This is the presentation delivered by Amanda Cronin, of Washington Water Trust, on the Nisqually Water Banking Feasibility Study at the January 15 2010 Nisqually River Council Meeting.
There has been much public discussion and speculation lately about the feasibility of the Catahoula Aquifer as a primary water source for Montgomery County. The SJRA’s position on this issue is outlined in the documents below.
Kimberly Thorner, General Manager at Olivenhain MWD, presented to the League of California Cities, San Diego County Division on October 13, 2014, about the Water Reuse Coalition.
the necessity of large flow calibration systems for water main systems for th...AquaSPE AG
The attached presentation discusses the necessity of large flow calibration systems for water main systems for the determination of leakage losses, and the quantities of processed water that can be saved through the combination of distribution-side minimization of leakage losses and consumer-side conservation -- and why it makes little sense to put costly recycled and/or desalinated water into water mains that continue to leak.
The Global Futures and Strategic Foresight (GFSF) team met in Rome from May 25-28, 2015 to review progress towards current work plans, discuss model improvements and technical parameters, and consider possible contributions by the GFSF program to the CRP Phase II planning process. All 15 CGIAR Centers were represented at the meeting.
The type of handpump technology suitable for a particular area depends on the groundwater level, water quality and hydrogeological conditions. There are some areas like the costal belt in the southern part of Bangladesh, where the conventional shallow and deep tubewlls technologies are not successful due to the high salinity. Alternative water supply options are needed for those areas.
The Alliance for a Healthy South Sound has been developing strategies to recover south sound. Elizabeth McManus (Ross Strategic) presented the draft strategies at the September NRC meeting.
David Troutt introduced the Nisqually Stream Stewards class of 2016 to the Nisqually River Council and its 30-year history of partnerships in the Nisqually Watershed.

The Alberta Government is considering amendments to water allocation and water licence transfer systems in the province. This review is being driven by issues of overallocation of water in some areas of the province and the economic and environmental issues that overallocation has caused.
Jason Unger, Staff Counsel with the Environmental Law Centre, presented a summary review of the three reports that are informing the government’s review, as well as issues that arise from a “First in Time, First in Right” (FITFIR) system, such as whether the licence transfer system is equitable and whether transfers and FITFIR adequately address environmental and economic concerns.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

We have a development plan in place to phase in or move water from place to place
Banks move water to where it is needed the most, in the Walla Walla the largest volume demand for water is for instream flows, mitigation for growth of new supplies is also in demand. Examples of waterbanks across the west, there are examples in most western states but many of the banks are relatively immature. The States with the most active banking programs are CA, AZ and ID. Yakima Basin waterbanking focuses on drought year leasing and benefit to instream flows. First bank in the state.
