Using Genetic algorithm for Network Intrusion Detection : Genetic Algorithm IDS involves detecting the intrusion based on the log history, possible intrusions that are likely to occur. In Genetic Algorithm, each connection will be considered as a chromosome” which consists of many “genes” ( properties of the connection like : sourceIP, targetIP, port no., protocol …), One has to find the fitness value of each such chromosomes to detect intrusion.

In this research work an Intrusion Detection System (IDS) and Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) will be implemented to detect and prevent critical networks infrastructure from cyber-attacks. To strengthen network security and improve the network's active defense intrusion detection capabilities, this project will consist of intrusion detection system using honey token based encrypted pointers and intrusion prevention system which based on the mixed interactive honeypot. The Intrusion Detection System (IDS) is based on the novel approach of Honey Token based Encrypted Pointers. This honey token inside the frame will serve as a trap for the attacker. All nodes operating within the working domain of critical infrastructure network are divided into four different pools. This division is based per their computational power and level of vulnerability. These pools are provided with different levels of security measures within the network. IDS use different number of Honey Tokens (HT) per frame for every different pool e.g. Pool-A contains 4 HT/frame, Pool-B contains 3 HT/frame, Pool-C contains 2 HT/frame and Pool-D contain 1 HT/frame. Moreover, every pool uses different types of encryption schemes (AES-128,192,256). Our critical infrastructure network of 64 nodes is under the umbrella of unified security provided by this single Network Intrusion Detection System (NIDS). After the design phase of IDS, we analyze the performance of IDS in terms of True Positives (TP) and False Negatives (FN). Finally, we test these IDS through Network Penetration Testing (NPT) phase. The detection rate depends on the number of honey tokens per frame. Our proposed IDS are a scalable solution and it can be implemented for any number of nodes in critical infrastructure network. However, in case of Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) we use Virtual honeypot technology which is the best active prevention technology among all honeypot technologies. By using the original operating system and virtual technology, the honeypot lures attackers in a pre-arranged manner, analyzes and audits various attacking behavior, tracks the attack source, obtains evidence, and finds effective solutions.

Online Intrusion Alert Aggregation with Generative Data Stream ModelingIJMER
Online intrusion alert aggregation with generative data stream modeling is a approach which uses generative modeling. It also use a method called as probabilistic methods. It can be assume that instances of an attack is similar as a process may be a random process which is producing alerts. This paper aims at collecting and modeling these attacks on some similar parameters, so that attack from beginning to completion can be identified. This collected and modeled alerts is given to security
personnel to estimate conclusion and take relative action. With some data sets, we show that it is easy to
deduct number of alerts and count of missing meta alerts is also extremely low. Also we demonstrate that generation of meta alerts having delay of only few seconds even after
first alert is produced already.

Network Intrusion detection and Countermeasure Election in virtual network systems (NICE) are used to establish a
defense-in-depth intrusion detection framework. For better attack detection, NICE incorporates attack graph analytical procedures into
the intrusion detection processes. We must note that the design of NICE does not intend to improve any of the existing intrusion
detection algorithms; indeed, NICE employs a reconfigurable virtual networking approach to detect and counter the attempts to
compromise VMs, thus preventing zombie VMs. NICE includes two main phases: deploy a lightweight mirroring-based network
intrusion detection agent (NICE-A) on each cloud server to capture and analyze cloud traffic. A NICE-A periodically scans the virtual
system vulnerabilities within a cloud server to establish Scenario Attack Graph (SAGs), and then based on the severity of identified
vulnerability toward the collaborative attack goals, NICE will decide whether or not to put a VM in network inspection state. Once a
VM enters inspection state, Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) is applied, and/or virtual network reconfigurations can be deployed to the
inspecting VM to make the potential attack behaviors prominent.

SVAC Firewall Restriction with Security in Cloud over Virtual EnvironmentIJTET Journal
Abstract— Cloud computing is so named for the reason that the information being accessed is found in the "clouds", it
does not entail a user to be in a precise place. Organizations found that cloud computing allows them to diminish the cost
of information management, in view of the fact that they are not obligatory to own their own servers. They can use
capacity leased from third parties. It is more important to store and to secure the data in the cloud. It plays a vital role in
the cloud. The data that can be secured by implementing SVAC (Security Virtualization Architecture for Cloud) Firewall
in the virtual environment. An effectual firewall security has been implemented for jamming and filtering the superfluous
requests coming from the clients prior to the request move towards the virtual machine. Next step is to secure the users.
During the demand dispensation, if the abuser requests the sophisticated of information from the cloud, then based on the
compensation prepared by the cloud client, they can access the data from the cloud server. This paper shows the
architecture and the unwanted request can be restricted through SVAC firewall also how the high level of data that can be
accessed by the highly authorized user.

Elevating Tactical DDD Patterns Through Object CalisthenicsDorra BARTAGUIZ
After immersing yourself in the blue book and its red counterpart, attending DDD-focused conferences, and applying tactical patterns, you're left with a crucial question: How do I ensure my design is effective? Tactical patterns within Domain-Driven Design (DDD) serve as guiding principles for creating clear and manageable domain models. However, achieving success with these patterns requires additional guidance. Interestingly, we've observed that a set of constraints initially designed for training purposes remarkably aligns with effective pattern implementation, offering a more ‘mechanical’ approach. Let's explore together how Object Calisthenics can elevate the design of your tactical DDD patterns, offering concrete help for those venturing into DDD for the first time!

Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.

As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

Nice network intrusion detection and countermeasure
1. NICE: Network Intrusion Detection and Countermeasure
Selection in Virtual Network Systems
ABSTRACT:
Cloud security is one of most important issues that have attracted a lot of research and
development effort in past few years. Particularly, attackers can explore vulnerabilities of a
cloud system and compromise virtual machines to deploy further large-scale Distributed
Denial-of-Service (DDoS). DDoS attacks usually involve early stage actions such as multi-step
exploitation, low frequency vulnerability scanning, and compromising identified vulnerable
virtual machines as zombies, and finally DDoS attacks through the compromised zombies.
Within the cloud system, especially the Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) clouds, the detection
of zombie exploration attacks is extremely difficult. This is because cloud users may install
vulnerable applications on their virtual machines. To prevent vulnerable virtual machines from
being compromised in the cloud, we propose a multi-phase distributed vulnerability detection,
measurement, and countermeasure selection mechanism called NICE, which is built on attack
graph based analytical models and reconfigurable virtual network-based countermeasures. The
proposed framework leverages Open Flow network programming APIs to build a monitor and
control plane over distributed programmable virtual switches in order to significantly improve

2. attack detection and mitigate attack consequences. The system and security evaluations
demonstrate the efficiency and effectiveness of the proposed solution.
EXISTING SYSTEM:
Cloud users can install vulnerable software on their VMs, which essentially contributes to
loopholes in cloud security. The challenge is to establish an effective vulnerability/attack
detection and response system for accurately identifying attacks and minimizing the impact of
security breach to cloud users. In a cloud system where the infrastructure is shared by
potentially millions of users, abuse and nefarious use of the shared infrastructure benefits
attackers to exploit vulnerabilities of the cloud and use its resource to deploy attacks in more
efficient ways. Such attacks are more effective in the cloud environment since cloud users
usually share computing resources, e.g., being connected through the same switch, sharing with
the same data storage and file systems, even with potential attackers. The similar setup for VMs
in the cloud, e.g., virtualization techniques, VM OS, installed vulnerable software, networking,
etc., attracts attackers to compromise multiple VMs.
DISADVANTAGES OF EXISTING SYSTEM:
1. No detection and prevention framework in a virtual networking environment.
2. Not accuracy in the attack detection from attackers.
PROPOSED SYSTEM:
In this article, we propose NICE (Network Intrusion detection and Countermeasure selection in
virtual network systems) to establish a defense-in-depth intrusion detection framework. For
better attack detection, NICE incorporates attack graph analytical procedures into the intrusion
detection processes. We must note that the design of NICE does not intend to improve any of
the existing intrusion detection algorithms; indeed, NICE employs a reconfigurable virtual
3. networking approach to detect and counter the attempts to compromise VMs, thus preventing
zombie VMs.
ADVANTAGES OF PROPOSED SYSTEM:
The contributions of NICE are presented as follows:
We devise NICE, a new multi-phase distributed network intrusion detection and
prevention framework in a virtual networking environment that captures and inspects
suspicious cloud traffic without interrupting users’ applications and cloud services.
NICE incorporates a software switching solution to quarantine and inspect suspicious
VMs for further investigation and protection. Through programmable network
approaches, NICE can improve the attack detection probability and improve the
resiliency to VM exploitation attack without interrupting existing normal cloud services.
NICE employs a novel attack graph approach for attack detection and prevention by
correlating attack behavior and also suggests effective countermeasures.
NICE optimizes the implementation on cloud servers to minimize resource consumption.
Our study shows that NICE consumes less computational overhead compared to proxy-
based network intrusion detection solutions.
