IBM presented its Notes and Domino roadmap, which includes continued support for current platforms through 2021, quarterly feature packs for incremental improvements, and the general availability of Verse On-Premises in December 2016. The roadmap aims to accelerate feature delivery through a continuous update model and provide customers choice in collaboration solutions.

5. What is a Feature Pack?
 Our objective is to accelerate the delivery of more features and fixes into the N/D
platform and are changing our approach to gather these components into
quarterly feature packs, using an approach similar to the continuous delivery
model of Windows 10.

Instead of releasing an entirely new and different version of its desktop OS
every few years, Microsoft is taking an Apple-like approach to subsequent
Windows releases, standardizing on Windows 10
 Notes/Domino 9.0.1 will be the baseline release and future updates will be
delivered as feature packs on top of 9.0.1. This provides a mechanism for
continuous delivery of improvements and helps with easier deployments for our
customers
 There are ”core” technical elements required to support the longevity of Domino
applications and these are of the highest priority in these next Feature Packs
 Goal is to deliver these via ”feature packs,” with a target time frame of quarterly
releases
