STORE #1: WALMART
 Store draws me in with greeting employees and big entrance
 Automatic door= feels welcoming
 The sign is very big (across the whole store)
 The sign tells me that the store has a wide range of items
 Environment: bright blue on walls, mostly white. I feel comfortable
  walking through the store
 Mosaic tile= makes the environment feel more classy
 Very high ceiling= lots of space
 Medium loud from customers
 Music playing very quietly in the background. Blends in naturally
STORE #1 WALMART (CONTINUED)
 Warm
 Crowded with merchandise
 No distinctive smell
 Cash register located in the front of the store
 Store security is very sparse and dispersed
 I wanted to stay at least an hour in the store
 Personnel: We need to first initiate contact with sales person
 Salesperson do not have a script
 Treat everyone equally
 Ratio of salespeople to customers: around 1: 20
STORE #1: WALMART (CONTINUED)
 Employees range from as young as 20 to as old as 70. Equal amount of
  males and females
 Salespeople are not using store products
 Have a uniform
 The salespeople were clean and courteous and matched the store’s
  image
 Product: I noticed bags of chips lined up neatly
 Central display table hanging from the ceiling
 Products arranged by function
 Some have free samples, some don’t
 Some products are at eye level, some are not
 The chips are always on the top of the counter
STORE #1: WALMART (CONTINUED)
Expensive items in the back, least expensive ones in the front
Chips, snacks, and shampoos were easiest to find
Gums, candies, magazines near the cash register
Customers were with people
Mostly adults
