Policy Essay Topics
Writing an essay on the topic of "Policy Essay Topics" can be both challenging and rewarding.
The difficulty lies in the extensive and ever-evolving nature of policy-related subjects, which
often require in-depth research and a comprehensive understanding of complex issues. Crafting a
well-informed and persuasive essay demands not only a grasp of relevant policies but also the
ability to analyze their implications, historical context, and potential future developments.
Additionally, the task involves synthesizing information from various sources, ranging from
academic journals to government reports and policy documents. The writer must navigate
through diverse perspectives and conflicting opinions, striving to present a balanced and
nuanced view of the chosen policy area. Formulating a strong thesis statement and structuring
the essay in a logical and coherent manner are crucial elements, adding another layer of
complexity to the process.
Moreover, staying updated with the latest developments in policy landscapes is essential to
ensure the essay remains relevant and addresses current issues. This dynamic nature of policy
topics requires continuous engagement with the subject matter, making the writing process more
challenging.
Despite the challenges, writing an essay on policy topics can be a rewarding experience. It allows
the writer to delve deep into societal issues, critically evaluate policies, and contribute to
meaningful discussions. The process hones research, analytical, and communication skills,
fostering a deeper understanding of the intricate relationships between policy decisions and their
real-world impact.
In conclusion, tackling a policy essay requires dedication, thorough research, and analytical
thinking. It is a task that demands both time and effort but offers the satisfaction of contributing
to the discourse on critical societal matters.

Kinship is the cornerstone for how people within a society relate to others and race
lineages. Many societies trace their lineage through the father, which is called
patrilineal, or through the mother which is called matrilineal. The Iroquois nation
traced their kinship through the matrilineal decent lines. Kinship directly relates to
how family groups think, act and live along side each other. The culture of the
Iroquois can also be compared to how many American families relate to one another
as well.

Often times there are couples that get married but have chosen not to stay with one
another because of a difference in opinion, this is called divorce.
Iroquois and divorce Often time s couples marry only to find out that they have a
difference of opinion or one spouse has caused serious marital strain on the other.
Since the Iroquois couples lived matrilineally, this makes it easier for the woman to
dissolve the marriage, keep her children and continue to live at home with her
family. If a woman no longer desired to be married to her husband, all she had to do
was pack up her husband s belongings and leave them on the steps of the longhouse.
When he came home, the husband would find them, realize his wife had terminated
the marriage, and return to his home village and his own patrilineage. (Nowak, B.
amp; Laird, P. 2010 chapter 4.5 Divorce) In the American culture it is more difficult
to obtain a divorce.
Americans and divorce Americans divorce for the same reasons the Iroquois
divorced for however, in the American culture it is harder to divorce. Many times
couples divorce because of infidelity of one or both of the spouses, or from
irreconcilable differences. In order to obtain a divorce in America many states
require the couple to attend counseling to see if they can fix their marriage.
Sometimes this is successful and the couple will stay together and often times it is
not possible for the couple to stay together so they will then obtain a divorce
The Dataset Diabetes Details From Efron Et Al
Individual Project 1
Introduction
This report will cover the dataset diabetes details from Efron et al.(2003).
Throughout this report, we will explore the potential relationship between the ten
predictor variables: age, sex, BMI, average blood pressure, and six blood serum
measurements (tc, ldl, hdl, tch, ltg, glu) on a quantitative measure of disease
progression one year after the baseline. There are 442 diabetes patients, or records in
the dataset. In this report, we will explore different methods and cross validation
techniques to understand these sample datasets leveraging linear regression, ridge
regression, lasso method and metrics like our MSE, the mean prediction error and
standard errors of the test dataset. First, we will ... Show more content on

With the positive coefficients, we will see an increase in one unit of each variable
separately compared with the advancement in diabetes. With a 0.05 parameter, the
linear regression model selects 5 predictor variables with significance, age, tc, ldl,
tch, and glu. To validate the assumption, we can plot the residuals versus the fitted
values to see if there are any indications of signs of random distributions. For the
residual plot, we see there are no indications or violations of random distribution and
can calculate the MSE of the model, which is 3111.265. Next, we will leverage the
best subset method to select the predictor variables that are truly impactful to the
model.
Best Subset Model
With our best subset method, we can leverage our lowest BIC metric to select the
best model. We can plot out best subset method and pinpoint the number of
variables to select. The plot below showcases that the lowest point or value of BIC,
contains 6 variables. We leverage the BIC metric because it places a penalty on
models with more or many variables. Meaning, the mode variable a model has, the
bigger the penalty. We can review the coefficients, standard errors, t value, and the p
values for the best subset method with the significant six variables. Our MSE metric
for the 6 variable best subset model is 3090.483, a slight decrease from our linear
regression model.

Graffiti Shot Essay
This shot from Theo s perspective is a medium long shot of an angry mob
senselessly throwing rocks and shouting at the train for no particular reason. There is
no dialogue or music in this shot but we can still hear the announcement going on in
the train, we can hear the angry shouting of the mob and the impact of the rocks
hitting the train. This may have been done by the director to again make the
audience focus on the background of the shot rather than on theo. The security bars
on the train s window might suggest that this type of attacks have happened in the
past and seem to be quite regular, therefore they have taken safety measures to
protect the passengers on the train. However the way the director shows the railing

The Historical Context In The Catcher In The Rye
The historical context in The Catcher in the Rye reveals the book was written
during a period of anguish. As stated by Daniel Burt, ...a prosperous postwar period
that gave rise to suburban conformity and teenage angst, (Burt 2). This quote states
that what was going on in society at that time was how Holden was feeling. The
feeling of teenage rebellion and depression were taking over his life and leading
him to do immoral things. Based on the quote above, we can see how Holden
created a cultural mordancy that his readers can easily detect, leading to the
thought that this book was created under the impression of loss and a world gone
wrong. Burt writes, Salinger s novel, observes Louis Menand, provides adolescents
with a layer of psychic insulation. Critic Harold Bloom speaks to the novel s
enduring influence when he states, The Catcher in the Rye struck a nerve for one
generation, but it seems to appeal to sensitive young people in later generations as
well... (Burt 3). This quote states that the novel has created a huge impact on society
and has left an image that the book can be quite insulting. Because of this, we can
see that this book is not only a mockery of society but is unfit for teens to read.
According to Hochman and Mueller, Whether Holden s sense of society and culture
comes from rebelling against prep school, family, friends, teachers, maturation, and
even death, his character continuously scrapes against the grain of societal pressures

Is The Concept Of Prokaryotic Valid And Useful Or...
Is the concept of prokaryotes valid and useful or fundamentally flawed? Since the
establishment of the basic concept of classification of organisms by Carl Linnaeus
(Encyclopaedia Britannica) and Charles Darwin s theory of evolution, various
ideas and concepts have been suggested. After being repeatedly reviewed by a
number of experts, some of them are accepted and this has enabled scientists to
classify organisms, to recognise the connections between them despite of different
physical appearance and to improve the understanding of evolutionary relationship
between them. However, as time goes by and technology develops, the unknown
aspects of organisms are being discovered and it arises several controversial points
regarding the concepts and the principle of taxonomy. This essay will address one
of those controversies, the validity of the concept of prokaryotes. Humankind
needed a guideline in order to comprehend the nature of organisms. For that reason,
scientists began to arrange organisms formally into groups called taxa. Ernst Mayr
defined taxon as a single taxonomic group of any level that is unique and
independent from other groups. (Mayr, 1981) Since then, several diverse hypotheses
were suggested and majority of scientists agreed to classify organisms into two major
domains, eukaryotes and prokaryotes. At that time, the principle of two domains
seemed to be fairly reasonable and was widely accepted amongst scientists. Since
then, the same definitions for those two
How The Process Of Human Digestion Works
How the process of human digestion works is it starts with your mouth, the
digestion starts as soon you take your first bite of your meal. When you chew it
helps the process by making it easier for the food to digest. Also the saliva mixes
with the food so that it can form it into something that the body can absorb and use.
The next place the food goes is the pharynx (throat), then the esophagus or swallowing
tube. The esophagus gets the food from the throat to the stomach. After the stomach is
the small intestineit continues the breaking down process of the food by using
enzymes released by the pancreas and bile from the liver. There are 3 other organs
that help the small intestine break down the food we eat. They are pancreas, liver, and

Communication
Oral communication is the process in which information or messages are exchanged
among individuals or groups using voice as the medium. It is one of the most
common and frequently used forms of communication because it can be used in
many daily situations and activities. Oral communication can be either formal or
informal. Examples of informal oral communication include ... Show more content on

It is also not a form of communication that can be used as a form of documentary
evidence. In some situations, even strong verbal skills can not substitute for putting
things in writing. For example, important information that needs to be documented
using writing and some type of written record is required in the business world.
Effective oral communication follows some basic principles in order to make sure
that the message is conveyed across properly. It is important to ensure that the
words are pronounced clearly and are delivered in the correct pace, pitch and tone.
It is recommended to ensure the message contains clear, brief and accurate
information, but not complicated sentences and jargons. Information and idea in the
message should be organized in a sequential and attractive way so that the audience
can understand the message easily. It is also important to establish an eye contact
and to modulate body language based on the message. For example, a strict order
can be conveyed better when communicated with a formal and stern body language
as opposed to a casual and friendly one.
Conflict Management
Conflict management is the practice of being able to identify and handle conflicts
sensibly, fairly, reasonably and efficiently. It is important that there are people who
understand conflicts and know how to resolve them because conflicts happen
naturally in any business and workplace. Conflict
Decision By Graham Allison
In 1971, Graham Allison published The Essences of Decision, in which he
suggested three perspectives one might use to analyze a major decision
(Nahavandi, Denhardt, Denhardt, Aristigueta, 2015). These three perspectives
allow every decision to have a potentially different outcome depending on which is
used to make the decisions. The rational model, the organizational process model,
and the governmental politics model or collaborative models have been used to
analyze many different decisions. Out of the three options for analyzing major
decisions the best suited for answering the question of whether it is worth
increasing to 18,000 tests per period to accommodate rising demand from the
current 12,000 test per period would be the rational model. The rational model is a
cognitive process which weighs the outcomes and alternatives though a step by
step process allowing emotion to be set aside (Rational Decision Making Process,
2015). This process is comprised of five steps which help individuals or groups
come to a final qualified decision. The first step is the pre analysis phase; this
includes identifying and defining the situation as well as the desired end results.
There are many options available to an individual or group decision maker when it
comes to this step. . Utilizing a focus group or brainstorming can give the final
decision maker the most reasonable and well thought out options available. Regarding
the decision at hand there are many variables that

Another major problem banks have had to content with is the inconsistency in
monetary and regulatory policies. The surveillance and regulatory measures of the
Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) have unfortunately been unable to keep the pace with
the rapidity of the charges in the financial system.
All these factors deregulation, competition, innovation, economic recession, political
instability, escalating inflation, and frequent reversal in monetary policy have
combined to create a challenging and precarious financial environment for banks.
Consequence of the new financial environment has been rapidly declining
profitability of the traditional banking activities. Thus, in a bid to survive and
maintain adequate profit level in this highly competitive environment, banks have
tended to take excessive risks. But, then the increasing tendency for greater risk
taking has resulted in insolvency and failure of a large number of the banks [9].
The continuing deterioration in the financial health of the banks and increasing
incidence of bank failure since deregulation have raised question about the nature and
state of the Nigerian banking sector. 1. Statement of the Problem
It is a known fact that banks play

Analysis Of The Book Dreams By Christopher Nolan
Running head: INCEPTION PERCEPTION
Inception Perception

AP Psychology Inception Perception Inception is a film about dreams and being
able to explore people s subconscious by entering their dreams directed by
Christopher Nolan (Nolan, 2010). Dom Cobb is the main character who must plant
an idea into a billionaire s son s mind, to break up his father s empire. This is not
Cobb s motive though, he is only doing this to be able to return to his children. He
needs the pardon from Saito, who hired him to perform the inception, because he is
believed to have killed his wife. The truth is that she killed herself and left in her will
that he killed her, to encourage Cobb to commit suicide with her. She believed that...

The idea of exploring someone s subconscious is the dream state, which is when you
enter someone s dream. This is designed by the architect and filled with projections
of the person s subconscious. In the state, your conscious is lowered and if not
previously informed of entering the dream state, you will perceive it as reality. If
you enter a dream within a dream, you are delving deeper into the person s
subconscious. That is where secrets and important information is kept within your
layers of consciousness. If you delve deep enough, you will reach the edge of your
subconscious. This is dangerous though because to return to reality, you need the
kick to be synchronized among all the layers of the subconscious. If you spend too
long in the dream state, the lines of reality and dreaming can become blurred. In
the movie, Cobb and his team are delving into Fischer s subconscious to plant the
idea for him to break up his father s empire (Nolan, 2010). To do this, they must go
very deep and plant the simplest of ideas, so his subconscious will run with it so
consciously he will make the decision. They used him and his father s relationship,
because that is the root of the idea they need to plant. It is not revealed in the movie
though if the inception worked (Nolan, 2010). To be conscious is to have awareness
of ourselves and our environment (Myers, 2011). Freud proposed the idea the our
conscious was divided into the conscious, preconscious, and unconscious. The

The Creation of Shelter in Pre-Colonial North Australia...
The Creation Of Shelter In Pre Colonial Far North Australia And New Zealand
Shelter has always been a necessity for mankind. We, as humans, have a relationship
with the land that we must respect to live happily amongst it. Spaning back as far as
the pre Colonial Australia, indigenous Australians understood this connection
excellently. Their shelters seemed to bend with the land as they understood crucial
elements within the architecture to compensate for distinctive climate and cultural
factors to fit their nomadic lifestyle. Their living style was very minimalistic yet
practical. The indigenous Australians only built what they needed to survive. For
evidence of this, we will be looking at the text; Gunyah, Goondie and Wurley: the ...

Similar to conservation of food and environment, their architectural style was also
minimalistic.
The far north indigenous tribes of Australia centralised their camps and villages in
the proximity of a running stream. This ensured that their food sources weren t
toxic plants, that they had an abundance of riverine species such as crayfish, eels
and fish, the construction of earth oven with river sand and rock for manufacturing
nutcrackers and axes7. These sorts of villages were constructed quite permanently
to facilitate older relatives in a cool and providing place whist other tribe members
continued to move from place to place8. Building near a stream was a sustainable
idea as the surrounding area was far less dense, they didn t need to clear much
spaces to build a camp. They would aim for places with much sun light to escape the
constant wet environment of the rainforest.9 They had to take care that the ground
was semi elevated to ensure the camp was not flood prone, that the river they were
camped next to would not rise too much. In these base camps, more permanent dome
structures were built. The indigenous understood the different between structures that
would support them for longer periods of time and that of a nomadic lifestyle.
Similarly, the early settlements of the first New Zealanders were often at harbors or
the mouths of rivers which were close to the sea. This provided them with good

The Success Of The Great Depression
The Great Depression built itself out of a time when farm systems failed, people
in factories were losing money and jobs, the stock market crashed, and no one had
much confidence that anything good was going to happen ever again. Some
thought it was going to be over quickly. Shortly after the big crash in October
1929, Andrew W. Mellon, the Secretary of the Treasury said, The government s
business is in sound condition . The truth was that no one s business was in good
condition and would not get better for quite a long time. People living on farms had

The biggest event that got the Great Depression going was the crash that started on
October 24, 1929. It was called Black Thursday. A few days later on October 29,
1929, things got even worse. Stocks fell to the point of losing all value and banks
started calling in loans that no one could pay back. This date became known as
Black Tuesday . The losses were over 30 billion dollars by the next month. People
were dying because of how farming methods and a drought destroyed crops, and
people all over the United States had no food or shelter. Panicked sellers were
trading shares on the New York Stock Exchange that had been overvalued, and
finally the banks that kept every one s money lost it all. The next several years
were terrifying according historical records. The middle class was disappearing
and life was cut into two groups; the haves and the have nots . The group that made
the biggest part of the have nots were the people who lived in rural areas. Parents
who lost their jobs had to let their children be forced to leave from going to school.
They had to work in factories and other places for low wages to help save their
families. People who lived in the cities did not have it any better. Families were
getting evicted all the time. In places like Philadelphia, nursery school children
played a game called the eviction game. They would pile their toy furniture into a

Analysis Of Tim Willis s The At T Summer Bridge
When I first arrived to the AT T Summer Bridge, one of the first people I meet was
Tim Willis. He was heaver involved the project aspect of the camp, but still present
in that time. The more I talked to him the more interesting his experiences were. He
then invited me to check out the Sooner off Road team, and joined the team. Tim is
in his senior year of school and is the person with a lot of experience in the
Mechanical Engineeringfield before graduation. His interest was more through
tinkering with things. From a young he found it fun to design, build, and test
things in his free time. During this time, he joined the Boys Scouts of America and
became an Eagle Scout in the organization. To achieve this rank he created a Man
made waterfall in a stream as a final project. I was told by him it was very
challenging, but after that he finds a challenge and tackles it head on. However, the
greatest challenge he had to tackle was in 2011. During that year Tim was a junior in
high school, his house was hit by a tornado.
Everything I owned was gone. The only thing I had were the clothes on my back.
This thought me a lesson in humbleness, through the whole process of getting back
to where we were. I mean we went from having a home to being homeless. It made
me realize that things don not last forever.
Tim s family was able to get back to where they were, but he will always remember
this experience.
Afterwards, this short story Tim told me how he got interested in Mechanical
Greetings By Patricia Highsmith
Greetings ________, Recently I have read a novel by Patricia Highsmith known as
the talented Mr. Ripley, which carries excitement and irony throughout the book.
This book is about Tom Ripley, twenty three year old con man, who is almost
certain a police officer is approaching him; however it appeared to be one of his ex
friend s fathers, Mr. Greenleaf. Mr. Greenleaf has been looking for Tom to request if
he is able to set sail to Italy to persuade his son, Dickie, in returning to New York. As I
continued to read on, many situations captured my attention, such as traveling to
Italy, the 1950 s style of regulations and amusement, and etc. Many of these
circumstances made the book more tempting to follow, constructing a sense of

Leadership Reflection On Leadership And Leadership
Leadership Reflection
Vincent E. M. Panuccio
COM 610 Leadership
Due: Dec 13, 2014
I ve learned that there is no one leader in any team. There are many different things
that someone can do within a team to be a leader and show their leadership skills.
To me leadership is when someone in a team passes along knowledge or skills to
someone else in the team. This knowledge or skill passed along must be beneficial
and must be new knowledge and a new experience for the person being led. Anyone
can be a leader if given the right resources. This belief has really shown me that it is
a lot easier to be a leader than I had once thought. You don t have to be the one in
charge or the one with the most power to be a leader. There is usually more than one
leader in every team. It is easier to have people who are different in a team because it
makes it easier for everyone to showcase their skills and show their leadership. My
thought process about leadership now, is fairly different than what I had thought
at the beginning of this semester. I still do believe in some of my original beliefs,
but I now understand more what it is to show leadership and actually be a leader.
At the beginning of the semester we answered the question, What is leadership? I
wrote, Being able to have others follow you in a respectable way. Guiding other to
help them achieve a goal(s). Some qualities I wrote down about a leadership were:
equality, and being able to follow
Climate Change in Peru Essay
Peru is a nation composed of heterogeneous ecosystems including the coastline of the
Pacific Ocean, deserts, the Andes Mountains including the glacial regions, and the
second largest portion of the Amazon Forest Basin (US AID, 2011). Its heterogeneity
creates such a dire situation for Peru in terms of climate changeand the effects it has
on each individual system as well as the effects on wildlife and human occupants that
live in these regions. In Peru, the climate changes that have been taking place have
led to several disastrous outcomes that include not only draught, but have also led to
depletion of the Amazon Rain Forest, an increase in disease, extreme temperature
changes, glacial ablation, extreme weather, and changes in the... Show more content

Cirilo Quispe Latorre, the mayor of Cachimayo district recalls how the climate has
change just since he was younger: The rains used to start in October, and we
would plant broad beans, wheat, and potatoes. Now the rains begin around mid
December, and we lose more than a month and a half of growing time. (Hufstader,
2009). Latorre goes on to say that the rains, which once ended in April now end in
March. This significantly diminishes the amount of time that farmers have to
produce crops which in turn has led to decreases in the output of crops in the last
twelve years (Hufstader, 2009). However, according to the USAID report on Peru,
annual rainfall percentages have not changed drastically over the last 40 years.
There has been an increase in the coastal regions and highlands (where most of
farming takes place), a decrease in the jungle areas, and little change anywhere else
(US AID, 2011).What has changed though, is the extent of the drought periods which
cannot be alleviated by the intense periods of rain (US AID, 2011). This issue could
be helped in the long term by utilizing more advanced irrigation methods that could
store water during the intense rains to help alleviate some of the burden of the long
droughts.
One of the most significant effects of climate change in the region has been the
devastating effects of the melting glaciers. These glaciers often provide an extra
source of water for farming regions, storing water in the rainy season and

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) funded Living River program, that
was created by the Sonoran Institute, has the goal to enhance the wetland
ecosystems that are located in the lower Santa Cruz River and enhance the
comprehension of the wetland conditions as well as increase the knowledge of the
importance of the wetlands to the public (Pima County Arizona, 2017c). Along with
the EPA, the Regional Optimization Master Plan (ROMP) is also involved in this
program. ROMP is an important environmental factor because it is working towards
better water quality, clarity, and an enhanced environment for wildlife. It has done
this by upgrading the two main wastewater treatment plants that release to the Lower
Santa Cruz River (Pima County Arizona, 2017c). ROMP has been successful with
treating the wastewater and has been a very important contribute to making this
water better for the environment and the community. On average, Pima County gets

States which is 4.3 (Sperling s BestPlaces, 2017b). This puts Pima County in the high
exposure category where defense against sunburn is a necessity (United States
Environmental Protection Agency, 2004). This high UV index can also lead to basal

How much is too much money for you? . While obviously I couldn t ask to raise the
budget to something unfeasible, with more aircraft carriers than every other country

a couple of tenths of a percent from our defense budget to our NASA budget, if not, a

Reasoning for this is two fold. One being that when NASA s budget was at its
highest back in the 60 s during the Apollo missions, a study was conducted
examining the financial impact of the billions spent on putting a man on the moon.
The study found that the roughly $25 billion spent during those years was $52

to find a person or persons criminally liable for actions committed by another

all criminal charges against him in the criminal side. However, the Robert and
Marian Tolan felt that the lower court s decision was not fair. I do agree with the
Tolans. I believe that courts did not take the evidence that was present to them
inconsideration that Cotton was guilty. Cotton carelessly made an error on typing in
the car tag number that Robert Tolan and his cousin was driving. Since, he made that
mistake he is responsible criminal and civil. He should have been since to prison

hand Cotton was found not criminal liability for the charges in criminal court but
Tolan took his case to the Supreme Court. Cotton then was found responsible in civil

Theories Of Masculinity
The term masculinity connotes certain attributes that are associated with men. In
today s postmodern world gender theorists prefer the more fluid term masculinities
because male attributes change throughout space and time (Reeser 2). Discourse
shows that masculinity is a fabrication or a construct of a given historical cultural
context (ibid.).
The first theory of masculinity as a personal identity was introduced by Sigmund
Freud (Roper 361) whereas in the Victorian and Edwardian periods the word
manliness was used. It had a fixed meaning, could not be amended to individual
properties of men and had to be achieved to be seen as a true man (cf. Whitehead 15).
Usually the meaning associated with manliness is dictated by those ... Show more

Edwardian soldiers should leave behind the former image of ideal masculinity
which consisted of Christian virtues like straightforwardness, manly simplicity,
openness and transparent honesty (Newsome 195) and compassion, fairness, and
altruism (Roper 347) to a more aggressive identity which reflected the needs of the
army. Society believed to identify the perfect manly individual from his physical
appearance, gestures, and speech (Nye 420) rather than his inner qualities.
Ultimately, the Great War provided an opportunity to prove one s character (cf.
Roper 344). However, this failed because modern warfare imposed mass casualties
so that willpower and hardness could not help to comply to [heroic gender] roles
(Carden Coyne 111). New military tactics like chemical weaponry, aviation and heavy
artillery made close combat impossible (cf. ibid. 1). Under these circumstances many
men suffered from mental breakdowns, then known as shell shock (cf. Winter 9).
Doctors regarded the hysterical or neurotic male as an unpatriotic, welfare dependent,
and unmanly shirker (Crouthamel 62). Correspondingly, nervous complaints [were]

The Role Of Genomics And Proteomics Fields
A relatively premature science, genomics has the potential to advance the quality of
life for any organism on earth. It will give researchers the ability to gain finally a
proper understand of ourselves, and the organisms around us, on a molecular level.
The scientists participating in the HGP were the first ones to take this idea and make
it reality. With several institutes working around the world, they aimed to provide a
complete understanding of the human genome and proteomics, the study of proteins.
Recently, there has been an influx of new technologies allowing studies of thousands
of genes, single nucleotide polymorphisms, RNAs, and proteins. This flood of

By the year 1994, there were more than 130 people working to unravel the genetic
basis of human life. The Sanger Institute s first goals were to map the genome of the

Degraded Role of Women in The Merry Wives of Windsor
In Shakespeare s comedy, The Merry Wives of Windsor, there are two plots that
ultimately converge into the concept of marriage; one is the antics executed by the
wives, and the other is the marriage of Anne Page. Both of these plots subversively
yield a disheartening attitude towards the view of women within the scope of the
play. Wives in The Merry Wives of Windsor are not acknowledged as much beyond

Non Traditional Gender Roles And Identity Essay
Discuss the issues associated with non traditional gender roles and identity. Many
professions are traditionally occupied by one gender over the other, identified as
occupational segregation (Hoffnung et al., 2013). Furthermore, Hoffnung and
colleagues (2013), state that females are often perceived as carrying the burden of
parenthood and general domestic chores, often in positions such as domestic labour.
Whereas males are traditionally employed in positions with lower social demands, in
more quantitatively and physically demanding positions. During the last thirty years
there has been a notable increase of females into traditionally male roles, however this
has not been the case for males entering female dominated roles (Hoffnung et al.,
2013). Although there are growing numbers of men entering nursing, they still
account for a small minority of the workforce, unrepresentative of society (Weaver,

They are therefore constantly trying to establish their masculinity, having to prove

Tao Qian was governor of Xu province during the late Eastern Han Dynasty of
China and one of China s greatest poets. Qian spent 13 years as a government
official at different posts. Afterwards, he became magistrate of Pengze and held
this position for eighty days before suddenly resigning. Qian s decision to resign
was based primarily on his disgust with the excessive formality and widespread
corruption of the government at that time. He gathered up his wife and children and
moved to his family farm to pursue a life of self sufficiency and reclusiveness. Qian
believed that nature was a haven from administration and office; he thought
individuals must remove themselves to the countryside to bring them back to being
one with nature. While some may argue that Tao Qian s idea of seclusion from the
chaos of the world made him a recluse, I believe it only created his sanctuary.

Should the borrowers (homeowners) share in the blame? If so, how?
Yes, the borrowers (homeowners) should share the blame because they were
getting loans where they didn t have the sufficient income to pay it back. This is
the reason why people shouldn t lie on their income information when investing into
getting a mortgage or financing a car because it can hurt the lender and the
borrower. They might be able to pay payments at first, but once the interest rate
starts to increase, it can be difficult to make the payments because it might be higher

We first describe the characteristics of an traffic analysis attacker (with respect to

the attacker can use to compromise privacy.
Generally, a traffic analysis attacker can be characterized by the following

attacker is one that can observe all the transmission activities in the entire network.
This can be achieved if the attacker is able to deploy his own network of sniffers to

packet into a common size~cite{hong2005, wan2012, zhang2012}.
underline{Time correlation}.
The attacker correlates the packet transmission times of each node and traces the
packets hop by hop from its source to its destination. The intuition here is that under
normal scenarios, each intermediate forwarder will forward a packet towards its
destination without adding additional delay or packet mixing. Privacy can be
enhanced when each forwarder node adds a random delay before transmitting the
packet ~cite{zhang2012, shao2008} or route the packets to fake
destinations~cite{deng2005}.
The time correlation attack is simple to conduct and effective in compromising
privacy. Hence, it is the most considered attack in prior works and also widely
studied in many Internet anonymity protocols~cite{hong2005}.
underline{Rate monitoring}.
The attacker counts the number of packet transmissions executed by each node in a
region for a period of time. If the nodes are sending to a common destination node
e.g., the sink node, then the latter should be located in a region of higher packet
transmissions or
How Did The Civil War Affect Women
During the Civil War many people were affected by it. Not only did it affect
soldier and saves (African Americans) but women and children as well. It caused
many major negative and very little positive impacts. For some people the war
gave them the courage to make something better for themselves. Good or bad, it
changed not only the way we think, but act as well, The Civil war was not only
remembered as the war against ourselves, the North versus the South. While the
Civil war was going on, women decided not to stand around and not do anything,
they took action into their own hands. Some stood up and fought right alongside the
men in the war. While the men did not know it, women secretly disguised
themselves as men and altered their names to be in the army. Some women acted as
spies against their side to feed their own side information about battle plans and
strategies for the war. For the women that didn t fight in the war, they took up jobs
that the men regularly had to earn... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Only a small part was truly about slavery. On January 1st, 1863, Abraham Lincoln
made the whole Civil War about slavery by signing the Emancipation
Proclamation. Slavery was completely abolished in the North. Later the North the
Surprised the South by allowing African Americans to be a soldier in the army and
fight. This created the 54th Regiment, an entire battalion (group or soldiers) of
African Americans. The south, then decided to force slaves to be serve in the
Confederate army. The south not only gave African Americans bad battle training,
but terrible and poor equipment as well. African Americans were in fact not the
only people to be affected by the Civil war. Many groups were affected and for
them it was an opportunity to do something great. Since then we have been careful in
what we do and the way we do
The Role Of Desolation In Ethan Frome
The desolate town of Starkfield, Massachusetts holds farms, people, and more
farms. For Ethan Frome, it is suitable, but not exactly ideal. His intention was to
move to the city where there is more work, but after his wife Zeena fell ill it was
out of the question. With work, Ethan cannot stay home to care for his wife so they
hired Mattie Silver to take care of Zeena and clean the house. Other than the two
other people who live in his house, Ethan is not very talkative and is more kept to
himself. Zeena, Mattie, and Ethan all share a common thread of isolation in their
lives. The isolation in all of their lived can be seen through their physical and
emotional states throughout the novel Ethan Frome. Although emotions are not
always visible
Essay on Canto V of Dante’s Inferno
Canto V of Dante s Inferno In Dante s Inferno, part of The Divine Comedy, Canto V
introduces the torments of Hell in the Second Circle. Here Minos tells the damned
where they will spend eternity by wrapping his tail around himself. The Second Circle
of Hell holds the lustful; those who sinned with the flesh. They are punished in the
darkness by an unending tempest, which batters them with winds and rain. Hellis not
only a geographical place, but also a representation of the potential for sin and evil
within every individual human soul. As Dante travels through Hell, he sees sinners in
increasingly more hideous and disgusting situations. For Dante, each situation is an
image of the quality of any soul that is determined to sin in... Show more content on

Others include Cleopatra, Achilles, and Semiras, each with their own story of love
and lust. Dante is at once filled with great pity for those who were torn from the
mortal life by love (V. 69). With Virgils permission, Dante asks to call to those two
swept together so lightly on the wind and still to sad (V. 74). One woman answers
him, recognizing him as a living soul. Dante knows her as Francesca, and she
relates to him how love was her undoing. She was reading with a man, Paolo, about
an Arthurian Legend of Lancelot, how love had mastered him (V. 129). The two
came to a particularly romantic moment in the story, and could not resist exchanging
a single kiss; that very day, they were killed because of it. Dante is so overcome with
pity that he faints.
Paolo and Francesca represented, or symbolize, sinful love by example. They show
how an intrinsically noble emotion, love, if contrary to God s law, can bring two
essentially fine persons to damnation and spiritual ruin. Dante s personal response of
overwhelming pity should not blind us to the justice of the penalty. Dante describes
himself as fainting at the end of Francesca s recital, his purpose is partly to portray
the attractiveness of the sin. Dante allows the lovers the bitter sweetness of
inseperability in Hell, but they have lost God and thus corrupted their personalities;
they can hardly be considered happy. In a sense, they have what they wanted; they
continue in the lawless condition that
Medea s Role Of Women In Ancient Greece
Amongst Euripides most famous plays, Medea went against the audience s
expectations at his time. Indeed, the main character of the play is Medea, a strong
independent female who neglected moral and . She was therefore in all ways
different to how women were perceived in Ancient Greece. This essay will explore
how Euripidescontroversial characters demonstrate that his views were ahead of his
time.
Ancient Greek society was ahead of its time politically speaking. Indeed they
iniciated the concept of democracy. Of course, this democracy did not include
everyone in Greece; male citizens dominated society and had full legal status. They
were divided in three classes depending on wealth. Females on the other hand had
few rights, they were obliged to stay at home and bear children. Once married to a
man chosen by their father, women were under the authority of their husband.
Divorce were tolerated under three conditions : Repudation by the husband, he did
not need justification and had to return the dowry; the wife could leave the family
home but it would bring shame on her; finaly the bride s father ... Show more content

Its main characters are women each with differently complex personnalities. Hecabe
was the queen of Troja, her situation makes her a tragic character and atracts pity.
On the other hand, her daughter the princess Cassandra is dedicated to the gods; she
bears the curse of having the ability if foresight yet never being trusted, thrown onto
her by the god Apollo. Finaly Hecabe s daughter in law Andromache, proud and
noble. The protagonists being so different, they each will have a different approach to
the play s events. Furthermore Menelaus, one of the play s two male characters, is
considered weak in contrast with the strong female personnalities present. The trojan
women also question the god s power and men dependence on them. The gods in the
play are depicted as flawed, therefore assimilated with simple
Yanek Gruener
Book Report
This is my book report on Prisoner B 3087 by Alan Gratz. The main character in the
book is Yanek Gruener, a ten year old boy who gets transferred to numerous
concentration camps throughout the book. Some notable minor characters in the
book are: Fred, Yanek s first friend since the nazi invasion began, he was hung to
strike fear in the jews that they will end up like him if they did not work; Uncle
Moshe, Yanek s uncle; and Amon Geoth, the camp commandant of Plaszow and killer
of Uncle Moshe. There are ten areas in the book that Yanek gets transferred into, they
are: the Wieliczka Salt Mine, Trzebinia, Birkenau, Sachsenhausen, Auschwitz, Bergen
Belsen, Buchenwald, Gross Rosen, Dachau, and Plaszow.

rocks to one place, he saw that if you carried small rocks you were to be killed and
if you drop big rocks you were also killed so he carried medium rocks. Yanek also
saw that rebellion led to death as well. The next camp Yanek was moved to was
Birkenau. He thought that he was going to be gassed to death when the group of
Jews he was with entered the shower but was relieved when it was actually a
normal shower. Yanek also got his tattoo of his prisoner number, B 3087. Yanek is
once again transferred to another camp, this time, Auschwitz. During his time in
Auschwitz, Yanek makes a close friend named Fred. Later, Fred was too sick to
work and so he was hung in the gallows, greatly saddening Yanek. The next camp
was Sachsenhausen, however this time it was a 9 10 day death march with one
half loaf of bread for the trip. In the camp the prisoners were allowed to sing to
their surprise as Nazis ate food. The next camp Yanek was transferred to was
Bergen Belsen. Like usual, the Jews were once again travelling by cart and many
died from starvation.. On arrival, the nazis saw that the jews were weak so they fed
them food

Controlling Mouse 1.1Moving Mouse Cursor We utilized the forefinger as a cursor
controller to control mouse cursor. We utilized two distinctive methodologies for
moving the mouse cursor. The principal strategy is mapping cursor control. It
implies that the pointer on a camera screen can position maps to a desktop screen
position. At the end of the day, the mouse cursor is put on the desktop window
alongside the forefinger tips position showed on the camera screen position. This
strategy has an issue. In the event that the determination of the desktop window has a
higher determination than the camera determination, then the cursor position can t be
precise in light of the fact that when the camera determination believers to the
desktop window determination we lose middle of the road esteem. We expect the
proportion of hopping pixel is up to 4 pixels. The second strategy is weighted pace
cursor control. We get a distinction of the finger of the present picture and the past
picture and process the separation between the two. Next, we move the mouse cursor
if the hole between the two finger pictures (present and past casing) is far then the
mouse cursor moves quick or, if the hole is close then the cursor moves moderate.
This calculation additionally has an issue. Since we are working with continuous
picture preparing, the customer machine ought to be quick. The picture information
rate is 15 outlines for every second and we require
Advancements Of Medical Care During The Time Period...
In the time period between 1500 and 1800 there were changes in medical theory and
philosophy, and while the ideas firmly established at the beginning and end of this
period seem quite different on the surface, there are similarities. This is due to new
theories incorporating pillars from previously accepted ideas and practices. Major
points to take note of in this period are: the extent of improvement in quantity and the
quality of medical care, the shifting relationship between theology and medical
practice, and how the credibility of ancient medical theory changed.
A misconception about medical care during this time period is that it improved
drastically. The mortality rates experienced a decline in the 1800s, less people
were getting sick outside of large cities, and hospitals and infirmaries were being
set up all over Europe. Medical advances had a minor role in all of this. Sanitation
had the largest effect in combating illness and death. In the name of self interest, the
wealthy pooled money to build healthcare facilities. It was really just, a stage
managed means by which the patricians bought off the plebeians, persuading them
that their social superiors gave back in paternal affection what they took away in time
and sweat (Waller, Medicinein the Enlightenment ). Physicians cannot be reasonably
credited with the mass growing quality of life. They still provided treatments that did
not work, and at times hastened the death of their patients. On top of this many

Their mutual love and hatred for one another, and for themselves, provides an
intensely dark comedy that exposes their inner conflicts, their racial bigotry and their
low self esteem, as they struggle to survive in a contrived culture to which neither
will ever really belong.
John Fante s description of Los Angeles during the depression of gaunt faces and lost
humanity is haunting and riveting, as told through the eyes of a young man who is
not altogether stable. The smog, traffic, dust, grime and shallow lifestyles of southern
California were already present in 1939, making this story relevant still today. The
earthquake scene in the story is just as realistic as it might be today, complete with
military intervention and the emergence of human kindness in the face of disaster.
Camilla, Arturo, Sammy, Vera and Hellfrick are all non entities in the bustle of L.A.
culture, but all are profoundly human in their suffering, confusion, and vices. All are
battling a poor sense of self worth and struggling to survive in an indifferent world.
Arturo Bandini takes us through this story in intimate first person, exposing us to his
mood swings, his astute observations and his growth as an author and a man.
In the Alta Loma Hotel in the Bunker Hill district of Los Angeles, writer Arturo
Bandini s hotel room window opens onto the ground level, a smog and sand choked
base of a palm tree as his view. Arturo s train of thought
The Bloody Sunday
The Bloody Sunday is a song that was sang by the Irish rock and U2. In the world s
history, it is also an extremely tragic day because millions of innocent people lost
their lives. In the world history, this tragic day named horrible and miserable.
Singers like U2 who cares about the world and what happens in the world always
perform songs that capture the audience s attention and feel their heart. The U2are an
Irish rock band from Dublin, that were so famous band in the late 1970. There are
four people in this band Bono, Edge Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen. The U2 band
always sang about serious issues that explains people s sorrow and problems in the
world for example, Bloody Sunday. By performing their first album boy U2 became

event happened in civil right march and in this event 26 civilian protesters shot by
British soldiers in the city of Derry that is in the Northern Ireland. In 1972 event the
British soldiers lost their control and shot many civilians and afterwards, they lied
that protesters were throwing stones and cocktails on them which is not true. The
soldiers shot the innocent men and boys without any sort of warning that is really

  • 2. The Iroquois The Iroquois Vonda Matthews Cultural Anthropology July 7, 2013 Instructor: Rebekah Zinser Kinship is the cornerstone for how people within a society relate to others and race lineages. Many societies trace their lineage through the father, which is called patrilineal, or through the mother which is called matrilineal. The Iroquois nation traced their kinship through the matrilineal decent lines. Kinship directly relates to how family groups think, act and live along side each other. The culture of the Iroquois can also be compared to how many American families relate to one another as well. Often times there are couples that get married but have chosen not to stay with one another because of a difference in opinion, this is called divorce. Iroquois and divorce Often time s couples marry only to find out that they have a difference of opinion or one spouse has caused serious marital strain on the other. Since the Iroquois couples lived matrilineally, this makes it easier for the woman to dissolve the marriage, keep her children and continue to live at home with her family. If a woman no longer desired to be married to her husband, all she had to do was pack up her husband s belongings and leave them on the steps of the longhouse. When he came home, the husband would find them, realize his wife had terminated the marriage, and return to his home village and his own patrilineage. (Nowak, B. amp; Laird, P. 2010 chapter 4.5 Divorce) In the American culture it is more difficult to obtain a divorce. Americans and divorce Americans divorce for the same reasons the Iroquois divorced for however, in the American culture it is harder to divorce. Many times couples divorce because of infidelity of one or both of the spouses, or from irreconcilable differences. In order to obtain a divorce in America many states require the couple to attend counseling to see if they can fix their marriage. Sometimes this is successful and the couple will stay together and often times it is not possible for the couple to stay together so they will then obtain a divorce
  • 3. The Dataset Diabetes Details From Efron Et Al Individual Project 1 Introduction This report will cover the dataset diabetes details from Efron et al.(2003). Throughout this report, we will explore the potential relationship between the ten predictor variables: age, sex, BMI, average blood pressure, and six blood serum measurements (tc, ldl, hdl, tch, ltg, glu) on a quantitative measure of disease progression one year after the baseline. There are 442 diabetes patients, or records in the dataset. In this report, we will explore different methods and cross validation techniques to understand these sample datasets leveraging linear regression, ridge regression, lasso method and metrics like our MSE, the mean prediction error and standard errors of the test dataset. First, we will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With the positive coefficients, we will see an increase in one unit of each variable separately compared with the advancement in diabetes. With a 0.05 parameter, the linear regression model selects 5 predictor variables with significance, age, tc, ldl, tch, and glu. To validate the assumption, we can plot the residuals versus the fitted values to see if there are any indications of signs of random distributions. For the residual plot, we see there are no indications or violations of random distribution and can calculate the MSE of the model, which is 3111.265. Next, we will leverage the best subset method to select the predictor variables that are truly impactful to the model. Best Subset Model With our best subset method, we can leverage our lowest BIC metric to select the best model. We can plot out best subset method and pinpoint the number of variables to select. The plot below showcases that the lowest point or value of BIC, contains 6 variables. We leverage the BIC metric because it places a penalty on models with more or many variables. Meaning, the mode variable a model has, the bigger the penalty. We can review the coefficients, standard errors, t value, and the p values for the best subset method with the significant six variables. Our MSE metric for the 6 variable best subset model is 3090.483, a slight decrease from our linear regression model. Best Subset Model with 10 fold Cross

As stated by Daniel Burt, ...a prosperous postwar period that gave rise to suburban conformity and teenage angst, (Burt 2). This quote states that what was going on in society at that time was how Holden was feeling. The feeling of teenage rebellion and depression were taking over his life and leading him to do immoral things. Based on the quote above, we can see how Holden created a cultural mordancy that his readers can easily detect, leading to the thought that this book was created under the impression of loss and a world gone wrong. Burt writes, Salinger s novel, observes Louis Menand, provides adolescents with a layer of psychic insulation. Critic Harold Bloom speaks to the novel s enduring influence when he states, The Catcher in the Rye struck a nerve for one generation, but it seems to appeal to sensitive young people in later generations as well... • 6. Is The Concept Of Prokaryotic Valid And Useful Or... Is the concept of prokaryotes valid and useful or fundamentally flawed? Since the establishment of the basic concept of classification of organisms by Carl Linnaeus (Encyclopaedia Britannica) and Charles Darwin s theory of evolution, various ideas and concepts have been suggested. After being repeatedly reviewed by a number of experts, some of them are accepted and this has enabled scientists to classify organisms, to recognise the connections between them despite of different physical appearance and to improve the understanding of evolutionary relationship between them. However, as time goes by and technology develops, the unknown aspects of organisms are being discovered and it arises several controversial points regarding the concepts and the principle of taxonomy. This essay will address one of those controversies, the validity of the concept of prokaryotes. Humankind needed a guideline in order to comprehend the nature of organisms. For that reason, scientists began to arrange organisms formally into groups called taxa. Ernst Mayr defined taxon as a single taxonomic group of any level that is unique and independent from other groups. (Mayr, 1981) Since then, several diverse hypotheses were suggested and majority of scientists agreed to classify organisms into two major domains, eukaryotes and prokaryotes. At that time, the principle of two domains seemed to be fairly reasonable and was widely accepted amongst scientists. Since then, the same definitions for those two

Decision By Graham Allison In 1971, Graham Allison published The Essences of Decision, in which he suggested three perspectives one might use to analyze a major decision (Nahavandi, Denhardt, Denhardt, Aristigueta, 2015). These three perspectives allow every decision to have a potentially different outcome depending on which is used to make the decisions. The rational model, the organizational process model, and the governmental politics model or collaborative models have been used to analyze many different decisions. Out of the three options for analyzing major decisions the best suited for answering the question of whether it is worth increasing to 18,000 tests per period to accommodate rising demand from the current 12,000 test per period would be the rational model. The rational model is a cognitive process which weighs the outcomes and alternatives though a step by step process allowing emotion to be set aside (Rational Decision Making Process, 2015). This process is comprised of five steps which help individuals or groups come to a final qualified decision. The first step is the pre analysis phase; this includes identifying and defining the situation as well as the desired end results. There are many options available to an individual or group decision maker when it comes to this step. . Utilizing a focus group or brainstorming can give the final decision maker the most reasonable and well thought out options available. Regarding the decision at hand there are many variables that

The idea of exploring someone s subconscious is the dream state, which is when you enter someone s dream. This is designed by the architect and filled with projections of the person s subconscious. In the state, your conscious is lowered and if not previously informed of entering the dream state, you will perceive it as reality. If you enter a dream within a dream, you are delving deeper into the person s subconscious. That is where secrets and important information is kept within your layers of consciousness. If you delve deep enough, you will reach the edge of your subconscious. This is dangerous though because to return to reality, you need the kick to be synchronized among all the layers of the subconscious. If you spend too long in the dream state, the lines of reality and dreaming can become blurred. In the movie, Cobb and his team are delving into Fischer s subconscious to plant the idea for him to break up his father s empire (Nolan, 2010). To do this, they must go very deep and plant the simplest of ideas, so his subconscious will run with it so consciously he will make the decision. They used him and his father s relationship, because that is the root of the idea they need to plant. It is not revealed in the movie though if the inception worked (Nolan, 2010). A few days later on October 29, 1929, things got even worse. Stocks fell to the point of losing all value and banks started calling in loans that no one could pay back. This date became known as Black Tuesday . The losses were over 30 billion dollars by the next month. People were dying because of how farming methods and a drought destroyed crops, and people all over the United States had no food or shelter. Panicked sellers were trading shares on the New York Stock Exchange that had been overvalued, and finally the banks that kept every one s money lost it all. The next several years were terrifying according historical records. The middle class was disappearing and life was cut into two groups; the haves and the have nots . The group that made the biggest part of the have nots were the people who lived in rural areas. Parents who lost their jobs had to let their children be forced to leave from going to school. They had to work in factories and other places for low wages to help save their families. People who lived in the cities did not have it any better. Families were getting evicted all the time. In places like Philadelphia, nursery school children played a game called the eviction game. They would pile their toy furniture into a corner. Then they would pick it up and move

He was heaver involved the project aspect of the camp, but still present in that time. The more I talked to him the more interesting his experiences were. He then invited me to check out the Sooner off Road team, and joined the team. Tim is in his senior year of school and is the person with a lot of experience in the Mechanical Engineeringfield before graduation. His interest was more through tinkering with things. From a young he found it fun to design, build, and test things in his free time. During this time, he joined the Boys Scouts of America and became an Eagle Scout in the organization. To achieve this rank he created a Man made waterfall in a stream as a final project. I was told by him it was very challenging, but after that he finds a challenge and tackles it head on. However, the greatest challenge he had to tackle was in 2011. During that year Tim was a junior in high school, his house was hit by a tornado. Everything I owned was gone. The only thing I had were the clothes on my back. This thought me a lesson in humbleness, through the whole process of getting back to where we were. I mean we went from having a home to being homeless. It made me realize that things don not last forever. Tim s family was able to get back to where they were, but he will always remember this experience. Afterwards, this short story Tim told me how he got interested in Mechanical

Greetings By Patricia Highsmith Greetings ________, Recently I have read a novel by Patricia Highsmith known as the talented Mr. Ripley, which carries excitement and irony throughout the book. This book is about Tom Ripley, twenty three year old con man, who is almost certain a police officer is approaching him; however it appeared to be one of his ex friend s fathers, Mr. Greenleaf. Mr. Greenleaf has been looking for Tom to request if he is able to set sail to Italy to persuade his son, Dickie, in returning to New York. As I continued to read on, many situations captured my attention, such as traveling to Italy, the 1950 s style of regulations and amusement, and etc. Many of these circumstances made the book more tempting to follow, constructing a sense of responsiveness
  • 24. Leadership Reflection On Leadership And Leadership Leadership Reflection Vincent E. M. Panuccio COM 610 Leadership Due: Dec 13, 2014 I ve learned that there is no one leader in any team. There are many different things that someone can do within a team to be a leader and show their leadership skills. To me leadership is when someone in a team passes along knowledge or skills to someone else in the team. This knowledge or skill passed along must be beneficial and must be new knowledge and a new experience for the person being led. Anyone can be a leader if given the right resources. This belief has really shown me that it is a lot easier to be a leader than I had once thought. You don t have to be the one in charge or the one with the most power to be a leader. There is usually more than one leader in every team. It is easier to have people who are different in a team because it makes it easier for everyone to showcase their skills and show their leadership. My thought process about leadership now, is fairly different than what I had thought at the beginning of this semester. I still do believe in some of my original beliefs, but I now understand more what it is to show leadership and actually be a leader. At the beginning of the semester we answered the question, What is leadership? I wrote, Being able to have others follow you in a respectable way. Guiding other to help them achieve a goal(s). Some qualities I wrote down about a leadership were: equality, and being able to follow

Cirilo Quispe Latorre, the mayor of Cachimayo district recalls how the climate has change just since he was younger: The rains used to start in October, and we would plant broad beans, wheat, and potatoes. Now the rains begin around mid December, and we lose more than a month and a half of growing time. (Hufstader, 2009). Latorre goes on to say that the rains, which once ended in April now end in March. This significantly diminishes the amount of time that farmers have to produce crops which in turn has led to decreases in the output of crops in the last twelve years (Hufstader, 2009). However, according to the USAID report on Peru, annual rainfall percentages have not changed drastically over the last 40 years. There has been an increase in the coastal regions and highlands (where most of farming takes place), a decrease in the jungle areas, and little change anywhere else (US AID, 2011).What has changed though, is the extent of the drought periods which cannot be alleviated by the intense periods of rain (US AID, 2011). This issue could be helped in the long term by utilizing more advanced irrigation methods that could store water during the intense rains to help alleviate some of the burden of the long droughts. One of the most significant effects of climate change in the region has been the devastating effects of the melting glaciers. These glaciers often provide an extra source of water for farming regions, storing water in the rainy season and

In today s postmodern world gender theorists prefer the more fluid term masculinities because male attributes change throughout space and time (Reeser 2). The first theory of masculinity as a personal identity was introduced by Sigmund Freud (Roper 361) whereas in the Victorian and Edwardian periods the word manliness was used. Nt1310 Unit 3 Assignment 1 Traffic Analysis section{Introduction to Traffic Analysis Attacks} We first describe the characteristics of an traffic analysis attacker (with respect to wireless networks) before elaborating on the types of traffic analysis techniques that the attacker can use to compromise privacy. Generally, a traffic analysis attacker can be characterized by the following properties~cite{conti2013}: begin{enumerate} item underline{The global or local observability}. A global attacker is one that can observe all the transmission activities in the entire network. This can be achieved if the attacker is able to deploy his own network of sniffers to observe the network traffic or has a few sniffers with high gain antennas. The local adversary on the other hand, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The attacker is able to easily identify and distinguish between individual packets if they are of different packet sizes. A simple countermeasure would be to pad each packet into a common size~cite{hong2005, wan2012, zhang2012}. underline{Time correlation}. The attacker correlates the packet transmission times of each node and traces the packets hop by hop from its source to its destination. The intuition here is that under normal scenarios, each intermediate forwarder will forward a packet towards its destination without adding additional delay or packet mixing. Privacy can be enhanced when each forwarder node adds a random delay before transmitting the packet ~cite{zhang2012, shao2008} or route the packets to fake destinations~cite{deng2005}. The time correlation attack is simple to conduct and effective in compromising privacy. Hence, it is the most considered attack in prior works and also widely studied in many Internet anonymity protocols~cite{hong2005}. underline{Rate monitoring}. The attacker counts the number of packet transmissions executed by each node in a region for a period of time. If the nodes are sending to a common destination node e.g., the sink node, then the latter should be located in a region of higher packet transmissions or

It caused many major negative and very little positive impacts. For some people the war gave them the courage to make something better for themselves. Good or bad, it changed not only the way we think, but act as well, The Civil war was not only remembered as the war against ourselves, the North versus the South. While the Civil war was going on, women decided not to stand around and not do anything, they took action into their own hands. Some stood up and fought right alongside the men in the war. While the men did not know it, women secretly disguised themselves as men and altered their names to be in the army. Some women acted as spies against their side to feed their own side information about battle plans and strategies for the war. On January 1st, 1863, Abraham Lincoln made the whole Civil War about slavery by signing the Emancipation Proclamation. Slavery was completely abolished in the North. Later the North the Surprised the South by allowing African Americans to be a soldier in the army and fight. This created the 54th Regiment, an entire battalion (group or soldiers) of African Americans. The south, then decided to force slaves to be serve in the Confederate army. The south not only gave African Americans bad battle training, but terrible and poor equipment as well. African Americans were in fact not the only people to be affected by the Civil war. Here Minos tells the damned where they will spend eternity by wrapping his tail around himself. The Second Circle of Hell holds the lustful; those who sinned with the flesh. They are punished in the darkness by an unending tempest, which batters them with winds and rain. Hellis not only a geographical place, but also a representation of the potential for sin and evil within every individual human soul. As Dante travels through Hell, he sees sinners in increasingly more hideous and disgusting situations. For Dante, each situation is an image of the quality of any soul that is determined to sin in... Dante is at once filled with great pity for those who were torn from the mortal life by love (V. 69). With Virgils permission, Dante asks to call to those two swept together so lightly on the wind and still to sad (V. 74). One woman answers him, recognizing him as a living soul. Dante knows her as Francesca, and she relates to him how love was her undoing. She was reading with a man, Paolo, about an Arthurian Legend of Lancelot, how love had mastered him (V. 129). The two came to a particularly romantic moment in the story, and could not resist exchanging a single kiss; that very day, they were killed because of it. Dante is so overcome with pity that he faints. Paolo and Francesca represented, or symbolize, sinful love by example. They show how an intrinsically noble emotion, love, if contrary to God s law, can bring two essentially fine persons to damnation and spiritual ruin. Dante s personal response of overwhelming pity should not blind us to the justice of the penalty. Dante describes himself as fainting at the end of Francesca s recital, his purpose is partly to portray the attractiveness of the sin. Dante allows the lovers the bitter sweetness of inseperability in Hell, but they have lost God and thus corrupted their personalities; they can hardly be considered happy. In a sense, they have what they wanted; they continue in the lawless condition that

We utilized two distinctive methodologies for moving the mouse cursor. The principal strategy is mapping cursor control. It implies that the pointer on a camera screen can position maps to a desktop screen position. At the end of the day, the mouse cursor is put on the desktop window alongside the forefinger tips position showed on the camera screen position. This strategy has an issue. In the event that the determination of the desktop window has a higher determination than the camera determination, then the cursor position can t be precise in light of the fact that when the camera determination believers to the desktop window determination we lose middle of the road esteem. We expect the proportion of hopping pixel is up to 4 pixels. The second strategy is weighted pace cursor control. We get a distinction of the finger of the present picture and the past picture and process the separation between the two. Next, we move the mouse cursor if the hole between the two finger pictures (present and past casing) is far then the mouse cursor moves quick or, if the hole is close then the cursor moves moderate. This calculation additionally has an issue. Since we are working with continuous picture preparing, the customer machine ought to be quick. The picture information rate is 15 outlines for every second and we require
  • 47. Advancements Of Medical Care During The Time Period... In the time period between 1500 and 1800 there were changes in medical theory and philosophy, and while the ideas firmly established at the beginning and end of this period seem quite different on the surface, there are similarities. This is due to new theories incorporating pillars from previously accepted ideas and practices. Major points to take note of in this period are: the extent of improvement in quantity and the quality of medical care, the shifting relationship between theology and medical practice, and how the credibility of ancient medical theory changed. A misconception about medical care during this time period is that it improved drastically. The mortality rates experienced a decline in the 1800s, less people were getting sick outside of large cities, and hospitals and infirmaries were being set up all over Europe. Medical advances had a minor role in all of this. Sanitation had the largest effect in combating illness and death. In the name of self interest, the wealthy pooled money to build healthcare facilities. It was really just, a stage managed means by which the patricians bought off the plebeians, persuading them that their social superiors gave back in paternal affection what they took away in time and sweat (Waller, Medicinein the Enlightenment ). Physicians cannot be reasonably credited with the mass growing quality of life. They still provided treatments that did not work, and at times hastened the death of their patients. On top of this many

Their mutual love and hatred for one another, and for themselves, provides an intensely dark comedy that exposes their inner conflicts, their racial bigotry and their low self esteem, as they struggle to survive in a contrived culture to which neither will ever really belong. John Fante s description of Los Angeles during the depression of gaunt faces and lost humanity is haunting and riveting, as told through the eyes of a young man who is not altogether stable. The smog, traffic, dust, grime and shallow lifestyles of southern California were already present in 1939, making this story relevant still today. The earthquake scene in the story is just as realistic as it might be today, complete with military intervention and the emergence of human kindness in the face of disaster. Camilla, Arturo, Sammy, Vera and Hellfrick are all non entities in the bustle of L.A. culture, but all are profoundly human in their suffering, confusion, and vices. All are battling a poor sense of self worth and struggling to survive in an indifferent world. Arturo Bandini takes us through this story in intimate first person, exposing us to his mood swings, his astute observations and his growth as an author and a man. In the Alta Loma Hotel in the Bunker Hill district of Los Angeles, writer Arturo Bandini s hotel room window opens onto the ground level, a smog and sand choked base of a palm tree as his view.
