Oliver Cromwell Essay
Writing an essay on the topic of Oliver Cromwell can prove to be a challenging yet intellectually
stimulating task. The difficulty lies not only in the extensive historical context surrounding
Cromwell but also in the diverse perspectives through which his life and actions can be
interpreted. Oliver Cromwell was a complex figure in English history, playing a crucial role in the
English Civil War and eventually becoming Lord Protector of the Commonwealth of England,
Scotland, and Ireland.
To construct a comprehensive essay, one must delve into Cromwell's early life, military
achievements, political ideologies, and the consequences of his rule. Moreover, analyzing the
various historical accounts, scholarly opinions, and conflicting narratives about Cromwell adds
another layer of complexity to the task. Balancing objectivity while acknowledging the
subjective nature of historical interpretations requires a careful approach.
Furthermore, the essay should explore Cromwell's impact on society, religion, and the political
landscape of his time. Addressing controversies surrounding his policies, such as the Irish and
Scottish campaigns or the dissolution of the Rump Parliament, demands a thorough examination
of primary sources and secondary literature.
Crafting a well-structured essay on Oliver Cromwell involves synthesizing information from
diverse sources, critically evaluating historical perspectives, and presenting a coherent and
nuanced argument. Attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to articulate thoughts
concisely are essential to navigate through the intricacies of this historical subject.
In conclusion, writing an essay on Oliver Cromwell requires a careful balance of historical
research, critical analysis, and effective communication. It is a task that demands a deep
understanding of the subject matter and an ability to synthesize information to construct a
compelling narrative.

Terrible Transportation In Las Vegas
Terrible Transportation in Las Vegas The RTC, Regional Transportation
Commission, is the only bus system all around the Las Vegas area and it covers most
of the valley. People all over this vast city depend on this multicultural transit system,
whether they are old, young, rich, or poor. Nevertheless, riding the busin Las Vegas is
not only dangerous, it is time consuming, on top of being a filthy place to expose
oneself to. The bus in this city is alarming to ride in many areas of the town as
passengers make their way from point A to point B. The bus travels straight up and
down each street without turning on most of its routes. As the bus repeatedly drives
along its route it heads through some not so decent parts of town, this can be seen...

Remember how earlier it was mentioned that any fare paying passenger was
allowed on the bus, this includes people with the flu or any kind of sickness
creating a germ infested bus that is only cleaned once a day! All too often bus
riders seem to have no sense of respect for fellow passengers leaving their trash on
the seats when they depart. In just about every bus in the valley, a rider can see
stains on the floor that are sometimes sticky from the drinks spilled throughout that
single day even though drinks are not allowed on the bus. Along with icky floors
comes gross windows or sometimes even gunk on the seats this is often from the
children who smear their dirty fingers and faces all over the bus. Unfortunately, this
junk is left on the bus all day for each passenger to see. Rather a repulsive sight when
someone takes the time to think that even as often as the bus stops at the transit
stations no one wipes the buses down between runs even with all the stops that a bus
The United States And The Great Depression
To Americans, Australia may seem like a completely distant and disconnected land
just because of how far it is and because it is technically and island. However, the
fact of the matter is that Australia, just like most of the places colonized by Great
Britain, is still considered a western country. That along with the interconnectedness
of a globalized economy makes it so that Australia is still affected, both positively
and negatively, by the changes of the United States and Britain. Such was the case
when the United States suffered what is now known as the great depressionin 1929.
The great depression spread throughout most western countries and beyond and
Australia was no exception. Australia was hit with the depression not long after the
United States and it reached its peak in 1932. The depression hit Australia quite
hard and the economic recovery was fairly slow and lasted until just about the
beginning of the Second World War. This was partly due to having a number of
badly implemented policies by a disputing government. While some say that it was
the Premiers Plan that led the country out of the depression others argue that there
was no one single policy or plan responsible but rather a combination of many. One
act that had a hand in leading Australia out of the great depression was the
devaluation of the currency.

The Epic Of Gilgamesh Essay
The story I wrote is an adaptation of The Epic of Gilgamesh by Herbert Mason.
My adaptation is based off of the theme in the epic of personal growth and
development. In The Epic of Gilgamesh, Mason conveys this theme by transforming
Gilgamesh from a tyrant to his people (15) to a ruler who was awed at the heights
his people had achieved (92), determined to better the lives of the citizens of Uruk. At
the beginning of the story, Gilgamesh is a greedy, obnoxious king, with little to no
respect for anyone. Later, however, after many journeys and a loss, Gilgamesh sees
light at the end of tunnel. The ruler experiences normal life, having to endure
hardship, and the loss of a friend. He doesn t get what he wants, as he normally
would as a king. Through this grief and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He knows he must move on with his purpose of the King of Uruk, to better the lives
of his people. We see Gilgamesh transform from a selfish deity to a compassionate
mortal as the story progresses.
In my adaptation, I am striving to maintain the elements of Gilgamesh that make
the epic unique. The three main characters of the epic were A) Gilgamesh and his
large ego, B) Enkidu and his loss of innocence, and C) Utnapishtim, and his
guidance and second chances. The three main events of the epic were A) the
capturing of the Forest of Humbaba, B) the death of Enkidu, and C) Utnanpishtim
giving Enkidu a second chance to live by providing Gilgamesh with a flower to
revive his lost friend. I decided to make my adaptation about a convenience store
being robbed, to imitate the Forest of Humbaba being captured. I have one
character, Jimmy, who acts as Gilgamesh by convincing his guiltless friend, Derek, to
rob the store with him. Jimmy has a very commanding presence in my story. He also

Feudalism And Political Periods In The Medieval Period
During the medieval period, the key elements in the political arena were
feudalism. Feudalism means a government whereby political power is exercised in
a local manner by individuals rather than in a bureaucracy of the centralized
government. During this period political activities were all about personal affairs
which were based on the individual loyalty rather the loyalty of the people or
political system. Medieval political activities were characterized by three basic
features. To start with, personal element in which a certain individual who was
commonly referred to as lordship or vassalage in which one individual was chosen
to become a loyal follower of the stronger nobleman. By the fifth century, the
Roman emperor was not is a position to offer protection to his subjects and
therefore it depended on the patronage system that was offered by the Roman noble
which was composed of less powerful men who acted as bodyguards. In return this
organized group of less powerful men they after their wants and interests. The same
was experienced in Germans war band which was also known as comitatus. The
element of personality in medieval period come to be from a combination of a user
of patronage and the comitatus.
The other features were on the property element which was known as fief which is
derived from the practices of the Romans. This was on the ownership of the land. In
this, it enabled the vassal to carry out his obligations as it was required by his lord.

Plastic Bags And The Environmental Damage
Introduction
Plastic bag is an important invention of modern humans, it was only for a short time
from which was invented to widely used in human history. When plastic bags
become one of the most necessities goods in our life, we have not realized that if we
do not handle the waste of plastic bags properly, it will become our disaster. White
Pollution is no longer a strange word but it actually reminds us that this is a serous
problem. This essay will examine the relationship between plastic bags and the
environmental damage; moreover, in this essay it will try to find solutions to solve
this problem.
Plastic bags: born for killer of environment
The first plastic bags named baggies in 1975 in the United States of America (Leo
Hickman 2009). For the original use of plastic bag is to convenient and easy carrying
food. In a long time, people dependence on plastic bags is embodied in many aspects
of daily life, it makes people ignore what and how plastic bags contribute to
environmental damage. The cost of produce plastic bags is low and plastic
products are using a wide range, especially in large retailers, offering free plastic bags
is one of the most basic service and standard for customers in a large supermarket.
Marine and soil pollution
The damage of plastic bags pollution is not just the white pollution in the vision for
environmental problems, in the depth, not degradability is the main factor that why it
is becoming a serious problem for using plastic bags. It

1.The competition to develop and market electric vehicles has increased during the
last year and is expected to continue to increase. The electric bicycle industry has four
major manufacturers and a large group of small companies. The major manufacturers
are Honda, Suzuki, Sanyo and Yamaha. They mainly sell products to Japan and
Europe. The other group of manufacturers is much smaller in size and sales volume.
These manufacturers have products they sell into the U.S., European and Asian

With product innovation, the key to success is capturing the imagination of the
customers. Also, with the rising energy costs facing the world today, governments
might require permits or licenses on the EV industry thus dampening the
attractiveness of the market. Before the energy problem, recharging an EV was cost
efficient, but with this rise in energy prices, a potential alteration of consumer
perception about the cost of owning an EV might occur. In my opinion, these driving
forces only dampen the industry thus allowing only early movers to be the most
likely to survive the competition of this industry.
li value= 3 Is the industry attraction? Basing my decision on Porter s five forces
model, I would have to say that the EV industry in unattractive. This is because
anyone can enter into the industry thus creating too much competition which will
drive prices down. This driving of prices downward will cause new entrants into
the business to see no real profit growth. Also, new products being created keeps
giving consumers new ideas to buy. This also makes it harder for businesses in the
EV industry to find ways to make buyers choose their business. Also, suppliers have
strong bargaining power so industries have a difficult time trying to shop around for
the best prices on the parts they need. However, Zap was an early mover and is a

Mental Disorders And Physical Disorders
The world has come a long way in understanding mental disorders, but even in
today s society they are still not treated the same way as physical disorders. It is
true we are no longer killing people for having a mental disorder because of the
belief it is a demon possessing them, but we still have a long way to go in
correcting how we still treat those with these disorders. The two have their
differences, but mental and physical disorders are equal in how they are both
illnesses deserving the same respect and treatment. Mental disorders are diseases
of the brain that cause impairment in one s behaviors, thoughts, or moods. On the
other hand, physical disorders are diseases that cause pain to the physical body
itself. By definitions, both mental disorders and physical disorders are both
diseases. These two types of disorders are similar in the way that they both have
symptoms, they can be treated with modern medicine, and they both alter the lives
of those who live with them. They are both considered medically to make people
sick, so why do people still react to mental disorders as if they are lesser than
physical disorders? To this day mental disorders are still questioned and looked
down upon in ways that physical disorders could never even compare, and that needs
to change. Examples of this difference in treatment is shown immediately throughout
the early stages of a diagnosis. When someone is diagnosed with a physical disorder,
most people never feel the need to hide

Have you ever wondered the story behind the person who owns the famous line This
is Sparta!! ? I have, so I decided, hey! I should do a research paper on this guy so,
here we are. His name is Spartacus and this is his story.
Spartacus was born 109 BC in Thrace, Southeast Europe. Old right? I know that s
what I thought when I found that out. Spartacus lived during the first century BCE,
cool right? He was a Thracian by birth and was enslaved by the Roman army.
Spartacus had no siblings. He did have a wife though, but her name is unknown. He
might have a son since he had a wife, but there is no documented proof that he did.
Plutarch, by what they have found, is the person who documented most of the
rebellion and what Spartacus did while he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In his small army they defeated the first four forces they confronted, taking and using
their supplies. More and more slaves began to join the rebellion in order to fight for
their freedom, thus the army became stronger.
In the beginning the Romans did not see the small army as a threat, but when they
snuck up on one of the Romans campsites where they were resting and defeated
them taking all of their supplies and weapons they immediately wanted to take them
down. Spartacus and his army was being tracked down by the Romans, but
Spartacus did not see this as a huge threat, maybe not even as a threat at all. The
Romans were looking to see what was Spartacus was traveling and plotting something
to sneak up on them and kill them.
Spartacus ended up winning three more engagements, and then, for some unknown
reason turned South, causing Rome to panic.
Rome had had a trap set for them and since Spartacus decided to turn South
randomly they were thrown into panic since they didn t know what to do at the
time. It was beginning to get worrying but the Romans knew they could defeat this
slave rebellion once and for all, they just didn t know how quite yet. Then, with M.
Licinius Crassus in command for the Romans, the fate was about to be changed for
them and they were going to take down Spartacus. Initially, and over eager
subordinate of Crassus devised a plan to take down Spartacus that ended up failing
miserably. During that defeat, several of the Romans fled the battle of
The Demise Of Prince Hamlet In William Shakespeare s
Play
Every tragedy has a hero that succumbs to an internal flaw. Hamlet is no exception
to this rule. In this infamous play by Shakespeare, the main character Prince Hamlet
is troubled with the task of avenging his father s death. He is approached by his
father s ghost who tells the story of his deceitful murder. After he finishes the story,
the ghostasks Prince Hamletto kill his brother and murderer King Claudius. Prince
Hamlet s obsession with the perfect plan for revenge is what ultimately brings
about his demise. This cause for a perfectly seamless plan resulted in stalling the
end result of killing King Claudius and gave the King time to devise a plan of his
own. Directly after talking to the ghost of his father, Prince Hamlet formulates a
scheme to murder his uncle. During this time Hamlet seems very eager to begin
with the first steps of avenging his father s death. Once the ghost leaves Hamlet is
talking to himself and he says So, uncle, there you are. Now to my word which
indicates a sense of urgency and desire to fulfill his father s wishes by any means
necessary (I.v.111). These emotions only last for a short moment considering that
they were likely generated from a rush of adrenaline that came with seeing a ghost of
his dead father.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hamlet changes from wanting to kill King Claudius at his first chances to waiting
and collecting verification of Claudius being guilty to the crime. When the royal
family goes to watch a play, Hamlet asks Horatio to observe [his] uncle in order to

Hamlet wanted to be absolutely positive that King Claudius was at fault for his
father s death. He did not want any flaws in his plan for

PHL 305: AFRICAN SOCIAL AND POLITICAL THOUGHT
QUESTION: TAKE ONE AFRICAN SOCIO POLITICAL PHILOSOPHER AND
DISCUSS:
A. HIS POLITICAL PHILOSOPHY
B. THE PROBLEM HE TRIED TO SOLVE
C. THE EXTENT TO WHICH HE WAS SUCCESSFUL.
African socialism was one of the earliest theories proffered by many African leaders
at the outset of independence. Leaders such as Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, Julius Nyerere,
Obafemi Awolowo and Leopold Senghor all supported this concept but had different
approaches to it.
In this essay, my focus will be on Julius Nyerere and his approach to the idea of
African socialism.

In the area of achieving self reliance by African states particularly Tanzania,
Nyerere developed an educational philosophy which could be approached under
two main headings; Education for Self reliance and Adult education. His interest in
Self reliance shares a great deal with Gandhi s approach to Basic Education . There
was a strong concern to counteract the colonialists assumptions and practices of the
dominant, formal means of education, which he saw as enslaving and oriented
towards western interest and norms. It was designed to transmit the values of the
colonizing power and to train individuals for the service of the colonial state. It
induced attitudes of subservience, human inequality and individualism, and
emphasized white collar skills. The context of colonial education was largely alien
and the entire system was organized by racial segregation. For Nyerere who was
once a teacher himself, he believed that education had to work for the common
good, foster co operation and promote equality. He asserted that the school
curriculum should go hand in hand with de emphasizing the import of formal
examinations which merely assesses a person s ability to learn facts. He said it was
necessary for African states to abandon examinations that are geared towards
Cilia Function
Cilia are organelles protruding from body cells, consisting of microtubules. These
structures are important for hemostasis and cell development. Along with a group of
proteins called kinesins superfamily proteins (KSFs), the cilia also play an important
role in SHH signaling. The proteins found in this family serve a variety of functions
relating to microtubule regulation, such as KIF4A and KIF21A. KIF4A controls
microtubule length during celldivision, whereas KIF21A inhibits microtubule growth
at the cell cortex. A prominent member of this family is the proteinKIF7, a homologue
of the protein Costal2 (Cos2) found in Drosophila and zebrafish. Both serve relatively
similar functions with relation to the Hh signaling pathway, though there... Show

The level of activity of Gli genes, and thus Hh pathway activation, determines skin
tumor phenotype: high level signaling is shown to result in BCC and low level
signaling is shown to result in follicular derived tumors such as basaloid follicular
hamartoma (BFH) (2). Gli2 is involved in the expression of cell cycle regulation
genes in the Shh pathway such as E2F1, CCND1, CDC2 and epidermal differential
genes. Over expression of Gli2 causes the up regulation of such cell cycle
regulation genes in developing hair follicles. Shh activation most specifically
promotes degradation of the p53 tumor suppressor gene (2), thus repressing
transcription of p21, a key suppressor of cyclin E in cell cycle regulation. Thus, G1
arrest is overrode, and the inability to control cell cycle is promoted: a key feature of
cancer. Sufu and Kif7 have overlapping functions in regulating Gli transcription
factors. Specifically, Gli2 forms a complex with Sufu to prevent transcriptional
activity via preventing accumulation of Gli2 transcriptional factors into the nucleus,
thus repressing Hh pathway transduction (3). Sufu also plays a role in stabilizing
Gli2 by blocking Spop, an E3 ligase involved in degradation of Gli2 (3). In
keratinocytes, Kif7
Plato’s Allegory of the Cave and The Matrix Essay
The Republic is considered to be one of Plato s most storied legacies. Plato
recorded many different philosophical ideals in his writings. Addressing a wide
variety of topics from justice in book one, to knowledge, enlightenment, and the
senses as he does in book seven. In his seventh book, when discussing the concept of
knowledge, he is virtually addressing the clichГ© seeing is believing , while
attempting to validate the roots of our knowledge. By his use of philosophical
themes, Platois able to further his points on enlightenment, knowledge, and education.

The prisoners have been in these conditions since their earliest stages of life. The
cave, the wall, and the chains are all the prisoners have ever known. Behind the
prisoners, there was a raised path. Above the walkway was a platform, where there
was a fire burning, and in front of the fire, was a parapet, which as Plato described
it , was like that of the screens Puppeteers use to hide themselves and have the
puppets be visible . Each and every day, the prisoners see nothing, but the shadows
of the objects and people passing between them and the fire. For their entire lives,
the prisoners are exposed to nothing but those images and the sounds made by
those walking around. These shadows are all they have ever known, in essence;
these shadows are their only reality . As time passed, the prisoners would grow
accustomed to these sights, later on the prisoners would match the objects with
names and the familiar sounds to the images of the shadows (514; Appendix A). In
discussing the allegory with Glaucon, Socrates toys around the concept of what
could happen to a prisoner should they be released after having lived their lives in
the cave, with the only knowledge the possess of the world, are the images and
sounds by the wall. The similarities between The Cave and The Matrix are too
uncanny. The description of the cave above, which is discussed in the first paragraph
of Plato s seventh book, can be portrayed similarly in
Explain The Role Of Mitochondria In The Cell
1.What is the function of mitochondria in the cell?
Mitochondria convert the chemical energy stored in food into compounds that are
more convenient for the cell to use. They are the power plants of the cell.
Do plants and animal cells have mitochondria?
Yes, both plan and animal cellshave mitochondria. They are similar because they are
both eukaroyotic cells, which means they have several features in common; cell
membrane, cell organelles, nucleus, mitochondria, and endoplasmic reticulum.
From where are mitochondria inherited?
In humans, our mitochondria come from the cytoplasm of the ovum, or egg cell.
Unlike nuclear DNA, which comes from both parents, mitochondrial comes only
from our mother. We inherit our mitochondrial DNA from
Invisible Man Analysis
In the book Invisible Man, it is based in a time period where there is somewhat of a
divide between blacks and whites, and because of this lifestyle that was created by
society, the main character is caught in the crossfire. The narrator feeling invisible in
this world dominated by whites, where he feels he doesn t belong, and is frankly,
invisible. The narratorgoes to several different parts of the country to use what
many people admire about him, his voice. Not in a singing way but in a form of
speeches which helps bring attention to some of the societal issues and that not
only he has but what many have encountered just like him along their life s
journey. During his experiences in New York and finding his way, he is cut out
from certain things that tie him back to his version of home, some people,
specifically Brother Jack, Mr. Norton, and Dr. Bledsoe and some experiences
made it difficult to feel like he was where he belonged, alienating him from certain
realms of society. The narrator faces many struggles in the beginning of the book
that lead to the idea of exile and the fact that the narrator is perhaps, invisible. Dr.
Bledsoe does a good job of manipulating the narrator into thinking he is welcomed
at the University early on. You can tell from his personality that he is only in it for
himself but acts as though he is thoughtful towards other. You re nobody, son. You
don t exist can t you see that? The white folk tell everybody what to think except
men like me. I tell them; that s my life, telling white folk how to think about the
things I know about... But you listen to me: I didn t make it, and I know that I can
t change it. But I ve made my place in it and I ll have every Negro in the country
hanging on tree limbs by morning if it means staying where I am. Sending the
narrator off to New York was his manipulative way of saying you re not welcome
here, and giving him seven letters was just the icing on the cake to making finding
success more difficult. The narrator is unable to see that Dr. Bledsoe is solely
doing this for his own benefit and is not looking at the interest of the narrator.
Towards the beginning of the book, we meet a character who is very old school, and
as people say. a

In the short story/movie,The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty, there are many important
themes some of which are obvious to see such as dreams/reality, identity or even
confrontation, the most prevalent however is inner satisfaction. Throughout the
beginning of the film Walter daydreams multiple times a day, sometimes even
during a conversation. All of his dreams involve him being the protagonist or hero
of a story. Other people notice when he daydreams, often trying to get his attention,
but once he s in one it is proven difficult to snap him out of it. Walter knows he

African American Stereotypes
During this time more than ever, African Americans are able to speak on subjects
that can affect us in the future. Growing up, racial profiling was never a big deal
to me or my family. I was taught to never judge someone by how they look but
upon their actions. Ironic to think that is how one is taught to act but stereotypes
are now bigger than ever right? Being a high school student I never payed much

mind of the everyday citizen of the country I lived in. Ferguson was the conflict that

the media could support an African
American if it were used correctly. Michael Brown, an 18 year old African
American, was shot and killed august 9th, 2014. The headline captured attention
once surfacing the news. African Americans wanted to voice their opinion not only

close minded, uneducated, hateful citizens caused headlines to be created that
viewed us as the bad guy . News cast such as political pistachio quickly came up
with headlines such as Chaos in Ferguson as dozens defy curfew, protest descends
into violence . Not only does this headline affect the african american culture in
Ferguson but also the culture as a
Falling Down Is Failure Research Paper
Mistakes! Whether it is a bad choice in a love partner or lying to a loved one, it s
safe to say that everyone makes mistakes. Beyond doubt it would be impossible not
to. When people slip up and learn from the outcome, those people are taking part in
growing up. Growing up is defined as growing toward physical or mental maturity.
Ways to do that is by taking risks and making mistakes.
In many cultures making mistakes is a bad thing, especially in today s society.
Making a mistake would result in some form of punishment, the society is trying to
assist in the process of helping the individual grow as a person and hopefully restrain
them from making that mistake again. As Henry Petroski, a professor at Duke

Vampire Vs Dragon Research Paper
Vampires Vs Dragons
Angel, a heroic vampire cursed with soul, stood in a defensive position with his
broadsword held tight in his hands and his eyes fixed on a large black dragon. He
was here to investigate reports of dragons attacking the city of Los Angeles. To his
right stood another vampire, Spike, also with soul but without the gypsy curse that
troubled Angel. The two vampires had guessed that it was this larger dragon who was
responsible for summoning the various smaller dragons who were terrorizing the
city. As the dragon spit a huge fireball from it s mouth both men knew they had to act
fast.
Angel looked over at Spike, Here s the plan Angel started to say before Spike cut him
off.
Bugger you re plan. Spike said in his cockney accent with that smirk that Angel had
always found irritating. He then, stupidly, rushed towards the enraged dragon
swinging a sword and yowling at the beast. Spike got in a few slashes that didn t
seem to do much damage before the dragon swatted the platinum blond vampire

come up with a plan of his own he watched as Angel rolled under the belly of the
beast and thrusts his broadsword into the creature. Spike rolled his eyes as once

The Crucible Essay
For centuries, humans have utilized defense mechanisms to explain the unfortunate
occurrences of humanity that we are incapable of conceiving through our narrow,
defensive minds. Humans most commonly scapegoat their enemies, or the entirely
innocent, for their internal issues as a means of coping for their insecurities or
explaining the irrational or biased situations they find themselves in. Similarly,
others cope just as easily by lying to themselves, which can establish a false reality
in the mind of the self deceiver and, ultimately, leads to fallacies in logic.
Coherently, Arthur Miller utilizes his diverse cast of characters in his play write The
Crucible to demonstrate the ease at which lying to one s self can create false... Show

Elizabeth s passive aggression constitutes Danforth s denial, therefore demonstrating
human hypocrisy. Judge Danforth, a theocratic representative of God, similar to
Proctor, recognizes he is at fault for the fate of many innocent people. However,
being a representative of God and giving arrested so many, Danforth concludes that
he cannot be wrong, despite his knowledge that the children are lying, which
unmistakably proves his denial. During Act III, in the courthouse, Danforth tells
Proctor, Indeed not, but it strike hard upon me that she would dare come here with
such a tale. Now, Mr. Proctor, before I decide whether I shall hear you or not, it is
my duty to tell you this. We burn a hot fire in here; it melts down all concealment

crucible, which melts ores until they become pure and exposed metals, free of
impurities, Danforth s quote simultaneously suggests his inability to conceive the
concept that the children are fake, a truth revealed to him after his sentencing of
many innocent people with no evidence. Danforth, unable to decide between
attempting to maintain his personal ethos or pardoning those he knows are innocent,
demonstrates his denial. However, Danforth, being well aware of his mistake, is

Ikea Children Labour
9 906 414 REV: NOVEMBER 14, 2006 CHRISTOPHER A. BARTLETT VINCENT
DESSAIN ANDERS SJГ–MAN IKEA s Global Sourcing Challenge: Indian Rugs and
Child Labor (A) In May 1995, Marianne Barner faced a tough decision. After just
two years with IKEA, the world s largest furniture retailer, and less than a year into
her job as business area manager for carpets, she was faced with the decision of
cutting off one of the company s major suppliers of Indian rugs. While such a move
would disrupt supply and affect sales, she found the reasons to do so quite
compelling. A German TV station had just broadcast an investigative report naming
the supplier as one that used child labor in the production of rugs made for IKEA.
What frustrated Barner was that,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1951, to reduce product returns, he opened a display store in nearby Г„lmhult
village to allow customers to inspect products before buying. It was an immediate
success, with customers traveling seven hours from the capital Stockholm by
train to visit. Based on the store s success, IKEA stopped accepting mail orders.
Later Kamprad reflected, The basis of the modern IKEA concept was created [at
this time] and in principle it still applies. First and foremost, we use a catalog to
tempt people to visit an exhibition, which today is our store. . . . Then, catalog in
hand, customers can see simple interiors for themselves, touch the furniture they
want to buy and then write out an order. 2 As Kamprad developed and refined his
furniture retailing business model he became increasingly frustrated with the way
a tightly knit cartel of furniture manufacturers controlled the Swedish industry to
keep prices high. He began to view the situation not just as a business opportunity
but also as an unacceptable social problem that he wanted to correct.
Foreshadowing a vision for IKEA that would later be articulated as creating a
better life for the many people, he wrote: A disproportionately large part of all
resources is used to satisfy a small part of the population. . . . IKEA s aim is to
change this situation. We shall offer a wide range of home furnishing items of good
design and function at prices so low that the majority of

Hacking And Its Impact On Society Essay
Introduction
Hacking is the process of gaining unauthorized access to information through various
means like systems or computers. In the context of computer security, a hacker is that
person who looks for weakness in a system so that they can gain access to
unauthorized information. They are motivated by various reasons like protest, profits
or evaluating the entire system weaknesses.
What are the effects of hacking?
For some individuals, hacking can be a hobby they like to undertake in order to
analyze how many computers or the systems they can gain access to. While hacking
seems harmless, there are those who do this vice maliciously so that they can get
access to customer/ client information, the details of credit cards, their passwords,
email addresses and identity fraud (Riem, 2001). Having this unauthorized access to
these information warrants an arrest, and should the criminals be found, they are
liable for their crimes.
When firms like Home Depot and Target invests a lot of financial and non financial
resources to curb the menace, one is left to wonder why such vices continues to
affect them and their clients. Hacking of companies in the United States have
reached a sky high and notable names in the industry have been affected by the
vice. The firms like Home Depot, JPMorgan, Michael, Nieman Marcus and Target,
have had its share of this vice. The United States Postal Services have not been left
behind also, because it was also affected by the hackers ( Cybercrime a

Some factors that might help me decide if I want to move to Tennessee is the cost

Every day, Americans are surrounded by countless advertisements. On the way to
work, billboards and radio ads bombard the senses. Most ads are quickly forgotten
while others stick with the audience. What makes some ads memorable and others
forgettable? The product may be visually appealing, from a desirable brand, or
presented as a solution to the viewer s problem such as anti aging cream for
wrinkles. Such is the case for an ad for The Venetian resort and casino in Vanity
Fair, a high end magazine. Featured in the ad is an older woman sitting invitingly on
a luxurious white bed with bountiful pillows. This ad may appeal to a high socio
economic class of viewers with a desire to belong in a high class society in

Analysis Of Bury Me In A Free Land
Reading a poem written by Frances Watkins Harper, is like being transported to the
1800 s; one minute the reader is sitting in a chair reading the first stanza of what
seems a simple poem, and before one knows it, they are an abolitionist watching a
family being torn apart at a slave auction. Harper does this transporting through her
use of tone. A writer creates a particular tone in his or her writing using literary tools
like characterization, diction, or theme. Harper strongly protests against slaveryand
portrays the horrid realities of slavery, in several of her poems, and accomplishes this
through the use of diction and imagery.
Each poem has its own tone, and a writer may use diction or word choice to convey
a certain mood. For example, Harper s, Bury Me in A Free Land, poem shows how
diction can play a role in conveying a dismal tone. In the beginning of the poem
Harpers word choice for the last line of the first stanza, conveys a since of rebellion
when she writes, But not in a land where men are slaves (4). Here the word men is
referencing the deep inequality between people, without having to mention race.
This also evokes a since of deflated pride; being buried in a country where human
beings are treated as cattle. All men are supposed to be created equal , but Harper
makes it clear that some men are not being treated as such.
Further into the poem, Harper s word choice clearly evokes a terrifying tone, when
she describes the dehumanization that slaves are

Leverage and liquidity ratios in respect to the O.M Scott amp; Sons Company vary
widely. The overall liquidity of the company does not indicate that lack of cash will
impede their operational ability. Although the current ratio increases to a high of
4.2999 in 1960, their ability to meet short term obligations should not be affected.
However, it may indicate that there is too much inventory or cash could be better
spent in other areas of the business. The financial leverage ratio increases from a
low of .5335 in 1957, to a high of 1.3928 in 1961. This change shows that the
company is becoming more dependent on using debt to finance its assets.
Pro Forma Analysis
In terms of the financial outlook for the O.M Scott amp; Sons Company for the next
few years, there are several notable changes that occur as a result of the changes
management enacted through 1957 1961. It is important to note that both the pro

growth figure based on the years stated earlier. Emphasis will be placed on
forecasted numbers for the years 1962 1964 in order to provide readers with
projected figures established through several key assumptions. Cost of goods sold
will continue to be an area that further increases as a result of management decisions.

II.Asylum is granted in accordance with the laws and usages of the state of refuge,

Asylum on Humanitarian grounds: Asylum in a foreign embassy or legation is a
subject which affords a good illustration of the change and development of the
rules of international law. In modern times, it is asserted, the right to asylum, if it
were generally recognized, would tend to constitute an abuse. It would interfere
with good government. The practice of asylum is even looked on with a tolerant
eye and the personnel of a foreign legation are not very glad to use this right. To the
diplomatic agent concerned the practice is nothing but a burden. But the practice is
defended on humanitarian grounds. Motives of humanity exclude a rigid refusal to
receive a man who may be in peril of his life, but the general rule now is to limit the
reception of such political refugees to cases where the person received is in instant or
imminent personal

on his dispute with his neighbour Lisa; this shall be achieved by means of critical
analysis and full reference of pertinent authority to complement the scope of case
facts.
With due consideration of the facts present we can identify that the key legal issue is
accession. This gives us the notion that one [thing] which is united with another
[thing] becomes an integral part component of that other [thing]. It presupposes that
one object can be regarded as the main object . Under the roman derived maxim

This assessment will determine if the folly has become heritable by annexation ,
whether there is functional subordination , then further into the notion of quasi
permanency which satisfies the three elements.
Throughout this assessment we shall also outline Lisa s prospective defences to
establish any right of ownership. This document shall then be concluded with the
legal advice obtained through the authorative methodology.
To begin with, looking at the sandstone model we can then identify its status and
ownership through its classification being established as either moveable or
heritable. However, if the structure is held to be moveable in nature and subject to
accession it would become the property of Lisa . The case of Zahnrad Fabrik Passau
GmbH v Terex Ltd. When looking at cases surrounding moveable property,
diminution of efficiency may result as the test of accession . With this in mind,
and applied to James case, the folly rests on its own weight although the site had
obviously been prepared for it , it is further established that the folly is in one part,
and needed to be removed by a crane to be replaced by a replica model due to
substantial damage . It can be easily established that the folly has been in situ for a
considerable amount of time and as illustrated in the case facts The plot was very

Argument Against The Legalization Of Homosexual
Marriage
Rhetorical Precis Austin Reynolds, in his term paper, k, proves with strong
assertations that there is evidence to support the legalization of homosexual
marriage, though many would argue that it will harm the sanctity of marriage and
harm the right to freedom of religion. Reynolds supports his ideas by expounding
upon the inequality that LGBT people are given and how gay marriage will bring
harm to no man, women, or child. The author s purpose is to inform the reader on
all aspects of gay marriage so they understand the controversial reasoning behind
the idea as well as the arguments against the proposal. Reynolds writes in a formal
tone for the American Studies English teachers at Granite Hills High School.
Introduction Imagine you live in a world where you can t ever be married to the
person you love. Thats it. No matter what you do you cannot marry them because
of a religious group. Imagine someone tells you that you can t eat a donut because
they are on a diet. Now lets come back to reality and discover that the imagining

Essay on Concord Bookstore
Concord Bookstore
University of Phoenix
Creating Change within Organizations HCS587
David Harrell
16 January, 2012 *
The Concord Bookshop is a small town bookstore with a 64 year history and a
cultural appeal enjoyed by the citizens of the town. In recent years the economic
environment created fierce competition for the bookstore, coupled with a need for
innovative technology meant a need for restructuring. The financial status of the
bookshop was in grave distress. Fearing financial ruin the board members made a
unanimous decision to implement significant changes. However, the board did not
take the necessary steps of including the appropriate stakeholders in the change
process and obtaining employee support. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Behaviour Change Change can be successful if a company or group within the
organization changes the way an individual presents oneself (Spector, 2010).
Behavior change is based on how an individual works within the environment. The
employees of Concord Bookshop were not consulted therefore did not have an
opportunity to verbalize their concerns or provide input to assist the company to
move the bookstore in a new direction. The management team was aware of the
financial distress and was willing to participate in any financial changes required.
The employees of the bookstore had an abundance of knowledge and experience that
may have contributed to ending financial turmoil (Schein, 2011). Open dialogue
between the employees and owners may have facilitated the development and
collaboration of new ideas in a competitive environment. The new strategies could
have provided a new direction for the bookstore. According to Burnes, in discussing
Kurt Lewin s Change Model, for change to be effective within a group there has to be
a collective approach by each member of the group (2004).
Conclusion
The Concord Bookshop was a well respected historical bookstore facing financial
challenges. While the bookstore employed knowledgeable and dedicated employees,
the owners and board members did not engage
Compare And Contrast Haritan And Japanese Feudalism
Japanese and the west European region has two different cultures, including how they
rule their land. However, Japanese feudalism in 1185 1333 and west European
feudalism in the 8th century to the 12th century, they both had similar societies built
on class hierarchy, with different philosophies and morals, and different religions
influencing the way they rule. Hence, showing that the two regions in two different
periods have many similarities with some differences that make them their own.
First, the two regions have similar class hierarchy societies. These class systems
were heredity so you were born into what you would be. With the constant warfare, is
made the warrior class the most important, these warriors worked for local lords. In
Japan, these warriors are known as samurais and were lowest class of aristocratic
nobility. In Japan, women were allowed to become a samurai and fight alongside the
men. In Western Europe, however, their warriors were called knights and were the
third in their class system. Contrasting the Japanese samurais, women were not
allowed to become knights. Both warrior classes were bound by codes, the samurais
had the Bushido code and the knights had the Code of Justinian.
The samurais philosophy included the Bushido code while the knights philosophy
contained the Code of Justinian. The Bushido code includes many rules on how
chivalrous men should act in their personal and professional lives. The Bushido
code gives eight different virtues of the samurai. They include: (1) Rectitude or
Justice, (2) Courage, (3) Benevolence or Mercy, (4) Politeness, (5) Honesty and
Sincerity, (6) Honor, (7) Loyalty, and (8) Character and Self Control. Some of these
rules include the first, rectitude or justice the Bushido states, Rectitude is one s
power to decide upon a course of conduct in accordance with reason, without
wavering; to die when to die is right, to strike when to strike is right. . It also says,
Rectitude is the bone that gives firmness and stature. Without the bones, the head
cannot sit on top of the spine and hands nor feet can stand. In addition, without
rectitude nothing like talent and learning cannot make the human frame into a
samurai. To preserve their own honor,
Privacy s Perception Of Privacy
This ever present, Big Brother like surveillance messes with people s perceptions
of their privacy. Naturally, when you are constantly being watched by someone or
something, you perceive a loss of privacy. People are concerned about privacy;
they are afraid that the digital systems they use on an everyday basis may bring
unwanted effects into their lives. (Lahlou, 2008, p. 300) In his article, Lahlou
presents an alternate way of viewing privacy that better SOMETHING HERE
Lahlou points out that Privacy was initially understood as the right to be left alone
and sometimes encryption. (Lahlou, 2008, p. 312) This definition seems like it

A back region or backstage can be defined as a place, relative, to a given
performance, where the impression fostered by the performance is knowingly
contradicted as a matter of course. (Goffman, 1959, p. 69) The information someone
presents about themselves in their front region differs from the information that
person presents in the back region.
Lahlou draws a Goffman s idea of a front and back stage to define what he calls the
face. He defines a face as a sort of expected role. The face is what a subject is at a
given moment. (Lahlour, 2008, p. 317) Different types of faces include expert, a
manager, a project member, a company employee, a friend, etc (Lahlou, 2008,
p.314) He defines being in private when one does not have to wear a specific face.
The transition from face to face could be analogous to the transition between front
stage and backstage. When a person is alone, they are a combination of all of their
faces; they do not have to put any particular face because there is no expected role
when they are alone.
In somewhat of a contrast to the traditional view of privacy, Lahlou claims that
privacy issues emerged from role conflicts between activities. (Lahlou, 2008, p.

Advertising Strategy
The advertising strategy was also to be an immediate market follower. J.D.B.T. s
advertisements were modified by comparing them to the top rated brands
advertisements. This worked well until R amp;D came into effect. Other companies
were able to advertise titles such as Highest Performance Processor, and Technical
Leader Most R amp;D. We had a decline in our advertising because we did not
strategize in the beginning to invest in the R amp;D as fully as other companies.
Sales Strategy
Our sales strategy was to open sales channels in areas that had low competition and
were centrally located. J.D.B.T. first opened sales offices in Los Angeles and
Berlin. We began to see a loss in our market share because other companies, that
were more aggressive in stronger markets, were coming into our markets and taking
the demand for our brands. J.D.B.T. needed to strategize to become more aggressive,
as a result, we expanded our sales channels and sales force into a multitude of regions
and markets.
Business Strategy and Performance for Second Year
Overall Business Strategy
J.D.B.T. s overall business strategy was competitive benchmarking on factors such as
price, brands, and advertising. After noticing a decline in our profits and market
demand, we added a competitive twist to our business strategy. We expanded our
sales channels,
Why I Don t Be A Professional
Being in charge of a group of children can be a tad bit overwhelming at times,
however once you realize that children don t care if your singing is horrible, or it
you mess up in the reading of the book. All they care about is that your taking time
to teach and interact with them. They want you to take the time to read them, and
play house with them. Listen to their silly stories as well as tell silly stories.
Children are curious about the world and only get the opportunity to be a childonce in
their life.

During group times we started out with a opening song and or finger play. We then
discussed the calendar and the weather of the day. Once that was complete we read
a story or acted out a story with flannel board pieces. This usually tied in with what
we were learning for the week. Such as back to school, dental hygiene, fall fun and

and maybe what was going to happen during the day. We would then sing some
more songs and then dismiss to go play at centers. Being able to successfully lead a

Disadvantages Of Natural Dyes
Since the pre historic era, natural dyes are common for their use in coloring of food
substrate, leather, wool, silk and cotton. The use of this eco friendly, non toxic and
non allergic natural dyes have become important in order to avoid some hazardous
synthetic dyes. However, given that the synthetic dyes are easier to use, cheap and
widely produced and available, the usage of natural dyes continues on decreasing
since the 19th century (Samanta, 2009).
Natural dyes produce very uncommon, soothing and soft shades as compared to
synthetic dyes. It is known that natural dyes produce unusual colors that appear to
be harmonizing. On the other hand, synthetic dyes are widely available at a
reasonable price and produce a variety of colors; these dyes however produce toxic ...

Dyeing Process
One of the key factors in the trading of successful textile products is the dyeing
process. This helps to beautify and enhance the fabric. Usually the consumers look to
some basic characteristics of product such as good fixation. This is to ensure to
maintain the properties, the substances that give color to fabric must contain high
affinity, resistance to fading and be economically feasible. First, drain the vinegar
mixture then pour the turmeric dye over the fabric into the pot; heat over medium
low flame. As the fabric left longer in the turmeric dye, the more vibrant the color.
Then afterwards, wash the fabric.
Rinse Well the Cloth Then Dry the Fabric.
Drain the turmeric dye then rinse the cloth under running water to remove excess
dye. Remember the dye can stain porcelain so rinse the cloth on a stainless steel sink
or even at an outdoor tap. Then let the fabric dry overnight to see better
American History X
The film American History X is rated by the users of IMDB.com (Internet Movie
DataBase) as one of the 50 best films ever made. It is a crime/drama, a very violent
film; not for the faint hearted. American History X was released in 1998, and it is
directed by Tony Kaye.

Edward Norton (Derek Vinyard)
Edward Furlong (Daniel Vinyard)
Avery Brooks (Dr. Bob Sweeney)
Stacy Keach (Cameron Alexander)

Jennifer Lien (Davina Vinyard)
Summary
The setting is in Venice Beach, USA, and tells the story about Derek Vinyard,

After the killing of his father, he becomes a white supremacist. Upon his release from
prison he has abandoned his neo Nazi ideologies, and we follow his struggle to keep
his family together, and stop his brother from following his footstep.
Derek is tall, well trained and strong, both physically and mentally. He has a
swastika tattooed on his chest, and before he is sentenced to prison he is a skin
head. After his prison stay he lets his hear grow back.
Edward Norton does a great job in the role, portraying Derek in an excellent way; he
was nominated for an Academy Award for his performance. He is said to be one of
the greatest actors in the world in his age group.
Comments and personal opinions
When showing scenes of Derek s life before prison, it is in black and white, no
colours. This is brilliant, it is easy to follow the progress in the film, and to figure out
what is past and what is present. This could have developed in to a lot of sentimental
talk and massive clishГЁs, but fortunately the director manages to avoid that trap.
Danny is the narrator in the film, he tells the story of Derek s life while writing the
essay about him. This is an interesting way of telling a story, makes it very alive .
American History X is a one to watch film. It touches on several important and
controversial topics, such as racism, illegal immigration, gangs, the fact that neo Nazi

The Lord s Preparing The First Generation
1.In section one of Numbers which is the Lord s Preparing the First Generation to
Enter the Promised Land covered in chapters one through ten there seems to a very
specific message that God desires to communicate to the original audience. Although
various opinions may exist regarding what this message may be the clearest
message that appears to be displayed is that God has various ordinances and rules
regarding the worship, day to day life, and travel of the Israelite nation which set
them apart from the nations around them and must be strictly followed and adhered
to. Chapter two of Numbers gives an account of the organization of the camp of the
Israelitesafter they had been numbered by tribe. Each tribe had a specific leader, a
specific head of each group of three thirds, and a specific location in which they
were supposed to camp relative to the tabernacle. The purpose for all of this was
set out by God in order to protect the ark and the tabernacle along with encampment
as a whole from the presence of God and invaders who sought to raid the
encampment. Chapters three and four along with seven, eight, nine, and ten all have
to do very specifically with the roles of the Levities and tabernacle worship and the
very strict guidelines that applied to both of these. The Kohathite clan of the Levities
which was to transport the sacred articles of the tabernacle was not permitted to ever
see the articles that they were carrying lest God strict them dead. In addition, in the
The Fault in Conceptual Artists Essay
This essay will focus on why and how conceptual artists sets out to destroy or
undermine the value of physical pleasure in art s making and reception. In order to
discuss this issue, first we need to look back on history to examine the historical
context of Conceptual Art. During 1960s, the world is in a turbulent state
experiencing all sorts of crises . After the World War One and the World War Two, the
traditional value and institutional system had been overthrown. The collapse of old
world politics, social order and authority, moreover, rise of Feminism, racial conflict
between white and black, intervention of Vietnam War forced artists to challenge the
conventional system and authority. In terms of technology, after the invention of...

In 1967, Paragraphs on Conceptual Art by Sol LeWittSol LeWitt was published, he
declares, In conceptual art the idea of concept is the most important aspect of the
work. When an artist uses a conceptual form of art, it means that all of the planning
and decisions are made beforehand and execution is a perfunctory affair. LeWitt
further explains, this mental process free the artists from the dependence on the
skill. In the Sentences on Conceptual Art by LeWitt published two year later, he
clearly stated that idea itself is art, 10. Ideas alone can be works of art; they are in a
chain of development that may eventually find some form,. All ideas need not be
made physical. In 1996, Joseph Kosuth gave another definition of Conceptual Art in
narrow sense, Conceptual Art, simply put, had as its basic tenet an understanding that
artists work with meaning, not with shapes, colours or materials.
Conceptual Art is formed within complex historical context, but the critique of What
makes a particular object or practice into art , stress ideas and concept rather than
modernist art form, is clearly influenced by Marcel Duchamp. Although he doesn t
see himself as a conceptual artist. His famous conceptual artwork Fountain stormed
the art world in 1917. Some meanings of this work demonstrate that Duchamp
brought influence on many conceptual artists and their works. First Duchamp negates
the originality of artwork, artwork is not necessary
Starbucks Case Study Essay
Starbucks is one of the most recognized brands in the world. Since 1971 Starbucks
has become synonymous with coffee which they used to embody the brand and
create a lifestyle behind it. Starbucks wants the world to know they have more to
offer than coffee and are committed to meeting the needs of society. We re not just
passionate purveyors of coffee, but everything else that goes along with a full and
rewarding coffeehouseexperience. It s not unusual to see people coming to Starbucks
to chat, meet up or even work (Starbucks). In addition to coffee Starbucks locations
keep a customer base by offering free Wi Fi, music, and partnerships with Barnes and

Capitalization is the American way and Starbucks shareholders are in favor of the
profit potential and so are market insiders who feel this may boost Starbucks
resume. Scott Bedbury, who was marketing chief for Starbucks and Nike back in the
1990s, says the evolution is critical for Starbucks and notes that wine sales could
bring in latte like profits (Horovitz, 2010). The biggest challenges for Starbucks is
gaining entry into this new market and retaining customer loyalty.
Starbucks understands the coffee and the liquor markets both require government
regulation. Since most of Starbucks coffee is grown by the company in/out of the
U.S. it s the percentage that is imported from foreign producers that will cause the
most challenge to Starbucks manufacturing revenue. In order of Starbucks to gain
entry to the wine and beer industry it will have to rely on its advantage on handling
government regulation, but the blending of markets will require some creative
strategies. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA), in the United Sates mandates
what products are sold for consumption in U.S. markets. Starbucks marketing
executives and shareholders know that imposing certain restrictions of foreign
imports by the government will limit competition by making it more costly. More
subtly, a firm can favor laws that raise its costs but raise competitors costs by more.

During your cruise vacation you will visit ports to shop, explore, beach, sightsee
or hike. There are a wide variety of activities in each cruise destination. Or you
could just depart the ship for a chance to walk around for a change of pace.
Although this is a great cruise adventure, you should realize that you will only get a
small sample of what each port of call has to offer. And be forewarned, as you step of
your majestic cruise ship there will be hordes of natives trying to sell you a trinket or
a tour around the city. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Things you should be aware of is how much the guide will be with you and do they
speak English clearly. Mostly the cruise lines have very competent tour guides, but
better safe than sorry. Will have any time on your like for shopping or stopping in
a cafГ©? It is very important to find out how much physical activity is required
before you sign on for any tour. If you have limited mobility you don t want to go
on a tour that climbs the Acropolis in Athens or Dunns River Falls in Jamaica. Find
out if a snack or lunch is provided, so if it isn t you can bring along adequate funds
to get your own.
There are private touring companies that you can contact on your own if you wish
to tour in a more private fashion. Another alternative is to buddy up with some
fellow cruisers and share taxi tours to cut your expense in half. Many times you
will meet people on a cruise that have similar interests and you will spend a lot of
time together on the cruise ship, why not touring also? It s a way to save money and
enjoy other passengers

Terrible Transportation In Las Vegas Terrible Transportation in Las Vegas The RTC, Regional Transportation Commission, is the only bus system all around the Las Vegas area and it covers most of the valley. People all over this vast city depend on this multicultural transit system, whether they are old, young, rich, or poor. Nevertheless, riding the busin Las Vegas is not only dangerous, it is time consuming, on top of being a filthy place to expose oneself to. The bus in this city is alarming to ride in many areas of the town as passengers make their way from point A to point B. The bus travels straight up and down each street without turning on most of its routes. As the bus repeatedly drives along its route it heads through some not so decent parts of town, this can be seen... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In just about every bus in the valley, a rider can see stains on the floor that are sometimes sticky from the drinks spilled throughout that single day even though drinks are not allowed on the bus. Along with icky floors comes gross windows or sometimes even gunk on the seats this is often from the children who smear their dirty fingers and faces all over the bus. Unfortunately, this junk is left on the bus all day for each passenger to see. Rather a repulsive sight when someone takes the time to think that even as often as the bus stops at the transit stations no one wipes the buses down between runs even with all the stops that a bus
  • 3. The United States And The Great Depression To Americans, Australia may seem like a completely distant and disconnected land just because of how far it is and because it is technically and island. However, the fact of the matter is that Australia, just like most of the places colonized by Great Britain, is still considered a western country. That along with the interconnectedness of a globalized economy makes it so that Australia is still affected, both positively and negatively, by the changes of the United States and Britain. Such was the case when the United States suffered what is now known as the great depressionin 1929. The great depression spread throughout most western countries and beyond and Australia was no exception. Australia was hit with the depression not long after the United States and it reached its peak in 1932. The depression hit Australia quite hard and the economic recovery was fairly slow and lasted until just about the beginning of the Second World War. This was partly due to having a number of badly implemented policies by a disputing government. While some say that it was the Premiers Plan that led the country out of the depression others argue that there was no one single policy or plan responsible but rather a combination of many. One act that had a hand in leading Australia out of the great depression was the devaluation of the currency. Explanation of chosen theory: To first understand the situation that Australia was in during the great depression and all of the events that lead to
  • 4. The Epic Of Gilgamesh Essay The story I wrote is an adaptation of The Epic of Gilgamesh by Herbert Mason. My adaptation is based off of the theme in the epic of personal growth and development. In The Epic of Gilgamesh, Mason conveys this theme by transforming Gilgamesh from a tyrant to his people (15) to a ruler who was awed at the heights his people had achieved (92), determined to better the lives of the citizens of Uruk. At the beginning of the story, Gilgamesh is a greedy, obnoxious king, with little to no respect for anyone. Later, however, after many journeys and a loss, Gilgamesh sees light at the end of tunnel. The ruler experiences normal life, having to endure hardship, and the loss of a friend. He doesn t get what he wants, as he normally would as a king. Through this grief and... We see Gilgamesh transform from a selfish deity to a compassionate mortal as the story progresses. In my adaptation, I am striving to maintain the elements of Gilgamesh that make the epic unique. The three main characters of the epic were A) Gilgamesh and his large ego, B) Enkidu and his loss of innocence, and C) Utnapishtim, and his guidance and second chances. The three main events of the epic were A) the capturing of the Forest of Humbaba, B) the death of Enkidu, and C) Utnanpishtim giving Enkidu a second chance to live by providing Gilgamesh with a flower to revive his lost friend. I decided to make my adaptation about a convenience store being robbed, to imitate the Forest of Humbaba being captured. I have one character, Jimmy, who acts as Gilgamesh by convincing his guiltless friend, Derek, to rob the store with him. Jimmy has a very commanding presence in my story. He also gets

Feudalism means a government whereby political power is exercised in a local manner by individuals rather than in a bureaucracy of the centralized government. During this period political activities were all about personal affairs which were based on the individual loyalty rather the loyalty of the people or political system. In my opinion, these driving forces only dampen the industry thus allowing only early movers to be the most likely to survive the competition of this industry. li value= 3 Is the industry attraction? Basing my decision on Porter s five forces model, I would have to say that the EV industry in unattractive. This is because anyone can enter into the industry thus creating too much competition which will drive prices down. This driving of prices downward will cause new entrants into the business to see no real profit growth. Also, new products being created keeps giving consumers new ideas to buy. This also makes it harder for businesses in the EV industry to find ways to make buyers choose their business. Also, suppliers have strong bargaining power so industries have a difficult time trying to shop around for the best prices on the parts they need. However, Zap was an early mover and is a current market leader in

  • 10. Mental Disorders And Physical Disorders The world has come a long way in understanding mental disorders, but even in today s society they are still not treated the same way as physical disorders. It is true we are no longer killing people for having a mental disorder because of the belief it is a demon possessing them, but we still have a long way to go in correcting how we still treat those with these disorders. The two have their differences, but mental and physical disorders are equal in how they are both illnesses deserving the same respect and treatment. Mental disorders are diseases of the brain that cause impairment in one s behaviors, thoughts, or moods. On the other hand, physical disorders are diseases that cause pain to the physical body itself. By definitions, both mental disorders and physical disorders are both diseases. These two types of disorders are similar in the way that they both have symptoms, they can be treated with modern medicine, and they both alter the lives of those who live with them. They are both considered medically to make people sick, so why do people still react to mental disorders as if they are lesser than physical disorders? To this day mental disorders are still questioned and looked down upon in ways that physical disorders could never even compare, and that needs to change. Examples of this difference in treatment is shown immediately throughout the early stages of a diagnosis. When someone is diagnosed with a physical disorder, most people never feel the need to hide

There was a strong concern to counteract the colonialists assumptions and practices of the dominant, formal means of education, which he saw as enslaving and oriented towards western interest and norms. It was designed to transmit the values of the colonizing power and to train individuals for the service of the colonial state. It induced attitudes of subservience, human inequality and individualism, and emphasized white collar skills. The context of colonial education was largely alien and the entire system was organized by racial segregation. For Nyerere who was once a teacher himself, he believed that education had to work for the common good, foster co operation and promote equality. He asserted that the school curriculum should go hand in hand with de emphasizing the import of formal examinations which merely assesses a person s ability to learn facts. He said it was necessary for African states to abandon examinations that are geared towards

Along with a group of proteins called kinesins superfamily proteins (KSFs), the cilia also play an important role in SHH signaling. The proteins found in this family serve a variety of functions relating to microtubule regulation, such as KIF4A and KIF21A. KIF4A controls microtubule length during celldivision, whereas KIF21A inhibits microtubule growth at the cell cortex. The level of activity of Gli genes, and thus Hh pathway activation, determines skin tumor phenotype: high level signaling is shown to result in BCC and low level signaling is shown to result in follicular derived tumors such as basaloid follicular hamartoma (BFH) (2). Gli2 is involved in the expression of cell cycle regulation genes in the Shh pathway such as E2F1, CCND1, CDC2 and epidermal differential genes. Over expression of Gli2 causes the up regulation of such cell cycle regulation genes in developing hair follicles. Shh activation most specifically promotes degradation of the p53 tumor suppressor gene (2), thus repressing transcription of p21, a key suppressor of cyclin E in cell cycle regulation. Thus, G1 arrest is overrode, and the inability to control cell cycle is promoted: a key feature of cancer. Sufu and Kif7 have overlapping functions in regulating Gli transcription factors. Specifically, Gli2 forms a complex with Sufu to prevent transcriptional activity via preventing accumulation of Gli2 transcriptional factors into the nucleus, thus repressing Hh pathway transduction (3). Sufu also plays a role in stabilizing Gli2 by blocking Spop, an E3 ligase involved in degradation of Gli2 (3). In keratinocytes, Kif7

Each and every day, the prisoners see nothing, but the shadows of the objects and people passing between them and the fire. For their entire lives, the prisoners are exposed to nothing but those images and the sounds made by those walking around. These shadows are all they have ever known, in essence; these shadows are their only reality . As time passed, the prisoners would grow accustomed to these sights, later on the prisoners would match the objects with names and the familiar sounds to the images of the shadows (514; Appendix A). In discussing the allegory with Glaucon, Socrates toys around the concept of what could happen to a prisoner should they be released after having lived their lives in the cave, with the only knowledge the possess of the world, are the images and sounds by the wall. Humans most commonly scapegoat their enemies, or the entirely innocent, for their internal issues as a means of coping for their insecurities or explaining the irrational or biased situations they find themselves in. Similarly, others cope just as easily by lying to themselves, which can establish a false reality in the mind of the self deceiver and, ultimately, leads to fallacies in logic. Analysis Of Bury Me In A Free Land Reading a poem written by Frances Watkins Harper, is like being transported to the 1800 s; one minute the reader is sitting in a chair reading the first stanza of what seems a simple poem, and before one knows it, they are an abolitionist watching a family being torn apart at a slave auction. Harper does this transporting through her use of tone. A writer creates a particular tone in his or her writing using literary tools like characterization, diction, or theme. Harper strongly protests against slaveryand portrays the horrid realities of slavery, in several of her poems, and accomplishes this through the use of diction and imagery. Each poem has its own tone, and a writer may use diction or word choice to convey a certain mood. For example, Harper s, Bury Me in A Free Land, poem shows how diction can play a role in conveying a dismal tone. In the beginning of the poem Harpers word choice for the last line of the first stanza, conveys a since of rebellion when she writes, But not in a land where men are slaves (4). Here the word men is referencing the deep inequality between people, without having to mention race. This also evokes a since of deflated pride; being buried in a country where human beings are treated as cattle. All men are supposed to be created equal , but Harper makes it clear that some men are not being treated as such. Behavior change is based on how an individual works within the environment. The employees of Concord Bookshop were not consulted therefore did not have an opportunity to verbalize their concerns or provide input to assist the company to move the bookstore in a new direction. The management team was aware of the financial distress and was willing to participate in any financial changes required. The employees of the bookstore had an abundance of knowledge and experience that may have contributed to ending financial turmoil (Schein, 2011). Open dialogue between the employees and owners may have facilitated the development and collaboration of new ideas in a competitive environment. The new strategies could have provided a new direction for the bookstore. According to Burnes, in discussing Kurt Lewin s Change Model, for change to be effective within a group there has to be a collective approach by each member of the group (2004). Although various opinions may exist regarding what this message may be the clearest message that appears to be displayed is that God has various ordinances and rules regarding the worship, day to day life, and travel of the Israelite nation which set them apart from the nations around them and must be strictly followed and adhered to. Chapter two of Numbers gives an account of the organization of the camp of the Israelitesafter they had been numbered by tribe.
