Work in small groups of 4 and lay out on the floor all six A4 paper templates
1. Start by standing near styles 1, 2 and 3. Read the words in the circles and discuss any matches you
recognise or observations you’ve made that might describe you as individuals, your work
colleagues and your workplace culture (past or present). Notice that some of the qualities of each
of the first three styles could be dysfunctional if overplayed.
2. Now move to styles 4, 5 and 6, repeating the first step. These styles represent higher levels of
consciousness and a growth mindset. Notice what you notice
3. Now return to the middle (between styles 3 and 4). Help each other to agree on which style best
represents each of you: where your were, where you are now, and where your aspire to grow to
next.

ISSUE FEELING THINKING ACTION First round Think of an upcoming or, past event that may be difficult or challenging that you wish to plan for or learn from. What would be, or was your default reaction to dealing with this challenge? (eg stressed, panic, stretched etc) Now follow the instructions in the circle: Second round Now use your imagination to visualise a more resourceful choice to deal with your issue more proactively or, in the future. Now go around the circle and notice what’s different and what changes Lastly, visualise this as a future success. See yourself doing this successfully Step 3 - Prime yourself for successful outcomes

Simple exercise… Remember a time when you felt really confident about yourself, when you were at your very best… Bring back that memory now… and drop it from your head to your body… Repeat this a couple of times and you will find that you access it more powerfully.. This feel good state of mind can be revivified at any time to be used as a positive resource that trigger a number neurotransmitters helping you to feel good about yourself more of the time Step 5 – visualise your success

  • 25. Expanding consciousness - exercise Research by Andrew Jenkins – Developing High Performance Teams Work in small groups of 4 and lay out on the floor all six A4 paper templates 1. Start by standing near styles 1, 2 and 3. Read the words in the circles and discuss any matches you recognise or observations you’ve made that might describe you as individuals, your work colleagues and your workplace culture (past or present). Notice that some of the qualities of each of the first three styles could be dysfunctional if overplayed. 2. Now move to styles 4, 5 and 6, repeating the first step. These styles represent higher levels of consciousness and a growth mindset. Notice what you notice 3. Now return to the middle (between styles 3 and 4). Help each other to agree on which style best represents each of you: where your were, where you are now, and where your aspire to grow to next.
