Fog computing scheduling algorithm for smart city IJECEIAES
With the advent of the number of smart devices across the globe, increasing the number of users using the Internet. The main aim of the fog computing (FC) paradigm is to connect huge number of smart objects (billions of objects) that can make a bright future for smart cities. Due to the large deployments of smart devices, devices are expected to generate huge amounts of data and forward the data through the Internet. FC also refers to an edge computing framework that mitigates the issue by applying the process of knowledge discovery using a data analysis approach to the edges. Thus, the FC approaches can work together with the internet of things (IoT) world, which can build a sustainable infrastructure for smart cities. In this paper, we propose a scheduling algorithm namely the weighted round-robin (WRR) scheduling algorithm to execute the task from one fog node (FN) to another fog node to the cloud. Firstly, a fog simulator is used with the emergent concept of FC to design IoT infrastructure for smart cities. Then, spanning-tree routing (STP) protocol is used for data collection and routing. Further, 5G networks are proposed to establish fast transmission and communication between users. Finally, the performance of our proposed system is evaluated in terms of response time, latency, and amount of data used.
This presentation looks at the Trends for Smart Buildings including social networks and mobility. It also provides a comparison of the markets in Europe and North America.
Libelium IoT to promote democracy and transparencyJ On The Beach
The aim of the Internet of Things is to provide valuable information about everything around us. Citizens demand open access to know directly what happens in their cities without any intermediary. But nowadays we are impacted by countless news our sources and is very difficult to digest it.
Over-information is the new way of hiding information. If we demand context and facts instead of dumb numbers, the biggest legacy of the internet of things will be a world that is more transparent and democratic. Smart solutions also improve citizens daily lives by controlling pollution levels, providing alerts against medical epidemics or managing cities' traffic.
Libelium technology has been applied worldwide. During Fukushima crisis after the tsunami in 2011 we developed a sensor board to measure radiation. As a result, a series of boards were shipped at no charge to the Tokyo Hackerspace and other working groups in Japan to allow citizens monitoring autonomously radiation levels. With MySignals, an eHealth development platform, we want to cover one of the main challenges of the century: enhancing the universal accessibility to a healthcare system for more than 2 billion people worldwide.
Wireless technology is pervading the industrial automation world, Zigbee is the first step, and it will expand rapidly thanks to miniaturization, and battery technology progress, and emerging LPWAN networks.

Organised by TR@NSENER Consortium.
TR@NSENER - European cooperation Network on Energy Transition in Electricity
Households are happy to join together and provide power flexibility for clima...Leonardo ENERGY
Residential and small commercial electricity consumers will provide most of the flexibility needed in the power system to achieve the energy transition at lower cost. This flexibility will allow the electricity grid to take on more renewables and need less grid reinforcements. Consumers are happy to participate (>75% opt-in rate) via an aggregator and be rewarded with energy savings reducing their electricity. Because it reduces the overall costs of running the energy system, it means that all consumers benefit from lower energy prices. The business case is now proven as more and more countries worldwide ensure demand side response can participate in wholesale markets as an alternative to generation and the EU has provided support through its recent Clean Energy Package. Pierre Bivas from Voltalis will share his experience of operating flexibility from more than 100,000 households in France, and now installing another 150,000, backed by the European Investment Bank, while also developing in other countries with local partners.

Elevating Tactical DDD Patterns Through Object CalisthenicsDorra BARTAGUIZ
After immersing yourself in the blue book and its red counterpart, attending DDD-focused conferences, and applying tactical patterns, you're left with a crucial question: How do I ensure my design is effective? Tactical patterns within Domain-Driven Design (DDD) serve as guiding principles for creating clear and manageable domain models. However, achieving success with these patterns requires additional guidance. Interestingly, we've observed that a set of constraints initially designed for training purposes remarkably aligns with effective pattern implementation, offering a more ‘mechanical’ approach. Let's explore together how Object Calisthenics can elevate the design of your tactical DDD patterns, offering concrete help for those venturing into DDD for the first time!

TITLE:
3. SMART CITIES
The statistics tell a grim story. By year 2050,7 out of 10 people
on the surface of the earth will live in a city. Mega cities of
population exceeding 10 million dwellers is a new but growing
phenomenon and can be found predominantly in developing
economies.
Lagos is the third fastest growing city in the world.
5. SMART CITIES
Challenges of running most Cities are similar however
these are further accentuated by the large scale Mega
cities present. These include:
•Transportation
•Pollution
•Infrastructure
•Water supply
•Waste disposal
•Healthcare
•Security
In todays lecture we look at the challenge of Energy
Infrastructure and the emerging technologies being used to
address the energy deficit.
6. SMART CITIES
“Smart cities use information and communication
technologies (ICT) to be more intelligent and efficient in
the use of resources, resulting in cost and energy savings,
improved service delivery and quality of life, and reduced
environmental footprint–all supporting innovation and the
low-carbon economy.” Boyd Cohen
7. THE ENERGY
CHALLENGE
The most pressing energy challenge facing modern society
are the twin threats of Global warming and the imminent
depletion of fossil fuel stocks (oil, coal, gas).
8. THE ENERGY
CHALLENGE
•EU activities to reduce CO2 emission until 2020 (-20%)
•European standard EN 15232 Energy Performance of Buildings, Impact of
Building Automation and Controls
•Global Green Building Initiatives
•Public awareness to save energy and to protect our environment
•National Center for Energy Efficiency and Conservation, Nigeria
9. THE ENERGY
CHALLENGE
WHAT DOES ENERGY
EFFICIENCY MEAN ?
WHAT DOES ENERGY
EFFICIENCY MEAN ?
•using less energy to achieve the
same result.
• using the same amount of energy
to produce a better result.
11. THE ENERGY
CHALLENGE
•Renewable energy technologies
•Low energy bulbs
•Variable refrigerant flow A/C
•Smart grid
•Smart home
Mega Cities require a different approach to meeting the
Energy needs since demand will always outstrip supply.
Building bigger power plants and wider roads is
unsustainable.
GAME CHANGERS
14. THE ENERGY
CHALLENGE
VARIABLE REFRIGERANT FLOW
AIRCONDITIONING (VRF)
innovative VRF technology that enables
improved energy efficiency by allowing
occupants to choose whether to air condition or
heat only the zones in use.
15. THE ENERGY
CHALLENGE
The smart grid is a digital network that unites electrical providers, power-delivery systems and
customers, and allows two-way communication between the utility and its customers. Smart
grids have the potential to improve the efficiency of energy distribution and usage, both
through the grids’ design and through consumer participation
16. THE ENERGY
CHALLENGE
According to a ZVEI (Association of the German
Electrical Industry) study;
energy consumption for building lighting can be
reduced by up to 80 % using intelligent building
systems (KNX).
Results of this magnitude can also be achieved in
functional, as well as larger commercial buildings.
19. WHAT IS KNX?
KNX is the first globally standardized
system for the automation of residential
and non-residential buildings in accordance
with the following international standards :
•(ISO/IEC 14543-3),
•European standard (CENELEC EN 50090,
•CEN EN 13321-1 and 13321-2),
•Chinese standard (GB/Z 20965) and
•US standard (ANSI/ASHRAE 135).
20. WHAT IS KNX?
All components communicate via one common
language: in short, a system such as the
manufacturer and application domains
independent KNX Bus.
21. WHAT IS KNX?
This standard is based upon more than 20
years of experience in the market, amongst
others with predecessor systems to KNX: EIB,
EHS and BatiBUS
22. WHAT IS KNX?
KNX is therefore the world´s only open
Standard for the control of services in both
commercial and residential buildings.
23. WHAT IS KNX?
More than 170 internationally certified
manufacturers are members of the KNX
association.
More than 22,000 qualified KNX partners plan,
install and integrate KNX systems worldwide.
24. WHAT IS KNX?
Thousands of buildings, ranging from private
houses to airport complexes around the world,
are equipped with more than 10 million KNX
products.
KNX installation at Shanghai Hongqiao Airport
26. WHAT DOES KNX
DO?
KNX is the logical development for implementing traditional and new
requirements in electrical building installations. It thus replaces
conventional installation techniques.
Traditional installation
27. WHAT DOES KNX
DO?
The intelligent installation bus system efficiently performs the
conventional functions and offers an additional broad range
of expanded features, which could not be realized without a
bus system.
KNX Installation
28. WHAT DOES KNX
DO?
KNX interconnects all the components
in the electrical installation to form a
networked system and thus guarantees
the transparency and utilization of
information across the installation.
In this system, all users “communicate”
via a single bus cable. Thus it is possible
to integrate all the different functional
subsystems within the building into a
seamless solution.
30. KNX SYSTEM
