Nutrigenomics -
applications• Epigenomics can be defined as the study of the complete
set of epigenetic modifications in a cell or in a tissue at a
given time.
• The epigenetic studies the modification of DNA and proteins,
linking the DNA and histones, which may cause changes in
chromatin structure without changing the sequence of the
nucleotides
• Epigenetics is the
transmitted information
based on gene expression
as its changes begin slowly
but are progressive and
potentially reversible

: monitor the transcriptome,
proteome and metabolome.
•Transcriptomics
technologies are the
techniques used to study an
organism’s transcriptome,
the sum of all of its RNA
transcripts. (Example:
Microarrays, RNA-seq).

of all RNA molecules in one
cell or a population of cells

the complete set of proteins involved in the biological
processes of a certain species

• What is relative between single-nucleotide polymorphism
(SNPs) ?
• Nutrigenomics has also been described by the influence of
SNPs with a nutrient's absorption, metabolism, elimination
or biological effects

Among different types of genetic variation between humans, SNPs are suggested to be
the most important marker for the study of nutrigenomics.

associating gene is the FTO
gene
