By: Kay Yamashita Analyze Learners General Characteristics:  - Grade: 8th grade - Ages: 13-15yrs. old - Ethnicities consist of:    Chamorro, Filipino, and   Caucasian  421957562865- 11 males, 14 females - Mental, Physical, Emotional or Social Notes:  1 student has ADHD Students range from visual, kinesthetic, and verbal learners   - All from middle class socioeconomic backgrounds Specific Entry Competencies: The students have already received instruction and experience in: - Windows Moviemaker - Using a video/digital camera/webcam  - Basic Literary terms/vocabulary - Presenting projects orally  Learning Styles: - Lecturing - Auditory  -Visual -Grouping State Objectives ,[object Object]
Students will use a video camera to film their story.
Using a computer, students will transfer their data on to Windows Moviemaker for editing.
After watching group movie presentations students will be able to identify the antagonist, protagonist, conflict, symbols, theme, & tone of the movie.

Multimedia Lesson Plan

  • 1.
  • 2. Students will use a video camera to film their story.
  • 3. Using a computer, students will transfer their data on to Windows Moviemaker for editing.

  • 5. After watching group movie presentations students will be able to identify the antagonist, protagonist, conflict, symbols, theme, & tone of the movie.

  • 16. The teacher will approve the students’ scripts and story line before allowing them to use Windows Moviemaker.

  • 21. The Teacher will review on how to use Windows Moviemaker as a refresher course.
  • 22. Teacher will divide the students into 5 groups with 5 students in each group
  • 23. Allow students to pick a literary work they have read (such as The Rocking Horse Winner, The Lottery, The Quilt, etc.)
  • 24. Students will assign each other roles
  • 25. Director, characters, etc. (students may have more than one role)
  • 26. Students collaboratively write a script for the story they will be portraying
  • 27. Collect their rough drafts and review them. If students do not finish before the period ends, assign it as homework. Review their work the next day.
  • 28. Allow the groups to correct their mistakes before filming. Only allow groups whose rough drafts have been reviewed to start filming.
  • 29. Students will be allowed to film in the classroom during break or lunch (after reserving it with the teacher)
  • 30. Students may also meet outside of school to film their story
  • 31. As students are working in class they will be able to make props for their video.

  • 33. Students will present their movies to the class using a TV and DVD player or computer and projector

Students will discuss the characters using the literary vocabulary learnedEvaluate and Revise Assessment of learner achievement Objective 1: Students will write a script which will include the parts of a story: characters, setting, plot & theme. Evaluation 1: The students were able to write their scripts collaboratively in groups. Note: Objective 2: Students will use a video camera to film their story. Evaluation 2: Students were able to film their story in the time period allotted. Note: Objective 3: Using a computer, students will transfer their data on to Windows Moviemaker for editing. Evaluation 3: Students collaboratively edited their videos competently with little supervision. Note: Objective 4: After watching group movie presentations students will be able to identify the antagonist, protagonist, conflict, symbols, theme, & tone of the movie. Evaluation 4: Students were aware of what to look for while watching each group’s movie presentation. Note: Objective 5: Using a rubric prepared by the teacher students will critique each group movie presentation after watching it.Evaluation 5: Note: Evaluation of media Students were excited to do a video project to show their creativity and to work on Windows Moviemaker. Notes: Evaluation of methods Lecturing to explain the activity and showing the students the examples are appropriate for the activity. Students understood what was expected of them. Students applied creativity skills into the activity and were able to more than adequately answer the comprehension questions asked. Because they were with their peers, they were also able to socialize and contribute ideas with each other. The instructor should continually supervise students and ask questions for understanding seeing that this is a two week project.
