2. INTRODUCTION-
heart attack," is caused by decreased or complete cessation of blood
flow to a portion of the myocardium. Myocardial infarction may be
"silent," and go undetected.

Reduced blood flow in coronary artery.
Anaemia
Family history
Age/ gender
Smoking
Obesity
Lack of estrogen in women

6. PATHOPHYSIOLOGY
Due to etiological factors
Atherosclerosis(fat & cholesterol in artery wall)
Obstruction
Ischemia
Hypoxia
Reduced oxygen demand
Thrombolysis (blood clots in vessels)
Necrosis (death of body tissue)

9. MEDICAL MANAGEMENT:-
Oxygen therapy- 3 lit.by nasal cannula.
Thrombolytic therapy- urokinase and
plasminogen activators are used to
dissolve clot by IV.
Analgesic therapy- morphine
Vasodilators- nitroglycerin
Calcium channel blockers- nifedipine
Anti coagulant- heparin

10. SURGICAL MANAGEMENT-
Coronary artery bypass surgery
Percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty
Coronary stent
Transmyocardial laser revascularization

11. NURSING MANAGEMENT:-
Assess the patient’s medical history & family history
Assess patient’s family’s level of anxiety
Assess patients & family’s knowledge of disease
Assess the heart rate, blood pressure.
