Karakoram is a large mountain range spanning the
borders between Pakistan, India and China, located
in the regions of Gilgit–
Baltistan (Pakistan), Ladakh (India),
and Xinjiang region, (China).
II. The Karakoram is home to the highest
concentration of peaks over 8000m in height to be
found anywhere on earth, including K2, the second
highest peak in the world 8,611 m.
III. The range is about 500 km (311 mi) in length, and is
the most heavily glaciated part of the world
outside the polar regions. The Siachen Glacier at 70
kilometers in the Karakoram ranges.
8. 1. The Zanskar Range is a mountain range in the Indian
state of Jammu and Kashmir that separates Zanskar
from Ladakh.
2. Geologically, the Zanskar Range is part of the Tethys
Himalaya, an approximately 100-km-wide synclinorium
formed by strongly folded and imbricated, weakly
metamorphosed sedimentary series.
3. The average height of the Zanskar Range is about 6,000
m (19,700 ft). Its eastern part is known as Rupshu.
4. It also separates Kinnaur District from Spiti in Himachal
Pradesh. The highest peaks of Himachal are in Zanskar
range.
