or affect? Examples are:
• Development of brain tumor
• Risk of death (mortality)
• Weight loss

When applied to intervention, it can refer to the
patient’s relevant outcome, such as ‘what happens
to the patient as a result of the treatment’.
When applied to diagnostic test, outcome refers to
accurate diagnosis of the patient’s problem or
condition
