This document summarizes several student projects aimed at raising environmental awareness and protecting the environment. It describes groups of students distributing leaflets, cleaning public areas, planting trees, and recycling litter collected from beaches. The students reflected on the value of their activities in teaching about the importance of caring for the environment and keeping it clean. They realized that small individual efforts can make a meaningful difference when combined.
14. Rohan and Sacha!
• First of all Rohan and Sacha went to Winners parking,
shell and around Curepipe giving out leaflets talking
about how the environment is polluted in Mauritius and
how to save it.
• We then went to a parking to clean it up as we found lots
of litter there when we were searching for a place to
clean.
15. The cleaning of Sacha and
Rohan!
Yes, this is normally used
to iron clothes!
An oven door!!! ->
16. Nishika and Eshna!
• Eshna and Nishika just like Sacha and Rohan went to
distribute leaflets around where we live and also went
cleaning.
• But what we also did we decided to plant a tree in
symbol of good environment.
18. Liam!
• Liam was not always available so we decided
that I could go in the area around my street to
clean up a bit around me. We did not have
enough leaflets for me to distribute so I just
cleaned.
19. Reflection!
• At first we wanted to go all as a group to places
together but then when we looked at what we
were doing during the week we were not all
available on the same day so we decided as a
group to separate into three and I have to say it
was better that way to cover more area so it’s
not only one part of Curepipe or Floreal which
has seen our leaflets so I think it was a great
idea.
• All our preparation was done during second
term and some of the exhibitions but we also
did some maybe 1 or 2 exhibits in third term.
20. The End!
• Remember, even if you clean up just a little
every week it can make a big difference in our
environment.
• Thank You for your attention.
27. AIM
• Our aim was to look after the environment. This
was to make us aware of the pollution
happening around us.
28. What did we plan to do?
• We planned to go to the beach and pick up the
litter there.
• Then we would make a 3D model representing the
world today and the world in 2024. We would show
the changes which would take place and the effect
it would have on the environment.
• After, we would make a PowerPoint which would
support what we would do at the beach.
• We would also record everything we did and
planned in our log book.
29. What did we actually do?
• We did everything we planned to do but instead of
picking up the litter from the beach and throwing it in the
bin, we separated them into a plastic section and a
paper/cardboard section. Then we brought them to
school and placed them in the respective recycle bins.
30. What were the outcomes?
• We were able to recycle
everything we picked up at
the beach. We also raised
the awareness of the people
at the beach as we also
asked if they had any plastic
or paper materials which
they wanted to dispose of.
Many people gave us plastic
bottles and disposable
plastic plates which we were
able to recycle as well.
31. Were our learning outcomes
achieved?
• We now know that any
plastic bottles we use at
school or even at home,
we can bring them to
school and recycle them.
We also learned that even
the smallest of things
make a difference. We
were able to sacrifice our
weekends and free time to
work on this project as one
whole group.
32. What did the activity mean to us?
• The activity meant a lot to us because we knew we were
helping the environment and the wild life around us. This
activity meant a lot and we wanted people around us to also
realise how important it is to keep our environment intact.
33. What was the value of the
activity?
• The activity taught us the value of the
Earth, keeping it clean does not only mean
we get to enjoy a healthy life, but also in
the future our children and grandchildren
will get to enjoy the world as we know it.
• Save the earth and always remember ‘the
smallest of things make a difference.’
34. What did we learn and how can we
apply it to a wider setting?
• We learnt that the environment is very polluted
and if litter isn’t recycled or picked up, our future
could be a disaster. In other words the smallest
of things make a difference. And maybe to apply
what we learnt, as from now on instead of
throwing litter in the bin, we could recycle it in
the recycling bin at school.

42. This image represents the amount of pollution which is found
on a very small area of the beach and of course it’s humans
responsible for this. Imagine the animals being killed because
of us-our laziness. This picture also shows a lot of plastic
materials. A plastic bag takes over 500 years to biodegrade
and that is enough for it to float in the sea destroying marine
life and even the very few arctic animals which is left in this
46. What did we
We learnt easlye waarysn to? save the
environment which we presented on
the poster we made and we learnt that
together, we can make a difference.
47. Why did we
choose this
• We decidepd tro doo aj epocstetr o?n how to save
the environment to help awareness of
saving the environment.
• We planted trees as plants are really
important to us as they produce oxygen.
• We cleaned Marie Reine De la Paix to make
it more attractive and appealing and to
help clean the environment.
48. Improvements
We, as a group believe that we co-operated
well. However, we can still improve. We all
agreed that if we could do this project again, we
would have cleaned more places, made more
posters and planted more trees.
49. Life skills project:
Protect our
environment
Presentation
done by: Aryan,
Govinden and
Dhaavlesh
2I
50. Govinden and Aryan had the divided task of cleaning a beach in our entire
group.
-As we reached Flic en Flac, we saw the government people making efforts
on cleaning the beach. On the other hand we saw signs of some people
who were so lazy to throw their litter in the bins instead they threw their
litter in the toilets and near the bins.
Litter outside the bin The same spot, after we picked
up the litter and threw it in the
51. We continued to pick up laying waste for next 1 hour
and we managed to clean a part of the beach
55. Our friend Dhaavlesh had the job
of Tree planting.
- I went to my neighbor’s house
for the tree planting and I
managed to plant a few trees.
After a tiring day, I thought
that if all the people had the
same thinking towards the
environment and did something
to contribute to the
environment, the world would
really be a better place to live
