On February 3, 2016, the Joan Ganz Cooney Center and Rutgers University presented Digital Equity: Technology and Learning in the Lives of Lower-Income Families at a forum co-hosted by New America in Washington, D.C.
The event highlighted the release of "Opportunity for All? Technology and Learning in Lower-Income Families" by Victoria Rideout and Vikki S. Katz.
Recent research on digital media use points to two important gaps in educational opportunity for low-income families with young children. First, there is an access gap. Second, there is what scholars refer to as a participation gap, in which digital resources are not well guided or supported to ensure educational progress. Despite these barriers, many low-income families are using media and new technologies in creative ways to support their children’s pathways to success and to strengthen family relationships. In this report, media and policy expert Victoria Rideout and Rutgers University scholar Vikki Katz explore the current uses of digital technologies to help promote educational opportunities for all through a national survey of nearly 1,200 low-income parents of school-age children and in-person interviews with lower-income, Hispanic families in three communities located in Arizona, California, and Colorado.

Social business is dynamically changing the face of human interaction and communications globally. ABSTRACT
There is no doubt that social media has gained wider acceptability and usability and it is also becoming probably the most important communication tools among people. Grace International Bible University is simply a particular non-Christian denomination University founded by Bishop Prof. Rudolph Q. Kwanue Sr. and some Christian believers that has benefited greatly on this tool. There is perceived effect of social media on the University. Several authors had considered the pro and con of social media on the University. However, it is necessary to view the effect from a scientific point of view. The purpose of this paper is to explore the factors that affect the use of social media and determine the percentage contribution of the factors to the success or failure of the Social Media work on the University. It is also to evolve a standard metric for planning, management and assessment of social media program in the University. Questionnaires are distributed to University members and factor analysis by principal component using Statistical Package for Social Scientist (SPSS) was carried out. The result obtained placed a high premium on the group account, enlightenment, privacy and security policy issues on social media usage in the University. It is therefore necessary for the University leadership to encourage the use of University group account, develop members’ enlightenment training programme on social media usage, and also advice on workable privacy and security issues on the social media websites. This will impact positively on the growth of the University.

Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. Some of the findings are :
• Teenagers have their preference towards the new
media which broadly including the web world i.e.
the internet, mobile world and other technologies.
40 percent of teenagers have preference towards
using social networking sites as a medium of
communication.
• Use to new media in daily lives has become a venue
for social interactions and a method of content
creation for the teenagers.
• It has been found that nearly 65 per cent of teens
accessing new media participate in one or more
among wide range of content creating activities on
the internet.

internet also affects the teenagers and persuades
them to have favorable liking for the products.
• Online gaming and web access induces verbal
aggression by 50 percent and physical aggression
by 40 percent in teenagers.

and physical interactions.

12. Conclusion and Recommendation
• Technology turned the globe into a village and in
21st century social media turned it into a
community. However, it is not true that the
negative impact of new media is more than the
positive impact on the teenagers. There are so
many good impacts of social media in Bangladesh
but at the same time there are a good number of
negative impacts are also seen. Bangladesh is
developing day by day, new media has a great
influence on this development but we have to
conscious enough to use it.
