2. The Supreme Court Case Loving V. Virginia
On June 2, 1958 Mildred Jeter and Richard Loving went to Washington D.C. to get married and
they went back to Virginia a few days later. But because Mildred was of African American and
Native American decent, and Richard was white they were arrested for violating the state law that
prohibits interracial marriage. At the time, Virginia was one of 17 states, including Texas and
Alabama, that had laws prohibiting interracial marriage (Wolfe). The Supreme Court Case Loving
v. Virginiais an important of part of American history that has had a huge impact on racial equality
and has helped change the definition of marriage in the United Statesforever.
After their arrest, Richard was released after only one night with a $1000 bond. Mildred was
released a few days later into the care of her father. In the trial in October 1958, they pleaded not
guilty and waived a jury trial. However, they changed their pleas to guilty at the end of their
arguments. and on January 6, 1959 they were sentenced to one year in prison (Wolfe). However,
Judge Leon Bazile suspended the sentence under the condition that they do not return to the state
together for 25 years. The sentence allowed them to return individually (Wolfe). So they paid
their court fees of $36.29 each and they lived to Washington D.C. to live with Mildred s cousin
and his wife, but they still wanted to move back to Virginia so they could be with their families
(Martin). In 1963 Mildred wrote a letter to Robert F. Kennedy, a U.S.

3. The Outliers Gladwell Analysis
The Outliers, by Malcolm Gladwell, attempts to disprove the widely accepted myth that successful
people attain their success entirely through hard work and dedication. Gladwell insists that outliers,
or extraordinary achievers, are beneficiaries of opportunity, and owe their feats largely to chance.
Gladwell aims to convince that ...the values of the world we inhabit and the people we surround
ourselves with have a profound effect on who we are (Gladwell 11), through various case studies, in
which the subjects achievements can be attributed to their environments and circumstances.
In the novel, Gladwell brings up the neurologist backed theory of the ten thousand hour rule. This
rule plainly states that it takes ten thousand hours of practice ... Show more content on

On the adverse side of Gladwell s thesis is the notion that people who are intellectually gifted
must go on to accomplish great things. When applied to psychologist Lewis Terman s lifelong
Termites experiment, however, this is apparently not the case. Terman searched out the young
pinnacle of the intellectual scale in hopes that they would evolve into the forefront of mankind
solely because of their cleverness. In reality, these people were relatively ordinary; some thrived,
some had decent paying jobs, while others (even to normal people) were considered failures. In
accordance with the threshold effect , in a study of admitted Harvard students, it was discovered
that the university rejected 93 out of every 100 valedictorians and perfect scorers on the SAT. Once
past a certain level of potential, success can be likened to winning the lottery. Terman concluded
with, we have seen... that intellect and achievement are far from perfectly correlated, (Gladwell 90).

4. Dental Implant Informative Speech
What You Should Know About Getting A Dental Implant For Your Teen
If your teen loses a front tooth participating in sports or playing around, he or she will want to
replace it as soon as possible since teens are usually self conscious about their appearance. The best
way to replace a missing tooth is with a dental implant. However, your teen may have to wait for
this procedure until growth of the skull and jaw stops. Here are a few things to know about teens
and dental implants.
Why Dental Implants Are Best
A dental implant is a good choice for your teen because it helps prevent bone loss. Losing a tooth
at any age is a bad situation, but it is especially unfortunate for a teen with a long life ahead. An
implant stimulates the bone so no loss occurs that could affect the smile or facial appearance.
Plus, an implant lasts a lifetime. While the crown portion may chip or crack, the implant is deep
in the bone so it is strong and protected. Having an implant is about as good as having a natural
tooth, since your teen will be able to chew normally, and the tooth surface looks like normal enamel.
When Teens Are Ready For Implants... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It s necessary for the jaw to stop growing first. The age this happens varies from child to child. It
is usually in the late teens, but your dentist will make the determination through x rays and other
tests. It s necessary to wait because implants won t grow along with your child s jaw like a
normal tooth does. A real tooth connects to the bone with a ligament. Because of this, real teeth
shift in place and change their alignment as the jaw grows. This is also why teeth can be adjusted
with braces. An implant actually fuses with the bone, so it stays firmly in place. If an implant is
put in too early, the tooth may jut out by the time your child is an adult. That would affect his or
her appearance in a negative way, and may require expensive dental work to

5. The Keystone Xl Pipeline Is A Proposed 1179 Mile Pipeline...
2. The Keystone XL pipeline is a proposed 1,179 mile pipeline that would travel from the oil
sands of Alberta, Canada, southeast to Steele City, Nebraska, where it would connect with a
preexisting pipe. The pipeline would transport 830,000 barrels of oil daily, which is around 50%
more oil per day than is currently transported from Canada. Supporters say that it will create
thousands of jobs and reduce the United Statesdependence on foreign oil. Environmentalists who
oppose the Keystone XL state that increasing our supply of oil will only make it even more
difficult to the slow the current trend of climate change, as well as the fact that the proposed
pipeline runs through many ecologically sensitive areas, such as the Sandhills of Nebraska.
3.Article 1: This article tells about President Obama vetoing Keystone Jobs Bill on grounds that
approval of the construction of the controversial Keystone XL pipeline would damage the U.S.
effort to curb greenhouse gases. The article frames Obama as an environmental hero, quoting the
president in saying, America is now a global leader when it comes to taking serious action to fight
climate change... And frankly, approving this project would have undercut that global leadership.
And that s the biggest risk we face not acting. The authors also cite Secretary of State John Kerry
in saying The United States cannot ask other nations to make tough choices to address climate
change if we are unwilling to make them ourselves. The

6. The Feeling Of Love In Barbara Fredrickson s Love 2. 0
In the excerpt from Love 2.0 by Barbara Fredrickson, the feeling of love is explained to be more
biological in nature. Love is often seen as an intense emotion that connects two or more people
through trust and communication. It can click into place after a lengthy conversation or just a
shared glance. While this may seem dramatic, Fredrickson offers her own biological perspective to
explain these phenomena in a more grounded sense. These biological reasonings aide her in
proving that loveis not unconditional or exclusive, but rather shared with all that give off a
positive resonance. It is also made possible through the synchronized flow of the two people s
brains, the release of the hormone, oxytocin, and the healthy control of the vagal. The
combination of these parts enables a person to experience this feeling of love and receive it from
others as well. It is important to understand these scientific reasonings because they show how
people can obtain this deep love with multiple people by just listening to their bodies. The different
biological processes enable people to love better by creating a deeper connection in conversation, a
strong sense of trust, and providing the skills people need to acquire the love their bodies crave.
When someone meets a romantic interest for the first time, there is an instant positive connection
between them that makes them feel in sync. It may be love at first sight, or it may due to the brain
synchrony (110) between them. Through brain synchrony your respective brain waves mirror one
another, [and] each of you moment by moment changes the other s mind (110). Through
conversation, the brains of the two people involved begin to react and flow in a way that one brain
almost predicts the pattern the other will take. This synchronization creates that instant connection
between these two people making them feel love for the other. People crave to be understood and
be able to express their feelings to others without any sort of rejection. By giving them a platform to
talk about and in turn sharing their own thoughts it creates this mental connection between them.
While sharing emotions can run a deeper conversation, by simply paying close attention to what the

7. Analysis Of The Novel The Glass Castle By Jeannette Walls
Many people do not know what it is like growing up in poverty or having real hardships. In the
novel The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls, Walls never knew how she would get her next meal.
Whether it was actually bought by her parents or fished out of the trash, she always adapted , lived
on and survived. Walls communicated through her book, the message strength is gained from
overcoming the obstacles life puts in front of you using descriptions, symbolism, character s actions
and personification, To begin, through the description and symbolization of the Joshua tree, Walls
depicts her message. Walls description of the tree was that it was, scraggly and freakish,
permanently stuck in its twisted, tortured position (35). Through this quote the reader has an
understanding of how because of the natural elements, such as wind and rain, the tree becomes a
deformed more flawed version of itself. Her mother, however, believes that, It s the Joshua tree s
struggle that gives it its beauty (38). This description combined with Walls makes the Joshua tree
a symbol for Walls herself. She is a mentally and physically scarred human being. The tree is
stronger than the wind and instead of being uprooted, it adapts to what the earth sends to. Similarly,
Walls adapts to what life send to her, opposed to giving up. Her adversities created her
imperfections, which makes her strong. Through the description and symbolization of the Joshua
tree Walls starts to render her message. In

9. The Significance Of Miniature Painting
Miniature Painting, with its ancient origin, bears focal significance in the history of regional art.
The discipline of Miniature Painting germinates from the early rock paintings or petroglyphs
(images produced by removing rock surface), found in locations like Bhimbetka and Daraki
Chattan rock shelters in Madyha Pradesh, India, nearly 30,000 years old. Later the Buddhist
writings indicated the use of paintings by military elites and the noble class, however, the
paintings of the Ajanta Caves (200 BC to 500 AD), Maharashtra, are considered most noteworthy.
This period may have had manuscripts and smaller paintings, however, the earliest surviving
examples were found during the middle ages (500 AD to 1500 AD). There was a blend of Persian
miniatureand the ancient Indian traditions that emerged as Mughal painting, which after the 17th
century was adopted by most royal courts of the region, evolving newer local styles. Though...

10. Reflections on Literature by Tim O Brien and Henry David...
Reflections Part 1 Vietnam is the subject of Journal #1, but more importantly the effect of
Vietnam on individuals. Tim O Brien, in his book, describes a number of personal events that he
experienced as a result of his experiences in Vietnam. One of the most interesting assertions he
makes is when he claims that because he went to war, he was a coward. (O Brien) He makes this
claim because he was really opposed to the war but did not have the courage to stand up an
announce his opposition. Instead he simply obeyed orders and sent to war. But he forgets that
there is a difference between the courage to stand up for one s convictions and the courage to
face actual death. His claim of being a coward is a personal judgment based on his personal
emotions, while his acceptance of actual danger and the risk of death proved that he was not. I
believe that his guilt over not opposing the war publicly, not evading the draft, was the source of
his feelings of cowardice. However, the horrors faced in Vietnam were the true test of courage,
and he passed that test. The next interesting aspect of the journal entry was the interaction between
Cross and Martha. Martha was a typical anti war type who opposed the war on a purely
intellectual basis, but Cross was a person who experienced the war and was changed by it. Martha
remains an immature child who thinks about things and believes that this is the reality. On the
other hand, Cross has experience, and the wisdom that comes

As we have learned so far there were two groups of people that came to the new world in search
of religious freedom. First were the pilgrims who arrived in small numbers upon the mayflower in
1620. The second group was the puritans. Who were the puritans? The puritans were similar to their
cousins the pilgrims, but also had many differences between them as well.
For instance only 102 pilgrims came to the new world, while thousands of puritans came to the
new world. By 1776 almost seventy five percent of the population of America was of puritan
society. The puritans were well educated and over one hundred of the puritans went to oxford for

scriptural study and prayers, and gradually he trained himself into a full fledged Puritan, convinced
that God had elected him to salvation or, in Puritan terms, to sainthood. When, in 1629, the
Massachusetts Bay Company obtained a royal charter to plant a colony in New England, Winthrop
joined the company, pledging to sell his English estate and take his family to Massachusetts if the
company government and charter were also transferred to America. For the remaining 19 years of
his life, Winthrop lived in the New England wilderness, a father figure among the colonists. In the

15. Analysis Of The Film Ai Weiwei Never Sorry
The film Ai Weiwei: Never Sorry (2012) is a documentary directed by Alison Klayman. It follows
contemporary Chinese artist and activist, Ai Weiwei, documenting how he stood up against the
Chinese government and revealed the horrific actions the government commits. Ai Weiwei differs
from other critics of the Chinese government because he uses aggressive words, while his fellow
critics do not insult the government or the Communist Party. He uses several mediums to show
how the government has acted including his blog and documentaries, showing what Chinese
citizens go through on a daily basis.. Weiwei is incredibly brave for putting his life on the line to
fight for a better country and a better world.

16. Analysis Of Pretty Woman And The Proposal
Filmmakers have been making romantic comedies since the beginning of the art. The genre
includes light hearted scenes with two beautiful main characters showing their idyllic struggle and
journey to finding their love. The genre, most like most movies are not realistic, but it proves
great for escapism from your stressful everyday life. Romantic comedies, also poorly nicknamed
as the chick flick , have almost sturdy societal gender roles representing the two main characters.
One cis male and one cis female are typically shown. Pretty Woman and The Proposalboth show
typical conventions seen in romantic comedies, although The Proposal does a much better job
appealing to a modern feminist audience. The movie appeals to the modern woman by not
conforming to the stereotypical gender roles, not glorifying materialism, and focusing more the two
lead characters and their realistic flaws.
The man typically shows dominance and has a higher working status than the woman. This is
clearly shown in Garry Marshall s Pretty Woman. Julia Roberts is depicted as a low class
prostitute who falls in love with a wealthy businessman, Richard Gere. Many romcoms made in
the 90s through 2000s depicted this basic misogyny, but in the mid 2000s a romcom was released
that went against the standards of most movies in that genre. The Proposal directed by Anne
Fletcher shows a powerful working woman depicted by Sandra Bullock, who forcibly gave her

Duddy can be considered an underdog that is trying to achieve something that may just be handed

give reasoning and justifiability to some of his actions. Duddy shows his concept of fairness
when talking to Calder, as Calder explains why he thinks Duddy s brother should be expelled.
Duddy says to Calder, Maybe he did. But he s a poor boy and he never met up with ladies and

19. The Responsibility Of Feeding The Family Members
during this period are as follows. 1. The responsibility of feeding the family members, especially
babies, and men weighs heavy and it is the responsibility of the women to arrange for a hearth
and collect food materials for the purpose. Many a time this exposes women to risks, eg.
entering a semi broken house to get the stored food, move through water to reach a low lying
house and falling into unseen breaches etc. 2. The responsibility of putting together a temporary
shelter and moving out whatever is left of the house to this is mainly done by women and there
is significant addition of workload in performing both the normal roles (cooking and feeding,
child care, care of the livestock) and added roles such as cleaning articles, maintaining the
temporary shelter, safe guarding assets etc. Many of these roles make women sedentary and in
turn affect their role at community level. 3. Clearing debris from the original house is
undertaken once water recedes substantially and this is a role, played most visibly by women.
Injuries due to sharp objects like wood splinters, broken glass and metal and bites from insects,
and snakes are quite common and thus adding to the problem of women. Prolonged exposure to

Brave New World and 1984
As I read Brave New World and 1984, I noticed how some of Aldous Huxley and
George Orwell s prophecies are becoming true. As science and technology progresses,
we have the opportunity to alter few aspects of our lives, even though our freedom and
privacy may be in jeopardy.
In Brave New World, science allows babies to be artificially produced in a

Even though it is not as
extreme as in the Brave New World, I feel that we are also being conditioned. It is more
obvious now. When we watch commercials on television, we are conditioned to buy the
products and believe that by buying that particular brand of clothing we will look better
and be well liked. The ads are harmless as long as we do not sacrifice the important idea
that we genuinely want the product and that we are still making the decision to buy it.
A similarity between Oceania, in 1984, and our country today is that the caste
system still exists. Most of the power belongs to the rich, or the Inner Party. The middle
class, or the Outer Party, are trying to become part of the higher class. While the poor, or
the Proles, are working hard in order to make ends meet and just want to be left alone.
Like Orwell, I feel that the caste system will always exist.
21. Also, the citizens of Oceania are constantly being monitored by the government.
We are also being monitored. There are cameras everywhere, even though most of the
time we are not aware of it. When we go to the store, the surveillance cameras are there
to make sure we do not steal anything. When we go to the bank, cameras are watching us
make our transactions. In some cities, cameras may also be watching us as we cross the
street or get into our car. What is next? Cameras in our homes?

purchase one. Myself, I spent months and thousands trying to find the right guitar. Five guitars
later, I found the right one and decided that nobody else should have to go through that ordeal.
Here is a list of things to look at when you are trying to decide which guitaris right for you.Tone
This is probably the single most important thing to look at in a guitar. Whether you are playing
electric or acoustic, country, rock, blues, or jazz, you need to have a tone that fits your musical
genre. You wouldn t want to play a guitar that is perfect for country music in a heavy metal band.

Well get ready to drown in a sea of confusing options like body styles, pickup choices, hardware
options, manufacturer differences and modeling capabilities just to name a few. If you walk
into a decent size music store these days you will be confronted with more options than what the
latest luxury SUV offers. Or you might be thinking about browsing an online music store. Now
you have even more choices than your local store.Fortunately, it is possible to group these
choices together in a list of options that you can bring to your music store salesperson. So, let s
get started... STEP ONE: IDENTIFY YOUR MUSICAL TASTE Do you want to rock? Are you
into blues, jazz or country? Answer this question and you ll greatly narrow down your choices.
Certain types of guitars are typically used for certain styles of music. (In the interest of
maintaining a fair and objective position on brand names and products I will refrain from
mentioning specific brand names.) If it s modern or classic rock you re into, you re going to
want to find a solid body guitar. For a thick, rich tone you will want to select a guitar with
humbucking pickups. For a brighter thinner tone choose a guitar with single coil pickups. If you
re interested in those crazy 80 s guitar tricks you might want to find a guitar with a floating
tremelo If not, go ahead and choose a standard bridge or a fixed tailpiece. If you prefer a little
country twang, you re probably going

24. Summary Of The Four Spiritual Laws
Summary of Method I chose to research The Four Spiritual Laws the Intellectual method, this
method is a way to help bring the Good News to the un believers. Paul used this method when he
spoke to the people in Athens, when he spoke he was telling them how to have a relationship with
Jesus Christ. We can and should use the Intellectual method it can help you start a conversation.
One way you can start a conversation with a non believer is by asking have they heard about The
Four Spiritual Laws. The Four Spiritual Laws is a book written in 1952 by William Bill Bright an
American evangelist, he also founded Campus Crusade for Christ in 1951 as ministry for the
university students.
The first law is God s Love God loves you and offers a wonderful plan for your life. John 3:16 God
so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not
perish, but have eternal life. God s Plan Jesus said: The thief does not come except to steal, and to
kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more
abundantly . John 10:10 (NKJV) (www.cru.org 1994 2015) After those two verses the question is
asked, Why is it that most people are not experiencing that abundant life? Because of our sinful
ways. Which brings us to the second law.
The second law is Man is sinful and separated from God. Thus he cannot know and experience God
s love and plan for his life. Romans 3:23. All of us sin and our sin has

McMurphy calls the Therapeutic Community a Pecking Party. The ward meetings in Chapter Five
demonstrate the domination techniques that Ratched uses to exert her control. She starts the
meeting by bringing up Harding s problems and humiliating him by describing his personal and
psychological problems, then asking the other patients to comment on the problems she has
described. She attempts to reveal Harding s weakness and then let all of the patients follow her
lead. This indicates that she sets them all against each other and keeps them all feeling weak, so she
can easier dominate them all when they end up hurting each other and making it worse. Therefore,

26. Chuang Tzu s Basic Writings Essay
Chuang Tzu s Basic Writings, with his idea of the way which is effortless and ineffable, seem to
suggest a minimalist take on government. The Daoist philosophy present in the text has no room
for organized hierarchy or unified morality in the understanding of the world. This leaves no room
for government whose laws and bureaucracy are based on codified morality and hierarchy. The
governmentmust also allow its citizens to practice the wu wei, which means the government would
have to allow individual freedom. Thus the only suitable form of government following the way
would be a limited structure emphasizing individual morality essentially a libertarian form of
government. There is a lack of hierarchy in Chuang Tzu s Daoism due to the belief in the
indistinguishable position of the individual to the rest of humanity and humanity to all the world.
This is evident in The Dream and The Butterfly in which Chuang Tzu shows that the perspective of
a human is no truer than the perspective of a butterfly. In the fable, Chuang Tzu s questioning of
which organism is the reality and which is the dream blurs the distinction between humanity and
nature. This is consistent with Chuang Tzu s belief that humanity is one with nature, meaning that
human government should reflect the form of hierarchy present in the natural world. Such a belief
in the most natural sense of hierarchy would at first suggest that the way is a path of egalitarianism;
however, this belief that, in nature,

29. Miscarriage Of Justice InTwelve Angry Men And Montana 1948
Twelve Angry Men , written by Reginald Rose and Montana 1948 , written by Larry Watson,
displays many similarities in miscarriage of justice as characters are not necessarily being fair
and reasonable. Characters are also prejudice as they have a preconceived notion not based on
reason or actual experience and thus, act harshly towards a minority. In the first novel, Twelve
Angry Men, juror three bases his opinion of the alleged criminal on his son and not as an
individual. In Montana 1948, Wesley, David s father bases his opinion on his brother s molestation
and nearly allows for his brother to go unpunished. However, the differ as prejudice holds Wesley
back from taking action towards his brother, but he cannot ignore the injustice whereas prejudice
motivates juror three to act quickly and stereotypethe alleged as guilty as he cannot sustain his hate.
In Twelve Angry Men , written by Reginald Rose, juror three sees his son as the alleged and
cannot wait to punish him, however, the prejudice he has against the alleged criminal urges juror
three to take action as quickly as possible and votes a persistent guilty verdict. Throughout the play,
juror three is seen as an old, bitter man who makes his decisions based on his son and not his own
conscience. When he is a part of the jury, he has the chance to be fair and reasonable, which he
passes up the opportunity. He [feels] that knife going in when he talks about his son and how he

30. An Integrated Energy And Environmental Management System...
The manager of an integrated energy and environmental management system is responsible for
allocating carbon emission treatment amount to each carbon emitter within a multi period horizon.
In a regional energy system, there are some limitations for total emission amounts set up by the
emission constraints in certain periods. If carbon emission is larger than the emission target, the
over limit part should be treated by carbon mitigation facilities. In period k, carbon emission
amounts should be no more than the summation of carbon emission permit and the surplus credits
from previous period (k в€’1), in which surplus of emission credits are to be transferable to a
consecutive period (Li et al. 2012). Moreover, carbon emission inventory of different emitters may
vary from each period under the different operating condition, which can be expressed as a random
variable, the study system can be formulated through a MSP approach. Thus, in a MSP model for
carbon emission management system, the objective is to maximize system benefits while satisfying
the total carbon emission requirement. Specifically, the economic objective can be formulated as
follows: пј€1

determined by the capacity of carbon capture measures.

33. How The Cras Played A Significant Influence On Investor...
The Big Three global credit rating agencies have garnered immense scrutiny and criticism for the
role they played in the financial crisis and rightly so they were not only at the epicenter of this
colossal debacle but also exacerbated it. There is overwhelming evidence suggesting that the
marketing and sale of the MBSs at the core of this crisis would have been virtually impossible
without the CRAs signing off. The catastrophically inaccurate ratings they granted to securities they
rated helped the markets rally and their eventual massive downgrades left not just the US but also
the world economy in utter disarray. In spite of what arguments these agencies come up with to shy
away for any responsibility the fact remains that they chose big fees and bigger market shares over
integrity in a business that relies on integrity.
To understand how the CRAs played a major role in the crisis, we must first understand why they
became such a significant influence on investor perception. Investors both individual and
institutional look at the CRAs to provide them with risk analysis of a debt security, in form of a
credit rating, which is instrumental to these investors decision making process. The risk originates
due to two main factors: the ultimate mortgage holders never having met the debtors, and the sheer
complexity of these securities that comprise of parts of a plethora of loans. Most individual
investors lack the resources to gauge the creditworthiness of these loans. This

Natasha Trethewey constructs an idolized image of a father guiding their child through life s

Using the myth of Icarus, the speaker establishes the importance of myths in her relationship with
her father and the lessons that follow them as they mature. Furthering the importance of mythology
in the speaker s adolescence, the speaker transitions into the story of Narcissus, the man so
enraptured by his own reflection, he disregarded those who tried to save him from himself. The
speaker employs subtle references to the myth through visual imagery such as his watered face
floating / beautiful and tragic (14 15). Alongside the speaker s description of their own face as a
mirrored comfort, this careful choice of words reinforces the speaker s connection to the tale and
how it was relevant in their own life (17). By again utilizing kinesthetic imagery to describe how
their father pulls them to safety, the speaker has further established him as the active force in her
learning and maturation, guiding her away from life s problems and stepping in when necessary.
Once again, the father is the hero of the story, saving his child from becoming to entrapped in

vanity and self esteem, the influence of bedtime stories ingrained in them in children and their high
esteem for their father help them navigate their way through the challenges presented to them as
they grow older. Concluding sentence? The speaker continues to build an idolized image of their

In looking at the case between CCP Management, Inc. and Andrew Hoganmuller the logical
place to start is looking at a few terms, then considering the material facts and issues, next
exploring what case law has found in the past, and finally determining the outcome of the
dispute. Here are some terms we must consider in this case: A contract involves a promise in
return for reasonable consideration. Adequate consideration is a benefit or detriment, which a
party receives which reasonably and fairly induces them to make the promise/contract. State
statutory, common law, and private laws govern all contracts. Private law may supersede many
of the rules otherwise established by state law. Statutory law often requires some contracts to be
in writing and executed with particular formalities (Contract, n.d.). Refraining or promising to
perform or not perform some in exchange for something else. An offer must be stated and
delivered in a way that would lead a reasonable person to expect a binding contract to arise from
its acceptance (Offer, n.d.). Acceptance either can be quantified or inferred by the offeree s
conduct; however, judgment must be objective. Forming a binding contract, requires relaying
acceptance in a manner authorized, requested, or at least reasonably expected by the offeror

39. Analysis Of Sia Furler s Chandelier
A woman s work is never done: many people grow up with this saying and feel it to be true. One
such woman, artist Sia Furler, has written countless number one music hits, and she argues that
while society teaches us only young people can enter the mainstream music scene, you can still be
successful at an older age. Sia begins building her credibility by sharing personal accomplishments
as she enters the music scene, then goes on to cite convincing personal stories, and successfully
employs emotional appeals through her music debut; however, her dramatic entrance leaves you
wondering whether her attempt to appealto listeners attention weakens her credibility as an artist.
Throughout her era of new music, Sia uses strong appeals to logos, with many facts and logical
progression of ideas. As her single Chandelier hits number one, people started to wonder who the
girl behind the wig really was. She gives them facts of her past that bring them to like her even
more, going on to reveal that she s written number one hits sung by other artists. On the cover of
a billboard magazine Sia has a paper bag on her head with a message written on it saying, This
artist is responsible for over twelve million track sales, has a new single on the hunger games
soundtrack, and doesn t want to be famous...
Sia uses logos to entice mystery, giving out facts that only make listeners more obsessed with
finding out who she is. This may be one of the most important aspects of Sia advertising her new
music. A video titled ten songs you didn t know were written by Sia gains millions of views. All
this attention and mystery only drive up sales of the new single.
Adding to her logos appeal, Sia uses strong sources that strengthen her credibility and appeal to
ethos. She goes on to cite personal stories from her past that suck in the listener and gains their
trust. I was a pill popper, the hit maker shared with OK! Magazine, revealing that she became
dependent on Xanax and OxyContin, after being diagnosed with bipolar disorder.

credibility. This feeds the audiences values, who have discovered that Sia is a former drug addict

40. What Memories Tell About Truth
What Memories Tell About Truth It is a common belief that memories are important, but why is
that so? Is it because memory can be a marker for a person s level of intelligence or does it have
to do with the effect memory has on person? Memory can be thought of as a recollection of an
event that has been pieced together from information by the mind. These collections of memories
that a person possesses are what define their identity, assist in future decision making based on
past experiences, and describes life experiences. But memory can be a tricky. The tendency to
distort one s own memory can be a way to make the world more understandable and allows a person
to place these experiences in terms better fitting to their own needs. The Yellow Birds narrator,
Bartle, presents the connection between truth and memory in an interesting way. Through Bartle s
memories the idea of personal truth stems from a distorted account done for his own peace of mind
versus the acceptance of the factual truth.
When people reconstruct memories, they do not purposely try to distort the actual experience,
unless their motive was to lie. In the case of Bartle s memories, the motive behind his distortion was
done in emotional self preservation. Like most soldiers returning home from overseas, Bartle s
emotional state was distressing due to the traumatic events that happened in Al Tafar. As Bartle tries
to unravel and make sense of the events of the past year it is evident that the memories of

41. The Importance Of Naturalism In Eveline
Eveline is a short story in the genre of naturalism which means that it centres on life as it is and it
stresses the importance of the environment and heredity in shaping human destiny. It was written
by James Joyce in 1904 as part of a collection of portraits of people who lived in Dublin around
1900 titled Dubliners. The story features only two main settings Eveline s house and the port and
lasts only the span of one day. It was written by Joyce to show the monotonous lives of the people
who lived in Dublinat the time.
Joyce was openly critical of Irish parochialism and he wrote Eveline to prove his belief that
Ireland does not permit the development of individuality, as the character Eveline is presented
by Joyce to be the absolute epitome of Irish parochialism; rather than go after her ambition to
leave Ireland for a better life, Eveline s life is lead by her sense of duty. We see this when
Eveline doubts her ambitions, In her home any way she had shelter and food; she had those
whom she had known all her life about her, The simplistic reasoning that Joyce uses conveys the
absolute autonomy of Eveline s life as her only reasons to not chase her ambition are basic
requirements for most people s lives. Eveline, unfortunately, leads the stereotypical life for a
woman in Ireland around that time as her life was ruled by her sense of duty and the men in her
life rather than by her ambitions and herself. The reason Joyce did this was so he could share the

When it comes to team work, there are only two working positions to choose whether to be

while others would like to strive for a leading position in a team. Less responsibility and more
freedom can result in the choice of being a group member. From my perspective, however, the
advantages of being a leader outweigh the advantages of being a group member because a leader
not only has the strongest voice in the team but also have more access to all kinds of resources and
can gain more respect and admiration.
First of all, a leader holds a dominant position and have the strongest voice on decision. As a
group member, he is free to express his point of view and raise any objections. However, as a
leader, the core of the team, not only does he feel free to express his opinion, but also he is

44. The Positive Aspects Of Censorship In Rap Music
Censorship, if used in the correct way and context, can be an appropriate way to counteract
explicit content in today s pop culture. Tupac, a famously known rapper, is frequently seen as a
negative influence on adolescents. Yet some of his lyrics include, For every dark night, there s a
brighter day, If you believe than you can achieve, and many more uplifting messages imbedded
throughout his songs. He has created a blend of inspiration, sentiment, and provision for the future,
even though his work is all in the rap industry. The censorshipof rap music has become an
increasingly more popular debate topic as the genre takes over music charts worldwide. This
notion has begun to call more attention to the content of which the youth are tuning in to on a
daily basis. Parents and authorities are wanting to not only discourage the genre, but also rid it
from radios, TVs, and many streaming sites. Although some portions of rap can be violent and
condescending, censoring the genre would be repressing many positive aspects of it as well.
Throughout the rap culture, many songs touch on various challenging issues society faces
worldwide. Sexual harassment, abuse, drug addiction, and gang violence are among the most
popular controversial topics that appear on practically every rap album today. Censoring rap
would be acting as if these problems were not relevant and did not occur on a daily basis. Rapping
about these issues would not always be a negative entity. Rappers often call
