This document provides tips for conducting needs analysis and designing Business English courses using an English for Specific Purposes (ESP) approach. It discusses challenges in assessing learner needs, such as differing needs within a class and pressure to follow textbooks. The ESP approach involves initial needs analysis, designing a course based on needs, and adapting it based on observations. Specific techniques are suggested, such as asking learners to identify important "communicative events" in their work and conducting ongoing evaluations to continuously improve the course. While ESP has limitations, it allows customizing training when needs are well-defined and personalization is possible.
