Frank Hoffman's Presentation RE: 1603 Grant ProgramLeslie Feeney
This document provides background information on the Recovery Act Section 1603 Renewable Energy Grant-In-Lieu-Of-Tax-Credit Program. It discusses how the program was created in 2009 to promote renewable energy development when the tax equity market collapsed. The program allows developers of renewable energy projects to receive a grant from the Treasury Department for 30% of eligible project costs, instead of the federal renewable electricity production tax credit. As of November 2010, over $5 billion in grants had been awarded, with the majority going to wind energy projects. The document also discusses how Congress had previously attempted to support renewable energy through production tax credits, but their intermittent extension led to volatility in renewable energy installations.
The document provides comments from the American Council On Renewable Energy (ACORE) on the EPA's proposed Carbon Pollution Emission Guidelines. ACORE recommends improvements to better incentivize states to meet emission reduction targets through increased renewable energy deployment. Specifically, ACORE suggests modifying interim targets, setting state-specific renewable energy goals, giving states credit for early renewable energy adoption, and adopting a higher projected growth rate for renewable energy that reflects its recent acceleration.

Supply Trends- What are the Impacts on Transmission? ScottMadden, Inc.
Todd Williams, director at ScottMadden, presented, “Supply Trends – What Are The Impacts on Transmission?” at Infocast’s 15th Annual Transmission Summit. This presentation focused on important developments in generation and how they will impact transmission.
Supply uncertainty is at unprecedented levels, primarily driven by EPA regulations, decreasing natural gas prices and renewable energy portfolio requirements. The impacts of a shift in electric generation moves from coal to natural gas needs to be examined closely, such as the the unknowns associated with growing interdependency of gas and electric industries. The impact of new generation, extended outages for retrofits, and required transmission must be understood by transmission planners and operators to ensure continued grid reliability. The mismatch in planning cycles between generation and transmission makes this even more problematic.

Why Policy Matters - Renewable Energy Market Momentum at Risk - June 2015Scott Clausen
The U.S. has implemented policies that have successfully attracted hundreds of billions of dollars in private investment to the renewable energy sector. This investment has enabled rapid scaling of the industry and significant cost reductions. However, continuing uncertainty around policies like the PTC and ITC is jeopardizing future investment and growth in the renewable energy sector by making long-term planning difficult. Extending these policies would provide certainty and allow the U.S. renewable energy momentum to continue.

Saudi Arabia is slowing the pace of cuts to energy subsidies to boost its stagnating economy. Domestic gasoline and diesel prices will now reach parity with international levels gradually between 2018 and 2025, rather than by 2020 as previously planned. This change is part of Saudi Arabia's largest ever budget of 978 billion riyals for 2018, as it works to diversify its oil-dependent economy and reduce unemployment through Vision 2030 reforms. However, analysts say the key will be ensuring spending is effective in achieving economic goals, not just the amount spent.
The Hybrid Application Of Hegelian And Kantian...Dana Boo
The hybrid application of Hegelian and Kantian philosophical paradigms may help illuminate changes in Colorado's renewable energy standards. Prior to 2004, Colorado relied primarily on coal and natural gas for electricity, with about 2% from renewables. In 2004, voters passed Amendment 37 requiring utilities to generate more power from renewables over time. This has led Colorado to become a leader in renewable energy development.
Connecticut Self Storage Association PresentationRRinc
The document summarizes an energy summit for self storage owners and managers. It discusses investing in energy efficiency measures and low interest financing options. It also reviews a case study of a solar installation proposal and financial analysis for a Connecticut storage facility. The 46.08 kW solar array is estimated to generate over 50,000 kWh annually and offset 98% of the facility's electricity needs. Financial projections show the project has a 77% return on investment without renewable energy credits and a 121% return on investment including credits over the 25-year system life.
A New Era of Renewables in Latin America?Doris Capurro
The document summarizes renewable energy developments in Latin America. It discusses how government-led auctions have driven significant growth in renewables by awarding long-term contracts. Countries like Brazil, Chile, and Mexico have seen their non-hydro renewable capacity and generation increase rapidly due to these policies. The document also analyzes Argentina's renewable energy targets and the new RenovAr program, which aims to contract 1GW of new renewables capacity by 2017 through competitive auctions. However, challenges remain around whether the auctions will attract sufficient investment to meet Argentina's future targets.
The document provides updates on solutions in the utilities industry. It describes how EGAT in Thailand launched an online marketplace called "ENGY Market" to promote products from local communities around EGAT sites. It outlines how Enel X and Volvo developed integrated electric vehicle charging solutions including home charging stations and public charging options. It also discusses how Entergy Louisiana expanded utility bill relief options for customers experiencing financial difficulties due to COVID-19, including flexible payment plans tailored to individual situations.
Sowards h energy_recommended course of action for a stateHarold Sowards
Colorado has robust energy policies including renewable portfolio standards and energy efficiency targets. Currently, Colorado obtains much of its energy from diverse in-state sources like natural gas, coal, solar, and wind. It also imports some energy from neighboring states. If Colorado further develops its wind and solar resources and invests in more efficient infrastructure, it could potentially become energy self-sufficient in the future. Energy plays a major role in Colorado's economy, supporting thousands of jobs and contributing billions to state revenue through taxes.
Softer Solar Landings: Options to Avoid the Investment Tax Credit CliffGW Solar Institute
This document analyzes the potential impacts of allowing the 30% federal investment tax credit (ITC) for solar energy to expire at the end of 2016 as scheduled under current law. It finds that failure to extend the ITC could result in a 10% or greater increase in the cost of solar energy from 2016 to 2017, along with 42% fewer utility-scale solar installations and 15% fewer distributed solar installations in 2017. It considers several policy options Congress could pursue to mitigate these impacts, recommending a two-year extension of the current ITC levels followed by a gradual phase-out as solar and other technologies reach full market maturity and scale.

The document outlines President Obama's blueprint for a clean and secure energy future which includes an all-of-the-above energy strategy. It discusses how the administration is committed to increasing domestic oil and gas production while also investing in renewable energy and energy efficiency. The strategy aims to reduce oil imports, double renewable energy production, and improve energy productivity across the American economy.
This document summarizes the impact of the production tax credit (PTC) on the U.S. wind energy market. It finds that the pending expiration of the PTC at the end of 2012 is creating a short-term surge in wind project development and investment. However, wind installations are expected to drop significantly to 1-2 GW in 2013 if the PTC is not extended, compared to 2-4 GW if it is extended. The availability and duration of an extended PTC would impact both near-term wind development and long-term projections. Other factors like state renewable policies, electricity demand, and natural gas prices also influence wind markets. Congress will decide by the end of 2012 whether to allow the PTC to
Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) Sparks New Opportunities in 2023.pdfGuillermoSigala
The Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 is the most significant landmark climate legislation that provides funding, programs, and incentives to facilitate the transition to a clean energy economy in the United States. These incentives include tax credits, grants, and other financial incentives to reduce air pollution and increase energy efficiency.
This bill has triggered a shift in investment strategies on Wall Street, as investors scramble to take advantage of the new opportunities created by the legislation. With the promise of significant funding and incentives, the bill is poised to drive innovation and spur economic growth in the green technology sector. The bill is fundamentally changing the landscape of the Carbon Economy in the U.S and encouraging further developments of other countries green initiatives, such as in the EU. The financial industry is undergoing a significant shift towards green investments, spurred by the new IRA Bill. Institutional investors are trying to leverage the opportunities created by the bill to identify the clean technologies that are best placed to benefit. According to Hugh Gimber, a global market strategist for JPMorgan, the US is now spending a record 1.5% of its GDP on climate initiatives, overtaking the EU at 1%.

Understanding User Needs and Satisfying ThemAggregage
https://www.productmanagementtoday.com/frs/26903918/understanding-user-needs-and-satisfying-them
We know we want to create products which our customers find to be valuable. Whether we label it as customer-centric or product-led depends on how long we've been doing product management. There are three challenges we face when doing this. The obvious challenge is figuring out what our users need; the non-obvious challenges are in creating a shared understanding of those needs and in sensing if what we're doing is meeting those needs.
In this webinar, we won't focus on the research methods for discovering user-needs. We will focus on synthesis of the needs we discover, communication and alignment tools, and how we operationalize addressing those needs.
Industry expert Scott Sehlhorst will:
• Introduce a taxonomy for user goals with real world examples
• Present the Onion Diagram, a tool for contextualizing task-level goals
• Illustrate how customer journey maps capture activity-level and task-level goals
• Demonstrate the best approach to selection and prioritization of user-goals to address
• Highlight the crucial benchmarks, observable changes, in ensuring fulfillment of customer needs
