The ocean biome contains many biotic components like fish, crabs, and seaweed as well as abiotic components such as water, oxygen, and rocks. Producers in the ocean include plankton and krill while consumers are diverse animals from jellyfish to whales. Food chains are established with phytoplankton and seaweed as primary producers and fish and sharks at higher trophic levels. Unfortunately, some ocean species are endangered or extinct, such as Ridley sea turtles, hammerhead sharks, and the great white shark.

2. BIOTIC AND ABIOTIC
Fish, crabs, starfish, seaweed, shrimp, sharks, and sponges
are all biotic components.

 Consumers in the ocean biome are zooplanktons, coral reef turtles,
crabs, dolphins, eels, fish, jellyfish, lobsters, octopus, seahorses, sharks,
stingrays, and whales.
 One primary consumer is small fish.
 One secondary consumer is seal.

4. FOOD CHAIN
 Phytoplankton and seaweed are both primary producers.
 Two herbivorous consumers are zooplankton and cockles.
 Juvenile stages of fish and jellyfish as well as small fish,
crustaceans and sea stars are 1st level consumers.
 Larger fish are 2nd level carnivorous consumers.
 Squid are 3rd level carnivores consumers.
 Sharks, dolphins, and albatross are 4th level consumers.

mackerels.
 The mackerels eats the small fish and the small fish eats the
shrimplike creatures.

6. ENDANGERED SPECIES
 Examples of endangered species are Ridley Turtles,
Humpback Whales, Finback Whales, and Gray Whales.
 Some other endangered animals are Hammerhead Sharks,
Vaquitas, Blue Whales, Florida Manatees, Steller Seal Lion,
and Hawaiian Monk Seals.

 Few examples of extinct species are Ammonites,
Basilosaurus, Cephalaspis, and Liopleurodon.
