2. The Case
 A 9-years old boy referred from an ENTist
because of a non -resolved cough and
wheeze of 45-days duration. There was no
definite history of foreign body (FB)
inhalation. Physical examination revealed
bilateral wheezy chest. CXR was normal.
Rigid bronchoscopy under general anesthesia
(GA) revealed a severe mucosal congestion of
the middle lobe bronchus with a shell of
sunflower seed.

3. The Case…
 The FB was removed by forceps
and the bronchus was irrigated
by normal saline. The child did
well after bronchoscopy and
was discharged home the next
day in a good health.

7. Comment
Despite a negative history
of FB inhalation and a
normal CXR, unresolved
cough in a child should raise
the suspicion of aspiration
of a FB and thus
bronchoscopy should be
performed for diagnostic
and therapeutic purpose. 7
