Building A Financial Portfolio For A Hypothetical Client
Introduction This report will lay out the various steps involved in construction a financial
portfolio for a hypothetical client. This report will lay out the various steps involved, right from
the acquisition of the client, to the constructing of a portfolio, and back testing that portfolio to
see how the portfolio performed over the most recent one or three year period. The process of
portfolio management involves a lot of subjective and objective analysis, especially when dealing
with individual high net worth clients. While the definition of a high net worth client varies, it is
usually taken to mean an individual with more than $1 million of investable assets excluding
collectibles, consumer durables and the primary residence (The Guardian, 2014). For the purpose
of this report, our hypothetical client has the following characteristics: Age: 56 Employment
Status: Employed Time Horizon: 25 years Investable Assets: $5 million Domicile: London, United
Kingdom Years to Retirement: 5 Level of Risk Aversion: High Other preferences: Not looking for
capital growth, mainly income with low volatility; Prefer passive investing The objective of any
portfolio manager is to maximize return for a given level of risk, or minimize risk to achieve a
certain level of return. The objectives relate to making decisions about the investment mix,
matching investments to objectives, and balancing risk versus performance (CFA Society, 2010).

Full Range Leadership
According to Bruce Avolio, What we have clearly learned is that leaders who can balance
transactional and transformational leadership across time, situations, and challenges are the most
effective (Avolio 2011, 49). People have a greater sense of ownership at the highest levels in
terms of identification and are willing to provide the extra effort needed to succeed (Avolio 2011,
49). Yet, Rusty Ricketson wrote, Those who embrace the followerfirst perspective are not
dependent on titles or positions in order to gain a sense of identity and worth. They understand that
good leaders are good followers (Ricketson 2014, 197). Although Avolio supports Full Range

There is observed conflict between Transactional Leaders and Following Leader, The Following
Leader seeks to raise the level of the leader follower relationship to one in which both leader and
follower are responding based upon a common desire to honor God (Ricketson 2014, 213).
Laissez faire leadership (LF) is the behavior of those individuals in a group who, in the extreme,
do not care what happens, avoid taking responsibility, cannot make up their minds, and are
satisfied to sit and wait for others to take the necessary initiatives imposed by the tasks at hand
(Avolio 2011, 55). In Full Range Leadership and Following Leader the LF is not an effective
approach. In terms of building the full range of leadership potential, how often you exhibit a
certain set of behaviors along the range ultimately determines how effective you are over time as a
leader Avolio 2011, 56). Ricketson

Buser V. Corpus Christi Independent School Case Study
All parents and/or guardians are awarded due process in the United States court system. IDEA gives
parents the opportunity for a child with a disability the rights to examine their personal records,
participate in meetings such as, IEPs and ARDs with the respect to the identification, evaluation,
and educationof the child s placement and also free public education (Osbourne Russo). Although
most of the due process rights in the IDEA are for the benefit of children, the Supreme Court ruled
that parents have rights of their own independent of those of their children (Osbourne Russo, p.
96). In this paper it will analyze the court case of Buser v. Corpus Christi Independent School
District, 1995; the parties involved, issues brought to court, disagreements, how and when the case
was adjudicated, final outcomes, and disagree or agree with the case.

Essay on William the Conqueror
William I became known as William the Conqueror through his will and determination. William
gained power through his father and soon he climbed high enough to conquer England and
become its new king. William was born in 1028 at Falaise Castle. He was the son of Robert the
Duke of Normandy and Herleve, the daughter of a tanner in Falaise. Robert was said to have
caught sight of Herleve while she was washing her linens in the castle moat. William s father went
on a pilgrimage in 1034 to release his sins. While returning home from his journey, he died
suddenly. Having no other heir, William took his place as Duke of Normandy. William had a hard
time taking control. People constantly rebelled during his rule, and he would have to learn... Show

In the middle of September, England was invaded by Harold Hardrada, King of Norway. He was
accompanied by Tostig, Earl of Northumbria, Harold s unruly and discontented brother, who had
earlier been banished and his earldom confiscated Harold went north to meet the invaders at
Stamford Bridge in Yorkshire, where he won a victory over the Viking army. The winds William
had been waiting for turned favorable and he set sail with his massive army. News of his landing
at Pevensey was told to Harold, who responded by hurrying south to meet him, giving his
exhausted army no rest. If Harold had rested and reorganized his army, the outcome of the battle
and English history could have been very different. On the 14th of October, the Saxon and
Norman forces clashed in the Battle of Hastings. Harold took up a defensive position on Senlac
Ridge. The Norman army was forced to attack uphill, placing them at a disadvantage. A rumor
arose in the Norman ranks that William was dead, causing panic. Many of the Saxon fyrdd pursued
the fleeing Normans down the hill. William raised his armies morale by loudly announcing that he
was still alive. The Normans with new strength fought hard against the Saxons, Harold s brothers
Gyrth and Leofwine were both slain on the battlefield. The battle continued for most of the

Poverty And Natural Beauty In The Country Of Venezuela
Venezuela is a country of natural beauty and full of natural resources. Its levels of raw materials
and the diversity of its people, makes of Venezuela a beautiful country in South America and around
the world. According to the Venezuelan Government website, Venezuelan history goes back 15,000
to 5.000 years before our era. But the real history begins in the 1400s when Christopher Columbus
became the first Spanish explorer to touch the Venezuelan lands in 1498 (Oberhelman, ph2). Follow
by Spanish conquer Alonso de Ojeda who actually gave the country its name, Venezuela
became
another conquered country with so much hiding treasures not known to the world yet. The country
became a must have by other European nations, including Great Britain who at that time, owned the
country of Guyana which it borders Venezuela. The Spanish conquers remained in Venezuela for
more than 300 years, and it wasn t until 1821 that a man named Simon Bolivar along with other
revolutionaries liberated Venezuela from the Spanish conquers and acquiring independence for the
country. Venezuela is a country that throughout the years has tried to become a democracy country.
In 1998, Hugo Chavez was elected president of Venezuela with the intentions of making a
Venezuela a better country. His intentions were to rewrite a new constitution in order to improve
the state and fight poverty (Coronel, 2008). Years passed and Venezuela has become worst

The Electoral College in The United States

As the first Democrat in nearly 20 years to hold the position, Bill Clinton saw a successful, yet
embattled tenure in the office of the presidency. As he looked to pass the torch to his Vice
President Albert Gore Jr, a virtually unchallenged bid in the Democratic primary, as he carried all

Senator Bill Bradley of New Jersey. The Republican Party was locked in a more challenged series
of primaries with the two frontrunners being Senator John McCain of Arizona, and Governor

The night of November 7th 2000 put a flawed aspect of American democracy at the forefront of
the world stage. The election to the office of the leader of the free world, the Presidency of the
United States of America was in question. How could a candidate receive more votes and still
lose in the richest most powerful democracy in the world? I need not to go into a debate about the
Electoral College as my stance will be clarified rather clearly. The night of the election it seemed
as if the Vice President and candidate for the Democratic Partywas poised for a close victor. As the
polls closed along the eastern seaboard, exit polling information indicated a clear, but narrow
lead for the Vice President as he still need to secure Florida and two states totaling 15 electoral
votes or more to win the Presidency (Toobin, 18). At 7:49 EST, NBC called Florida and the
election for Gore, and so did 2 of the 4 major television networks did the same in the following
minutes. As the night continued Gore secured Minnesota and New Mexico, but confusion in exit
polling data had led to a premature call for Gore (18, Toobin). As the red eye hours of the morning
continued all four media outlets reported a flood of data from Volusia County, Daytona Beach put
Bush up by more than 50,000 votes, thus the media outlets followed suit and eventually called
Florida for Bush. Although a questionable disappearance of

The ad interim government of the new Republic of Texas and much of the civilian population fled
eastward ahead of the Mexican forces. The conflict arose after Antonio LГіpez de Santa Anna
abrogated the 1824 constitution of Mexico and established martial law in Coahuila y Tejas. The
Texians resisted and declared their independence. It was Sam Houston s responsibility, as the
appointed commander in chief of the Provisional Army of Texas (before such an army actually
existed), to recruit and train a military force to defend the population against troops led by Santa
Anna. Residents on the Gulf Coast and at San Antonio de BГ©xar began evacuating in January
upon learning of the Mexican army s troop movements into their area, an event that was ultimately
replayed across Texas. During early skirmishes, some Texian soldiers surrendered, believing that
they would become prisoners of war but Santa Anna demanded their executions. The news of the
Battle of the Alamo and the Goliad massacre instilled fear in the population and resulted in the
mass exodus of the civilian population of Gonzales, where the opening battle of the Texian
revolution had begun and where, only days before the fall of the Alamo, they had sent a militia to
reinforce the defenders at the mission. The civilian refugees were accompanied by the newly
forming provisional army, as Houston bought time to train soldiers and create a military structure
that could oppose Santa Anna s greater forces.

The Use Of Calvinism By Robert Frost
Robert Frost incorporated Calvinism into his poetic work to emphasize his belief in this Protestant
theological system. Frost lived in a Calvinist society throughout his life, influencing him to believe
in such a system. The death of Frost s family members, drove him to live such a dark life, and
turning to find gratification through Calvinism. Frost made sure to demonstrate the struggle of the
characters in his poetry as if they were trying to escape something that was not possible, such as
Calvinism. Once a human joins this religion, the rest of their life is determined for them and they
are subjected to either hell or rarely heaven. Robert Frost made use of Calvinism throughout his
poetry to emphasize the mindset of such individuals.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are parts of his religion that he must stay true and values that mean something due to his
strong faith. Calvinism is shown strongly throughout this poem, for one example, in that one has a
life to live however, God is ultimately all powerful and in full control of every part of life.
The next example comes from the poem Acquainted With The Night, Frost starts off this poem
by stating I have been one acquainted with night (Frost 1). Looking further into this poem, one
can interpret that the speaker was once drawn to evil, and has gone through struggles in life,
however, he has outwalked this struggle in life. God has put him through this clearly for a
reason and proves that he truly does have all power. Going through tough times, Frost kept his
faith strong, despite believing he was damned. I have stood still and stopped the sound of feet
/ When far away an interrupted cry/ Came over houses from another street, (Frost 7 9) Frost is
hearing the sounds of a watchman or inner voice talking to him. The voice was not there to tell
him what to do just to remind him that He is always there watching over him. When the speaker
looks up, he sees the luminary clock, (Frost 12) or the moon, he states once again I have been
acquainted with the night, (Frost 14) stating once again the he believes he has been damned. Frost
knows that he technically doesn t have control in any of his choice, and not even the

I Hear The Cry Of My Life
I hear the cry. Of course it is four thirty in the morning and my little boy is ready for his middle
of the night feeding. This is the everyday life of a mother of two. I wrap my bundle of joy up and
feed him. While this usually isn t a normal time for people to think about their hopes and dreams
it tends to be mine. At the age of sixteen, I moved with my husband to Norman and realized that
the best opportunities for my family s future would be to pursue a professional degree. My college
experience began the summer after I graduated a year early from high school. This definitely left
me clueless at answering the dreaded question, What are you going to do for the rest of your life?
But the one thing I had set in stone was being in the medical field. After picking the wrong major
over and over, I felt passionate and committed to follow a career in medical imaging.
When I think about a sonographer s job the first thing that comes to mind is a computer. Recently,
I had multiple ultrasounds during my second pregnancy. Every time I stepped into the perinatal
center I got excited. While I was thrilled to see my little boy swimming around I couldn t help but
be excited to see the ultrasound preformed. When we were let back into the room I couldn t resist
trying to read all the buttons on the computer and try to figure out how to work the machine. In

Literary Analysis Of Once More To The Lake
Literary Analysis: Once More to the Lake and Forgetfulness The poem Forgetfulness by Billy
Collins and the passage Once More to the Lake by E.B White, both use devices to develop a
similar theme of time. The poem Forgetfulness uses figurative language and describing words to
develop a theme of forgetfulness, while Once More to the Lake uses flashbacks and sensory
details to develop a theme of accepting aging. In the passageOnce More to the Lake , a man
struggles with his identity while at the lake with his son. The two passagesOnce more to the Lake
and Forgetfulness both use devices to develop the common theme that of, time is the greatest enemy.
First and foremost, Once More to the Lake by E.B White develops the theme by applying amazing
flashbacks and outstanding sensory details. In the passage White struggles with his identity and
accepting reality which leads to a huge problem that developed, man vs self. By returning to the
lake with his son, White remembers all the memories he had built in the years before when he
went with his father, I guess I remembered clearest of all the early mornings, when the lake was
cool and motion less, remembered how the bedroom smelled of the lumber it was made of and of
the wet woods whose scent entered through the screen (White page 1). The sensory detail in that
line helped the readers picture the surroundings and to show how much love White has for the lake
and the memories he created in the past. During the

Manchester s United Of The Football League
Prior to the arrival of Matt Busby, Manchester s United s chapter in the history of English
football begins with the founding of Newton Heath LYR [Lancashire Yorkshire Railway]
Football Club in 1878 (Manchester United F.C., В§1878 1909). Football was the most popular
sport in the nearby counties of Lancashire and Yorkshire in the mid 1800s, and it enjoyed
popularity in Manchester as well (Harvey, 57, 67). One historian attributes part of its success to
the abundance of playing space and events sanctioned by local business owners seeking to increase
revenue (Harvey, 67). Newton Health LYR joined the Football Leaguein 1892, and was rechristened
Manchester United after an early infusion of funding. After moderate success through 1920 that
prompted the construction of and relocation to Old Trafford, the club entered a period of
stagnation and decline, characterized by relatively poor performance and plagued by financial
difficulties. This floundering was exacerbated by public perception of association football as an
undignified, inferior sport. Academic institutions, swayed by the patriotic qualities of toughness
and leadership emphasized by rugby and perceived to be absent in football, opted to field rugby
teams (Taylor, 122). Numerous scandals further tarnished association football s reputation, the most
notable of which involved Manchester United and Liverpool F.C. Players from both sides, after

Critical Analysis Of Max Weber s Theory
Sociology of Max Weber This essay is a critical analysis of the theories given by Max Weber of
leadership, religion and rationalization.
Just like Marx, Max Weber is a German sociologist and philosopher and his ideas have always
influenced the society in many ways. He is referred to as one of the founding fathers of modern
sociology. He has given many ground breaking theories like theory of bureaucracy and theory of
social class. His theories are important because he helped us to understand the nature of society. He
disagreed with the Marxian understanding of class and Auguste Comte s theory of positivism.
Weber talked about a German term Verstehen which is basically a concept of understanding in

This authority rests on the appeal of the leader. At the same time this form of authority has its
own drawbacks. It is unstable and it deteriorates if the leader is unable to bring about the
changes he promised to bring. This is what we concluded from the case study by Rakesh
Khurana as well. John McCoy, the CEO of Bank One was a very charismatic leader. He brought
about a huge change in the Bank s financial and economic position. His attitude helped the bank
to expand and take over First Chicago. But as and when McCoy s attitude changed, people saw a
change in the services of Bank One which had started faltering. His laid back attitude finally led to
his removal from the post of CEO by his own board of members.

Bromination Of E-Stilbene Lab Report
Bromination of E Stilbene Kelly Marroquin Fall 2017 Lab Section: 353 01 Lab Partner: Seon
Lee Abstract: The bromination of the alkane was calculated and the overall percent yield was
96.35% with the percent yield with the calculated theoretical yield was 79.85%. The addition
reaction was synthesized with a mechanism using 3 steps. The E Stilbene reacted with pyridinium
hydromide perbromide to form the pure (1R, 2S) stilbene dibromide. One of the two
diastereomeric products, the other would be dl(1R,2R + 1S,2S) stilbene dibromide. Introduction:
Halogenation is when one or more hydrogens in a compound are replaced with a halogen, for
example fluorine, chlorine, bromine or iodine. In a halogenation of the alkane, the... Show more

Materials and Methods/Experimental: The materials used for this experiment was an
Erlenmeyer flask and a vacuum filtration. To start off, in an Erlenmeyer flask approximately 0.51
g of E stilbene with 10 mL of acetic acid was dissolved. A hot water bath was prepared and the
mixture was warmed until the solid is completely dissolved. After the solution was dissolved,
1.02 gram of pyridinium hydromide perbromide was added. The crystals around the flask were
rinsed with a small amount of acetic acid and the solution was continued in the hot water bath
for one to two minutes. The stilbene dibromide precipitated immediately as small plates. The
mixture was cooled under tap water helping crystals form. The mixture was cooled before
collecting the product by a vacuum filtration. For the crystals not to stick in the flask, the
solution was washed with small amounts of ice cold methanol. When done pouring, the isolated
solid dried for a few minutes in the filtration. To increase drying time, the crystals were pressed
down. When the solid was collected, data such as melting point, percent yield and infrared
spectroscopy spectrum values were collected. Results and Discussion: When all the data was
collected, the solid was weighed and in total the watch glass with the solid weighed 16.52 grams.
When the weight of the watch glass was subtracted, 0.77g of the solid stilbene bromide is left. In
order to calculate the percent yield, the theoretical yield is taken.

Allegory of Good Government, Effects of Good Government. These paintings had the Gothic

The Effect of the Good Government on City and Country Lifetime is situated on the extensive wall
of the room. The painting shows at the left side of the long fresco portraying the city and at the

broad civic panorama with remarkable realism. Ambrogio was very interested at the republican

Transplant Surgery
Transplant surgery can be a very incredible topic. The act of exchanging organs or even body
parts to help or even save another persons life is truly amazing. Transplant surgery can save many
lives without even affecting the donor at all. Organs can come from any body whether it be
deceased, alive, or brain dead. New studies are even trying to get animal organs into humans who
need them. The value of having transplant surgery weighs more than not being able to benefit or
save someone s life. There is nothing un ethical about where the organs come form as I said organs
can come from any human. Live donors willingly consent to donating a non necessary organ to

Death And The Elimination Of Narcissism
There are five stages to the human life cycle, birth, infancy, childhood, adolescence and
adulthood. Some people complete every stage, but tragically others do not. Although not
everyone will be able to fulfill every stage of life, all people will face something in common
regardless on how it happens: death. The significance of death to a person, among a few other
aspects, is what determines how most people live their life. To a Christian, death is not the end,
but the beginning of a new life, the afterlife. However, to an Existentialist, a person who perceives
life as being determined by their own development through acts of their will, death is the end of
their existence. Whether a person believes in the afterlife or not, the fact that everyone... Show more

Why I Decided For The Army For Three Reasons
It is dark outside and many men lay sick on the cold dirt floor of the huts. I want to return to my
family, however I must serve my country until the end. Our huts only have mud and straw for
our bedding. Space was limited in the hut, there are no windows and only one door. The huts are
16 by 14 , not enough room for the 12 men inside. Still, many of the conditions at Valley Forge
are okay for living in. The living conditions occurred to be very harsh, but they happened to be
bearable. I decided to re enlist in the army for three reasons; the army needs more soldiers, in the
end there is much pride and glory, and many leaders are helping us get through the war.
In 1773, the Boston Tea Partycommenced causing most of this drama with the British. Before
we arrived at camp we had victories in Princeton and Trenton, demonstrating that we can win this
war. Then in 1776, our Declaration of Independence had started to be written. Before I left to the
war, my home was quartered or taken over by the British. I knew that I had to leave my family
to help support them. In the year 1777 our army marched into the Valley Forge camp, home for
me and my fellow men for 9 months. We ate, slept, and trained for many days. Upon our arrival at
Valley Forge many soldiers started to desert, or in other words, they were leaving without
permission from General Washington. The war conditions were getting worse and I knew that I had
a duty to help the army.
The first reason I will re enlist in

The Folk Music Of The Civil Rights Movement
Response Paper #4 The folk music of the Civil Rights Movement came out of tradition, common
experience, and generations of resistance (Dunaway 2010: 140). The songs used throughout the
movement derived from the shared experiences and struggles of African Americans while
connecting the gentle, idealistic world of folk musicand the integrationist world of civil rights
(Dunaway 2010: 145). Songs, such as We Shall Overcome , were put through the folk process,
where a song is passed on and alterations are made to verses (Dunaway 2010: 141). These folk
songs evolved to embody the movements they were used for: Those songs came out of the
movement. The songs came out of very specific movements (Dunaway 2010: 139). Folk music,
which can... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Due to the folk process, the style and performance of the song changed depending on where the
song was used and who was performing it: We Shall Overcome in Albany loosened way up with
lots of space for improvisations, lots of antiphony and answering and calling, and it stayed that way
in terms of the black movement in the South wherever it went after that. So Albany to a large extent
took all the music that had been done up to that point, and transformed it (Dunaway 2010, 139 140).
We Shall Overcome is a folk song because it came out of tradition, common experience, and
generations of resistance (Dunaway 2010: 140). The song s origins are unclear, but can be traced
back to a song that slaves had sung while working and old church songs that were never written
down until 1900. Additionally, the adaptability and flexibility of the song s structure can be found
in other folk songs during the Civil Rights Movement: The evolution of We Shall Overcome from
a religious folk song to the anthem of the integration movement is a case study of folk process
(Dunaway 2010, 141).
The commercialization of We Shall Overcome would have taken away all of the power that the
song possesses and its significance in the Civil Rights Movement. The beauty of folk music is its
freedom, not its marketability: The music was neither academic nor commercial; it was not
generated simply to

Single Gender Schools
Many people believe that single gender schools have no positive effect on students, research
shows otherwise. In single gender schools there is less drama, it helps preserve culture, there are
less stereotypes, and test scores and confidence levels rise. Single gender schools have many
positive impacts, and they help students prepare for the future.
For starters there is less drama at an all girls school. Since there aren t any guys on campus, you
aren t gonna be jealous of a couple at school. Another reason there is less drama is that you aren t
vying for the guys attention. This also leads to more modesty. Loran Wilbur , who went to an all
girls school said, There was a lot less pressure for appearance at Wellesley. Girls usually just
wore sweat pants and a t shirt. Lastly you don t have to worry about how a guys gonna treat you
because of how you look. A lot of drama is based on relationships and attractions. Remove the
opposite gender from the equation and you have lessened the problem drastically.
Next off single gender schools help preserve many different cultures. In the Islamic or Muslim
culture the co ed schools are promoting illicit relationships, teenage pregnancies, dating, girlfriend
boyfriend culture, extravagance where both sexes throw their parents hard earned money on
materialism and luxurious items to attract the opposite sex (http://defence.pk/threads/co education

Characterization of Antigone in Sophocles Antigone
Sophocles tragic drama, Antigone, presents to the reader a full range of characters: static and
dynamic, flat and round; they are portrayed mostly through the showing technique.
In Sophocles Praise of Man and the Conflicts of the Antigone, Charles Paul Segal takes the stand
that there are two protagonists in the drama (which conflicts with this reader s interpretation):
This is not to say that there are not conceptual issues involved in the characters of Creon and

Abstract:
Toll like receptor 4 (TLR 4) plays important roles in innate immunity. Changes in the reduction
oxidation balance of tissues can lead to a pro inflammatory state and insulin resistance. An action
thought to be mediated by TLRs. Omega 3 fatty acids and Peroxisome Proliferator Activated

of this study is to investigate the anti diabetic effects of combining omega 3 fatty acid with
pioglitazone on type 2 diabetes, and the modulating effects on TLR 4. Type 2 diabetes was

The Difference Between Southerners And Rednecks In The South
The term Southerner tends to mean different things to different people. According to Webster
dictionary, a southerner is a native or inhabitant of the south. If you ask someone that lives in the
south, most will say that Southerners have a friendly, good mannered attitude, and are some of the
best people in the world. To northerners the south has a reputation of being prejudice, dumb, and
narrow minded but that s not always true. Southerns are actually nice good hearted people if you
don t judge them too quickly. Not all southerners are what you would say rednecks and hillbillies .
The term redneck is different than the term southerner , southerners are actually intelligent, and
southern slang is easy to understand. There is a difference between being a southerner and being a
redneck. Redneck are considered to be an uneducated white farm laborer, especially from the South
. The stereotype of people that live in the south being uneducated and unable to carry on a
conversation is worse than southerners themselves. There are uneducated people all over the world
and yet it all comes back to the south. There are people that are not southerners that meets the
stereotype of being dumb and narrow minded. Southerners stereotype northerners just like they
stereotype them but that needs to stop. A southerner can be just as well educated and capable as
others and still be put down because they are from the south. Most southerners if you have a

Gerald Ford Biography
Following his defeat in the 1976 presidential election, Gerald Ford retired to Rancho Mirage,
California. Thereafter, Ford appeared frequently in public as a speaker, lecturing for private
audiences and on university campuses. In his post presidential years, Ford wrote a number of
books, including an account of his presidency, A Time to Heal (1979), and Humor and the
Presidency (1987). Always very athletic, Ford continued to enjoy the game of golf.
However, Ford s exit from Washington did not immediately end his political ambitions. He
surprised most observers when he entered into discussions with Ronald Reagan in 1980 about
running on the Republican ticket with the former governor of California. However, Ford took
the offer to the media (specifically to CBS anchor Walter Cronkite in a convention interview);
feeling betrayed, an angry Reagan withdrew the offer, which ultimately went to George H.W.
Bush. During the 1980s and 1990s, Ford emerged as an elder statesman in the Republican Party.
Likewise, Ford wrote extensively on domestic and foreign policy issues of the day. He also

Tips For Buying Commercial Pop Up Toasters
Guide to: Buying Commercial Toasters
Types
Commercial Pop Up Toasters
Commercial pop up toasters are ideally suited to small establishments with relatively low output
and less counter top space. They are somewhat similar to your typical domestic toaster and are as
easy to use and maintain, whilst being more hardwearing and durable for heavy use.
Pop up toasters come in 2, 4, 6, 8 and even 12 slice configurations which can have an output of
180 400 slices an hour depending on the size and model. Commercial pup up toasters are able to
toast bread, bagels and English muffins.
Conveyer Toasters
Conveyor toasters are the most versatile toasters with suppliers offering a wide range of types,
sizes and capabilities. Also known as rotary toasters, these heavy duty toasters provide a higher
output than pop up by feeding multiple slices at once through a conveyor belt system. Bread is
placed on a wire conveyor and is exposed to a double sided heating element as it rotates through the
machine. The toasted bread then falls into a chute for collection.
Some conveyor toasters can handle 180 1,000 slices per hour and can cater for a wide range of
breads. They are available in two a three slice versions. Be sure to check what you will be serving
at your establishments in order to get the right toaster. These toasters require minimal effort from
staff (apart from topping up bread) making them ideal for self service restaurants.
Consider buying a conveyor toaster when toasting up to

As a result, Africa s cultural identity has been what sociologist Ulf Hannerz calls creolized (6),
which, as seen in the history of soccer, can be yet another facet for neo colonialism. From these
roots of colonialism and neo colonialism grew the sport of soccer. Initially, in the 1860s it was
introduced by Britain in South Africa (Armstrong Football 8) and other countries, such as France

everyday meals as well as special occasions are the bandeja paisa which is red beans mixed with
pork, rice, fried egg, arepa, sauce and more; the ajiaco which is a chicken dish with potatoes and
herbs; and the cuchuco which is a soup containing corn, barley, and mashed beans. Their
breakfast is usually small, lunch is the main meal of the day, and dinner is another light meal.
Colombia holds many festivals during the year. The Barranquilla Carnival is one of the biggest
Colombian events and occurs in February for four days where people attend parades and dance to
music. The World Salsa Festival is held in August at the world capital of salsa music, Cali. Over
4,000 people arrive to enjoy this eight day music festival. There are numerous festivals year round
in Colombia. The notable customs and traditions of the country attract tourists from all over the

British Culture And Differences Between British And...
While I have been living in the UK for two months, I have noticed many differences between
British culture and Chinese culture, especially in an aspect of social etiquette.
Britain and China are both countries that have the long history and splendid civilisations, have been
known for their ceremonies and etiquette through the ages. However, as the typical representative
of the Western culture and the Eastern culture, it can be something unique and distinct of social
etiquette between this two countries, in the aspects of meeting and greeting, visiting a home, gift
giving, table manners, compliment and gratitude.
The British seem to be reserved when they first meet someone. The handshake is a standard way
of greeting in Britain, even for children, and there are no issues over gender. (10 British Etiquette
and Customs you should learn, 2017) Chinese people also shake hands upon meeting, merely, in
the formal or official occasion, and simultaneously lower their eyes slightly as a sign of respect.
People only nod or salute instead of shaking hands as a greeting to friends and family. In Britain,
sometimes people will embrace or kiss the other person if they are family or a very close friend.
(10 British Etiquette and Customs you should learn, 2017) In China, people seem to be more
conservative because they rarely treat others with hug or kiss unless they are the lovers. Both in
Britain and China, use people s family names is appropriate when you address an unfamiliar person.

Questions For The Group Discussion
Two Questions for the group discussion:
Inside a church, a pastor has flipped a verse of the bible to accommodate polygamy. Consulted by a
business millionaire, the pastor ransacked the bible and finally arrived at a verse to support the holy
matrimony. Quoting Isaiah 4:1 the pastor joined the notable influential member with three women .
Does the text Isaiah 4:1 justify the polygamous wedding?
During the discussion, which follows the presentation, the group was amazed at the shocking photo
of a man franked with three women in their weeding attires. The scenario in a sociological
dimension prompted the geographical background where the wedding could have happened. It is
assumed that most Christian communities view polygamy as an abominable act, which presumably
does not conform with most biblical canons. For some geographical areas, it is illegal and
punishable by law, particularly in western society; yet it is acceptable in some countries and
shockingly among faith communities.
The expression that the Pastor flipped a verse of the Bible to accommodate polygamy , could be
inferred that the pastor was either desperate for the man s money or that he was afraid of losing
his membership in his church; and so, he was ready to do anything to keep his buoyant church
member. However, for charity sake, we do not know the bigger picture of what really happened or
what might have moved the pastor to succumb to the risky demand. Sociologically his society
allows it otherwise

Role Of Rick Blaine In Casablanca
The movie, Casablanca, directed by Michael Curtiz is a story within a story. In order for one to
truly appreciate the greatness of the film, one has to look beyond what meets the eye. By doing so,
one can identify the importance of the character, Rick Blaine. While Rick Blaine is the main
character and protagonist in the film, the true importance of his role can only be identified by
looking at his character s development. Throughout the course of the film, Casablanca, the character
Rick Blaine goes through a series of character developments.
In the opening of the film, Casablanca, the main character Rick Blaine is introduced. Upon
introduction, one can easily see that Blaine is a very harsh, cynical man who pushes women away
despite the fact that they are all over him. Blaine is the owner of a nightclub, and he often chooses
to isolate himself from customers. Not only does he stay in insolation, but he also refuses to ... Show

This new Blaine is what he was like in the past. Therefore, one is sent back in history. Once back
in history, Blaine is a very romantic and compassionate man. He was deeply in love with Ilsa.
The film later identifies that, Rick Blaine was on the anti fascism campaign in Paris, and he was
blacklisted as a result of his involvement. When the Nazis were invading Paris, he had to escape
from Paris in order to avoid persecution. He was planning on Ilsa escaping with him, but she
never showed up at the train station. This new revelation revealed what caused such a drastic
change in Blaine. When Ilsa left him, he felt like he is insides have been kicked out (Casablanca).
This abandonment caused Blaine to drastically change. He went from being a compassionate,
romantic man to a harsh, cynical one. Blaine also probably changed from being on the anti
fascism campaign to being apolitical because he felt like his campaign is what made him lose Ilsa,
the love of his

Nuclear Disarmament Persuasive Speech
In April 2009 President Barack Obama made a speech in Prague in which he pledged to work
towards achieving worldwide nuclear disarmament. He called for the banning of nuclear tests and
the strengthening of the Nuclear Non proliferation Treaty and declared that the United States would
lead by example and take considerable steps towards achieving a nuclear weaponfree world. This
vision of a nuclear weapon free world falls in line with Global Zero , an initiative launched in
Paris in December 2008 by George Shultz, Henry Kissinger, William Perry, and Sam Nunn
campaigns for complete nuclear disarmament. (Global Zero, 2016)
The speech evoked mixed responses from both advocates and critics alike. It can be argued, that
although the President s aspirations are both honorable and praiseworthy, there are ground realities
that make the execution of this plan, as well as wide acceptability of the project rather challenging.
First and foremost, it is important to explore what steps the Obama administration have taken
themselves in order to work towards achieving nuclear disarmament and if these have been
substantial.
It has now been seven years since the President gave his speech in Prague. A year after his speech,
in April 6 2010, the Obama administration released a Nuclear Posture Review (NPR). The NPR
emphasizes on the need to counter nuclear proliferation and terrorism and stresses on keeping other
countries from acquiring Nuclear weapons. It also reduces the role of Nuclear

How Did Tom Robinson Change In To Kill A Mockingbird
Harper Lee s To Kill A Mockingbird is set in Maycomb, Alabama in the 1930s. Racism is ever
present toward blacks and the trial of Tom Robinson, an African American, clearly displays this.
Tom Robinson was accused of raping a white woman. The huge detail in this is that it was a
white woman. Racial issues are really brought about because of that detail. People during this
time would easily take a white man s word over that of a black man, so nobody would ever trust
Tom Robinson, especially since he was a black man being accused of a crime against a white
woman. Tom Robinson really can t do anything to help his case. The only person that can help
him is Atticus. While Atticus does not believe that he will win the case, he knows that it is right
to do everything he can to help Tom. He knows right from wrong and he will do everything in his
power to help people see that, and to help Tom survive this case. Tom Robinson could also be
described as a Mockingbird in this story. If proven innocent, he would be... Show more content on

It can happen quickly, in a matter of minutes. It can also take its time and happen over a period
of several years. In the case of racism, it took peaceful action to change the wrongs that were
being committed. It took 30 years for someone to see that acting violently was not going to help
the problem, but strengthen it. This person was Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Nonviolent protests
finally were the answer to a problem that had gone on for such a long time. Between the 1930s
and the 1960s there were really no changes having to do with racism. Whites treated blacks so
lowly and that hadn t changed between the time when Harper Lee s story is set and the civil
rights movement. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was able to show people how they could get their
word across through non violent protesting, he was able to captivate people and move them to see
what was right and what was wrong, and he was able to change an ongoing problem for the

Harriet Lowell s Impact On American Women
When describing Harriet Robinson s account of mill life, it was said that it lets us see the
women as active participants in their own lives. ( Modern History ). Nothing could be more true.
Lowell, a city filled with mills powered by the Merrimack River became the country s dream a
place where industry and economy flourished. ( At the Clang ). Like with Lowell, girls from New
England flocked to mills and factories in search of a better life and new opportunities. ( At the
Clang ). Although some may claim that factorylife was a negative experience and hurt the mill girls,
it is clear that the Industrial Revolutionimpacted the lives of American workers in a positive way,

Before women worked in factories, girls didn t have many opportunities to speak in public.
When they went to work in mills and factories this changed. For example, in one of the early
strikes, a woman made a speech about how it was their duty to resist all attempts at cutting down
wages. This was the first time a woman had spoken public in Lowell... ( Modern History ), and it
shows how women gained more rights, as they were able to speak out about their beliefs. Not
only did women give speeches, but they also decided to strike ( Modern History ) when their
rights were being threatened. This happened once in Lowell when the factory girls were told
that they would be paid less ( Modern History ). Factory girls also protested by signing petitions
and going to meetings about movements (Patterson). These are all examples of how women
stood up for what they believed in while working at mills. Therefore, the factories made a
positive impact on the girls, for they gained enough confidence and bravery to speak out after
they had few rights. No longer were they quiet and meek women like the overseers assumed ( At
the Clang ). Because of these many early marches, a historian mentioned that the striking mill
girls efforts helped give birth to the American labor movement ( At the Clang ), showing the
influence that girls had to push for equal working conditions and equal pay. It has even been said
that the strikes had made a precedent for many more ones ( Modern History ). Clearly, because
women were able to stand up for what they believed in, they were able to have create a future
where workers could freely protest and support the issues that they thought were important. As a
result, by striking, women were able to stand up for their rights a positive change that resulted from
women working in factories during the Industrial

Second Great Awakening Movement
A second great awakening emerged toward the end of the eighteenth century in New England.
Unlike the first great awakening, this movement of the Holy Spirit used intellectual institutions of
higher learning as the spark that ignited this awakening that eventually spread across this new
nation. Yale University with its president, Timothy Dwight, the grandson of Jonathan Edwards is
seen as one ignition points of this movement. The early fruit of this movement included the
founding of many organizations dedicated to making the gospel known across this new land and
across the globe. Mission organizations such as the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign
Missions are seen as a direct fruit of this movement.
Another important outcome of this movement is seen in the breaking down of ethnic origins and
religious affiliations. In other words, as immigrants flooded into America and moved west into the
new frontier, religious affiliations they brought with them faded away. An example of how this
worked is seen in the Methodist camp meetings and the circuit riding Methodist preachers who
brought the gospel into these new areas and to the new citizens living in these areas. These camp
meetings often lasted for days with many coming to the Lord as the Holy Spirit moved across and
through this new land. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While Americans believed that God s hand was on this new country, it led some to interpret this
belief that non white did have not a place or part in this plan. This led to the War with Mexico and
ultimately the American Civil War. For the church, denominations divided on this issue based on
their stance on the issue of slavery. An example of this divide is seen in the Southern Baptist
Convention, which formed after a slave holding missionary candidate was refused a

Postitive Influence of Rock Music
Positive Influences of Rock Music
Beneath misconceptions attached to rock music, lies the truth. In a recent unpublished survey,
results showed that the majority of people, a mixture of different age groups and genre listeners,
disagree that rock music has had any positive influences that outweigh the negative (Do). Through
lack of analyzing, many judge rock music without ever knowing the truth about it. Those that do
not understand the genre may blame it for everything that is wrong with today. Rock music is not
to blame for the darkness in our society; instead, it leads us away from it. It has many positive
influences that cannot be seen at a quick glance. Not only has rock affected individuals but society
and time altogether. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

while billions spent on bombs, create death showers (System of a Down).
Bands such as System of a Down are often charged with lyrics depicting their political views in
the world they live in. Rage Against the Machine similarly expressed their views through rock
music. They have been known to burn flags at their concerts, not to be malicious, but to make their
audience aware of freedom of speech and self expression. Many have followed suit and become
more involved with politics through bands like these, showing them that it is okay to be educated
in the issues around them. Recently with a push from punk bands, many have taken initiative to
vote and get educated in the 2004 elections. Punk rock bands joined together to start a website to
further influence and educate their audience called PunkVoter.com. Although they were biased

The Way Wordsworth and Heaney Present Nature and Rural Life in Their Poetry
Born 1770, in Cockermouth, William Wordsworth spent his early life and many of his formative
years attending a boys school in Hawkshead, a village in the Lake District. As can be seen in his
poetry, the years he spent living in these rural surroundings provided many of the valuable
experiences Wordsworth had as he grew up.
At the age of 17, Wordsworth moved south to study at Saint John s College, University of
Cambridge. Later, in 1790, two years after the French Revolution had begun; he took a walking tour
through France and Switzerland on vacation. France obviously captivated Wordsworth s attention,
because a year ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Within his poetry, Wordsworth contemplates the relationship between nature and human life. He
considers his pantheistic beliefs, while realising that nature has many different facets and possesses
the power to have spiritual and emotional impacts on the human form.
Wordsworth achieves this in his poetry by presenting nature in many different ways. This is
shown clearly in the poem, Daffodils where we can see Wordsworth exploring nature as a source
of wonderment; he responds and relates himself to the two underlying themes of memory and
imagination, on a spiritual level. Throughout the poem, it is clear that his focus was not to merely
describe, in the form of a detailed account, how he saw the daffodils and their surroundings, but to
consider the ways in which they affected how he felt that day and looking back when he reflects on
that experience. It has a wistful and nostalgic tone, with a strong feeling of sentiment.
The poem begins with a personal feeling of solitariness and despondency with the opening line, I
wandered lonely as a cloud that floats on high o er vales and hills. Wordsworth uses this simile to
compare himself to a cloud, which has many implications concerning how Wordsworth was feeling
that day. The word, lonely suggests that he felt isolated or simply free and

Isolation In Death Of A Salesman Essay
In today s society, there is an abundance of ways to isolate one s self. Many do not realize the
complications that come with prolonged isolation. Arthur Miller, an American playwright of
multiple plays, specifically Death of a Salesman, has won multiple awards, such as; Pulitzer Prize
for Drama, and a Tony Award for Best Play. Miller, is able to distinctly represent complications,
that are coupled with isolation, for Linda and Willy Loman, coping mechanisms for isolation are

isolation.
For some isolation is due to themselves, others are faced with isolation from another. Linda

Palm Oil Issues
In late 2009 Cadbury announced that they were using palm oil as a cheaper alternative to coca
butter in its dairy milk chocolate bar. Cadbury has reduced the amount of cocoa solids from 26%
to 21% and added nasty vegetable fats specifically palm oil to compensate. The company claims
that it s done this, not to save costs as you might think, but to improve the customer experience.
In total, tens of millions of tons of palm oil is produced annually, accounting for over 30% of the
world s vegetable oil production. This single vegetable oil is found in approximately 40 50% of
household products in many developed countries like Australia. Palm oil can be present in a wide

toothpaste and in our case; Cadbury chocolate. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Children are made to carry large loads of heavy fruit, weed fields and spend hours every day bent
over collecting fruit from the plantation floor. To build palm oil plantations, producers clear trees in
tropical rainforests, destroying the biodiverse regions. Deforestation is a significant contributor to
climate change; when the forests are lost, carbon is released into the atmosphere, causing global
warming.
Environmental organizations like Greenpeace and World Wildlife Fund have admitted that finding
an alternative crop is not a practical solution and instead advocate for industry reforms. In the
meantime, palm oil production is laying waste to the environment. Despite the environmental
impact, the Indonesian government plans to convert 45 million acres of rainforest into palm oil
plantations by 2020. The tropical nation has already allowed the deforestation of 25 million acres
of peat lands to make room for palm oil

  • 2. Building A Financial Portfolio For A Hypothetical Client Introduction This report will lay out the various steps involved in construction a financial portfolio for a hypothetical client. This report will lay out the various steps involved, right from the acquisition of the client, to the constructing of a portfolio, and back testing that portfolio to see how the portfolio performed over the most recent one or three year period. The process of portfolio management involves a lot of subjective and objective analysis, especially when dealing with individual high net worth clients. While the definition of a high net worth client varies, it is usually taken to mean an individual with more than $1 million of investable assets excluding collectibles, consumer durables and the primary residence (The Guardian, 2014). For the purpose of this report, our hypothetical client has the following characteristics: Age: 56 Employment Status: Employed Time Horizon: 25 years Investable Assets: $5 million Domicile: London, United Kingdom Years to Retirement: 5 Level of Risk Aversion: High Other preferences: Not looking for capital growth, mainly income with low volatility; Prefer passive investing The objective of any portfolio manager is to maximize return for a given level of risk, or minimize risk to achieve a certain level of return. The objectives relate to making decisions about the investment mix, matching investments to objectives, and balancing risk versus performance (CFA Society, 2010). Portfolio Construction ... • 3. Full Range Leadership According to Bruce Avolio, What we have clearly learned is that leaders who can balance transactional and transformational leadership across time, situations, and challenges are the most effective (Avolio 2011, 49). People have a greater sense of ownership at the highest levels in terms of identification and are willing to provide the extra effort needed to succeed (Avolio 2011, 49). Yet, Rusty Ricketson wrote, Those who embrace the followerfirst perspective are not dependent on titles or positions in order to gain a sense of identity and worth. They understand that good leaders are good followers (Ricketson 2014, 197). Although Avolio supports Full Range Leadershipand Ricketson support Following Leaders there are both... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is observed conflict between Transactional Leaders and Following Leader, The Following Leader seeks to raise the level of the leader follower relationship to one in which both leader and follower are responding based upon a common desire to honor God (Ricketson 2014, 213). Laissez faire leadership (LF) is the behavior of those individuals in a group who, in the extreme, do not care what happens, avoid taking responsibility, cannot make up their minds, and are satisfied to sit and wait for others to take the necessary initiatives imposed by the tasks at hand (Avolio 2011, 55). In Full Range Leadership and Following Leader the LF is not an effective approach. In terms of building the full range of leadership potential, how often you exhibit a certain set of behaviors along the range ultimately determines how effective you are over time as a leader Avolio 2011, 56). • 5. Buser V. Corpus Christi Independent School Case Study All parents and/or guardians are awarded due process in the United States court system. IDEA gives parents the opportunity for a child with a disability the rights to examine their personal records, participate in meetings such as, IEPs and ARDs with the respect to the identification, evaluation, and educationof the child s placement and also free public education (Osbourne Russo). Although most of the due process rights in the IDEA are for the benefit of children, the Supreme Court ruled that parents have rights of their own independent of those of their children (Osbourne Russo, p. 96). In this paper it will analyze the court case of Buser v. • 6. Essay on William the Conqueror William I became known as William the Conqueror through his will and determination. William gained power through his father and soon he climbed high enough to conquer England and become its new king. William was born in 1028 at Falaise Castle. He was the son of Robert the Duke of Normandy and Herleve, the daughter of a tanner in Falaise. Robert was said to have caught sight of Herleve while she was washing her linens in the castle moat. William s father went on a pilgrimage in 1034 to release his sins. While returning home from his journey, he died suddenly. Having no other heir, William took his place as Duke of Normandy. In the middle of September, England was invaded by Harold Hardrada, King of Norway. He was accompanied by Tostig, Earl of Northumbria, Harold s unruly and discontented brother, who had earlier been banished and his earldom confiscated Harold went north to meet the invaders at Stamford Bridge in Yorkshire, where he won a victory over the Viking army. The winds William had been waiting for turned favorable and he set sail with his massive army. News of his landing at Pevensey was told to Harold, who responded by hurrying south to meet him, giving his exhausted army no rest. If Harold had rested and reorganized his army, the outcome of the battle and English history could have been very different. On the 14th of October, the Saxon and Norman forces clashed in the Battle of Hastings. Harold took up a defensive position on Senlac Ridge. The Norman army was forced to attack uphill, placing them at a disadvantage. A rumor arose in the Norman ranks that William was dead, causing panic. Many of the Saxon fyrdd pursued the fleeing Normans down the hill. William raised his armies morale by loudly announcing that he was still alive. The Normans with new strength fought hard against the Saxons, Harold s brothers Gyrth and Leofwine were both slain on the battlefield. The battle continued for most of the ... According to the Venezuelan Government website, Venezuelan history goes back 15,000 to 5.000 years before our era. The night of November 7th 2000 put a flawed aspect of American democracy at the forefront of the world stage. The election to the office of the leader of the free world, the Presidency of the United States of America was in question. How could a candidate receive more votes and still lose in the richest most powerful democracy in the world? I need not to go into a debate about the Electoral College as my stance will be clarified rather clearly. The night of the election it seemed as if the Vice President and candidate for the Democratic Partywas poised for a close victor. As the polls closed along the eastern seaboard, exit polling information indicated a clear, but narrow lead for the Vice President as he still need to secure Florida and two states totaling 15 electoral votes or more to win the Presidency (Toobin, 18). At 7:49 EST, NBC called Florida and the election for Gore, and so did 2 of the 4 major television networks did the same in the following minutes. As the night continued Gore secured Minnesota and New Mexico, but confusion in exit polling data had led to a premature call for Gore (18, Toobin). As the red eye hours of the morning continued all four media outlets reported a flood of data from Volusia County, Daytona Beach put Bush up by more than 50,000 votes, thus the media outlets followed suit and eventually called Florida for Bush. The ad interim government of the new Republic of Texas and much of the civilian population fled eastward ahead of the Mexican forces. The conflict arose after Antonio LГіpez de Santa Anna abrogated the 1824 constitution of Mexico and established martial law in Coahuila y Tejas. The Texians resisted and declared their independence. It was Sam Houston s responsibility, as the appointed commander in chief of the Provisional Army of Texas (before such an army actually existed), to recruit and train a military force to defend the population against troops led by Santa Anna. Residents on the Gulf Coast and at San Antonio de BГ©xar began evacuating in January upon learning of the Mexican army s troop movements into their area, an event that was ultimately replayed across Texas. During early skirmishes, some Texian soldiers surrendered, believing that they would become prisoners of war but Santa Anna demanded their executions. The news of the Battle of the Alamo and the Goliad massacre instilled fear in the population and resulted in the mass exodus of the civilian population of Gonzales, where the opening battle of the Texian revolution had begun and where, only days before the fall of the Alamo, they had sent a militia to reinforce the defenders at the mission. The civilian refugees were accompanied by the newly forming provisional army, as Houston bought time to train soldiers and create a military structure that could oppose Santa Anna s greater forces. ... • 11. The Use Of Calvinism By Robert Frost Robert Frost incorporated Calvinism into his poetic work to emphasize his belief in this Protestant theological system. Frost lived in a Calvinist society throughout his life, influencing him to believe in such a system. The death of Frost s family members, drove him to live such a dark life, and turning to find gratification through Calvinism. Frost made sure to demonstrate the struggle of the characters in his poetry as if they were trying to escape something that was not possible, such as Calvinism. Once a human joins this religion, the rest of their life is determined for them and they are subjected to either hell or rarely heaven. Robert Frost made use of Calvinism throughout his poetry to emphasize the mindset of such individuals.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are parts of his religion that he must stay true and values that mean something due to his strong faith. Calvinism is shown strongly throughout this poem, for one example, in that one has a life to live however, God is ultimately all powerful and in full control of every part of life. The next example comes from the poem Acquainted With The Night, Frost starts off this poem by stating I have been one acquainted with night (Frost 1). Looking further into this poem, one can interpret that the speaker was once drawn to evil, and has gone through struggles in life, however, he has outwalked this struggle in life. God has put him through this clearly for a reason and proves that he truly does have all power. Going through tough times, Frost kept his faith strong, despite believing he was damned. I have stood still and stopped the sound of feet / When far away an interrupted cry/ Came over houses from another street, (Frost 7 9) Frost is hearing the sounds of a watchman or inner voice talking to him. The voice was not there to tell him what to do just to remind him that He is always there watching over him. When the speaker looks up, he sees the luminary clock, (Frost 12) or the moon, he states once again I have been acquainted with the night, (Frost 14) stating once again the he believes he has been damned. • 12. I Hear The Cry Of My Life I hear the cry. Of course it is four thirty in the morning and my little boy is ready for his middle of the night feeding. This is the everyday life of a mother of two. I wrap my bundle of joy up and feed him. While this usually isn t a normal time for people to think about their hopes and dreams it tends to be mine. At the age of sixteen, I moved with my husband to Norman and realized that the best opportunities for my family s future would be to pursue a professional degree. My college experience began the summer after I graduated a year early from high school. This definitely left me clueless at answering the dreaded question, What are you going to do for the rest of your life? But the one thing I had set in stone was being in the medical field. After picking the wrong major over and over, I felt passionate and committed to follow a career in medical imaging. When I think about a sonographer s job the first thing that comes to mind is a computer. Recently, I had multiple ultrasounds during my second pregnancy. Every time I stepped into the perinatal center I got excited. While I was thrilled to see my little boy swimming around I couldn t help but be excited to see the ultrasound preformed. The guard s recounting of the actions of Antigone develop her character into all of its fullness as a most sentimental and religious person: And when, after a long while, this storm had passed, the maid was seen; and she cried aloud with the sharp cry of a bird in its bitterness, even as when, within the empty nest, it sees the bed stripped of its nestlings. So she also, when she saw the corpse bare, lifted up a voice of wailing, and called down curses on the doers of that deed. Abstract: Toll like receptor 4 (TLR 4) plays important roles in innate immunity. Changes in the reduction oxidation balance of tissues can lead to a pro inflammatory state and insulin resistance. An action thought to be mediated by TLRs. Omega 3 fatty acids and Peroxisome Proliferator Activated Receptor gamma (PPAR Оі) agonists as pioglitazone are used for decreasing inflammation. The aim of this study is to investigate the anti diabetic effects of combining omega 3 fatty acid with pioglitazone on type 2 diabetes, and the modulating effects on TLR 4. Type 2 diabetes was induced in male Sprague Dawley rats by combination of high fat diet and low dose streptozotocin (35 mg/kg). Diabetic rats were treated with omega 3 fatty acids (10% W/W diet), pioglitazone (20 mg/kg), and their combination for 4 weeks. Omega 3 fatty acids and the combination treatment significantly decreased TLR 4 activation. Omega 3 fatty acids, pioglitazone, and their combination significantly decreased TLR 4 mRNA expression, hepatic malondialdehyde, total cholesterol and triglycerides levels, compared to diabetic group. According to Webster dictionary, a southerner is a native or inhabitant of the south. If you ask someone that lives in the south, most will say that Southerners have a friendly, good mannered attitude, and are some of the best people in the world. To northerners the south has a reputation of being prejudice, dumb, and narrow minded but that s not always true. Southerns are actually nice good hearted people if you don t judge them too quickly. Not all southerners are what you would say rednecks and hillbillies . The term redneck is different than the term southerner , southerners are actually intelligent, and southern slang is easy to understand. There is a difference between being a southerner and being a redneck. Redneck are considered to be an uneducated white farm laborer, especially from the South . The stereotype of people that live in the south being uneducated and unable to carry on a conversation is worse than southerners themselves. There are uneducated people all over the world and yet it all comes back to the south. There are people that are not southerners that meets the stereotype of being dumb and narrow minded. As a result, Africa s cultural identity has been what sociologist Ulf Hannerz calls creolized (6), which, as seen in the history of soccer, can be yet another facet for neo colonialism. Initially, in the 1860s it was introduced by Britain in South Africa (Armstrong Football 8) and other countries, such as France and Portugal, followed in other regions. Associated colonizing individuals and groups including missionaries, teachers, soldiers, and other colonial settlers acted as prime catalysts (8). Consulted by a business millionaire, the pastor ransacked the bible and finally arrived at a verse to support the holy matrimony. Quoting Isaiah 4:1 the pastor joined the notable influential member with three women . Does the text Isaiah 4:1 justify the polygamous wedding? During the discussion, which follows the presentation, the group was amazed at the shocking photo of a man franked with three women in their weeding attires. The scenario in a sociological dimension prompted the geographical background where the wedding could have happened. It is assumed that most Christian communities view polygamy as an abominable act, which presumably does not conform with most biblical canons. For some geographical areas, it is illegal and punishable by law, particularly in western society; yet it is acceptable in some countries and shockingly among faith communities. The expression that the Pastor flipped a verse of the Bible to accommodate polygamy , could be inferred that the pastor was either desperate for the man s money or that he was afraid of losing his membership in his church; and so, he was ready to do anything to keep his buoyant church member. However, for charity sake, we do not know the bigger picture of what really happened or what might have moved the pastor to succumb to the risky demand. For example, in one of the early strikes, a woman made a speech about how it was their duty to resist all attempts at cutting down wages. This was the first time a woman had spoken public in Lowell... ( Modern History ), and it shows how women gained more rights, as they were able to speak out about their beliefs. Not only did women give speeches, but they also decided to strike ( Modern History ) when their rights were being threatened. This happened once in Lowell when the factory girls were told that they would be paid less ( Modern History ). Factory girls also protested by signing petitions and going to meetings about movements (Patterson). These are all examples of how women stood up for what they believed in while working at mills. Therefore, the factories made a positive impact on the girls, for they gained enough confidence and bravery to speak out after they had few rights. Unlike the first great awakening, this movement of the Holy Spirit used intellectual institutions of higher learning as the spark that ignited this awakening that eventually spread across this new nation. Yale University with its president, Timothy Dwight, the grandson of Jonathan Edwards is seen as one ignition points of this movement. The early fruit of this movement included the founding of many organizations dedicated to making the gospel known across this new land and across the globe. Mission organizations such as the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions are seen as a direct fruit of this movement. Another important outcome of this movement is seen in the breaking down of ethnic origins and religious affiliations. In other words, as immigrants flooded into America and moved west into the new frontier, religious affiliations they brought with them faded away. An example of how this worked is seen in the Methodist camp meetings and the circuit riding Methodist preachers who brought the gospel into these new areas and to the new citizens living in these areas. Within his poetry, Wordsworth contemplates the relationship between nature and human life. He considers his pantheistic beliefs, while realising that nature has many different facets and possesses the power to have spiritual and emotional impacts on the human form. Wordsworth achieves this in his poetry by presenting nature in many different ways. This is shown clearly in the poem, Daffodils where we can see Wordsworth exploring nature as a source of wonderment; he responds and relates himself to the two underlying themes of memory and imagination, on a spiritual level. Throughout the poem, it is clear that his focus was not to merely describe, in the form of a detailed account, how he saw the daffodils and their surroundings, but to consider the ways in which they affected how he felt that day and looking back when he reflects on that experience. It has a wistful and nostalgic tone, with a strong feeling of sentiment. The poem begins with a personal feeling of solitariness and despondency with the opening line, I wandered lonely as a cloud that floats on high o er vales and hills.
