who work
in hazardous conditions to earn a living.
• I´d say that most of my classmates and I have become more
conscious about recycling and treating the rubbish.
