2. The New World: 1492 He sailed with 3 ships. Two, the Nina and the Pinta were caravels, which are small ships with triangular sails. The Santa Maria was a large square ship. Together the voyage carried about 90 men. Columbus kept a diary in which he describes all his adventures. I was able to see a couple pages of his diary are in a museum in Sevilla, Spain. In 1492 Spain agreed to send Cristopher Columbus, a Genoese sailor attempting to reach Cipangu. Columbus was not able to reach cipangu, but instead discovered what it’s known today as: America. Columbus was able to explore America and import and export many products we use today. He did not die as a rich man, he did in 1506 believing he had found a new route to the east indies.

In an attempt to unify Europe royal families married each other and During this time period Charles became the most powerful person in Europe He was able to rule large territories and Spain gained great pleasure from wealth and success.
