Dance is never static.
Even if it has specific sub genres with set guidelines and expected characteristics
like other forms of visual and performing arts, dancers have the will to choose not
follow them as often and as strictly if they please. They re allowed the freedom of
expression as well as the freedom to even create new forms of dance.
In fact, this freedom to create is why modern dance came to be. It decided to stem off
of classical ballet then completely break off from its roots and become its own sub
genre over the course of decades. Modern has many similarities to ballet, such as
how turns are conducted or how arm strength is utilized, but they are considered to be
enemies by dancers.
I would like to explain more about how these two opponents (modern and ballet) are
rather more like sisters, as well as how modern dance has evolved in the past century
and how this change threatens traditional modern form. I will go into the origins of
modern dance and what cultural phenomenons it is derived from. Furthermore, I
would like to debunk its stereotypes and clarify just what modern dance is.

Servant Leadership the Board of Directors
Introduction
What is the proper relationship between a servant leader within an organization and
the board of directors that provides organizational oversight and direction for the
organization? What does the literature reflect about this particular dynamic, and how
do power and politics of an organization function vis Г vis servant leadership? These
issues will be discussed in this paper.
Servant Leader and the Board of Directors
The purpose of human life is to serve and to show compassion and the will to help
others (Albert Schweitzer) (Keith, 2010).
Dr. Kent M. Keith was a presenter on behalf of the Greenleaf Seminar on Servant
Leadership at the 53rd annual conference for the Arizona School Boards Association
in December, 2010. He correctly pointed out that servant leadership is about serving
others, about becoming distinguished through the altruistic desire to serve, and about
the ...universal recognition of the importance of serving others (Keith, 2010).
Servant leadership is not about acquiring or wielding power but rather it is about
leading which can help an organization become a powerful servant to others in the
sense of its mission and goals. The board members in any organization are
accountable, Keith explained in his presentation. He quoted Robert Greenleaf:
Trustees [board members] are accountable to all parties of interest for the best
possible performance of the institution in the service of the needs

Gang problems and violent crime could increase. Residents and businesses move out
while low income people who remain behind would have to go further to get daily
goods and access some services ( Introduction iii).
Abandoned properties are very different. They come in all sizes and shapes. They are
diverse range of location. They may locate in urban, suburban and rural areas. Some
properties require to remove environmental contamination. In response, many
organizations such as the President s Council for Sustainable Development (PCSD),
the National Association of Counties, Public Technology, Inc., Concern, Inc., and the
United Nations (U.N.) provide variety of technical methods and helpful guidelines to
redevelop and improve sustainable features to these brownfields (Geis and Kutzmark).
Established in the 1880s, Saigon Railway Station was a railway station in District 3
neighborhood of HoChiMinh City, Vietnam (Unwin). The station was the last station
on the North South railway. Since many new stations, tunnels, and bridges were built,
the train yard was finally abandoned. Inside the station, some rusted railway engines
line on tracks; on the ground, broken windows kicked out; inside the train wagons,
seats and other stuffs are stained with mold; on the walls, they are covered with
graffiti. Obviously, in order to remove environmental contamination and contribute to

the desire for freedom. My view of these issues is that of a feminist reader living in
a democratic modern day society, where men and women live in a state of equality

This develops the idea that her future with this man as a married woman provided a
stable lifestyle where she would not have to live by the rigid patterns of society,
reinforcing a modern day feminist reader s view of the expectations and restrictions
placed on unmarried women during the Victorian era.
There is a distinct contrast between appearance and reality, which works to
reinforce the idea of confining individualistic behaviours to retain the pattern of
society. In stanza two, she says that tripping by in high heeled, ribboned shoes
/ (there is) not a softness anywhere about (her) (lines 16 and 17) when she s
wearing only whalebone and brocade (line 18.) The term whalebone refers to a
whalebone corset, which is a very hard material that is restrictive to movement. By
describing her actions as tripping, a modern day feminist reader is reinforced that
she is not coping in her current lifestyle where she is limited to living in a strict
manner. In the next stanza, she says that underneath (her) stiffened gown/ Is the
softness of a woman (lines 32 and 33.) This develops the idea that the way she
dresses is a deceiving appearance, because she is not as stiff and stable on the
inside as she comes across on the outside. Deep down she is soft and sad, in
mourning of the loss of her lover, yet she cannot express these emotions due to the
expectations and restrictions of women during the Victorian era.
