Analysis on Atheism
To be honest with you I think some of McCloskey questions of the existence of God are based
and as a Christian I know I have questioned the existence of God at one point in my life. I had to
really learn the hard way. From the article one can see that McCloskey is trying very hard to
dismiss every claim of the theistic view. From the videos on blackboard, when someone decides to
prove something or someone, then that means there is certainty and assurance that thing is
absolutely true. The truth of the matter is that we cannot prove one hundred percent of the existence
of Godand that is why an Atheist like McCloskey would say that without evidence then there is no
God. McCloskey try s his best to scientifically prove that the creation of... Show more content on

I believe that every argument is defeasible. I think that the reason that McCloskey is saying this
is because he is arguing the God of the bible and not the minimalistic ideal of God. Everyone is
entitled to believe what he or she wants to believe, he saying that the cosmological argument, does
not entitle us to an all powerful and all perfect God but that still does not disvalue the rational of
there being a God in the first place and I believe that makes his statement meaningless in disproving
the necessity and presence of God.
When it comes to the teleological argument, McCloskey also claims that the teleological argument
lacks premises due to similar reasons as the cosmological argument. In short both arguments do not
prove God as a designer. In his mind, this argument is faulty because it does not show enough
evidence for the existence of God. What he means when he argues for a genuine indisputable
example of design of the universe is that he desired to see obvious proof for the existence of God.
He disagrees with the fact that it is impossible to proof something with one hundred evidence. In
Evans and Manis, when they talk about some noticeable evidences that prove the existence of God
in Philosophy of religion, they said that the way in which nature and the universe is organized and
structured there must be a

Cause And Effect Of The Seven Years War
eventually give birth to the Seven Years War that would be fought in the Midwest of North
America. The Seven Years War The feud between Great Britain and France began long ago in
1740 s when they both claimed the Ohio territory. However neither country did much to
substantiate their claims to the territory. The French began to build forts from Lake Erie to the
forks in Ohio with the goal of stifling trade between the Native Americans, Pennsylvanians and
Virginia traders. In May of 1747, the Ohio Company received 500,000 acres near the Forks of the
Ohio and just two years later, William Gooch, the lieutenant governor of Virginia granted an
additional 200,000 acres to the Ohio Company because of the potential French encroachment. The

Definition Of Funny Essay
In the quote from Mark Twain, Show me a man who knows what s funny, and I ll show you a man
who knows what s not , there is one word in particular that I would like to focus on. Funny. We all
know what funny means, something that causes you to laugh, something that s humorous. But,
what exactly falls under that definition? That s something you can t specifically decide. With so
many factors going into it, including an individual s personality, the area, the time, and more,
finding something that everyone believes to be funny would be hard.
For me specifically, the word funny brings to mind jokes I ve heard or read in my mind. More
specifically, I picture chickens crossing roads, cows interrupting conversations, and a variety of
different people and items knocking on doors. However, you may associate very different ideas
with the word. My father and sister both find it extremely hilarious to watch other people undergo
harm, while one of my best friends finds humor in making statements that have no blatantly
obvious connection with the current conversation and often don t make grammatical sense.
Everyone has their own sense of humor just as everyone has their own favorite colors, whilst some
may be the same, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So, how did these social groups come to exist between people that conflict in such a major area of
their lives? When confronted with divergent opinions or ideas we either diminish and dismiss
them or we adapt and accept them, although the latter occurs more frequently. Simply put, humans
are extremely flexible in their behavior and quickly conform to what is prevalent around them.
This is seen in every aspect of our lives, from clothing trends to language norms and even in
popular methods of amusement. So, as seen in any social construct, when we are in different
situations we adjust to fit in. This makes it possible to for us to form bonds with those around us
while retaining a personal sense of

Remembering Hells Canyon Analysis
On Tuesday, March 29, 2016 I attended a geography film event at Sykes called Remembering Hells
Canyon. The creator of this film, Patricia Keith, attended this event. Patricia Keith teaches video
production at a college level. Her production company, Buffalo Eddy Productions has created many
films. They re mostly known for making in hand adventures films in places like South America,
Southeast Asia, China, Canada and much more. Patricia explained how difficult it was to filmthese
adventure films. Most of these films are constructed in a remote location. These remote locations
are very hard to access by foot. Buffalo eddy used transportation like busses, trains, bush planes,

I was surprised when I found out that people live along side of such a beautiful canyon like this.
It is said that still to this day you can see signatures of past residence that lived here on rocks and
cabins. Although many don t remain settled there today, they still make routine deliveries to forest
service locations. It is amazing that a mail delivery system dating back to the 1920 s still continues
today. The most amazing part of this film is seeing how settlers lived in such a remote place on
earth. No electricity, no running water etc. Many citizens came to the United States because of the
industrial revolution. This reminds me of when we talked about the citizens came over seas in
hopes of a better life and getting a job. These citizens all lived in Miami and created their own
community much like Hells Canyon. While I was watching this film I just could not understand
on why many settlers chose to live here. Setting in the Hells Canyon is the complete opposite of
the industrial revolution. We talked about in class, people often are not choosing where to live but
actually forced to live where they do. I think the example of the Hells Canyon is the opposite.
Many settlers have actually moved and choose to live in this wild

Maya Case Study Essay
Having read and researched Maya s case study the first question I asked myself was, what is an
Adaptation within the human body? My understanding is that an adaptation within the body is
the long term physiological changes in response to frequent training, allowing the body to meet
new demands and help in the additional stresses that are placed on the body itself. In the case of
Maya, I have studied the chronic adaptations of Maya s muscular and cardiorespiratory system as
a response to her three months training and indeed her target goal to return to her preferred sport
of tennis. I believe that although Maya would be training in the correct way, playing tennis again
as well as the exercise regime she has designed would enable her to return to a good level of
fitness, and the standard that she had previously played. Maya s exercise regime would enable her
to strengthen her requirement and aspirations to play tennis again. Training exercises when lifting
weights is a result of the learning... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Maya s resting heart rate would also decrease as her training progresses due to the circulatory
system being more efficient. Accumulating lactic acid is much lower during higher levels of
activity, due to the circulatory system providing more oxygen resulting in the removal of waste
products faster. Arterial walls become more elasticated which allows greater tolerance of changes
in blood pressure. This would result in respiratory muscles (Diaphragm/intercostals) increasing in
strength thus giving a larger respiratory volume, which would allow more oxygen to be diffused
into the blood flow (VO2 max). This effect on Maya s body would lead to an increase in the
number and diameter of capillaries surrounding the alveoli leads to an increase in the efficiency of

Tiana Brown Personal Statement
Once upon a time, a little girl from southern New Jersey dreamed of working in the television
industry; the idea of being a part of creating television shows and movies amazed her immensely.
But when she told her family, they quickly erased that dream from her mind. The little girl s
family wanted her to become a doctor, lawyer, or have any other profession most adults tell
young children about. Because of this, she didn t think her dream would ever come true. The only
thig she wanted to do was please her family. About thirteen years ago, that little girl was me, Tiana

Conversion of Alcohol to Alkyl Halides
Introduction In this experiment, Conversion of Alcohol to Alkyl Halides and alcohol is
converted to an alkyl halide through SN1 or an SN2 mechanism. This is done by using 1
propanol and 2 pentantol with HBr, Hydrobromic acid. Only half of the groups will use 1
propanol, and 2 pentantol. All results are analyzed using NMR and IR. An SN1 reaction, requires
two steps. The first step, using an alcohol as an reactant, is the pronation of the OH group from
the R group. This produces a cation intermediate. The cation intermediate is attacked by the Br
group, from HBr. This is the second step. An SN2 mechanism, is only one step, unimolecular , and
spontaneous. In an alcohol, the Br group will attack at the water, H2O, is leaving the reaction. The
R group attacks to the Bromine leaving an excess water. Figure 1 Mechanism for 2 Pentantol SN1
Figure 2 2 Pentantol SN2 Mechanism Nuclear Magnetic Resonance, NMR, and Infrared, IR,
Spectroscopy are used to determine the structure of unknown compounds. Nuclear Magnetic
Resonance allows the student to see the nuclei in a molecule by the usage of light (1). The
spectrum shows how carbon can form a number of different bonds hydrogens present in the
molecule, double and single. IR spectroscopy gives an idea of the frequency of the molecules
through the vibrations of the molecules. Infrared shows how molecules can perform like springs
which connects with Hooke s Law. Hooke s Law is used to describe the vibrations of springs.

Personal Response on the On the Rainy River
ELA 30 1: Personal Essay
October 16, 2012
Gaddiel O. Matira
Is it fair to hold individuals responsible for a choice society pressured them to make?
Canada might have been one of the best places in the world but for me and Tim, Canada is a lot
more than that. For Tim O Brien s On the Rainy River , Canada is freedom: freedom from the draft
letter that pressures him to go to war, freedom from the war that he never understood and always
hated, freedom from the dirt, tent, and mosquitoes, freedom from that dense greasy pig stink and
blood clots in the slaughterhouse, freedom from his country, and freedom from his conscience... or
is it? On the other hand, for me, Canada is separation: separation from the friends and family who I

The same society that built the morals and beliefs and principles he has in him had then become the
same society that crippled him to make the choice of leaving all those behind as he stated, And
what was so sad, I realized, was that Canada had become a pitiful fantasy. Silly and hopeless. It
was no longer a possibility. Right then, with the shore so close, I understood that I would not do
what I should do. (55)
In the stories Tim O Brien and I shared, there is this one little detail in common, we both made a
choice. At first, the decision of moving to Canada felt like a selfish decision I was forced to
make only for the family s sake. Actually, I even held them responsible for my misery for a
couple of weeks. But as those weeks and months pass by, I came to realize that such choice was
actually one of the greatest things that can happen to me, for it was more than just an opportunity
for our family to be whole but a breakthrough to endless possibilities towards reaching my dreams.
However, for Tim, without any further details after he went to the war, we are

Why Attending School
I have not attended many different schools but I know that they all have more than one thing in
common, and these things need to be changed somehow, they are just not working. Whether you
are attending primary school, secondary school or college there are always issues with how we
are taught, what is being taught to us and how will it help us at the end of the day. I am sure there
are many reasons why we are taught the way we are and why we need to learn these things. The
list is endless. My entire schoollife I have come to discover patterns from different students
including myself. Attending school and learning is not boring or tiring. The schedule, the
process and the reasoning behind going to school is unfitting. First they tell us what time we
have to be in class without even considering the time of year and what season it is. It does not
sound like much to worry about. But I have realized that students tend to wake up late during the
winter, they take longer getting out of the bed and tend to eat and sleep more meaning they have
less time to focus on homework no attending classes. The early, cold and dark mornings during
winter make it hard for students to leave their beds. The issue is not waking up, the issue is getting
out of the bed. Even though a student might know that they will get into trouble for missing a
lesson, they would rather deal with the teacher than go and face the cold especially at 7h45 in the
morning. What I am trying to say is, in the winter we

The Importance Of Lifelong Learning
In a developing world, in which society and technology are evolving at an exponential rate, lifelong
learning has become in the way to promote personal development and enhance social incorporation.
Knowledge is not acquired only in classrooms or in any educative institution, but in reality,
knowledge is obtained by engaging and interacting with a society that grows along the world.
Therefore, it is important to understand of the need for, and the ability to engage in lifelong learning
. This process happens on a daily basis and is the responsibility of each person to engage in a
continuous learning process.

Many European countries want 15% of all adults that are in ages between 25 and 64 to participate
in at least one learning activity (Ellen p.3). For developing countries, lifelong learning activities
promote literacy skills and better opportunities in employment promoting economic growth among
the population.
After the first decade of the 21st century, Lifelong learning has become in the primary tool to face
common global challenges such as poverty, economic breakdowns, and climate change (10.1007,
p.xlix). The importance of embracing lifelong education allows people to understand this issues
with better self knowledge and how to respond to them with confidence. An example of lifelong
learning implementation is Hungary. In the 1990s, the Hungarian government proposed a national
modernization plan, in which substantial resources were used to improve regional equality in rural
areas, promote self sustaining development in communities, and facilitate labor market flexibility.
This was accomplished by adopting lifelong learning as a way of re training communities in rural
areas (9199 p.52) . Access to this education was found in vocational education systems and in
enterprises willing to invest in work based training providing better skills to their employees; some
of these companies contributed about 1.5% of their total payroll (9199 p.58).

Art is the creative field of study where people use their talents and imaginations to produce visual
work of someone or something. Artists usually indicate emotions and special techniques to create
harmony and balance within their artwork. Indeed, art has been evolving since the beginning of

Firstly, the Mona Lisa (1503 1506) portrays Lisa di Antonio Maria
Gherardini.1 Furthermore, Mona is the short form of Madonna which means Lady . The
painting is very unusual since the woman in it is not wearing any jewellery which was
signifying wealth at that time. She seems to be a special woman who emphasizes a serene
assurance to engage the viewers. Also, her blank facial expression is known as enigmatic .1 The
emotions on her face are not very well represented as her character and thoughts appear to be
hidden instead of being exposed. There is a lack of kindness in her eyes. Leonardo da Vincishifted
her eyes to the right side so that they look straight at the viewers. This creates a mental density.

Why Danone developed Danimal yogurt for the South African market
South Africa had a big income inequality gap with its market being at the bottom of the pyramid
with more than half of the population in the 4 5 tier range having less than $1500 in purchasing
power parity in US dollars. Danone wanted to capture the market by introducing a low priced
product to the low income people. With research by local Universities and the SA Medical

cultures in yoghurt were beneficial for children and also that a product needed to be produced ...

Is Danone successful in addressing the needs of the bottom of the pyramid? What can they do
better?
Pretorious had the 4P s in mind when product was developed. The price was initially set at R1.00
in 2005. This was beneficial since the transaction would require one coin interaction which made it
simple and valuable for the targeted children s market. To avoid additional margins added onto the
final price, the price was printed on the lid. Danone themselves just broke even with no profits.
To address nutritional shortcomings in the typical diet of a child from a poor family especially
vitamin A, iron and zinc the company wanted to enrich the yoghurt with these nutrients. The
yoghurt also needed an extended long shelf life due to lack of electricity and fridges.
Danone promoted their product, by associating the name Danimal . Danimal was combination of
Danone and animal , which gave a sense of pride in Africa. A colorful energetic leopard as the logo
appealed to children, while the nutritional facts appealed to the adults.
They created a product for the bottom of the pyramid that was initially introduced into the Gauteng
province but later expanded into two other provinces, Kwazulu Natal and the Free State.
I think that Danone did a great job by providing the needs of the bottom of the pyramid. They spent
little money and used existing equipment with no marketing. They made a product that was

Understanding The Director Of National Intelligence
Understanding the Director of National Intelligence (DNI) priorities are necessary to recommend
any initiatives that will have the most value to the intelligence community (IC). The DNI fully
identifies to the IC what his mission, vision, and goals are. The DNI uses the National
Intelligence Strategy (NIS) to explain the objectives and the priorities for the IC. There are a few
areas, which if made a priority would have a beneficial impact on the IC. These recommendations
would not require a lot of resources. They include adapting one overall IC vision, enhancing
current agency to agency communication, and furthering foreign relations within the IC. One of
the first priorities to establish which would add a large benefit to the IC would be to have one
vision with a joint strategy on how to achieve the vision. The intelligence enterprise needs to not
only indicate they have an overall vision but they also need to adapt the vision into their
organizations. With 17 different IC components that each offers a unique service, there needs to be
integration as has been the theme but also the visions and actual employment of the visions and
goals need to be aligned as well. The DNI lists his mission, vision, and goals as: Mission Lead

Frida Kahlo Self-Portrait With Monkey Essay
Self Portrait with Monkey: By Frida Kahlo
Self Portrait with Monkey made in the year of 1938 by Frida kahlo a Mexican artist who was
influence by the traumatized events that occur during her early life. Which were physical and
psychological tragic. Frida khalo used her personal tragic to create art and which her saying was
that she paint herself because it was what she knew best. Kahlos work was influence by tragic
event in which in her portrait Self Portrait with Monkey, it was made to show a living and soulful
being holding her by having his arm around her neck of a form of protection and who she
describe the pet to be a like a the child she couldn t have. The portrait is in the Art Gallery,

Her posing is of someone who seems lonely, incomplete and unsatisfied. The portrait is the
appearance more of a tomboy. We can see the background of the painting showing the a form of a
jungle with different hairy leaves and cactus. The painting has different textures, lines, and colors.
We can see a light green mixture with yellow and with some blue, green, and light gray, also the
cantus is painted in light gray with a white and slightly brown as it seems from viewing the
painting. The natural objects used by Frida Kahlo in most of her portrait, are the natural element as
we can see in the Self Portrait with a Monkey. She is wearing a collar and it seems to be made of
bamboo material. In the portrait with seeing a Monkey is facing forward and how the monkey
has his arm around her with so much care and protection. The monkey reflects an innocent child
holding on his mother, reflecting the viewers that he is love and that he feels security by her as
his main protection. Her painting is more of a personal portrait. The colors of use are vibrant
colors, but even though her colors used were not as dark, her self portrait seems more with a sad
appearance. I think in her life, there has been always an empty hole. Possibly reason were the
inability to bear children and her unstable relationship with Diego Rivera. To Frida Kahlo, he
was considered to be her soul mate, friend and her tutor in painting. Her emptiness was the need
be a woman in every sense of the word. Which is married, have children, and be hundred percent
in love and to be love with your partner. I just think this is how she used to feel. Her paintings
were most self portraits, which it shows that she was sad and unhappy. The painting her facial
expression is of someone that is lonely and depressed. To Frida Kahlo, her only time of distraction
from the pain and the loneliness was painting. Her only distraction and

Stalingrad was a battle during World War II started on June 22 1941 that eventually led to a
significant loss to the Axis forces. The battle started as retaliation from Adolf Hitler after his
defeat in the Battle of Barbarossa. The Battle of Stalingrad was a battle of pride, morale and not
based off of any tactical or strategic advantage. The battle raged on in four main operations that
lasted only 199 days. This loss in Stalingrad dealt a significant blow to the Axis Powersthat would
lead to the overall defeat of Adolph Hitler and his military during World War II. Operation
Barbarossa; initiated by the Axis powers and they quickly advanced deep into Russia. The Axis
Powers believed they could defeat the Soviet Unionas soon as the winter had passed but they began
receiving heavy attacks during the winter with as much as 65% of the infantry being attacked.
The Axis Powers had time to re equip and rest their forces prior to the end of the winter. Moscow
was the end state for the operation and the Axis Powers used a Blitzkrieg style of warfare to
attack the least obvious Point of Entry. Adolph Hitler expected the Soviet Union to surrender as
soon as the end state became successfully captured. Hitler understood that taking Moscow would
be very costly to his Armies. Hitler developed a plan to cut the Soviet Union of their fuel by taking
the Caucasus Oil Fields. Operation Blau had the goal of capturing the Caucasus oil fields then

Goodman Brown Archetypes
Olivia Kim
AP Literature
Short Fiction Essay
In Nathaniel Hawthorne s 1835 allegorical, short fiction Young Goodman Brown, innocent, young
Puritan of Salem Village, young Goodman Brown willingly leaves his wife and religion Faith and
enters the dark forest, where he experiences a radical encounter that alters his ways of life.
Throughout this short story Young Goodman Brown, Hawthorne reveals man s inherent nature to
stray and sin, due to man s corruption of morality. Human fallibility, even that of the religious,
good, pure man, is inevitable in the world, where sin and darkness reign through the devil s
destructive temptations and accusations. Nathaniel Hawthorne incorporates countless archetypes,
allegories, characterizations, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Along with character and color archetypes, Hawthorne also includes situational archetypes to
convey the loss of innocence and the fall of man in Young Goodman Brown. The journey sparked
by curiosity led to the encounter with the devil, which resulted in the fall of man and the battle
between good and evil. Therefore, although young Goodman Brown entered the forest with only
one intention of meeting someone and returning back to Faith, the devil does not easily let go of
him. When Goodman Brown halts and tries to turn back towards Faith, the second traveller
convinces him to continue and they continued to walk onward... This scene depicts the constant
battle between good and evil, where the devil throws temptations and leads man astray from the
good, pure, straight walk with the Lord.
As Goodman Brown is taken deeper into the forest by the second traveller, they encounter a circle
of devil worshippers, from what it seems. Hawthorne uses imagery, epithets, and dialogue to
express the consuming darkness. As Goodman Brown draws nearer toward the crowd, he sees and
hears. Welcome, my children, says the dark figure, to the communion of your race. Ye have found
thus young your nature and your destiny. My children, look behind you! Hawthorne includes
chilling dialogue of the devil and describes the crowd of figures to be recognizable by Goodman
Brown. They turned; and flashing forth, as

Stono Rebellion Research Paper
Early Sunday Morning, on September 9th, 1739, a band of slaves marched, carrying banners that
declared Liberty! . This revolt, named the Stono Rebellion, was the largest uprising in the colonies
with over 50 people killed. Although the reason for this slave revolt is not 100 percent clear, there
are multiple theories. To address the validity of these theories, it is important to get a deeper
understanding of the backgrounds of the key leaders and participants of this revolt, such as Jemmy.
The Stono Rebellionwas the largest uprising in the colonies. While it is unclear exactly what may
have riled up the slaves, there are many theories, such as the decrease of freedom due to the
implementation of multiple strict laws. Whatever may have caused the rebellion, on September 9th,
1739, a group of about twenty slaves gathered near the Stono River and began their trek. They began

Cyst Reflection
As a child, I always had the mindset of being invincible, like nothing on the earth could hurt me.
That mindset carried on with me throughout my life, even regarding my health. I had always
thought I was in perfect health and always would be, at least until I was in my 40 s. I ve always
had good blood pressure and all my checkups would go smoothly with zero problems. I had a
lifelong fear of breaking a bone or having to get surgery, and I was thankful to never have needed
surgery or broken a bone. But everyone s day has to come, right? One day my luck finally ran out.
During September of 2015, I was at my Gynecologist s office for my yearly checkup; a hoop to

typical things that go along with a check up: checking my reflexes, checking my blood pressure,

ready to cry right on the spot at the thought that myself, a 17 year old seemingly perfectly healthy

zipping through my head. The only way the doctors could see if the cyst was cancerous was to get
a sample which would happen during removal in surgery. My dad, unlike me, was keeping his
composure pretty well. Without surprise, he immediately had questions.

History Of Southwest Airlines By Rollin King And Herb...
History
Southwest Airlines was incorporated on March 15, 1967, in Texas as Air Southwest Co. by
Rollin King and Herb Kelleher. At the time, Southwest Airlines had a fleet of three Boeing 737
aircraft serving Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio. Southwest Airlines Founder Herb Kelleher had
faith that by operating within Texas, the airline could escape from federal regulation. According to
SWA, on February 21, 1968, Braniff, Trans Texas and Continental Airlines attained a provisional
restraining order from a District Court forbidding the Texas Aeronautics Commission (TAC) from
delivering SWA Certificate. On May 13, 1970, the Texas Supreme Court unanimously votes to
overturn the lower courts findings and rules in favor of Air Southwest (SWA, History by Date,
(1)). Conclusively, on December 07, 1970, the United States Supreme Court denies appeal by
Braniff and Texas International (TI) of Texas Supreme Court decision (1).
Eventually, Air Southwest Co. changed its name to Southwest Airlines. On that same day, SWA was
offered three 737 200s by Boeing. During 1971, southwest airlines began scheduled flights from
Dallas to Houston and San Antonio with a $20 one way fares. In Addition, on July 09, 1972,
southwest introduced Executive Class Service fares with a fare increase and complimentary
cocktails. On the other hand, on October 01, 1974, SWA introduced a new uniform for their Flight

The Artists Tina Barney and Elliott Erwitt
Beyond the Medium
Thorough research of the works and techniques of Tina Barney and Elliott Erwitt led me to a
simple conclusion: their art is simple and meaningful but, meaning is what an observer makes of it.
What does this indicate one might ask? It means that although they both have very distinct ways of
taking a photograph their common goal is to evoke emotion in their observers. Elliott Erwitt put it
in the simplest terms when he said, I think you should just look at the stuff and if it enriches you in
some way or knocks you out, that s all you need (Danziger 89). The most effective source of
information that guided my research was documented interviews with Tina Barney and Elliott
Erwitt. The artists truly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I think color is OK for movies, which I do, and it s OK for working for people, but it s not OK
for my personal works. It gives you information, but I don t like it. It s cumbersome. With black
and white you have contacts, the negatives are put away, you can make prints and work on them
yourself. Color you can t, you have to send it to somebody. There is also no way as of now that
any color print will last in its original state for more than five years. Black and white can be as
permanent as anything. It s simpler, it s more abstract when it s good (Danziger 84).
I think Erwitt s decision to shoot this photograph in black and white only adds to its meaning. It
gives the shot a comfortable feeling. If this particular photograph were shot in color, people would
be more concerned with the details surrounding the people. They of course add to the meaning,
but when a person looks at the facial expressions on the father and son he or she can tell that s
what the photograph was all about the relationship between the two of them. Color would only
distract from Erwitt s purpose. After observing both of these artists works, I recalled very specific
memories and feelings that I forgot existed in my mind. My initial interpretations were very
specific, but I wanted to know if I

The Loss Of Helen Keller In Everyday Life
There are many privileges in daily life that people take for granted at most times. When an
average person wakes up in the morning to the sound of birds chirping and the sight of sunlight
shining through his or her bedroom window, he or she may not think of how others in the world
do not have these seemingly insignificant gifts. Helen Keller was one of many people who had the
gift of seeing and hearingtaken away at a young age. She never had many experiences or
opportunities that the majority of the population does, due to the handicap she was burdened with
at just 19 months old. For many, losing the ability to see and hear can be detrimental if he or she

There are few basic life functions or daily activities that are affected by a loss of hearing. One of
the few is communication. A deaf person would not likely be able to communicate through simply
speaking, or if he or she did, she may not be easily understood because she cannot hear the sounds
she is making. Someone with severe hearing loss, or has lost their hearing altogether, would not be
able to enjoy music in the same way as someone that hears well. Someone who is hard of hearing
can learn sign language in order to communicate with any other person that understands sign
language. They could also hire an interpreter, who is able to relay spoken information to the deaf
person in sign language, as well as verbally saying to hearing people what the person is
communicating through sign language. A deaf person would not be able to listen to music

New Jersey was established and inhabited for its rich and fertile soil. Moreover, New York had

Nude on Black Screen is composed out of oil on screen canvas. This is a beautiful image of a
woman, dancing, embracing herself and her womanhood. This image is a very good example of
modern day version of women s liberation. Constructed in very intense white, which is extremely
eye catching against the black of the projection screen. The lines are a somewhat thick line,
running in a horizontal direction, running parallel to the line above and appear to have a curve
or wave to them, as they flow to form a cylinder like, 3 D visual of the woman s body. The viewer
will notice that the image is fairly accurate in showing the curves of the woman herself; it shows
roundness in the breast, abdomen, hips and rear. It also shows off other womanly features like
hair, hands and soft facial features. Even though the viewer is unable to see the expression on
the woman s face, it is easy to feel and interpret the feeling behind this image. As the lines form
this 3 D visual, they also form the texture of the image. The lines allow the viewer to feel as if
they are able to reach out and touch a tangible image. The woman s body is placed off to the
right side of the projection screen, but a portion of her lower left leg, and her long, flowing arm
is extended to help balance out the image. With the concepts that Stanley Helms used, makes this

Summary Of Bruce Sterling s Swarm
Strong Science Fiction literature consists of more than one literary element. These elements are
great for debate since they can go unnoticed by readers. The short story, I chose to do my element
analysis on was Swarm , written by Bruce Sterling. The elements Sterling uses are subjectivity as
perspective and as affect, the play of imagination, and under specifying the idea of ambiguity and
implication. My analysis on Swarm will show you the impact of these elements on a story and
reading comprehension.
Subjectivity as perspective(cognitive) and as affect(emotional) in Swarm is told in third person
narration and gives you the view from someone outside the story. This is evident since the story
consists of the pronouns; he , she , ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The play of imagination is an element used to engage the reader. It allows the reader to envision
the story and strengthen their understanding of what ideally every story wants you to see. An
effective writer is one that communicates and portrays the story vividly to the reader, the way
they planned to. The play of imagination is first strategically introduced in the second line,
Captain Doctor Simon Afriel folded his jewelled hands over his gold embroidered waistcoat. (Page
472, Swarm, The Oxford Book of Science Fiction Stories). This line allows for the reader(s) to
visualize however they would like with imagination. It allows us to envision a man with
jewelled hands and the gold embroidered waistcoat attire a doctor and a captain might be
wearing. His attire could suggest that he is wealthy and dressed up for a profession or special
event. His hand gesture and attire could suggest, he is uncomfortable and closed off to the
outside and a bit of an introvert. His choice of attire, also suggests he does not follow fashion in
the era or fictional world he lives in. It also suggests to us that he might not live in our current
world. This passage from the story may be short but it represents to show how far our imaginations
can be stretched and the strength of using description for imagination to create a firm reading

The Disappointment By Aphra Behn
Throughout The Disappointment , Aphra Behn critics the established gender roles in the
society particularly sexually. This can be seen in the relationship between Lisander who is the
male figure and Cloris who is the female one. In this poem, Cloris can be seen as the object of
desire while Lisander can be seen as the sexual object which challenges the pre established roles
in society. The first stanza reveals a side of Lisander that shows that he does not have a complete
control on his body. Indeed, the fact that the author says One day the Amorous Lisander/By an
impatient Passion sway d (1 2). The use of the word sway d shows that the passion drives him and
controls him while it should be the opposite. This situation questions the male identity because
Lisander, as a cavalier and a man, should be strong and show no weaknesses. Furthermore, the
end of this stanza reveals that Lisander does need Cloris to live in this world which shows that
she, unconsciously, has power over Lisander because he needs her. Behn writes that [Lisander]
was now descending to the Sea/And left no Light to guide the World/But what from Cloris
brighter Eyes was hurl d (8 10). There is an imagery there which the opposition between the fact
that Lisander has no light and Cloris has bright eyes. It shows that in their relationship, the woman

Essay on 3-D Displays in the Marking Process
The use of 3D display in the marketing process plays a big role in sales and brand awareness. To
make brand awareness, a company needs a way to draw attention to their product and set itself
apart from the rest. That brand want the consumer s eyes to fall on its product only. One way to
showcase their product is to use 3D display which will give them a marketingadvantage over their
rivals.
Why 3D display? 2D display is amazing at giving preview of the product before a customer before

Thus boosting sales without the hassle of advertising because people will talk about what s new.
The placement of products is the key in order to be noticed. If the product is place strategically,
marketing for the product is going to be really effective. To do this, consider the layout of the
space. Space gives way for the people to see the product up close without distractions. Customers
are sometimes in a rush and when they go inside the store, they will have to find the product
quickly. For those customers, they need plenty of space to get to the product and quickly figure
out if it is the product they need without any interferences from other products. Placing items that
are popular on the shelf at an eye level is also important because that would be the first thing that
customer sees. For example, in case of a forgotten Valentine s day and the customer needs to buy
a last minute gift, he or she will drop into the store to get one. If the first thing the customer sees
on his or her radar is a 3D display of organized chocolate boxes or bears that says Happy Valentine
Day or Be Mine then it would be more likely that the consumer will head to that location first.
With no time to browse, the items on the eye level will be the one to go first. Pressed for time, the
consumer would most likely pick the item up. Depending on the outcome later on, the

Attorney General V. Delaware Case Study
First and foremost, is the issue of jurisdiction regarding the recent cyber scam targeting Delaware
citizens. As evidenced in previous cases, the Attorney General would be within his jurisdiction to
prosecute the defendant within the state of Delaware. Assuming due process was upheld, and no
Fourth or Fifth Amendment rights were violated in the acquisition of evidence, the Attorney
General should have no obstacles in pursuing both criminal and civil actions against the defendant.
Finally, the Attorney General should be able to select a venue within the state of Delaware, if no
conflict arises between the defense and prosecution. Regarding jurisdiction, the primary issue in this
case is that of personal jurisdiction. Personal jurisdiction refers to the court s authority to call the
defendant into the judicial process, rather than a geographic location or item (Craig, 2013).
Fortunately, there has already been a precedent set by the United States Supreme Court that applies
in this particular case. In International Shoe Company v. Washington, 326 U.S. U.S. 310 (1945), the
Supreme Court established a system of minimum contacts as the primary jurisdictional test for
establishing personal jurisdiction (Craig, 2013). This ruling simply establishes that a state can

easily won the election due to aforementioned reasons. John showed that fire in his belly that his

General
As young children, we all learn by doing. Toddlers learn to walk on their own with their parents
standing by as guides, providing a safe environment that makes it possible for the child to learn.
When a child enters the formal education system, unfortunately this rich environment of learning
by doing often disappears. The education system is still stuck in the industrial age with classrooms
more often designed for teaching rather than for learning purposes.
To return to the learning by doing stage, enter simulations. A simulation is an instructional strategy

A well designed simulation meets all of John Keller s goals in the ARCS model (attention,
relevance, confidence and satisfaction). It presents a problem to be solved, allows the learner to
make choices, shows the consequences of those choices, and builds confidence in the learner when
the problem is mastered.
There are five major characteristics of simulations:
Simulations are problem based units of learning that are set in motion by a particular task, issue,
policy, crisis, or problem. The problems to be addressed by the participant may be either implicit or
explicit, depending on the nature of the simulation. The issues inherent in the simulation are not
textbook problems or questions in which answers are cut and dried and determined quickly.
Participants carry out functions associated with their roles and the settings in which they find
themselves. The outcomes of the simulation are not determined by chance or luck. Instead,
participants experience consequences that follow from their own actions. Participants experience
reality of function to the extent that they fulfill their roles conscientiously and in a professional
manner, executing all the rights, privileges and responsibilities associated with the role.

Analysis Of White Log
Adapting
Throughout life, people change a great deal. In many novels, the characters change, they usually
have no idea that they are changing. The characters usually change in different ways. Multiple
characters might change by being ruthless and blackhearted, and then at the end, they are a happy
and cheery character. White Fang and Buck have changed an amazing amount. For example Buck
changed from being a happy, lovable character, to answering the call of the wild. White Fang, went
from being a ruthless, wild beast to a lovable, domesticated character. People could build up
confidence and change without the world ending. White Fang is an amazing novel written by Jack
London. The main character, White Fang, is a ferocious, ruthless wolf. At first, he is not allowed
to go towards the wall of light and when he does, he finds the answers to every one of his curious
wishes. He starts out as a curious little pup, then proceeds to be a curious pup until he meets his
first human. When he gets taken back to camp, Kiche comes to his rescue, but they get taken in
instead. He started hunting with his mother at a young age, and therefore he learned things quicker.
He progressed with his mental age of course, throughout the novel, and had to become an adult dog
at a young age to protect his mother and himself. His attitude toward children from the Indian camp
to the time he became a part of Weedon Scott s family, he went through many changes. At Weedon

An analysis on how Ishiguro alludes to underlying circumstances at Hailsham in Never Let Me
Go For a significant part of the novel Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro, the real function of
Hailsham remains a mystery. However, Ishiguro does leave clues into solving this mystery. He
does this by providing both an immediate and gradual realization that something is not quite right.
This realization is conveyed through the use of choice words and unusual environments. Ishiguro
provides few details, and the ones he does provide lack any real meaning. This promotes reading
in between the lines and forming personal conclusions. But with a keen eye, it is possible analyze
specific details left by Ishiguro that help allude to Hailsham s real purpose.... Show more content on

An impeccable example of how reading in between the lines is key appears when Kathy tells us
about how one of her donors wanted to hear about Hailsham. In this section, Kathy makes the
realization that her donor did not necessarily want to just hear about Hailsham, but rather he
wanted to remember Hailsham. Kathy felt that her donor wanted to feel as if he had lived
through Hailsham, himself. This section makes the reader ask themselves why would Kathy s
donor want to remember Hailsham. By reading in between the lines of this section we can
gather that Hailsham was probably better than wherever Kathy s donor was to prior of being in
her care. Maybe Kathy s donor had a poor and unfulfilling life. Maybe he feels that because Kathy
is from Hailsham, she would have had a good life. From reading in between the lines we can gather
that Kathy s donor had an awful life and wanted to feel as if he had been a part of Hailsham. This
connection is important because it helps the reader determine that Hailsham was special without
being told that directly. Additionally, this section further complicates the mystery around Hailsham.
Ishiguro achieves this by making the reader ask questions similar to what makes Hailsham so
special anyway? . Maybe this donor was mistreated, abused, or even just outright neglected. and that
does not happen at Hailsham. Something

Essay on The Life and Legend of Gautama Buddha and...
The life and legend of Gautama Buddha is a captivating one. Born an Indian Prince in the sixth
century BCE near modern day Nepal, Siddhartha Gautama, as he was originally named, founded the
belief of Buddhism. Much like spring time, Gautama Buddha was full of prospering life and energy.
The biography Gautama Buddha: In Life and Legend by Betty Kelen provides insight into the life
of the Buddha, and with these details, readers are able to make comparisons between he and
springtime. Gautama Buddha and spring time are comparable in many aspects. During his quest for
enlightenment, Buddha, ...made himself a cushion out of grass and sat down facing the east in the

Buddha was born during springtime and legend says, from the roots to the tips of the branches
the grove was one mass of flowers, and from the midst of the shrubbery came the hum of bees
and bird songs and the cries of peacocks (Kelen 20). When Gautama was born, he was
underneath the silken canopies of a satinwood tree, and was not like ordinary babies. Instead of
crying he was, the color of creamy gold; not squalling and snarling, but emitting sweetly
modulated and charming sounds similar to the bird songs round about (Kelen 21). This short
passage gives readers the notion that Buddha was heavenly even from his first breath. Much like
how new life is made during springtime, Buddha was born and brought new life to Nepal and
eventually the rest of the world. Spring is known as a vivacious and colorful season of the year.
Siddhartha Gautama, otherwise known as the Buddha, is thought of as a bubbly and conversant
individual. Through years of deep meditation and higher level self exploration, Buddha became
the enlightened one . Gautama Buddha can be compared to spring in many ways, but most
apparent is that both possess qualities of new life and new ideas as to how to live. For example,
Buddha possessed the ability to, in a sense, travel to a place out of reach by humans and find out
who he really was and why he was placed on the Earth. Springtime on the other hand, is a time
when people clean out their homes, change their styles, and focus on themselves whether it

The Gypsy As A Dichotomy
Since the arrival of Romani people to the British Isles, the figure of the Gypsy has been
controversial by being an object of both fear and desire. The word Gypsy evokes a series of
images of people and their way of life. For some, Gypsies are synonyms of criminals and fortune
tellers, appearing as a threat for the civilization. For others, they remind a nomadic life in nature
exempt from the restrictions of the settled society.
This dichotomy has categorized the Romani people as the exotic other , possessing, at the same
time, the quality of foreigners and the idiosyncrasy of being autochthonous. As Epstein points out,
like the oriental or the colonized, racially marked subject, the Gypsy was associated with a rhetoric
of primitive desires, lawlessness, mystery (etc.) with freedoms from the repressions, both
constraining and culture building of Western civilization. (3).

An example of the type of service demands that Exodus encounters occurred when the
Webmasters of the RollingStone.com, the website of Rolling Stone magazine, had difficulty
trying to solve a slow response time problem just a day before the publication of a multimedia
cover story on Britney Spears. This would obviously cause a spike in demand that would
exacerbate the response time problem. Since Exodus was hosting and maintaining the site, its
engineers helped in solving the problem, which involved incorrect configurations data that
caused server to use 10 to 15 seconds to refresh domain name data every few minutes instead of
daily. Approximately 400 of its customers( 12% of its customer base of 3300 companies) are
application service providers (ASPs) that run application software for other firms using remote
servers linked to a WAN so that those firs no longer have to install and maintain the software.
Exodus charges for service based on usage, and this fits well with an ASP charging scheme. Its
ASP customers range from start ups to established software firms such as PeopleSoft and Oracle
s Business Online. According to Ellen Hancock, it s very hard to say what you re not doing, but
we ve spent a lot of time trying to do that. We say we re not going to know applications. We re not
in that business. We just support the ASP....... We have no notion of competing with Oracle on E

Edward Pierce Quotes
An Untroubled Man with a Troubled Mind The most differentiating factor between humans and
other creatures on earth is humanity s insatiable desires and emotions that defy all evolutionary
logic. These desires have always been seen throughout society, including the criminal class. The
Great Train Robbery s anti hero, Edward Pierce, displays these very traits as those which push
him to commit the greatest crime of his time. However, Pierce has a more unique motive.
Though it is not evident at first, The Great Train Robbery conveys Edward Pierce as a man
driven not by greed or a desire for fame, but by an extreme sense of selfishness and pride. Crichton
eliminates any thought of Greed motivating his anti hero by informing us of the money he already
has and even by referring to him as a putter up, (9) that must have an ulterior motive other than...

Moreover, he has little regard for the lives and feelings of others. This is first prominent after the
death of Clean Willy, which Peirce seems to have no remorse for. He also refers to those he
manipulated with with insults such as syphilitic fool, and elderly nincompoop. (353). He further
provokes the court by bragging how he met with Barlow just six days before the trial and did not
mention it simply because [He] was not asked. (353) The most apparent moment showing his
pride is when he learns of difficult complications for his plan. Despite the extra risk, Pierce s
pride forces him to insist the robbery will [still] be done (258) the next day, despite the risk.
These behaviors reveal Pierce to be an undoubtedly prideful man. This self worth is the primary
motivation for Edward Pierce s crime. Edward Pierce is a peculiar and puzzling man. And though
he does not have conventional reasoning for his acts. His self esteem and pride drove him to pull
off one of the greatest heists the world has ever

Taking a Look at Embraer
1.Perform a brief SWOT analysis of Embraer.
A SWOT analysis is a structured planning method used in order to evaluate the strengths,

Strength (S)
The Embraer was created in1969 by a military government. It hold several strengths in manners
that it strategically placed as well as being advantageous in having smaller and less costly jets, not
forgotten their structure of production that plays a role in being competitively advantageous. It was
located in San Jose dos Campos in Sao Paulo or simply known as Technology Valley , consisting of

that gave Embraer distinctive competency areas to run their R D, design, product development,
system integration, and assembly as well as technical assistance in aircraft manufacturing.

Summary Of Chapter 11 Sacco And Vanzetti
Chapter 11, Saco and Vanzetti, in After the Fact begins with a story of an armed robbery in a
bank and an armed robbery and murder to a man on the side of the road in Massachusetts during
the time of the nativist mood in America. The Braintree and Bridgewater crimes, in 1919 and 1920,

Vanzetti, two Italian anarchists, where were soon arrested for the crimes. After a long trial,
suspicious evidence and six years of appeals the two were convicted and sentenced to the electric

previous one, of employers going on strike and radicals creating an uprising in the labor
industries. These strikes lead to anarchist bombings lead by Luigi Galleani who was also an
Italian immigrant like Sacco and Vanzetti. These bombs were sent to the houses of Generals,
Supreme Court Justices, members of Congress and mayors. Not during the time of Sacco s and

Gender Orientation And Sexual Orientation
Did you know that gay men and lesbians do not choose their sexual orientation, but rather are born
with it? There has been extensive research proving that sexual orientation is caused by many
biological factors, whereas there is no solid proof that social factors after birth affect sexual
orientation (Swaab, 2007, p. 442). Sexual orientationis already programmed into the brain, with the
influence of sex hormones and genes, before a child is even born. The development of sexual
orientation is caused by sex hormones, genes, and the brain, which then cause differences in the
anatomical body (LeVay, 2011, p.271). Firstly, sex hormones that mainly influence a person s
sexual orientation are the levels of testosterone during critical periods of prenatal development
(LeVay, 2011, p. 132). If androgen insensitivity syndrome occurs in individuals with XY
chromosomes, the gene coding for the androgen receptor is mutated, causing the receptor to
either barely function, or not at all (LeVay, 2011, p. 137). This causes their body to not respond to
testosterone, so they begin to develop physically as a female. From here on, they are usually raised
as girls, and they develop an attraction to males, as well a feminine typical traits.
A condition that can occur in females is called Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia, which is when
there are above normal amounts of prenatal testosterone and androgens, which causes a female to
grow up with masculinized traits (LeVay, 2011, p. 134). A majority

  • 2. Analysis on Atheism To be honest with you I think some of McCloskey questions of the existence of God are based and as a Christian I know I have questioned the existence of God at one point in my life. I had to really learn the hard way. From the article one can see that McCloskey is trying very hard to dismiss every claim of the theistic view. From the videos on blackboard, when someone decides to prove something or someone, then that means there is certainty and assurance that thing is absolutely true. The truth of the matter is that we cannot prove one hundred percent of the existence of Godand that is why an Atheist like McCloskey would say that without evidence then there is no God. McCloskey try s his best to scientifically prove that the creation of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I believe that every argument is defeasible. I think that the reason that McCloskey is saying this is because he is arguing the God of the bible and not the minimalistic ideal of God. Everyone is entitled to believe what he or she wants to believe, he saying that the cosmological argument, does not entitle us to an all powerful and all perfect God but that still does not disvalue the rational of there being a God in the first place and I believe that makes his statement meaningless in disproving the necessity and presence of God. When it comes to the teleological argument, McCloskey also claims that the teleological argument lacks premises due to similar reasons as the cosmological argument. In short both arguments do not prove God as a designer. In his mind, this argument is faulty because it does not show enough evidence for the existence of God. What he means when he argues for a genuine indisputable example of design of the universe is that he desired to see obvious proof for the existence of God. He disagrees with the fact that it is impossible to proof something with one hundred evidence. In Evans and Manis, when they talk about some noticeable evidences that prove the existence of God in Philosophy of religion, they said that the way in which nature and the universe is organized and structured there must be a ... • 3. Cause And Effect Of The Seven Years War eventually give birth to the Seven Years War that would be fought in the Midwest of North America. The Seven Years War The feud between Great Britain and France began long ago in 1740 s when they both claimed the Ohio territory. However neither country did much to substantiate their claims to the territory. The French began to build forts from Lake Erie to the forks in Ohio with the goal of stifling trade between the Native Americans, Pennsylvanians and Virginia traders. In May of 1747, the Ohio Company received 500,000 acres near the Forks of the Ohio and just two years later, William Gooch, the lieutenant governor of Virginia granted an additional 200,000 acres to the Ohio Company because of the potential French encroachment. • 4. Definition Of Funny Essay In the quote from Mark Twain, Show me a man who knows what s funny, and I ll show you a man who knows what s not , there is one word in particular that I would like to focus on. Funny. We all know what funny means, something that causes you to laugh, something that s humorous. But, what exactly falls under that definition? That s something you can t specifically decide. With so many factors going into it, including an individual s personality, the area, the time, and more, finding something that everyone believes to be funny would be hard. For me specifically, the word funny brings to mind jokes I ve heard or read in my mind. More specifically, I picture chickens crossing roads, cows interrupting conversations, and a variety of different people and items knocking on doors. However, you may associate very different ideas with the word. My father and sister both find it extremely hilarious to watch other people undergo harm, while one of my best friends finds humor in making statements that have no blatantly obvious connection with the current conversation and often don t make grammatical sense. Everyone has their own sense of humor just as everyone has their own favorite colors, whilst some may be the same, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So, how did these social groups come to exist between people that conflict in such a major area of their lives? When confronted with divergent opinions or ideas we either diminish and dismiss them or we adapt and accept them, although the latter occurs more frequently. Simply put, humans are extremely flexible in their behavior and quickly conform to what is prevalent around them. This is seen in every aspect of our lives, from clothing trends to language norms and even in popular methods of amusement. So, as seen in any social construct, when we are in different situations we adjust to fit in. This makes it possible to for us to form bonds with those around us while retaining a personal sense of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The creator of this film, Patricia Keith, attended this event. Patricia Keith teaches video production at a college level. Her production company, Buffalo Eddy Productions has created many films. They re mostly known for making in hand adventures films in places like South America, Southeast Asia, China, Canada and much more. Patricia explained how difficult it was to filmthese adventure films. Most of these films are constructed in a remote location. These remote locations are very hard to access by foot. I was surprised when I found out that people live along side of such a beautiful canyon like this. It is said that still to this day you can see signatures of past residence that lived here on rocks and cabins. Although many don t remain settled there today, they still make routine deliveries to forest service locations. It is amazing that a mail delivery system dating back to the 1920 s still continues today. The most amazing part of this film is seeing how settlers lived in such a remote place on earth. No electricity, no running water etc. Many citizens came to the United States because of the industrial revolution. This reminds me of when we talked about the citizens came over seas in hopes of a better life and getting a job. These citizens all lived in Miami and created their own community much like Hells Canyon. While I was watching this film I just could not understand on why many settlers chose to live here. Setting in the Hells Canyon is the complete opposite of the industrial revolution. We talked about in class, people often are not choosing where to live but actually forced to live where they do. I think the example of the Hells Canyon is the opposite. Many settlers have actually moved and choose to live in this wild ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Maya Case Study Essay Having read and researched Maya s case study the first question I asked myself was, what is an Adaptation within the human body? My understanding is that an adaptation within the body is the long term physiological changes in response to frequent training, allowing the body to meet new demands and help in the additional stresses that are placed on the body itself. In the case of Maya, I have studied the chronic adaptations of Maya s muscular and cardiorespiratory system as a response to her three months training and indeed her target goal to return to her preferred sport of tennis. I believe that although Maya would be training in the correct way, playing tennis again as well as the exercise regime she has designed would enable her to return to a good level of fitness, and the standard that she had previously played. Maya s exercise regime would enable her to strengthen her requirement and aspirations to play tennis again. Training exercises when lifting weights is a result of the learning... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Maya s resting heart rate would also decrease as her training progresses due to the circulatory system being more efficient. Accumulating lactic acid is much lower during higher levels of activity, due to the circulatory system providing more oxygen resulting in the removal of waste products faster. Arterial walls become more elasticated which allows greater tolerance of changes in blood pressure. This would result in respiratory muscles (Diaphragm/intercostals) increasing in strength thus giving a larger respiratory volume, which would allow more oxygen to be diffused into the blood flow (VO2 max). This effect on Maya s body would lead to an increase in the number and diameter of capillaries surrounding the alveoli leads to an increase in the efficiency of gaseous ... Tiana Brown Personal Statement Once upon a time, a little girl from southern New Jersey dreamed of working in the television industry; the idea of being a part of creating television shows and movies amazed her immensely. But when she told her family, they quickly erased that dream from her mind. The little girl s family wanted her to become a doctor, lawyer, or have any other profession most adults tell young children about. Because of this, she didn t think her dream would ever come true. The only thig she wanted to do was please her family. About thirteen years ago, that little girl was me, Tiana Brown. • 10. Conversion of Alcohol to Alkyl Halides Introduction In this experiment, Conversion of Alcohol to Alkyl Halides and alcohol is converted to an alkyl halide through SN1 or an SN2 mechanism. This is done by using 1 propanol and 2 pentantol with HBr, Hydrobromic acid. Only half of the groups will use 1 propanol, and 2 pentantol. All results are analyzed using NMR and IR. An SN1 reaction, requires two steps. The first step, using an alcohol as an reactant, is the pronation of the OH group from the R group. This produces a cation intermediate. The cation intermediate is attacked by the Br group, from HBr. This is the second step. An SN2 mechanism, is only one step, unimolecular , and spontaneous. In an alcohol, the Br group will attack at the water, H2O, is leaving the reaction. The R group attacks to the Bromine leaving an excess water. Figure 1 Mechanism for 2 Pentantol SN1 Figure 2 2 Pentantol SN2 Mechanism Nuclear Magnetic Resonance, NMR, and Infrared, IR, Spectroscopy are used to determine the structure of unknown compounds. Nuclear Magnetic Resonance allows the student to see the nuclei in a molecule by the usage of light (1). The spectrum shows how carbon can form a number of different bonds hydrogens present in the molecule, double and single. IR spectroscopy gives an idea of the frequency of the molecules through the vibrations of the molecules. Infrared shows how molecules can perform like springs which connects with Hooke s Law. Canada might have been one of the best places in the world but for me and Tim, Canada is a lot more than that. For Tim O Brien s On the Rainy River , Canada is freedom: freedom from the draft letter that pressures him to go to war, freedom from the war that he never understood and always hated, freedom from the dirt, tent, and mosquitoes, freedom from that dense greasy pig stink and blood clots in the slaughterhouse, freedom from his country, and freedom from his conscience... or is it? The same society that built the morals and beliefs and principles he has in him had then become the same society that crippled him to make the choice of leaving all those behind as he stated, And what was so sad, I realized, was that Canada had become a pitiful fantasy. Silly and hopeless. It was no longer a possibility. Right then, with the shore so close, I understood that I would not do what I should do. (55) In the stories Tim O Brien and I shared, there is this one little detail in common, we both made a choice. At first, the decision of moving to Canada felt like a selfish decision I was forced to make only for the family s sake. Actually, I even held them responsible for my misery for a couple of weeks. But as those weeks and months pass by, I came to realize that such choice was actually one of the greatest things that can happen to me, for it was more than just an opportunity for our family to be whole but a breakthrough to endless possibilities towards reaching my dreams. Why Attending School I have not attended many different schools but I know that they all have more than one thing in common, and these things need to be changed somehow, they are just not working. Whether you are attending primary school, secondary school or college there are always issues with how we are taught, what is being taught to us and how will it help us at the end of the day. I am sure there are many reasons why we are taught the way we are and why we need to learn these things. The list is endless. My entire schoollife I have come to discover patterns from different students including myself. Attending school and learning is not boring or tiring. The schedule, the process and the reasoning behind going to school is unfitting. First they tell us what time we have to be in class without even considering the time of year and what season it is. It does not sound like much to worry about. But I have realized that students tend to wake up late during the winter, they take longer getting out of the bed and tend to eat and sleep more meaning they have less time to focus on homework no attending classes. The early, cold and dark mornings during winter make it hard for students to leave their beds. The issue is not waking up, the issue is getting out of the bed. Even though a student might know that they will get into trouble for missing a lesson, they would rather deal with the teacher than go and face the cold especially at 7h45 in the morning. What I am trying to say is, in the winter we ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Some pieces, making a person wonder just how in the world the artist even thought it up, others taking the viewer away to another time. One thing is true, art makes you think, art is made up of all sorts of mediums, and art is everywhere! At the Ashby Hodge Gallery of American Art, located on the Central Methodist University campus, I was able to view artwork that was ironically intertwined with each other. This is a beautiful image of a woman, dancing, embracing herself and her womanhood. This image is a very good example of modern day version of women s liberation. Constructed in very intense white, which is extremely eye catching against the black of the projection screen. The lines are a somewhat thick line, running in a horizontal direction, running parallel to the line above and appear to have a curve or wave to them, as they flow to form a cylinder like, 3 D visual of the woman s body. The viewer will notice that the image is fairly accurate in showing the curves of the woman herself; it shows roundness in the breast, abdomen, hips and rear. It also shows off other womanly features like hair, hands and soft facial features. Even though the viewer is unable to see the expression on the woman s face, it is easy to feel and interpret the feeling behind this image. As the lines form this 3 D visual, they also form the texture of the image. The lines allow the viewer to feel as if they are able to reach out and touch a tangible image. The woman s body is placed off to the right side of the projection screen, but a portion of her lower left leg, and her long, flowing arm is extended to help balance out the image. With the concepts that Stanley Helms used, makes this piece full of traditional art ideas. • 34. Summary Of Bruce Sterling s Swarm Strong Science Fiction literature consists of more than one literary element. These elements are great for debate since they can go unnoticed by readers. The short story, I chose to do my element analysis on was Swarm , written by Bruce Sterling. The elements Sterling uses are subjectivity as perspective and as affect, the play of imagination, and under specifying the idea of ambiguity and implication. My analysis on Swarm will show you the impact of these elements on a story and reading comprehension. Subjectivity as perspective(cognitive) and as affect(emotional) in Swarm is told in third person narration and gives you the view from someone outside the story. It allows the reader to envision the story and strengthen their understanding of what ideally every story wants you to see. An effective writer is one that communicates and portrays the story vividly to the reader, the way they planned to. The play of imagination is first strategically introduced in the second line, Captain Doctor Simon Afriel folded his jewelled hands over his gold embroidered waistcoat. (Page 472, Swarm, The Oxford Book of Science Fiction Stories). This line allows for the reader(s) to visualize however they would like with imagination. It allows us to envision a man with jewelled hands and the gold embroidered waistcoat attire a doctor and a captain might be wearing. His attire could suggest that he is wealthy and dressed up for a profession or special event. His hand gesture and attire could suggest, he is uncomfortable and closed off to the outside and a bit of an introvert. His choice of attire, also suggests he does not follow fashion in the era or fictional world he lives in. It also suggests to us that he might not live in our current world. • 36. The Disappointment By Aphra Behn Throughout The Disappointment , Aphra Behn critics the established gender roles in the society particularly sexually. This can be seen in the relationship between Lisander who is the male figure and Cloris who is the female one. In this poem, Cloris can be seen as the object of desire while Lisander can be seen as the sexual object which challenges the pre established roles in society. The first stanza reveals a side of Lisander that shows that he does not have a complete control on his body. Indeed, the fact that the author says One day the Amorous Lisander/By an impatient Passion sway d (1 2). The use of the word sway d shows that the passion drives him and controls him while it should be the opposite. This situation questions the male identity because Lisander, as a cavalier and a man, should be strong and show no weaknesses. Furthermore, the end of this stanza reveals that Lisander does need Cloris to live in this world which shows that she, unconsciously, has power over Lisander because he needs her. Behn writes that [Lisander] was now descending to the Sea/And left no Light to guide the World/But what from Cloris brighter Eyes was hurl d (8 10). There is an imagery there which the opposition between the fact that Lisander has no light and Cloris has bright eyes. One way to showcase their product is to use 3D display which will give them a marketingadvantage over their rivals. For those customers, they need plenty of space to get to the product and quickly figure out if it is the product they need without any interferences from other products. For example, in case of a forgotten Valentine s day and the customer needs to buy a last minute gift, he or she will drop into the store to get one. If the first thing the customer sees on his or her radar is a 3D display of organized chocolate boxes or bears that says Happy Valentine Day or Be Mine then it would be more likely that the consumer will head to that location first. • 38. Attorney General V. Delaware Case Study First and foremost, is the issue of jurisdiction regarding the recent cyber scam targeting Delaware citizens. As evidenced in previous cases, the Attorney General would be within his jurisdiction to prosecute the defendant within the state of Delaware. Assuming due process was upheld, and no Fourth or Fifth Amendment rights were violated in the acquisition of evidence, the Attorney General should have no obstacles in pursuing both criminal and civil actions against the defendant. Finally, the Attorney General should be able to select a venue within the state of Delaware, if no conflict arises between the defense and prosecution. Regarding jurisdiction, the primary issue in this case is that of personal jurisdiction. Personal jurisdiction refers to the court s authority to call the defendant into the judicial process, rather than a geographic location or item (Craig, 2013). Fortunately, there has already been a precedent set by the United States Supreme Court that applies in this particular case. In International Shoe Company v. Washington, 326 U.S. U.S. 310 (1945), the Supreme Court established a system of minimum contacts as the primary jurisdictional test for establishing personal jurisdiction (Craig, 2013). Instead of crying he was, the color of creamy gold; not squalling and snarling, but emitting sweetly modulated and charming sounds similar to the bird songs round about (Kelen 21). (353) The most apparent moment showing his pride is when he learns of difficult complications for his plan. Despite the extra risk, Pierce s pride forces him to insist the robbery will [still] be done (258) the next day, despite the risk. These behaviors reveal Pierce to be an undoubtedly prideful man. This self worth is the primary motivation for Edward Pierce s crime. Edward Pierce is a peculiar and puzzling man. And though he does not have conventional reasoning for his acts. • 55. Gender Orientation And Sexual Orientation Did you know that gay men and lesbians do not choose their sexual orientation, but rather are born with it? There has been extensive research proving that sexual orientation is caused by many biological factors, whereas there is no solid proof that social factors after birth affect sexual orientation (Swaab, 2007, p. 442). Sexual orientationis already programmed into the brain, with the influence of sex hormones and genes, before a child is even born. The development of sexual orientation is caused by sex hormones, genes, and the brain, which then cause differences in the anatomical body (LeVay, 2011, p.271). If androgen insensitivity syndrome occurs in individuals with XY chromosomes, the gene coding for the androgen receptor is mutated, causing the receptor to either barely function, or not at all (LeVay, 2011, p. 137). This causes their body to not respond to testosterone, so they begin to develop physically as a female. From here on, they are usually raised as girls, and they develop an attraction to males, as well a feminine typical traits. A condition that can occur in females is called Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia, which is when there are above normal amounts of prenatal testosterone and androgens, which causes a female to grow up with masculinized traits (LeVay, 2011, p. 134).
