PATENTED TECHNOLOGY
NANOSOLVE – This patented technology is used for patenting
nanoformulations.
Some common patents in cosmeceuticals –
Cosmetic composition containing retinol stabilized by porous polymer beads and
nanoemulsion.
Multiactive microtargeted antiaging skincream polymer technology.
Semipermanent mascara and method of applying.
Metal oxide noncomposites for UV protection.
Deodorant composition.
O/W type emulsion sunscreen cosmetic composition.
FORMULATION OF NANOPARTICLES
• SUNSCREEN – In formulating sunscreen nanoparticles of Titanium Dioxide and
Zinc Oxide are used as UV filters.
• Mainly sunscreen containing nanoparticles are used because these ultra-fine
nanoparticles make the sunscreen less opaque.
Preparation Methods – Laser ablation, Hydrothermal methods,
Electrochemical depositions, Sol-gel method, Chemical-vapour
deposition, Thermal decomposition, Combustion method, Ultrasound
Nanoparticle is ultrafine particle usually defined as a particle of matter
whose size in between 1 to 100nm in diameter.
FORMULATION OF NANOPARTICLES contd.
• ANTI-AGING CREAM - Antiaging products are the main cosmeceuticals in the
market currently being made using nanotechnology.
• L'Oreal has employed nanotechnology in products such as Revitalift antiwrinkle
cream which contains nanosomes of Pro-Retinol A, and claims that it instantly
rejuvenates the skin and reduces the appearance of wrinkles.
• Lancôme introduces Hydra Zen Cream to renew the skin's healthy look which contains
nanoencapsulated Triceramide.
Some Nano based products –
 Nanogold firming treatment (Chantecaille)
 Nanosphere plus (DermaSwiss)
 Zelens Fullerene C-60 Night Cream (Zelens)
FORMULATION OF NANOPARTICLES contd.
• MOISTURIZER - . Moisturizers contain ingredients that are either occlusive
(blocking) or humectant. Nanoparticle based moisturizer are mainly used for its better
efficacy property- it show better action than conventional ones.
• Liposomes, nanoemulsions, SLNs are widely used moisturizing formulations because of
their prolonged effects.
Some Nano-based products –
 Hydra Flash Bronzer Daily Face moisturizer (Lancome)
 Hydra Zen Cream (Lancome)
 Nano-In Hand and Nail Moisturizing Serum and
Foot Moisturizing Serum (Nano infinity Nanotech)
FORMULATION OF NANOPARTICLES contd.
• FACE WASH - The skin is covered with a hydrolipid film that, depending on the area
of the body, comprises secretions from sebaceous glands and from apocrine and eccrine
sweat glands. Periodic cleansing to remove debris, dirt, and odor is essential to maintain
skin health.
• Silver nanoparticles are used as skin disinfectant and decontamination. Nano Cyclic
Inc. produces Nano Cyclic cleanser pink which is a scientifically balanced blend of
nanosilver and natural ingredients and claims that it kills harmful bacteria and fungi,
fights acne, and diminishes age spots and sun damaged skin.
Some Nano-based products –
 Nano Cyclic Cleanser Silver (Nano Cyclic)
 LifePak Nano (Pharmanex)
• Cosmetics are luxury articles, the usage of which has increased multi-fold in the
past few years.
• The Indian cosmetics market is currently worth $6.5 billion and is growing
exponentially.
• The research, production, quality control and sale of these products have been
augmenting steadily.
• Nanotechnology has proved, beyond doubt, its beneficial effects especially in
sunscreen products, skin care creams, lipsticks, toothpastes, hair cosmetics,
shaving preparations, shampoos, anti aging formulations in the past decade.
