Nouns are words that refer to people, places, animals, and things. Nouns can be singular or plural, and the verb must agree with the noun. Some nouns like water, milk, and bread cannot be counted and always take a singular verb. Proper nouns like days, months, and place names always have a capital letter.

12. Put ’is’ or ’are’ in the correct place. My friend _______ kind. Dogs _________ friendly animals. Sweden _________ in Europe. The dog _________ very cuddly. The flowers __________ pretty.

13. WATCH OUT! There are some nouns you can’t count water meat rice honey milk tea bread cheese juice Can you think of any more?

14. Always use a singular verb with nouns you can’t count! Honey is sweet. Apple juice tastes nice. Water is good for you.
