This document discusses two narrative theories: Todorov's and Vladimir Propp's. Todorov's theory states that narratives follow the structure of equilibrium, disequilibrium, recognition of the disruption, resolution to resolve it, and restoration of equilibrium. Vladimir Propp analyzed folktales and identified eight recurring character roles. The document asks students to consider how these theories apply and to put the stages of Todorov's theory in order.
