https://github.com/SalesforceFoundation/NPSP-Advisory-Board
What do we want to accomplish?
Background and Purpose
Benefits, Responsibilities and
Board Structure
• Participation in private Power of Us Hub community to provide open, honest feedback directly to
core contributors
• Note that summaries of all major Board decisions will be made public to the community
• Opportunity to directly influence and impact the Nonprofit Starter Pack roadmap
• Invitation to speaking opportunities on behalf of the Nonprofit Starter Pack project
What do Nonprofit Starter Pack Advisory Board Members get?
Benefits
• Establish and maintain Nonprofit Starter Pack guideline documents
• Clearly articulate what should and should not be included in Nonprofit Starter Pack
• You do not need to know Apex or any advanced technical concepts
• Prioritize community-contributed feature requests
• Vote on community-contributed abstracts
• Confirm that contributions are well-documented and are incorporated seamlessly into existing
knowledgebase
• Represent the Nonprofit Starter Pack project to the community and escalate community feedback
and concerns
• Evangelize Nonprofit Starter Pack contribution in external developer communities
What is expected of Nonprofit Starter Pack Advisory Board Members?
Responsibilities
• The key here is that organization seats are for those whose primary job is to work with a single
organization, and not in a consultant capacity
• The organization must be using Nonprofit Starter Pack 3 in their production instance
• Only one Nonprofit Starter Pack Advisory Board Member per nonprofit organization per year
• Members are nominated and elected as individuals to represent the interests of the community,
not on behalf of their organizations
• Terms are for one year
• Nominations are solicited new each year
• Members may serve no more than 2 consecutive years
3 Members per year from nonprofit organizations
Organization Seats
• Members can be either from ISV or SI Partner organizations
• Should have significant experience with implementing and integrating with Nonprofit Starter Pack 3
• While Members are not required to participate in the Salesforce Partner Program or Foundation
Partner program, it’s always about Trust. Partner Members must have a Power of Us Hub profile
connected to their consulting/partner organization, not a client organization.
• Send a private message to Dave Averill in the Power of Us Hub if you would like more information about the
Foundation Partner Program
• Only one Nonprofit Starter Pack Advisory Board Member per partner organization, per year
• This is not a marketing, sales or lead generation opportunity
• Members are nominated and elected as individuals to represent the interests of the community,
not on behalf of their organizations or an app package
• Terms are for one year
• Nominations are solicited new each year
• Members may serve no more than 2 consecutive years
3 Members per year from partner organizations
Partner Seats
• Project Lead
• Facilitator
• Appointed by Project Lead
• Member to represent broader Open Source community
• Foundation Non-Technical Representative
• Top Code Contributors
• May or may not be Salesforce Foundation employees
Not elected by nomination
Other Seats

• July 15, 2015 – Nominations posted to Power of Us Hub and voting begins

Terms run until end of July 2016. Nominations open again in June 2016.
Inaugural Board
Timeline
• Complete form at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1flclZ3Fy-Y4i-
RxJMHj43zF8C_bpJhayIkiWDQ2X3YY/viewform
• People should nominate themselves! While nominating others is flattering, we’re most interested in
nominees who understand and accept the responsibilities of serving on the Board
• Once confirmed eligible to serve, a post will be started in the NPSP Group in the Hub – one for
nonprofit organizations, one for partners
• Nomination essays will be attached to each post as comments
• Post will be a poll with a choice for each name
• While liking a comment or the post is fine, any extra comments will be discouraged and deleted
• The top 3 vote-getters per organization type and per unique organization will be invited to join the
Board
• Nomination submissions will be accepted until end of day July 13th and voting begins on July 15th
• Voting closes on July 31, 2015 - Board Terms begin August 2015
Nominations!
