A 68-year-old man presented with shortness of breath and a non-resolving cough. His chest X-ray was normal and fiberoptic bronchoscopy showed normal findings. Further diagnostic tools may be needed to investigate the cause of his non-resolving cough, as normal bronchoscopy does not rule out diseases of the lung parenchyma that could be causing his symptoms.

 Non-resolving cough in an adult patient
should be thoroughly investigated.
Fiberoptic bronchoscopy provides
visualization of the bronchial tree and is
indispensable for diagnosis of diseases of
the bronchial tree and the adjacent lung
parenchyma.
 In this case with non-resolving cough and
normal bronchoscopy, there is a need to
use further diagnostic tools such as imaging
after a proper clinical assessment. 5
