Deaf Like Me by Thomas S. Spradley and James P. Spradley
Have you ever felt like there was nothing that you can do for your child? In the book, Deaf Like
Me, by Thomas S. Spradley and James P. Spradley, I can the journey that Lynn s parents had to
take to get her help. This book was excellent I really liked the way that they described the ways
that they tried to help Lynn to understand the world around her. In this book, I also saw how a
mother and father will do anything for their child so that they can understand all that is around
them. This book, is also a great asset to any family that might be unexpectedly thrown into a
situation that they do not expect such as a deaf child. The author Thomas S. Spadley is Lynn s
father. He is the one that was with them all the time and saw all that his... Show more content on

In this school they wanted for all the children to be oral by the time that they got to kindergarten
and be ready for regular academics. (148) this was there second time with professionals that had
their ideas of what a deaf child should be able to do. Lynn started school with a teacher named
Ms. Taylor that began to teach the children so that they could recognize what they needed to be
successful later on in their schooling. Dr. Barrington, a psychologist, taught a class to the
parents of deaf children on how to read to them so that they understand. (175) this is where the
Spradleys learned that the more they read to Lynn the better she would understand them and be
able to lip read what they were saying. Lynn also went to the Starr school that they wanted to
keep as an Oral school, so she had to learn to speak. (207) When going to a PTA Meeting for the
school, this is when Louise and Tom saw a deaf couple signing to each other. This is when they
met with Bill and Kim that taught them that Lynn could learn to sign and that it would be a good
thing for them to learn also. In the first week Lynn could sign thirteen words that she had already
knew and just did not have anything to go along with the word. As the family learned more and
more about Lynn and her deafness, the reader can see that they began to accept it. The changes all
came slowly, the more that they learned about the disability that Lynn had. The reader can see that

Themes in The Invisible Man by H.G Wells
The Invisible Man has many possible themes. There are multiple examples of different themes in
the novel. Most of them can almost fall under the same idea. The main theme for the novel is
how excessive greed can have unintended consequences. The main character, Griffin, goes mad
with the power of being invisible. It gets to the point that he is not even trying to just stay
hidden anymore, he is just trying to cause as much mayhem in the country as possible. One of
the first instances of greed is when he starts to take advantage of Mrs. Hall, the woman who
owns the Coach Horses Inn. Mrs. Hall mainly feels bad for him at first because she thinks he is
very hurt or injured in some sort of way due to him wrapping his head up. Griffin keeps... Show

Soon all over the town burglaries start to occur. In the middle of the night the people who are
being robbed can hear someone in their house, but when they search around there is no one to
be found. So since the incident with Mr. Cuss and all these burglaries, the townspeople start to
point fingers are Griffin. The Hall s even send a person after Griffin to perform an exorcism
thinking he is a witch or something that has to do with magic. After a while Griffin does not pay
his bill at the inn for a few days, Mrs. Hall wants an explanation for it. He even tries to give her
more money but she refuses it. Now earlier in the novel him paying for his rent with the money
he stole was only real use for the money. Now that he cannot even give Mrs. Hall any more
money, he has no use for the money he has stolen whatsoever. After she asks for an explanation,
he removes all of his clothes to show how he invisible. Tons of people come to inn to see what is
going on, soon a man comes to take him in for questioning about all of the burglaries that have
been going on all around the town. Griffin becoming exposed to the entire town now has caused
him to flee to the country or farm area. Once again he has been punished in a way for the things
he has done. He definitely could have gone around having to leave the town. He got way to
greedy and careless about his actions. The only way he is trying to fix his problems are by violence
or just idiotic

The View Of The Leaning Process
The leaning process is very complex but my philosophy of learning is founded on a relationship of
credibility, knowledge and, escalation of mental grows. Some of the greatest minds are true
fundamental to my statement such as Socrates the Greek philosopher and the main source of
Western thought; The English physicist and mathematician Isaac Newton, most famous for his law
of gravitation, was instrumental in the scientific revolution of the 17th century; Italian scientist and
scholar Galileo made pioneering observations that laid the foundation for modern physicsand
astronomy and ; Albert Einstein was a German born physicist who developed the general theory of
relativity, among other feats. He is considered the most influential physicist of the 20th century.
These scientists are the inspiration to my philosophy.
The importance of credibility
The knowledge base of a person can be corrupted by an outside influential(s) that could hinder the
knowledge material transmittable to other(s). This knowledge could be influence negativity
without notice by the transmitter or facilitator some examples are; any kind status, fallacious
knowledge, religion, political agenda, even sexual orientation. Knowledge that is infected by any
negative influences is neither valid nor reliable. Therefore, credibility it is violated. Socrates the
pioneer of seeking knowledge he used to go to the streets and just talked to people just to learn
something new. Socrates asked a methodical series

Lantana and Snow Falling on Cedars
Lantana and Snow Falling on Cedars present a variety of relationships that explore the restrictions
of characters in a culturally limiting society, and ones with intertwining emotions and secrets that
contain a darker reality. The crucial type of relationship in both texts is the forbidden connections
that are abundant with unrealistic expectations, developed through characterisation as the plot
progresses. The texts also display the relationships that have become dysfunctional after significant
events, detailing the long term effects on the characters through dialogue. The two texts provide
elaborate explanations on these relationships, while exploring the reactions of the characters and
their position in the relationship.
Both texts incorporate characterisation to portray the character s position in the relationship and
the outcome of their association. The unrealistic love between a young Ishmael and Hatsue, as
well as the temporary connection between Jane and Leon represent the forbidden relationships in
the novel and film. Ishmael is portrayed as a character with the belief that love conquers all,
which is depicted through his declaration that If we love each other we re safe from it all. Love is
the biggest thing there is. , similar to Jane s representation as a naГЇve character searching for
emotion with Leon, through her attempts to approach him with more than physical intentions.
Although they each become physically engaged, it is Ishmael and Jane who become

The Copper Sun Character Analysis
People talk about change as if it is a bad thing. Change can often be a good thing, especially
when it comes to people. In the book The Copper Sun Polly meets Amari and isn t exactly
friendly with her. But through the duration of the book, Polly starts to care for Amari and even
admits they re friends. This is a major transition from when we first meet her. Polly emotionally
and psychologically evolved from an emotionally closed, racist, aloof character to a friendly
protagonist who starts to appreciate and care for Amari, by not doubting her, befriending her, and
her self realization of her friendship and of the delicate idea of freedom.
By the end of the novel, Polly stopped doubting Amari s skill as a person, something she did
before. On page 193, Polly says She glanced at Amari, a girl who just a few months ago had
seemed so dirty and disgusting. Now they were caught up together in a situation... (Draper, 193).
Also, on page 94, Polly says Either I m a very good teacher, or you re not as stupid as you look
(Draper, 94). For the first quote, Polly is fully aware that she thought of Amari as Dirty and
Disgusting , but she is able to look past her previous thoughts and doubts about her work together
with her in the situation . The second quote is very early into the novel, but very strongly shows her
change. Polly, in a sense, admits she doubts Amari s intelligence. But Polly very quickly takes back
the doubt, not without complimenting herself. After Polly quits

How Does Goya Design Transcend Into Modern Caricature And...
Baudelaire once said, Caricatures are often the most faithful mirror of life. The art of caricature was
established into print in eighteenth century England as a form of commentary on the current events
of the time. Caricature as a style itself is a combination of two separate social inventions. Caricature
Adopting the Italian invention of caricatura the graphic exaggeration of facial and bodily features
for comic effect and combining it with an updated repertoire of visual metaphor, personification,
and allegorical attributes. Though born in England, the story about to be told in this paper is one
of Spanish origin, a story about Francisco Goya. This paper will discuss how Goya implemented
painting, drawing, and printing technique to stimulate social critique of and satirize the subjects of
his works. Then how does Goya s methodology transcend into modern caricature and social
critique?
Before one can talk about his prints, one must understand who Francisco Goya is as an artist. Goya
was a Spanish romantic painter and printmaker of late 18th and early 19th centuries and throughout
his long career was an important commentator and chronicler of his era. Goya produced a great
number of works in a variety of media in his lifetime. He did religious subjects in painted frescos
and portraits, he then also depicted life in Spain through aquatints, etchings, and lithographs .

Morality In Macbeth
MORAL VALUE IN THE PLAY MACBETH
Positive moral values
a. Affection and love
Both Macbeth and Lady Macbeth love each other. Although they are blinded by the evil ambition,
they are a good couple. Macbeth loves his wife and so does she. Macbeth accepts her guidance
and advice and consults her concerning his plans. He shares his joy with his wife. Moreover, he is
affectionate in his action toward her and uses terms of endearment when speaking to her.
It is proved that when Macbeth is told of Lady Macbeth s death, he is too weary to feel more than
just a dull sense of loss and regret. Though, Lady Macbeth is more ambitious woman in prompting
in killing the king Duncan and makes him in downfall, Lady Macbeth also loves much his husband,

I have recently experienced the worst of family dynamics. Admitted to our floor was a elderly
lady that was admitted with a urinary tract infection. This woman had many other comorbidities
that consisted of diabetes, congestive heart failure, large stage four pressure ulcer that overlaid the
sacrum and coccyx and was bedridden due to the effects of two major strokes. Her daughter was

familytrait but became an unhealthy one the moment the mother was admitted for care. Her
daughter would not allow the nurses to perform the necessary interventions prescribed and require

Cerebral Palsy Essay
Cerebral palsy is the term given to a general group of nonspecific neuromuscular disorders that
cause behavioral abnormalities. The condition was originally thought to be caused by asphyxia and
trauma during pregnancy; however, through extensive research many divisions of cerebral palsy
emerged. Such categories include spastic, athetoid, and ataxic cerebral palsy. Today over half a
percent of the worlds population is subject to this condition of the brain. Two to four out of a
thousand are affected in the industrialized United States; however, with the introduction of new
preventive measures the numbers of cerebral palsy victims born each year are expected to decline.

(Britannica.com, Cerebral Palsy, page 1) Cerebral palsy is a general name for an extensive set
of disorders caused by brain damage before or shortly after the first two years of birth. The three
major forms include spastic, athetoid, and ataxic cerebral palsy. It is also not uncommon for
victims to suffer from mixed type cerebral palsy that has variations of two or more of the other
classifications. (Grolier Encyclopedia, Cerebral Palsy, pages 1 2) Of the individuals with cerebral
palsy six out of the ten will have the spastic form. Symptoms include noticeably reduced movement
caused by stiff or permanently contracted muscles. Spastic cerebral palsy results from damaged
nerve fibers that carry impulses for voluntary motor control. Another form of cerebral palsy that
accounts for about two in ten of all the cases is the athetoid type. Symptoms include uncontrolled
movements due to damage to brain nerve fibers responsible for inhibition of muscle movements.
Finally, the ataxic type of cerebral palsy, which accounts for only one in a hundred cases is
associated with difficulty in coordination while walking and other limb movements. This is caused
by injury to the cerebellum, the area of the brain responsible for skeletal muscle control and
balance. (James Blackman, Cerebral Palsy, page 2)

Morquio Syndrome
Morquio syndrome is an uncommon hereditary birth defect that is likely to happen in one of
every 200,000 births. This illness may not be noticeable at birth. Some symptoms start between
the years of 1 and 3. This syndrome is an advanced illness meaning that each year the child gets
older this disease gets even worse.
Morquio syndrome belongs to a group of syndromes named mucopolysaccharidosis (MPS).
Morquio is also identified as MPS IV.In kids with Morquio syndrome, the body cannot breakdown

Morquio syndrome is treated in several ways, because the disorder can disturb quite a lot of body
systems. Depending on the intensity of the illness the treatment is different. Some children may
only need cautious observing. Others might need non surgical or surgical treatments to address
precise features of their condition.
Several children with Morquio disease are detected with orthopedic disorders containing: scoliosis,
kyphosis, skeletal dysplasia, narrow chest, joint conditions and leg deformities. In some cases, these
conditions are present at birth and can be treated when the child is very young.
Depending on your child s needs, orthopedic specialists from our Spine Program, Hip Disorders
Program, Leg Disorders Program or Sports Medicine may treat your child.
My opinion
Cognitive function is typically usual in patients with Morquio syndrome. Bone deformities can
cause significant problems. Such as, the small bones on top of the neck might slip and ruin the
spinal cord, leading to paralysis. Surgery is needed to help correct these problems. But cardiac
complications may lead to death. This disease is very complicated and it s needed of much medical
attention. A million condolences to those who poses such syndrome. But keep trying never give up

Why Was Lady Jane Grey
Lady Jane Grey was 16 when she faced the block. Barely having ruled for 9 days she was
overthrown by Queen Mary and forced to resign her title as queen. But what is it that lead her to
be overthrown? Why was she crowned Queen in the first place? As a result because of the
countries religious reformations it is a major point to what lead to Lady Jane s usurpation and
her succession battle with Queen Mary between 1547 1553. Due to that the countries beliefs
were split, who would be King Edward s successor was in everyone s interest especially for the
Queen Mary and the Duke of Northumberland. Because the people of England were on Mary s

Gloria Estefan s Latin Music
Introduction: As mentioned by Gloria Estefan, a woman who has in truth, changed the Latin music
world: The most beautiful thing about Latin music is that it transcends most anything .
Determining from what Estefan has brought up of Latin pop, she seems to have had a great
influence to this genre. Consequently, it will be examined how Estefan s musicdefines this genre
and elaborated onto the point of the context and backgrounds of Latin pop.
Origination of Latin Pop:

It goes Come on baby, do the conga I know you can t control yourself any longer . To be clear, this
part has 22 beats.
Tempo and Dynamics:
In the beginning of the song, the tempo starts off quickly and very rapid, yet after a minute, it
seems to slow down. Additionally, at the end, the beat increases again. This would mean that at the
start and end of the song, the dynamics are forte (f), whilst comparing this to the middle of the
song, the dynamics of mezzo forte (mf).
Form: To start off, the Conga tracks an unusual form being A, B, C, D, B, E, F, B, B , G. Thus,
there does not seem to be a clear format seen. Nevertheless, this gives the song a great interest.
Conclusion:
To conclude, Gloria Estefan had a great influence on the entertaining genre. Estefan was the first
American artist who combined modern American Pop music with traditional Latin rhythms and
language. With this new and modern style she became very successful in the Americasand brought
Latin Pop music all around the globe. Currently, there are many artists inspired by Gloria Estefan s
music and temper, such as Luis Fonsi, who at the moment is one of the most popular Latin music
artists. All of these varied features take part in latin musical pieces and come to generate
overwhelming dynamics, upbeat tempos and emotional and relatable means which have made

The Negative Effects Of Coal Mining
Coal mining has generated, over the last century a series of negative impacts on our environment
such as coal mining accidents, land sinkage, damage to the water environment mining waste
disposal and air pollution. Although much of the damage is done to the environment it also affects
us humans too in such a way. However nothing has been done to help this complication to stop this
catastrophic activity to stop our planet from diminishing away.
How does is affect people?
Mining is the first step in the dirty life cycle of coal. When coal mines move in, whole
communities are forced of their land/providence due to expanding mines, which contribute
massively to coal fires, subsidence, and overused and contaminated water supplies, due to the
poisonous fumes and deadly minerals/chemicals. manufactured from the coal mines. Although
coal mines are quick to shut down and go away due to coal shortage they leave a path of
destruction behind them like acid mine drainage which can persist and spread to other lands
such as crops for decades which would also affect farmers near by by killing all their crops and
affecting other land owners by spreading the air with this dangerous and poisonous substance.
Which would not enable the previous land owners to come and live again due to the eradication
the coal mine has left behind it. Noting coal miners would have also been affected due to the
poisonous gas surrounding all around their working environment which would have made some
very sick and some even losing their live due to the amount of gas they transferred into their body.
Where is the conflict occurring?
Coal mining is a huge industry and it happens almost everywhere in the world. But then there are
ten top coal producers in the world which produces most of the worlds coal. China is by far the
worlds largest coal producer, producing 3700 MT annually. USA is the second top coal producer at
916 MT annually. India is the third largest coal producer producing 668 MT annually. Australia is
situated at number 4 producing 491MT annually. And Indonesia at fifth place producing 471MT
annually.
When did the conflict start?
Coal has been used for decades and centuries, so far back to around 1000 BC. However in the 1700

Understanding the Biblical Worldview There are lots of non Christian or secular worldviews. I
believe that there is one biblical or Christian worldview. This could be referred to as the basic
Christian worldview. It reflects the basic principles of Christianity. Dr. Henderson gives a brief
explanation of authentic and holistic Christianityin his presentation. I agree with what Dr.
Henderson said, authentic Christianity is Christ centered and biblically based .[1] My Christian
worldview should be characterized, by who I am in Christ and what I know to be biblical.
Romans 12:2 says, And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of
your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. [2] I
want God to shape my worldview, rather than have it shaped by this world.
Dr. Henderson said, A worldview contains a person s answers to the most important questions in
life. [3] Christians are given the answers to those questions through the Word of God. We believe
that the Word of God is authoritative. Dr. Henderson said, The Bible is the Word of God, as
Scripture, as what has been written down, as the Holy Spirit enabled and guided holy people to
write it. [4] As a Christian, I should seek to apply the Word of God to every aspect of my life.
A person s worldview, whether it is Christian or non Christian, is often influenced by their
experiences. People develop different ways of thinking, as they experience the world

The Financial Crisis Of The Usa
1. Introduction
In 2007 2008, most firms and individuals experienced a worst financial crisis in the recent 80 years.
The crisis first started at the USA then extended to the whole world and it spreads from the financial
markets to the real economy rapidly. During this financial disaster, Unfortunately, some financial
institutions such as Lehman Brothers, WorldCom and General Motors did not overcome the
negative impacts unfortunately, covering almost all major industrials who have a significant effect
to the global financial markets. The main source of the crisis is precisely from investment banks,
who lent money to individuals according to the value of collateral like investment properties.
However, with the movements of market price, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most principal aspects of counter party credit risk such as risk classifications, risk measurements
will be discussed in the following chapters. Since financial risk management is playing an
indispensable role in recent years, how to balance between the expected loss and potential return is
a commonly concerned topic in financial institutions. Meanwhile, some portfolio models, related
simulation methods as well as the methodology of coding EE, PFE, CVA and RC will be
introduced later.
2. Counter party credit risk
This type of risk is known as default risk between two or more counter parties. Though it is one
risk type and it may occur together with other dangers such as market risk, liquidity risk and
liquidation risk. It can be seen that each one type of these risks may change the positions of counter
parties, which will give rise to the result that a firm or individual cannot afford the contractual debt.
Recently, counter party credit risk is regarded as one main financial risk due to a sequence of the
failures of some global firms in 2007 2008 such as Lehman Brothers, Washington Mutual and
Enron. In general, the size and the scale of counter party can be considered as a protective barrier
of credit risk, but these cases above contradict the point of view.

Hearts written by Wendy Cope is an enjoyable piece that draws readers in with its simplicity and
straightforwardness. The title of the piece, tells the reader exactly what the poem is about while
the writer s thoughts are followed throughout the length of the poem with the writer s unique style.
Cope s approach of classified advertisements captures the reader s imagination and understanding

Clarissa Dalloway Characteristics
Introduction Virginia Woolf hailed by many as a radical writer of genius (DiBattista, 2006) is
one of the most iconic writers in the history of literature. Most of her novels are well known and
largely studied even today. This paper will focus on one f her most celebrated novels, Mrs.
Dalloway, which gives the readers a detailed insight into one day in the life of a fictional
character called Mrs. Clarissa Dalloway. When Woolf was writing the introduction for this novel
she mentions that when an author writes a book she inserts many layers of meaning into her work.
While reading, the reader might discover each layer but it would be up to the reader to decide what
was relevant and what not. (Woolf, 1928, p.36) Hence, though this book concentrates... Show more

Sally Seton represented the rebellious, wild passion that Clarissa would never explore by
herself due to the constraints of the society. Sally was outrageous, she lacked inhibitions, and
she didn t care about the normal rules of society. She rose in Clarissa a passion and heat which
no man in her life could ignite again. The kiss they shared is described as the most exquisite
moment of her [Clarissa] whole life (Woolf, 2005, p. 35) and yet they both knew that nothing
could come of it. Even though Sally was rebellious, girls in the English society were supposed to
get married to well established men and be their loving wife. Even though the reason is not
explicitly stated, Sally and Clarissa might not have gotten together due to the society pressure.
Besides Sally, Clarissa also left behind Peter Walsh, a person she still remembers fondly often in
the present. Throughout the novel, it is made obvious that they both are still in love with one
another. When Clarissa is out enjoying the London weather she fondly refers to him as her dear
Peter (Woolf, 2005, p. 6) and mentions how he would be adorable (Woolf, 2005, p. 6) to walk

IHSDA Dance
Hard Work Pays Off
Our coaches had told us since the beginning that the months and months we would spend
preparing for one particular day would all be worth it in the end. Taking place at New Castle
Fieldhouse in early March 2015, I competed in the IHSDTA Dance team competition with my
fellow teammates and members of the NHS dance team. We walked into the vast, expansive
Fieldhouse knowing that it was the largest High School Fieldhouse in the Nation. The anticipation
in the air was electric and full of excited chatter of girls who had been preparing for months for this
one day... actually for these two minutes.
We were a pom and hip hop team. Because this was Noblesville s first year competing, opposing
teams arrived with low expectations for us, and they also showed a polite disregard for our team.
I was to dance that day, but only once. I understood the privilege, for I was a freshman on a varsity

Ten minutes later, we were already getting ready for the next dance, the one I was to perform.
I m going to play the music once, and you re going to close your eyes and think about the dance.

Characteristics And Qualities Of Schizoid Personality...
There are many people in the world today living with psychological disorders that may not be
apparent to the naked eye. Some disorders can be obvious yet other disorders take a skilled
professional to diagnose. A disorder that can be very trying on individuals diagnosed with it but not
be noticeable as a personality disorderin passing would be Schizoid Personality Disorder. There are
specific traits and qualities that make this disorder stand out.
Schizoid Personality Disorder is most commonly diagnosed in individuals who are 19 years of
age and older. Although teens and adolescents between the ages of 6 and 18 can be diagnosed
with this disorder, it is often uncommon and rare. In order for an individual to be diagnosed
with Schizoid Personality Disorder, there is certain criteria that has to be met to be clinically
diagnosed. According to the DSM 5, table 12.2, there are several things that have to be confirmed.
First, the individual does not desire or enjoy close relationships with people which includes being
part of a family. Secondly, the individual just about always chooses solitary activities rather than
activities with friends such as concerts or amusement parks. Next, they will have little, if any,
interest in having sexual experiences with another person. Furthermore, the individual will lack
close friends or confidants other than first degree relatives and will take pleasure in very few, if
any, activities. Lastly, the individual will appear to be indifference to

Food Insecurity and food accessibility are major problems not only in rural areas but also low
income urban areas throughout the United States. The term food desert or an area with limited
or no access to healthy, affordable and nutritious food was coined during a U.K. Study into food
accessibility for those in the lowest income neighborhoods which contained no major grocery
store and had the lowest rate of car ownership. This problem has come across the pond and we ve
seen many major grocery retailers flee from cities and move to the more profitable suburbs, what s
worse is as grocery stores consolidate they leave many neighborhoods under served by convenience

One significant effect of lack of supermarket access is its negative impact on diet. If a significant
portion of the people on public assistance cannot afford to eat healthfully and furthermore do not
have the ability or the nutritional education necessary to live a healthy lifestyle this has immediate
effects on the growing epidemics of obesity, heart disease and other lifestyle related illnesses and
on the health system that is already at capacity.
Three key elements are described in Sparks piece: proximity, variety and competition. Proximity
is important because research shows low income people are less likely to own an automobile.
Variety is important because research into retail choice suggests people value variety and do not
always shop at the supermarket that is closest to home (Handy,1996). Finally, competition is an
accepted price control mechanism, which is important when evaluating access for low income
populations. (Sparks). These are described as the most important factors because they will play
biggest role in where a person chooses to shop for food given the choice.
Not all the experts agree however that the prevalence of fast food and the limited access of fresh
food is the driving factor in the rise of obesity. A study conducted by the RAND corporation a non
profit federally funded research center recently released a study that found that among adults the
neighborhood food environment had little or no relation to the adult subjects

However, opponents must address the facts that states are carrying out the death penalty in the most
humanitarian way possible. In the constitution, cruel and unusual capital punishment defines the
acts of disemboweling, beheading, quartering, dissecting, and burning alive [those who are found
guilty of capital punishment], all of which share the deliberate infliction of pain for the sake of pain
( BAZE vs. REES 1). On the other hand, thirty of the thirty six states that have legalized capital
punishment carry out capital punishment through lethal injection. The injection consists of a
combination of three drugs: The first, sodium thiopental, induces unconsciousness when given in
the specified amounts and thereby ensures that the prisoner does not experience any pain
associated with the paralysis and cardiac arrest caused by the second and third drugs, pancuronium
bromide and potassium chloride...( BAZE vs REES 1).
Thus, those who are encumbered with capital punishment are endowed the least ghastly way to die

How For Achieving A Successful Sale Essay
How to Achieve a Successful Sale
Selling your property can be a very stressful process and will most likely be one of the biggest
financial decisions you will ever make in your life. We have put this guide together to help you
maximise your sale price and guide you through the conveyancing process.
Many sellers wish to undertake the marketing and sale of their properties privately, and whilst this
is fine, be prepared to navigate the pitfalls that come with it. You may eventually make a sale, and
save paying commission, but will you achieve a premium price?
If you appoint a professional Real Estate Agent, you are more likely to have a quicker sale and
achieve the premium price you are after. The basic law of marketing your propertyis to make sure,
the more people who see it the better the chances of securing a sale. By reaching as many potential
buyers as possible will create competition for your property. And that is why we would recommend
appointing a Real Estate Agent.
Your property is your biggest tax free asset, so you obviously want a sale at the highest price.
There are several mediums which can be used to market your property to attract a broad range of
buyers, such as:

St. George And The Dragon Theme
A theme is the topic of a story. It is the main idea. Sometimes, themes are stated in a sentence in
stories, but in other times the theme is not stated at all. St. George from St. George and the
Dragon and David from The Story of David are similar characters and have similar story themes.
St. George from St. George and the Dragon is a very courageous, strong, brave, and generous
character. His main goal is to help others and defeat bandits, dragons, or any threat to the welfare
of others. His heroic actions bring fear to wild animals and anyone or anything that has a bad

Essay On Risk-Dependent Lncrnas
3)Risk dependent lncRNAs transcripts significantly recaptured both neural tube specific enhancers
that were validated in vivo and the neuroblastoma susceptibility variations that were found by
GWASs.
In order to discover oncogenic noncoding loci, we first asked whether deregulated noncoding
transcripts between two distinct risk groups over represent functional enhancers that have been
evident by tissue specific enhancer activities and disease susceptibility alleles in neuroblastoma.
To identify functional enhancers from transcriptome profiling, we have reanalyzed dysregulated
transcripts derived from total RNA seq data (GSE49711, n=498, tumor cell content 60%) pertaining

Specifically, over 1400 positively validated tissue specific enhancers were downloaded from the
VISTA Enhancer Browser (31). These in vivo validation was tissue specific, thus an empirical p
value was also calculated per type of tissue and enriched for neural tube (empirical P 0.005, Fig
3D). We conclude that risk group dependent lncRNAs are a powerful metric to indicate tissue
specific functional enhancers. A risk dependent enhancer was hereafter defined from the neuro tube
specific enhancers if its locus overlaps with any risk dependent lncRNAs.
Oncogenic signaling underlying these tissue specific and risk dependent enhancers is ready for
interpretation. We identified 37 neural tube specific risk dependent enhancers, of which we
observed three strong associations to oncogenesis below:
We first inquired the TF binding potency, as the binding of sequence specific TFs to cognate motifs
is typically required by enhancers to regulate gene expression (32). 70 human TFs showed
significant binding potency (odds 1.5, FDR 0.001, with more than 10% instance proportion), with
tumorigenic regulator FoxM1 among the top 5 (Fig 3E).
None housekeeping genes were captured, agreeing with the idea that housekeeping genes are in
general regulated by simple promoters (1). In contrast, these TFs significantly over represent
known oncogenes (P=0.01, odds=5) and tumor suppressor genes (P=0.0003, odds=7.5, Fig

The Voyager Golden Record is a record consisting of multiple messages which was put onto the

extraterrestrial life if they were to ever come across this record (NASA). The purpose of these
records is to give information and later with Voyager 1 and 2, tell stories of life on Earth to other

The Heart Reserves A Special Place For Music
The heart reserves a special place for music. To many, music is more than a melody or a
combination of sounds pulsating in ears; it brings out emotions, memories, and shared vibes.
Whether a person is an avid listener or casually listens to music, everyone has a few specific
albums that laid a foundation for the music they currently enjoy. Recently, I have rediscovered one
of these albums, Madvillainy, when putting my old playlist on shuffle. The album consists of
Daniel Dumile, the album s MC (rapper) who goes by many aliases, but most commonly as MF
Doom, and Otis Jackson Jr., or Madlib. The underground hip hop album was released in 2004 and
is now considered a classic by many. The album s 22 tracks consist of skits, instrumentals, and
rapping with most tracks around two minutes long. Madvillainy has proven to me to be a
masterpiece and a consistently good listen.
One of the qualities that set Madvillainy apart from its peers, is the superb production
performance given by Madlib. The album s production is magnificent, even to Pitchfork
standards, saying, the samples are smart and never played out, and the production and rhymes
reveal a determined sense of cooperation, as Doom spouts off his most brilliant lyrical change ups
and production conscious playoffs (Pemberton). Like stated in Pitchfork, the production works
cohesively with MF Doom s rapping. For example, on the song Meat Grinder , the beat alone
seems quirky, sounding like it belongs in an episode of Spongebob,

Dr. Charles Smith is certainly making it clear that, the penalties are far from just. Dr. Smith was

Toronto and conducted more than 1000 autopsies. Dr. Charles Smith conducted the autopsyon

In Brenda Waudby s case, her 21 month old daughter was left care of a baby sitter aged 14. That

the injuries occurred when the child was not under Mrs. Waudby s care. Five years following, the

Pichot...Henri and his brother and sister...and ran the house; my aunt washed and ironed... (18) yet
after all of those years Grant has never been further than the home s kitchen. We especially see
Grant mistreated at the Pichot house when he goes to speak with Mr. Pichout about Jefferson.
Grant tells his Tante Lou and Miss Emma about the visit saying, The humiliation I had to go
through, going into that man s kitchen. The hours I had to wait while they ate and drank and
socialized before they would even see me (79). The disrespect and humiliation endured by Grant
Wiggins in Henri Pichot home emphasizes the central theme of racism as the white plantation
owner attempts to keep the black man from gaining any power or even equality. Finally, Gaines

The Effect Of Temperature And Ph Levels On Enzyme Activity

How Do Changes in Temperature and pH Levels Affect Enzyme Activity? Lab Report
In biology class, we ve learned that sugars produce energy and to use sugars to gain energy, an
organism needs a proper enzyme should exist to break it down the chemical bonds of the sugar.
Enzymes and proteins are important in organisms because they are involved in most chemical
reactions that take place inside of an organism. Our example of an important enzyme was catalase,
which breaks down H2O2. H2O2 is a natural by product and toxic. When H2O2 contacts catalase,
it breaks down into water and oxygen. Our group got curious about how changes in temperature and
pH levels affect enzyme activity. Since enzymes are group of protein and protein can break easily
by acid, base, and hot temperature. To experiment our question, we used catalase solution, 3%
H2O2 solution, 0.1 M HCl solution, 0.1 M NaOH solution, a beaker, an O2 gas sensor, sensor
interface on a Chromebook, pH paper, and safety gloves. Therefore, we conducted experiments to
test how enzyme activity in different conditions. Plus, we predicted that if temperature increases
or enzyme have contacts with acid or base, enzyme activity will decrease. We held four controlled
experiments which are controller, temperature, HCl Acid, and NaOH Base. We controlled the
amount of catalase to 10 mL and H2O2 solution to 4 mL. First we mixed catalase with H2O2
solution and used O2 sensor to gather

Reflection Paper On Self-Evaluation
Self evaluation builds on a natural tendency to check out the progress of one s own learning and
to improve. Being a foreign medical graduate, and a stay at home mom for the last 17 years, I
felt nervous around my colleagues who are professionals and experts in their fields due to years
of experience that I felt I did not yet have. This paper discusses peer feedback and self assessment
based on multiple negotiation exercises performed by me during the on campus visit of summer,
2017. For example, I have realized that it is essential to not only know my opponent, but to also
know myself. This opportunity of self reflection has allowed me to recognize beneficial methods of
conduct for various negations occurring under various conditions such... Show more content on

It allowed me to think of a solution that was agreeable to most of my team members and helped
us from getting sued in the Brookside Community Hospital Negotiation exercise. I approach
most of my conversations in this manner with my family at home which helps me in
understanding the other person and my duty and goals that I need to accomplish.
Trustworthiness is a good strategy that my colleagues picked in me and I am proud of it. This
is because I am a good listener and my team felt that their concerns are being heard which
allowed them to believe in my proposals. This strategy helped me in my role as Brook the Chief
Legal Counsel, SWE, Sales Manager, and Lennon in negotiation exercises Fastkin, New Media

at the whole picture as my strength to which I agree. I was able to expand the pie rather than
divide the pie and get to a yes that changed the win lose game to a win win scenario where both
sides can benefit can benefit more by working on mutual benefits and try to stay away from false
conflicts or illusory effects. I think that zero sum is a negative perception and it is often possible
for people to gain, especially if they collaborate. I often use this technique at home with my
children and spouse. If a negotiation turns to a conflict and becomes personal, the sense of fair
play (or even getting what I need) then goes out of the window. I had a strong BATNA, taking

Child Neglect Book Report
What impact on children when parents have neglected? This book is the autobiography of the
author Jeannette has been living in forced poor life through parents neglect. I think that the parents
of this family were neglect. Neglect is one of ill treatment, so I consider about the reason and
influence from three sides (the side in healthy growth of mental and body, educational side and
social side).
The first side is influence the healthy growth of the mind and body. However father chasing big
dreams he was drinker, and even if he found a job, he didn t long on the job. Mother s dream was to
become a famous painter in the artistic type, daily draw and write. Without too much housework,
she thought children should be independent and became like the neglect of children. Mother had a

Jeannette didn t blame although the parents forced the poor hard life, and especially she had

children as parents. Pampering isn t good for children, but the neglect is inhibits from the healthy
development of the children. They weren t given meals from parents. Their home was trailer
house, station house,or house with collapsed floor. The toilet was not, mother put a plastic bucket
as a toilet, and slept on cardboard. That circumstance is bad for their health, because there are
possible that they are ill. I think it is important to settle and find a job earn a stable income. The
children except Maureen grew up healthy. But I can t imagine however Maureen is not growing
healthy now. Also, father spent on drinks all money of a piggy bank earned by children. I think

Eustache Dauger s Life In Prison
The Man in the Iron Mask is surrounded by many theories concerning who he is and why he was
placed in prison. Many also question why The Man in the Iron Mask was placed into a life in
prison with maximum protection and why he wasn t allowed to talk or move without being
supervised. The Man in the Iron Mask is Eustache Dauger, King Louis XIV of France s brother.
The man in the iron mask was the twin brother of King Louis XIV due to the fact that siblings
/twins were seen as a major threat to central power at the time of King Louis XIV s reign

Words Against Tyrants
Words against Tyrants: A Defense of Literature Silence is golden; yet with the controlling nature of
censorship and the ignorance that comes with it, this simple saying falls short. This tyranny relates
to the ideas presented in Salman Rushdie s Haroun and the Sea of Stories, Robert Fulford s article
The heritage of storytelling , and the theory of archetypes outlined by Carl Jung. These texts
demonstrate the importance of stories by analyzing the role of narratives or by presenting
literature s struggle as a story. It is necessary to defend literature against tyranny because it is a
responsible for the operation of society, is a biological imperative, and provides a reason for being.

This is highly evident in the work of psychologist Carl Jung, who developed the theory of
archetypes. The fundamental quality of the archetype, as Jung conceived it, is that it is
primordial, a preconscious, instinctual expression of man s basic nature [...] The archetype is
universal; it is generated by man s psyche regardless of time or place ( Archetypal Criticism 46).
Jung s archetypes (repeating emblems in stories) are based on the biological instinct of human
beings. He attributes an important and universal part of literature to an expression of innate needs
wired into the minds of all. The patterns of storytelling entails that it is a necessary portrayal of

Life Events And Stress, Stressors And Frustration
Boot Camp Days Finally, it has come, the final paper! Although I will miss all the great things
we learn about in class every week, I will not miss having to think of information to type in these
papers. This week the topics I have chosen to discuss are; life events and stress, stressors and
frustration. The best way I can relate to these topics is by talking about my personal experiences
at Navy Boot Camp. The worst eight and a half weeks of my life.
The Good Beginning
My journey began, I was leaving the Tampa airport and heading to Chicago, destination Great
Lakes, to become a sailor. At the airport, I was full of many different thoughts and emotions, being
excited, but scared of what was to come.
Arriving at the Chicago O Hare airport we were met by a group of Petty Officers who were a lot
nicer than I thought they would be. Before we left the airport, we had to throw out anything we
were not supposed to have, lip balm, lotions, soaps, we couldn t even keep our toothbrushes. That
was fine, at least I wasn t getting yelled at. Then we loaded up onto a bus and headed to the base.
The Start of the Worst Arriving on base, we pulled up to a building and quickly loaded off the
bus and filed in one by one. There were three different people all yelling different directions.
Sadly, the Petty Officers who picked us up from the airport, were not Recruit Division
Commanders (RDC). My hope of everything continuing to go well was shot down very quickly.
Just being there five

Personal Interest Project Idea
Though the investigations of my PIP, I have learnt an incredible amount of new information. In
the beginning my idea about FGM was generalised, and totally different to my understanding of
FGM now, as it has grown extensively. The purpose of my Personal Interest Project was to
investigate whether my hypothesis was true, if FGM was and still is done today as a means of
control by men over women. I wanted to investigate everything I possibly could for this topic to
receive a greater knowledge and understanding of FGM, and why it continues to be such a strong
cultural practice, and rite of passage for women and girls. Predominantly it was my personal
upbringing that triggered my interest in equality among societies, leading me to this topic.

Comparing The Signalman by Dickens and The Withered Arm by...
Comparing The Signalman by Dickens and The Withered Arm by Hardy The Signalman and The
Withered Arm , are two short stories showing supernatural events. Authors, Dickens, and Hardy
intrigue readers by using certain techniques. These techniques add suspense and mystery to the
story, which makes the reader, want to read further on. The openings in both narratives begin with a
short dialogue. The dialogue in The Signalman begins with the narrator talking to the Signalman:
Halloa! Below there! This throws the readers into action and engages them into the story. It
introduces them to the characters. The setting of the place is one of an eerie atmosphere. It hints
that something unnatural and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the introduction to the story, there is also a brief description of the setting. This creates
a sense of direction, as we know the atmosphere of the narrative. Hardy creates ambiguity by
leaving unresolved questions in chapter one. Some of these questions are, who is farmer Lodge
s wife, and why Rhoda Brooks is thin and fading when she is not very old. We as readers, want to
find out the situation to why she is isolated from other employees and why there is no contact
between Farmer Lodge and Rhoda and her son. The author of The Withered Arm creates
unresolved questions at the beginning of the plot because he wants to leave readers guessing future
plots. Unresolved questions in the story make the reader more involved as they too can speculate
what events will occur. The author uses this technique effectively as suspense is added to the story.
We are shown dramatic and unpredictable events. This causes tension and adds to the excitement
that occurs when it is read. The openings of the two short stories are very similar to each other.
Both authors write the introductions expressively to catch the reader s eye. The techniques used
make it more intriguing for us to read. The similar techniques applied to the beginning of the story
are adding dialogue, introduction to the main characters and a short but concise description of the

However, they still strongly argue whether the Section 203D is mandatory or not. Moreover, they
questioned the existence of Section 203E since it eliminates flexibility for companies to make

Weakeness In WWE, World Wrestling Entertainment
One of the most watched and beloved entertainment series in the United States is WWE/WWF s
television shows. WWE, World Wrestling Entertainment, is the world s largest and most popular
sports entertainment shows helping increase the popularity of similar shows by different
companies in Japan and Mexico as well. One of the main draws to the WWE is the spectacle of
giant men throwing each other or lithe men flipping off of elastic ropes and tackling the opponent
all the while showboating to the audience with taunts. Obviously, whenever an activity has
physical contact there s an element of danger, this danger is amplified due to the showiness of
WWE. One of the major debates around WWE is how fake the action is and if that detracts from...

(Gortsch, 2011) The best prevention of falls is to figure out what causes the falls, and to develop a

program.
The second phase of his prison time homemade education was debating other prisoners and clergy

skill by corresponding with his sister Hilda and later on with the nation of Islam leader Elijah

After transfer to Norfolk prison in Massachusetts in 1947, Malcolm converted to the religion of
Islam. He stopped drinking and smoking, and he preached the teaching of Elijah muhamed to other
prisoners.
After the release from prison in 1952, he began preaching the NOI message on the street corner.
Malcolm was assigned minister in the NOI by Elijah Muhammad and assigned his own mosque in
Detroit, which he built into the largest in the nation. 3 His effectiveness as a preacher made him the
spokesperson for NOI which membership in the organization grew from 400 to 10,000 people. With

Atlantic Walrus
Synonyms: Aivik (Inuktitut), Morzh (Russian), Rostungur (Icelandic), Valross (Swedish)
Family: Odobenidae Atlantic Walrus
Description
The Atlantic Walrus can be best described as a very large seal with 2 large tusks. No other marine
mammal has these two characteristics (Burt,1952). The most distinguishing trait of the Walrus are
their long tusks that are actually enlarged, upper canine teeth that continue to grow throughout the

Figure 2. Atlantic Walrus male (left) and female (right) (Arkive.org, 2017). Figure 3. A closer view
of the vibrissae of the Atlantic Walrus (Arkive.org, 2017).
Distribution
The Pacific Walrus, Odobenus rosmarus divergens, make up 90% of the world s population of
walruses while the Atlantic Walrus, Odobenus rosmarus rosmarus, and the Laptev Walrus,
Odobenus rosmarus laptevi, make up about 10% combined (Jay, 2008). The estimated population
of Odobenus rosmarus rosmarus is 10,000 19,000 (Jefferson, 2008). Walruses inhabit the relatively
shallow waters along the coast in the North Atlantic, the Bering Sea and the Artic Ocean near North
America and Eurasia (Figure 4) (Reeves, 2002). No walruses are not found in North Carolina.
Figure 4. The areas shaded in blue represent the global range of the Atlantic Walrus, Odobenus
rosmarus (WWF, 2017).
Habitat
Odobenus rosmarus rosmarus inhabits artic waters. They usually are seen on islands in the artic
and on floating sheets of ice called ice floes. They are also usually found and seen in groups
called herds (Burt, 1952). Atlantic walrus need large open bodies of water that are shallow, less
than 80m, because those areas are usually rich in clams and invertebrates for them to eat. Walrus
also need ice or land nearby so they can haul out of the water. In the summer and fall when the ice
is scarce, they will haul out in large groups near low rocky shores (DFO, 2017).

Spradley, I can the journey that Lynn s parents had to take to get her help. This book was excellent I really liked the way that they described the ways that they tried to help Lynn to understand the world around her. In this book, I also saw how a mother and father will do anything for their child so that they can understand all that is around them. This book, is also a great asset to any family that might be unexpectedly thrown into a situation that they do not expect such as a deaf child. The author Thomas S. Spadley is Lynn s father. Lynn started school with a teacher named Ms. Taylor that began to teach the children so that they could recognize what they needed to be successful later on in their schooling. Dr. Barrington, a psychologist, taught a class to the parents of deaf children on how to read to them so that they understand. (175) this is where the Spradleys learned that the more they read to Lynn the better she would understand them and be able to lip read what they were saying. Lynn also went to the Starr school that they wanted to keep as an Oral school, so she had to learn to speak. (207) When going to a PTA Meeting for the school, this is when Louise and Tom saw a deaf couple signing to each other. This is when they met with Bill and Kim that taught them that Lynn could learn to sign and that it would be a good thing for them to learn also. In the first week Lynn could sign thirteen words that she had already knew and just did not have anything to go along with the word. • 4. Themes in The Invisible Man by H.G Wells The Invisible Man has many possible themes. There are multiple examples of different themes in the novel. Most of them can almost fall under the same idea. The main theme for the novel is how excessive greed can have unintended consequences. The main character, Griffin, goes mad with the power of being invisible. It gets to the point that he is not even trying to just stay hidden anymore, he is just trying to cause as much mayhem in the country as possible. One of the first instances of greed is when he starts to take advantage of Mrs. Hall, the woman who owns the Coach Horses Inn. Mrs. Hall mainly feels bad for him at first because she thinks he is very hurt or injured in some sort of way due to him wrapping his head up. Griffin keeps... Some of the greatest minds are true fundamental to my statement such as Socrates the Greek philosopher and the main source of Western thought; The English physicist and mathematician Isaac Newton, most famous for his law of gravitation, was instrumental in the scientific revolution of the 17th century; Italian scientist and scholar Galileo made pioneering observations that laid the foundation for modern physicsand astronomy and ; Albert Einstein was a German born physicist who developed the general theory of relativity, among other feats. He is considered the most influential physicist of the 20th century. These scientists are the inspiration to my philosophy. Lantana and Snow Falling on Cedars Lantana and Snow Falling on Cedars present a variety of relationships that explore the restrictions of characters in a culturally limiting society, and ones with intertwining emotions and secrets that contain a darker reality. The crucial type of relationship in both texts is the forbidden connections that are abundant with unrealistic expectations, developed through characterisation as the plot progresses. The texts also display the relationships that have become dysfunctional after significant events, detailing the long term effects on the characters through dialogue. The two texts provide elaborate explanations on these relationships, while exploring the reactions of the characters and their position in the relationship. Both texts incorporate characterisation to portray the character s position in the relationship and the outcome of their association. The unrealistic love between a young Ishmael and Hatsue, as well as the temporary connection between Jane and Leon represent the forbidden relationships in the novel and film. Ishmael is portrayed as a character with the belief that love conquers all, which is depicted through his declaration that If we love each other we re safe from it all. • 7. The Copper Sun Character Analysis People talk about change as if it is a bad thing. Change can often be a good thing, especially when it comes to people. In the book The Copper Sun Polly meets Amari and isn t exactly friendly with her. But through the duration of the book, Polly starts to care for Amari and even admits they re friends. This is a major transition from when we first meet her. Polly emotionally and psychologically evolved from an emotionally closed, racist, aloof character to a friendly protagonist who starts to appreciate and care for Amari, by not doubting her, befriending her, and her self realization of her friendship and of the delicate idea of freedom. By the end of the novel, Polly stopped doubting Amari s skill as a person, something she did before. On page 193, Polly says She glanced at Amari, a girl who just a few months ago had seemed so dirty and disgusting. Now they were caught up together in a situation... (Draper, 193). Also, on page 94, Polly says Either I m a very good teacher, or you re not as stupid as you look (Draper, 94). For the first quote, Polly is fully aware that she thought of Amari as Dirty and Disgusting , but she is able to look past her previous thoughts and doubts about her work together with her in the situation . The second quote is very early into the novel, but very strongly shows her change. Polly, in a sense, admits she doubts Amari s intelligence. But Polly very quickly takes back the doubt, not without complimenting herself. After Polly quits ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The art of caricature was established into print in eighteenth century England as a form of commentary on the current events of the time. Caricature as a style itself is a combination of two separate social inventions. Though born in England, the story about to be told in this paper is one of Spanish origin, a story about Francisco Goya. This paper will discuss how Goya implemented painting, drawing, and printing technique to stimulate social critique of and satirize the subjects of his works. Then how does Goya s methodology transcend into modern caricature and social critique? Before one can talk about his prints, one must understand who Francisco Goya is as an artist. Goya was a Spanish romantic painter and printmaker of late 18th and early 19th centuries and throughout his long career was an important commentator and chronicler of his era. Goya produced a great number of works in a variety of media in his lifetime. The condition was originally thought to be caused by asphyxia and trauma during pregnancy; however, through extensive research many divisions of cerebral palsy emerged. Such categories include spastic, athetoid, and ataxic cerebral palsy. Today over half a percent of the worlds population is subject to this condition of the brain. Two to four out of a thousand are affected in the industrialized United States; however, with the introduction of new preventive measures the numbers of cerebral palsy victims born each year are expected to decline. (Britannica.com, Cerebral Palsy, page 1) Cerebral palsy is a general name for an extensive set of disorders caused by brain damage before or shortly after the first two years of birth. The three major forms include spastic, athetoid, and ataxic cerebral palsy. It is also not uncommon for victims to suffer from mixed type cerebral palsy that has variations of two or more of the other classifications. (Grolier Encyclopedia, Cerebral Palsy, pages 1 2) Of the individuals with cerebral palsy six out of the ten will have the spastic form. Symptoms include noticeably reduced movement caused by stiff or permanently contracted muscles. Spastic cerebral palsy results from damaged nerve fibers that carry impulses for voluntary motor control. Another form of cerebral palsy that accounts for about two in ten of all the cases is the athetoid type. Symptoms include uncontrolled movements due to damage to brain nerve fibers responsible for inhibition of muscle movements. Finally, the ataxic type of cerebral palsy, which accounts for only one in a hundred cases is associated with difficulty in coordination while walking and other limb movements. This is caused by injury to the cerebellum, the area of the brain responsible for skeletal muscle control and balance. (James Blackman, Cerebral Palsy, page 2) Since ... • 19. The Negative Effects Of Coal Mining Coal mining has generated, over the last century a series of negative impacts on our environment such as coal mining accidents, land sinkage, damage to the water environment mining waste disposal and air pollution. Although much of the damage is done to the environment it also affects us humans too in such a way. However nothing has been done to help this complication to stop this catastrophic activity to stop our planet from diminishing away. How does is affect people? Mining is the first step in the dirty life cycle of coal. When coal mines move in, whole communities are forced of their land/providence due to expanding mines, which contribute massively to coal fires, subsidence, and overused and contaminated water supplies, due to the poisonous fumes and deadly minerals/chemicals. manufactured from the coal mines. Although coal mines are quick to shut down and go away due to coal shortage they leave a path of destruction behind them like acid mine drainage which can persist and spread to other lands such as crops for decades which would also affect farmers near by by killing all their crops and affecting other land owners by spreading the air with this dangerous and poisonous substance. Which would not enable the previous land owners to come and live again due to the eradication the coal mine has left behind it. Noting coal miners would have also been affected due to the poisonous gas surrounding all around their working environment which would have made some very sick and some even losing their live due to the amount of gas they transferred into their body. Where is the conflict occurring? Coal mining is a huge industry and it happens almost everywhere in the world. I believe that there is one biblical or Christian worldview. This could be referred to as the basic Christian worldview. It reflects the basic principles of Christianity. Dr. Henderson gives a brief explanation of authentic and holistic Christianityin his presentation. I agree with what Dr. Henderson said, authentic Christianity is Christ centered and biblically based .[1] My Christian worldview should be characterized, by who I am in Christ and what I know to be biblical. Romans 12:2 says, And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. [2] I want God to shape my worldview, rather than have it shaped by this world. Dr. Henderson said, A worldview contains a person s answers to the most important questions in life. [3] Christians are given the answers to those questions through the Word of God. We believe that the Word of God is authoritative. Dr. Henderson said, The Bible is the Word of God, as Scripture, as what has been written down, as the Holy Spirit enabled and guided holy people to write it. [4] As a Christian, I should seek to apply the Word of God to every aspect of my life. A person s worldview, whether it is Christian or non Christian, is often influenced by their experiences. • 36. The Heart Reserves A Special Place For Music The heart reserves a special place for music. To many, music is more than a melody or a combination of sounds pulsating in ears; it brings out emotions, memories, and shared vibes. Whether a person is an avid listener or casually listens to music, everyone has a few specific albums that laid a foundation for the music they currently enjoy. Recently, I have rediscovered one of these albums, Madvillainy, when putting my old playlist on shuffle. The album consists of Daniel Dumile, the album s MC (rapper) who goes by many aliases, but most commonly as MF Doom, and Otis Jackson Jr., or Madlib. The underground hip hop album was released in 2004 and is now considered a classic by many. The album s 22 tracks consist of skits, instrumentals, and rapping with most tracks around two minutes long. Madvillainy has proven to me to be a masterpiece and a consistently good listen. One of the qualities that set Madvillainy apart from its peers, is the superb production performance given by Madlib. The album s production is magnificent, even to Pitchfork standards, saying, the samples are smart and never played out, and the production and rhymes reveal a determined sense of cooperation, as Doom spouts off his most brilliant lyrical change ups and production conscious playoffs (Pemberton). Like stated in Pitchfork, the production works cohesively with MF Doom s rapping. For example, on the song Meat Grinder , the beat alone seems quirky, sounding like it belongs in an episode of Spongebob, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 40. The Effect Of Temperature And Ph Levels On Enzyme Activity Joshua Kwon Sep 19, 15 Biology p 4 How Do Changes in Temperature and pH Levels Affect Enzyme Activity? Lab Report In biology class, we ve learned that sugars produce energy and to use sugars to gain energy, an organism needs a proper enzyme should exist to break it down the chemical bonds of the sugar. Enzymes and proteins are important in organisms because they are involved in most chemical reactions that take place inside of an organism. Our example of an important enzyme was catalase, which breaks down H2O2. H2O2 is a natural by product and toxic. When H2O2 contacts catalase, it breaks down into water and oxygen. Our group got curious about how changes in temperature and pH levels affect enzyme activity. Since enzymes are group of protein and protein can break easily by acid, base, and hot temperature. To experiment our question, we used catalase solution, 3% H2O2 solution, 0.1 M HCl solution, 0.1 M NaOH solution, a beaker, an O2 gas sensor, sensor interface on a Chromebook, pH paper, and safety gloves. Therefore, we conducted experiments to test how enzyme activity in different conditions. Plus, we predicted that if temperature increases or enzyme have contacts with acid or base, enzyme activity will decrease. We held four controlled experiments which are controller, temperature, HCl Acid, and NaOH Base. We controlled the amount of catalase to 10 mL and H2O2 solution to 4 mL. First we mixed catalase with H2O2 solution and used O2 sensor to gather ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
