8. TRANSFERS AND DECALS
A nail art transfer is also known as
a decal and can be applied to
either a polished or an unpolished
nail. They are usually produced
onto a background of white gloss
paper, which releases the picture
when it comes into contact with
water. Also available, are selfadhesive decals that have a sticky
adhesive backing. These can be
simply stuck onto the nail – no
need for any water.

9. FOILS
Foils produce a unique effect providing a metallic finish in a
variety of designs, patterns and colours. For best results, the
foil should be applied over an enamel of a similar shade, as
the enamel colour will show through.
A layer of foil adhesive is applied first
and then the foil is placed onto the
nail, pattern side up, then rubbed
over with a damp cotton bud until
the design has transferred onto the
nail.
