What is a  noun?
Nouns are words for 1. People
2. Animals
3. Places
and…… things
These words are nouns. table  doctor dog  Stockholm  Africa  school  crocodile  Nelson Mandela Look  round the room.  What other nouns can  you  see?
You can count most nouns One (singular)  Two or more (plural) a banana  three bananas a tree  five trees an orange  oranges a girl  girls a house  houses
Put the nouns in the correct list cats  a comic  five boys  two elephants an egg  a tiger  chairs  a book One  Two or more
Use a singular verb with one The car  is  expensive. A bicycle  has  got two wheels. The shark  swims  quickly.
Use a plural verb with two or more Oranges  are  nice. Sweets  taste  good. Elephants  have  big ears.
Put ’is’ or ’are’ in the correct place. My friend _______ kind. Dogs _________ friendly animals. Sweden _________ in Europe. The dog _________ very cuddly. The flowers __________ pretty.
WATCH OUT! There are some nouns you  can’t count water  meat  rice honey  milk  tea bread  cheese  juice Can you think of any more?
Always use a singular verb with nouns you can’t count! Honey  is  sweet. Apple juice  tastes  nice. Water  is  good for you.
When a noun is the name of a  person place day or month…….. Always use a  capital letter! Monday, London, Ireland, Mr. Tucek, Luke
