The Roles Of The Greek And Roman Gods
Have you ever wondered why an entire empire would worship mythical beings? To a degree, the
Greek and Roman mythological heroes are just the first superheroes. They appeal to children for
much the same reason. These gods and heroes may have powers, but they get angry and they do the
wrong thing. They are human too. The Roman gods had many different jobs and abilities during
the Roman Empire. Rome had lots of gods, but their major gods were worshipped the most
because of their power. They were patrons of different things that they specialized in. People
would pray, and offer sacrifices to their patrons to help them (Major Roman Gods, 2017). The
Romans sacrificed to the gods for lots of different things, not just patrons. They brought treasures
to military gods after each battle for thanks in their victory (Major Roman Gods, 2017). They also
sacrificed to the gods before important events so the gods would guide them through it. The
important Roman gods were worshipped for their power and the assistance they could give to
people that presented acceptable tributes. Jupiterwas worshipped because he was the king of the
gods, and he controlled the sky. Jupiter could strike people down with lightning bolts. It was
said that any who did evil would be punished by him. Jupiter was made a part of the First and
Second Triads of Rome (Wasson, 2017). The Romans made him a part of both triads so he would
watch over them just as the other two gods that were a part of it did. Romans

Roman Banquets
Many banquets were held all throughout Rome and Greece, and they served as many private and
public functions. They were either given by the state, or by the officials. They usually had civic,
religious, or political purposes, and these banquets allowed the upper class to exchange different
ideas along with display their own wealth. The Greek banquets were sponsored by various
organizations to which their citizens belonged: philosophical societies, religious groups, and
community organizations. The banquets were held time to time for special occasions and holidays.
These banquets helped unify the organizations, and they also reinforced the social order by
reminding each man the place he takes in the large community. Governments occasionally... Show

Often, wealthy individuals gave banquets for anyone who attended or participated in the funeral
of a relative who had died. This practice began as a way of honoring the memory of the deceased.
Over time, the wealthy Romans started to serve banquets, in order to gain favor of others.
Generals, politicians seeking office, and others eager to win popular support also adopted the
custom of giving public banquets. In 27 B.C.E., the emperor Augustus banned public banquets,
except those given by himself. He hoped, in this way, to keep others from winning the affection
and support of the Roman populace. Like the Greeks, the Romans reclined on couches while
banqueting. Although, in the Roman context, respectable women were permitted to join men in
reclining. The females that attended were restricted to entertain, unlike the Greek women. A
dining room typically held three broad couches, each couch seating three individuals, thus
allowing for a total of nine guests. This type of room is commonly described as a triclinium,
meaning a three couch room. The couches weee usually made of wood, but they were sometimes
made of gold and ivory. In a triclinium, the couches were arranged along three walls of the room
in a U shape. At the center of the room, there was a single table that was accessible to all of the
diners. A proper Roman dinner included three courses: the hors d oeuvres (gustatio), the main
course (mensae primae), and the dessert (mensae

Dakota Pipeline Case Study
Dakota Pipeline Issue Since July of 2016, there has been an extensive amount of tension between
protesters and law enforcement over an oil pipeline near the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation.
The Dakota access pipeline is a 3.7 billion investment project that would carry 470,000 barrels of
oil a day from the oil fields of western North Dakotato Patoka, Illinois. The Dakota access pipeline
is a stirring issue and is causing thousands protesters to camp out in rural North Dakota to protest
for what they believe. The Dakota access pipeline is to be built by Texas energy transfer partners
to move a massive amount of crude oil a day. This pipeline is 1,172 miles long, thirty inches in
diameter. It will connect the expanding Bakken and Three Folks Production areas in North
Dakota to Illinois. The pipeline will allow domestically produced oil from North Dakota to reach
larger markets in a more direct, safer, and cost effective manner. The issue with the pipeline is it

is the east bank of the Missouri river to the Nebraska line. The Native Americans that are apart of

The uproar from the protesters started in July when the engineers asked for a permit to build the
pipeline to cross under the missouri river at Lake Oahe. The native americans have began
protesting for a number of reasons. The first is that the tribe get their water from the Missouri
River and any oil spills could put their drinking water at risk. The start of the construction has
begun digging up the Sioux sacred burial sites. I feel the pipeline should not cross under because it
would be going against the Treaty of Fort Laramie and because that is the native americans sacred

Atypical Antipsychotics
Atypical Antipsychotics are most often used. These second generation medications are preferred
due to the fact that they have a lower risk of serious side effect which can better treat this mental
illness. These medications include: Aripiprazole (Abilify), Asenapine (Saphris), Clozapine
(Clozaril), Iloperidone (Fanapt), Lurasidone (Latuda), Olanzapine (Zyprexa), Paliperidone (Invega),
Quetiapine (Seroquel), Risperidone (Risperdal), and finally Ziprasidone (Geodon). Many of the

Education And The Education System
Today, along with integration with the world on all aspects about education so the education
system in my country also has many programs to help students easier gain access to the education
of the world including the US. We know that English very important for students when they want to
study in US so my educationsystem has built an environment convenient for students such as
English center, website, a program teach about English for students when they are at school, and
STEAM system for students to study.
First of all, in my country, the students have studied the lessons and special program before they
come to the US. So, they have English classes to be able to get in US. Moreover, in my country,
the students just have three years of High School, but then, they have two years of studying about
English for students who want to go abroad to continue studying College. Almost students have
completed four years of high school studies in order to qualify for admission to a College in US.
Also, in my country, at school, there are a lot of tests of English as a Foreign Language would
help to establish the ability to succeed in an American college. Because the English program is
worthy as a requirement for entrance into US. For this reason, in my country there are English
language schools or centers to help improve English language ability in English for students. Today,
the School of English or English center opened in my country very much. Furthermore, the program

Abstract
The Political Stream is made up of many different aspects public mood, pressure group campaigns,
election results, ideological distributions in Congress, and changes of administration. These
developments impact the agendas and what issues become more or less of a priority. In the
political stream, there are usually a change which is caused by the shifts of important participants in
the system. The changes have an impacts on policy agendas and the outcome. The antigovernment
mood is the changes in the national public. The national mood plays a vital role it can create the
fertile ground for a policy s promotion or, on the other hand, it can slow a policy down.

Ideas are very rarely traced to the creative thought process of a single individual or group. The
President and Congress members can offer items for the agenda also, the White House staff,
executive branch career personnel, congressional staff, the media, lobbyists, organizations, and
the public, can supply other agenda items to be reviewed. The agenda is a list problem that are
being paid attention by governmental officials ( Jansson, 2014). Policy entrepreneurs are people
who advocate for proposals. Individuals invest their resource and time, in hope of changing the
future. Many business people advocate to promote their personal interests, solve problems, and
shape public policy according to a paticular values. In today s society tough economic times,
greater competition exists among advocacy organizations for fiscal support ( Edwards , 2010). In
some aspect, people just love the game of politics. Available alternatives play an important role
because, before a subject can achieve a position on a decision agenda, a viable alternative is
available for decision makers to consider. Public policy choices come from substitutes placed on the

Learning Online And Traditional Classroom Setting
During my educational journey I have experienced learning online and in a traditional classroom
setting. Working in a classroom allowed me to receive a more hands on approach with my
learning from my instructor. Learning in person helped me to seek help if I was confused, ask
questions, and receive a response immediately. Upon completing my work assignments, I was
able to work side by side with my classmates and collaborate, and work as a team. Most
importantly, everything is at your fingertips such as your class material and a physical textbook. In
addition, in a classroom setting you are able to take quizzes and tests that will help you retain the
information by answering the questions.
However, learning online is totally a different ball game. When learning online most of the time
there is no test or quizzes involved, you work at your own pace, and the only material you will
need is your computer. Working at your own pace helps because, it allows you to work ahead
and complete your assignments according to your own schedule and not having to wait on your
instructor. A great advantage to learning online is, not having to travel to a physical classroom.
Your work is available at any time of the day. Everything I needed was in my computer so I didn t
have to keep up with any material or purchase any. However, learning online, helps you to focus
more with fewer distractions around you, but leaves you limitless to help when you need it.

No Name Woman Maxine Hong Kingston, in her book No Name Woman states that on the day of

only the suicide, but also the existence of the sister in law. Her mom said that her husband, father,
and brother in law left to seek fortune in California, The Gold Mountain. The majority of men in the
village sought money elsewhere because the village crops were suffering. While the men journey

In the movie, the male actor is married and appears as a pervert who eyes the girl and waits for

pregnant and the wife demanding the husband to fire the girl. Many Chinese soap operas are long
stories ranging from 1 to 20 episodes. The story line always incorporates a woman getting raped and
taking advantage of her innocence. For example, in the movie called Heaven and Earth directed
by Oliver Stone in 1994, the character Le Ly leaves her farming village with her mother for
Saigon. Fleeing the violence of the Viet Cong after disgracing herself by becoming pregnant with

A Global Language English Language
In the article (A Global Language English Language Essay) the author explained what a global
language, and what makes a certain language to be a global language. The author believes that
English is a global language. There are many factors that coincide with the author s opinion. The
author had a lot of points that proved that English truly is a global language. The author
demonstrated his facts with a cohesive argument, using logos and ethos, however due to this being
a more research based article, there is little to no pathos. In the following paragraphs I will analyze
the article and show what kind of rhetorical appeals the author used to further prove his argument.
A global language is a language that is spoken universally throughout many countries. A language
is considered to be a global language when it is learned by a plethora of people. The most popular
one being English. A wide range of English vocabulary was taken from other European countries.
Famous linguist David Crystal argues that languages have a strong relation between dominance
and cultural power. The main reason that the languages exist is because of a strong power base,
political and military or economic. (A Global Language, 2016). The author uses logos to persuade
the reader through historical facts and by quoting famous linguists. He is explaining that the reason
for the English language being so prominent throughout the world is due its dominance worldwide,
this will be explained in greater detail in

them to a movement that was not deeply flawed, and full of misinformation. It proved that one s
online presence has an impact on the world, and in some cases one s online presence may be

Kierkegaard And Nietzsche And Existentialism
Existentialism can be defined as a branch of philosophy that emphasizes individual existence,
freedom, and choice. It focuses on the question of human existence and the feeling that there is no
purpose or explanation for existence. Although they never used the term existentialism in their
works, Soren Kierkegaard and Friedrich Nietzscheare considered two of the first and significant
philosophers to the existentialist movement. They focused on subjective human experience and
were interested in the struggle to escape boredom and find meaning in life. Kierkegaard and
Nietzsche also stressed the importance of making free choices and how these choices change the
identity of the individual. Both Kierkegaard and Nietzsche felt that life is... Show more content on

In this stage thoughtful and deliberate choice replaces the instant gratification of pleasure in the
first stage. In this stage man focuses of self reflection and chooses to create ethical values by
which he will live his life. Once man has reflected to the point of realizing that he is involved in
something more profound, he is faced with another either/or decision to stay at this stage or take a
leap of faith and live a Christian life.
Nietzsche shares a similar view of man. The important thing in man is his potential; man is
striving but for something different, Ubermensch or superman. It represents man constantly
striving to overcome himself and become a man whose values are independent from societal
conceptions of good and evil. Ubermensch must be willing and able to reject what he is now to
become something different and never become content with present values. Similar to
Kierkegaard, Nietzsche sees life as a series of stages that take man from the herd to Ubermensch.
The first step for man to achieve Ubermensch is to overcome a collective herd view of values
because they are not bridges to Ubermensch. Once this herd is overcome, man can begin to
concentrate on overcoming himself.
Both philosophers also agree that the individual is more important than the group. Kierkegaard says
that a crowd in its very concept is the untruth. The crowd can only hinder the individual by making
him irresponsible and hiding the

The unique feature of pharmaceutical industry is that the end user of the product is different from

Bna Thesis
BNA practice intro paragraph
The British North America Act (BNA) is known as The Act that created Canada. In this thesis
statement I will thoroughly explain the Manifest Destiny, and how colonists feared the United
States. In 1864 the BNA Act was drafted by the Quebec Conference on Canadian confederation.
Counter argument
The Manifest Destiny showed the hatred of the United States (US) for every other terrain that was
not their own. The US used the 19th century period of American Expansion that was destined to
stretch from coast to coast. The preowned way of the attitude prevalent fired up disasters, War with
Mexico broke out and harsh removal of the Native Americans. O Sullivan declared, Our manifest
destiny to overspread the continent allotted by Providence for the free development of our yearly
multiplying millions. This recitation guided many Republican supporters. Manifest destiny is an
extensively held faith mainly by the United States that it was their own found destiny to expand and
own the territory of North America.

Black Dwarf Research Paper
Stars are born, grow old, and die, at rates that are related to their mass and any external pressures
acting on them, similar to the life cycle of all living things in the universe. The process in which
stars change dramatically throughout their existence is called stellar evolution and can take
millions to billions of years. Stellar evolution describes how stars transform over time, from birth,
through life, which includes growth, and ending in death. Fusion, the force that generates energy, is
balanced by the pull of gravity, resulting in the progression and development of the star.
Stars begin their life cycle as molecular clouds, or nebula. Some event, such as a shock wave or
collision of a galaxy, causes the cloud to collapse and form smaller pieces, which contract inward
and form a protostar. As the star... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once the helium in the core is exhausted, the star emits its outer layers into space, contracts down,
and emerges as a White Dwarf. Ultimately, the White Dwarf will lose all of its energy, collapse due
to gravity, and enter a Black Dwarf stage. No Black Dwarfs have been observed in our universe
because the time it takes for a White Dwarf to cool completely is likely to be trillions of years. A
Black Dwarf is simply an explanation for what would result following the death of a White Dwarf.
In larger stars, the core s temperature increases enough to burn carbon into neon. Burning and
contraction are repeated until iron is established in the core. The pressure of neutrons will
interrupt the collapse of the core, creating a neutron star. The sudden cease in the contraction of
the core allows some of the mass to flow inward. The core becomes heavier and can t tolerate it s
own gravitational force. This creates a shock wave blowing the outer layer of the star apart in a
core collapse supernova eruption. This explosion results in the distribution of elements throughout

The Pros And Cons Of The Fourteenth Amendment
The Fourteenth Amendment has, overall, been a great incorporation into the Constitution
through its equal protection clause, due process clause, and other specific feature such as the
ability to be show the presence of the separate but equal mindset invested amongst individuals in
the Court case of Plessy v. Ferguson, the implementation of said mindset in the decision of the
Brown v. The Board of Education Supreme Court case, the usage of the due process clause in
the 2000 presidential election between Republican George W. Bush and Democrat Al Gore, and
both equal protection clause and de process clause in the more recent case of obergefell v.

equal protection clause protecting Homer Plessy, enforcing a separate but equal mindset among
the people touched by this court case, and demonstrated the strength of the equal protection clause.
Homer Plessy In the 1892 incident, Plessy refused to sit in Jim Crow car (expression meaning

Supreme Court didn t believe his constitutional rights were violated. Their reason behind this is
that it was a state law that implies merely a legal distinction between whites and people of color. To
them, it did not violate the 13th or 14th amendment. This state law was Louisiana s, the law was

constitutional protections to all courts in every State. This is known as the nationalization of the
Bill of Rights. In these years, cases pertaining to the right to legal counsel, confessions, searches,
and the treatment of juvenile criminals all happen during. The Warren Court s modification in the
criminal justice system began with the case of Mapp v. Ohio, the first of several important cases in
which it reassess the role of the 14th Amendment as it applied to State judicial systems. Mapp v.
Ohio (1961) was a case in criminal procedures where as the United States Supreme Court came to
the conclusion that the evidence confiscated in the case of Dollree Mapp was in violation of the
Fourth Amendment; which protects her against unreasonable searches and seizures in the state of
Ohio. According to The Supreme Court case No. 367 U.S 643 (U.S 1961), Dollree Mapp resided

The Themes Of Nature In William Wordsworth s Poetry
The earth has its music for those who will listen said by George Santayana is apt for William
Wordsworth as most of his poems explore the wonders of nature. He is often called as a nature
writer and his love for nature is beyond measure. As a child, he spent most of his time in nature s
lap in Lake District, and thus was greatly affected by everything that happened in nature. Nature
enjoys a distinct and important status in his poetryand his poems are greatly influenced by what he
saw and felt about nature.
Just as nature has such a great impact on Wordsworth s poetry, the descriptions of nature in his
poems also impact the readers immensely. His poems on nature instil a feeling of joy a sense of
connection with the nature in the hearts of the readers. The imagery used by him while describing
the elements of nature enables the readers to visualize what is being talked about and also
appreciate the different shades of nature. His poetry teaches the readers to realise the significance
of nature in their lives and look at nature in a way they have never done before.

People often observe nature and are mesmerized by it, but they fail to appreciate and enjoy its
beauty to the fullest. This makes the readers ponder over whether they are actually enjoying and
looking at nature in the real sense. For oft when on my couch I lie, In vacant or in pensive mood...
And then my heart with pleasure fills, And dances with the daffodils (19 20, 23 24). The ending of
the poem brings a major learning and realisation to the readers. By reading these lines, the readers
realise that it is only nature that can fill their hearts with permanent pleasure and can make them

Egalitarianism And The French Revolution
Egalitarianism. It is the belief that all people are and should be the treated similarly despite age,
gender, race and social or political status. It is the trend of thought that all people are equal and
states that everyone should be handled with the same opportunities in life despite their differences.
It s a popular idea in liberalism: The political philosophyfounded on liberty and equality that
supports civil freedom and egalitarianisms basic idea is that everyone has the same fundamental
worth. A King can t be worth more than a peasant... In power and politics: yes but in terms of

And, while it may seem that egalitarianism is most prominent now in the 21st century, the
concept actually originated in France back in 1799 as its original format equalitarian . This
awareness was established through the French Revolution between 1789 and 1799 which
fashioned the doctrine that all humanity is equal. Egalitarianism was one distinct idea that
shaped the French Revolution as it went through its various phases of Liberty, equality, and
fraternity! : the revolutions three base concepts. The need for egalitarianism in France came
from the uneven and unfair regime between the aristocrats or second estate and the third estate.
The third estate consisted of around 27 million people or 98% of the French population. Most of
these people were peasants, living their lives as laborers, working on farms, yet they were
required to pay a large range of taxes this was seemingly unfair considering their tireless
occupation and hard lifestyle... Even the smaller percentage of the third estate those who were
urban workers and lived in cities such as Paris were poorly paid, lived in difficult conditions and

In the ninth century, Vikings began to raid Ireland, eventually conquering and settling on the
island. The strong Irish culture influenced the Viking conquerors way of life, rather than an
invader s long term domination would suggest. Anglo Norman invaders arrived in Ireland in
1169, attempting to colonize the island over the next 500 years. The invaders began to expand
their influence across the island by means of force. These attacks caused rebellions from the Irish
people, as they were no strangers to aggression from the East. Religious persecution of Catholic
Irish grew in particular after the accession of Elizabeth I, a Protestant, to the throne in 1558. Oliver
Cromwell s subsequent siege of Ireland in 1649 ended with massacres of Catholics at Drogheda and
Wexford and forced the resettlement of thousands, many of whom lost their homes in the struggle.
By 1691, with the victory of Protestant English King William III over the Catholic forces of James
II, Protestant supremacy in Ireland had become complete. Catholics in Ireland suffered greatly in
the subsequent period of British occupation, enduring laws that prevented them from bearing arms,
holding public office and restricting their rights to an education. While many of those rights were
eventually restored, the animosity between Catholics and Protestants remained. (Washington Post,
1999). A group of Irish

unpopular. Not so much in the sense that we were ever targets of significant harassment. We had
never been shoved into lockers, received undue beatdowns, or been subject to the disdain of the

made no acknowledgment of our existence, no slight nod, no half drunk attempt at a greeting.
Across the bar, a woman stood, topless, one hand gripping a stained pole, gyrating for a small
gathering of men, maybe ten, maybe eleven. The woman was beautiful, no older than twenty
five, but her eyes betrayed stark dispassion, each successive swirl around the pole deepening the
bags below her eyes. We sat, looking on with a mixture of pity and curiosity, cheap vodka
burning in the back of our throats, all knowing that we were thinking the same thing, but no one
said a word. We retired to our motel at 2:30 that night, the time at the club had all but
disappeared, gone in the trance of the woman s dancing. We slept late that morning, it was
almost noon when we awoke, groggy and hungover. The lobby served breakfast, bland and cold.
Each sip of the tepid, acidic coffee required more labor than it was worth, and we left unsatisfied.

collected with every step. The light of day was not kind to Reno, the vibrant lights that dotted the

Effects of Surfactants on Suppository Absorption Essay...
Suppositories are the frequently used dosage forms prescribed through rectal route. However,
suppositories have the limitation of prolonged onset of action which can be attributed to poor drug
release properties of suppository base. Surfactants can increase the drug release to aid absorption by
reducing the interfacial tension between rectal fluids and the suppositorybase. The objective of this
study was to examine the effect of different concentrations of sodium lauryl sulphate and tween 80
on the drug release of paracetamol from suppositories of palm kernel base (HAMINВ®). Sodium
lauryl sulphate (SLS) and tween 80 were used in this study to examine their effect on the drug

Drugs are incorporated into suitable suppository bases which may be fatty base or water soluble
base to form suppositories into suitable shape to be inserted into the rectum. [3] In the rectum, the
suppositories release their drug content by melting at body temperature or dissolving in rectal
mucous secretion to be diffused across the rectal epithelium into the mucosa that is abundantly
vascularised. [4] The drug can be absorbed through the middle and inferior rectal veins into
systemic circulation by passing the hepatic first pass metabolism, which gives the rectal route of
administration an extra advantage. Paracetamol is a well known drug for its analgesic and
antipyretic activity. It is available in oral, rectal and intravenous dosage form. The most common
route of administration is the oral route as paracetamol is being absorbed well through this route
with the bioavailability of 63 89%. [5] The absorption half life through oral route is 4.5 minutes
with no lag time. [6] The rectal form of paracetamol is mainly intended to be used in children as
they have difficulty in swallowing oral medication. The bioavailability of paracetamol
administered through rectal route is in the range of 24 98%, depending on the suppositories
physical composition with 35 minutes of mean absorption half life and 40 minutes of lag time. The
rectal absorption of paracetamol is poor compared to oral route. [7] Studies showed that there is a

Henry James’ Portrait of a Lady Essay
Henry James Portrait of a Lady
On her long journey from Rome her mind had been given up to vagueness; she was unable to
question the future. She performed this journey with sightless eyes and took little pleasure in the
countries she traversed, decked out though they were in the richest freshness of spring. Her
thoughts followed their course through other countries‹strange looking, dimly lighted, pathless
lands, in which there was no change of seasons, but only as it seemed, a perpetual dreariness of
winter. She had plenty to think about; but it was neither reflexion nor conscious purpose that filled
her mind. Disconnected visions passed through it, and sudden dull gleams of memory, of
expectation. The past and the future came and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The most fertile ground for her imagination is her own life: She was always planning out her
development, desiring her perfection, observing her progress. (It is interesting to note, here and
elsewhere in the novel, the way James often has Isabel treat herself in her own mind as an external,
abstract, almost objectified subject: James might well have written Е’her own developmentВ№ or
Е’her own perfectionВ№, but chose not to, leaving us with the subtle impression that she is
somehow disconnected from herself in her own mind.) Given these first descriptions of Isabel, it is
hard not to register the simple power of the statement that, she was unable to question the future
‹she, and by natural extension the reader, has been deprived of one of her liveliest faculties,
and James has ensured that we feel the immensity of this momentary loss.
Another thing to note in this passage is JamesВ№ metaphorical use of landscape. In the opening
chapters of the novel, we are told of Isabel: Her nature had, in her conceit, a certain garden like
quality, a suggestion of perfume and murmuring boughs, of shady bowers and lengthening vistas,
which made her feel that introspection was, after all, an exercise in the open air, and that a visit
to the recesses of oneВ№s spirit was harmless when one returned from it with a lapful of roses.

This project examines the construction of subjectivity in...
This project examines the construction of subjectivity in Eleanor Antin s Carving: A Traditional
Sculpture (fig. 1) and Chris Kraus Aliens and Anorexia (fig. 2) . These works inscribe notions of the
self, the social, and the subject through and upon the body, addressing the interpolating poles of
nutritive consumption and willing the body away through self starvation. Throughout this essay, I
will demonstrate how these artists engage with the spaces and discourses created around food and
disordered eating to produce a counter dominant take on subjectivity, a thematic both artists attend
to regularly throughout their careers.

Before attending to theoretical concerns I will first ground my reading in art historical methods,
explicating the position of these works within Antin and Kraus larger oeuvres and within the
historical contexts of their production. An analysis of form and medium also underlines a reading
of these works that privileges self and subjectivity. In Carving, A Traditional Sculpture and Aliens
and Anorexia, the live or temporal practices common throughout Antin and Kraus careers are
respectively mediated through photography and texts. By removing the material body from works
that are essentially performative, the artist looks back over herself, commenting on, while creating
her own lived subjectivity.
I chose to position these two works together because, as Clare Johnson states in her study of
Antin, Vanessa Beecroft, and Elizabeth Manchester, I want to discuss the artworks in terms that
do not presuppose a proper form of feminist art practice, or suggest that the contemporary work
supersedes the critical strategies of the earlier piece. Johnson s articulated aims are not to claim
any single artist or artwork as feminist, per se, but to create rich and complex readings that
articulate the inscriptions of feminist practice and reflect the relational web of mutually
constitutive meanings. This web frames a discussion of Kraus and Antin s work, allowing for a
critical co reading of works produced at different

Analysis Of The Movie August Morning
April Morning is a story that describes the process of change in a time when Americans nation
was developing. Due to its importance, Hollywood decided to make the movie based off of it
with same name and theme. The story takes place during the Battle of Lexington on April 19,
1775. Adam Cooper is just 15 years old and lives in Lexington. Adam s decision to sign the muster
book for the militia is one of the key turning points of his sudden change from childhood into
adulthood. Movie has exaggerated some scenes due to dramatic purpose. The movie is more
focused on the summery of the novel. It does have it s own similarities and differences. The
characters were changed and taken off from the movie. I would recommend people to watch the
movie and read the novel. Movie has its more emotional side than the novel. Simultaneously, novel
has more details compared to the movie. Both, the movie and novel were able to depict a great tale
of a child who fought for his country and became a man. Both make us realize how important this
battle was to our history and culture.
First of all, Characters were manipulated by a big margin in the movie. Granny s relation with
Adam was very unlike in movie than the novel. In the movie Granny s role was very silent and
haven t show any significant support towards Adam. On the other hand, Granny was the only
family member that was very close to Adam by any means in the novel. I can t see what s to
disagree with when you have hardly begun (P.21).

The Fossil Of Fossil Fuels
Fossil fuels are formed from decayed prehistoric plants and animals that lived millions of years
ago (Science Daily). According to the United States Department of Energy, when ancient living
plants and animals died, they decomposed and became buried under layers of mud, rock, and
sand. After millions of years, these plants and animals slowly decomposed into organic material.
Depending on what combination of plant and/or animal debris was decomposed, different types of
fossil fuels were formed. These fossil fuels are then converted into coal, oil, and natural gas(United
States Department of Energy). With this in mind, fossil fuels take millions of years to form and
once used they can never be used again, leaving them to be known as nonrenewable resources.
Each type of fossil fuel releases different substances into the air when being used. For example
coal is a hard rich like substance that is made up of carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, and varying
amounts of sulfur. Obviously, when burned these elements are released into the atmosphere
(California Energy Commission). Coal is available in almost every country in the world, with the
biggest reserves in the United States, Russia, China, and India.
For over centuries, fossil fuels have been used to fuel houses, cars, and work places, along with
many others establishments. Fossil fuels are a necessity in the average persons life. As stated by
Clarkson University, of all the energy consumed in the United States, 85.6% is

Apathy In American Psycho
I believe that everyone in my generation should watch the controversial film American Psycho.
This movie is essentially a social commentary on how our society is dying. It provides some
examples of the symptoms of a dying society we see in our world today, like apathy, moral decay,
and affluenza. American Psycho displays apathy in the last scene of the movie. The main character,
Patrick Bateman, had just committed mass murder the night before and confessed it to his lawyer.
His lawyer, fearing the public backlash against Patrick, essentially told him to act as if nothing
happened. Patrick was never punished for his heinous crime because no one cared enough to
prosecute him. In addition, when Patrick returned to the apartment where he murdered his friend
several days before, he found a real estate company there that was cleaning up the place and
attempting to sell the apartment. When he inspected ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One scene that displays this features Patrick and his friends comparing business cards. Patrick s
card is not the best, so he has a mental breakdown. In another scene, he kills his friend because
his friend likes a different restaurant than Patrick does. Perhaps the most glaring example,
however, is the scene where he brutally stabs a homeless man to death: first, he felt bad for the
homeless and said he would help the him, but then when Patrick saw that the homeless man was
absolutely pathetic by Patrick s standards , Patrick proceeded to take out a knife and stab the
homeless man to death. American Psycho is a masterfully crafted social commentary relevant
today. It shows the signs of a defective and dying society, which include apathy, moral decay, and
affluenza. This is relevant today because these three qualities are exactly what we see today in
society. American Psycho can be interpreted as a call to action, to maintain high moral standards
and to not let our wealth blind us to the needs of other

  • 2. The Roles Of The Greek And Roman Gods Have you ever wondered why an entire empire would worship mythical beings? To a degree, the Greek and Roman mythological heroes are just the first superheroes. They appeal to children for much the same reason. These gods and heroes may have powers, but they get angry and they do the wrong thing. They are human too. The Roman gods had many different jobs and abilities during the Roman Empire. Rome had lots of gods, but their major gods were worshipped the most because of their power. They were patrons of different things that they specialized in. People would pray, and offer sacrifices to their patrons to help them (Major Roman Gods, 2017). The Romans sacrificed to the gods for lots of different things, not just patrons. They brought treasures to military gods after each battle for thanks in their victory (Major Roman Gods, 2017). They also sacrificed to the gods before important events so the gods would guide them through it. The important Roman gods were worshipped for their power and the assistance they could give to people that presented acceptable tributes. Jupiterwas worshipped because he was the king of the gods, and he controlled the sky. Jupiter could strike people down with lightning bolts. It was said that any who did evil would be punished by him. Jupiter was made a part of the First and Second Triads of Rome (Wasson, 2017). The Romans made him a part of both triads so he would watch over them just as the other two gods that were a part of it did. Romans ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Roman Banquets Many banquets were held all throughout Rome and Greece, and they served as many private and public functions. They were either given by the state, or by the officials. They usually had civic, religious, or political purposes, and these banquets allowed the upper class to exchange different ideas along with display their own wealth. The Greek banquets were sponsored by various organizations to which their citizens belonged: philosophical societies, religious groups, and community organizations. The banquets were held time to time for special occasions and holidays. These banquets helped unify the organizations, and they also reinforced the social order by reminding each man the place he takes in the large community. Governments occasionally... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Often, wealthy individuals gave banquets for anyone who attended or participated in the funeral of a relative who had died. This practice began as a way of honoring the memory of the deceased. Over time, the wealthy Romans started to serve banquets, in order to gain favor of others. Generals, politicians seeking office, and others eager to win popular support also adopted the custom of giving public banquets. In 27 B.C.E., the emperor Augustus banned public banquets, except those given by himself. He hoped, in this way, to keep others from winning the affection and support of the Roman populace. Like the Greeks, the Romans reclined on couches while banqueting. Although, in the Roman context, respectable women were permitted to join men in reclining. The females that attended were restricted to entertain, unlike the Greek women. A dining room typically held three broad couches, each couch seating three individuals, thus allowing for a total of nine guests. This type of room is commonly described as a triclinium, meaning a three couch room. The couches weee usually made of wood, but they were sometimes made of gold and ivory. In a triclinium, the couches were arranged along three walls of the room in a U shape. At the center of the room, there was a single table that was accessible to all of the diners. A proper Roman dinner included three courses: the hors d oeuvres (gustatio), the main course (mensae primae), and the dessert (mensae ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Dakota Pipeline Case Study Dakota Pipeline Issue Since July of 2016, there has been an extensive amount of tension between protesters and law enforcement over an oil pipeline near the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation. The Dakota access pipeline is a 3.7 billion investment project that would carry 470,000 barrels of oil a day from the oil fields of western North Dakotato Patoka, Illinois. The Dakota access pipeline is a stirring issue and is causing thousands protesters to camp out in rural North Dakota to protest for what they believe. The Dakota access pipeline is to be built by Texas energy transfer partners to move a massive amount of crude oil a day. This pipeline is 1,172 miles long, thirty inches in diameter. It will connect the expanding Bakken and Three Folks Production areas in North Dakota to Illinois. The pipeline will allow domestically produced oil from North Dakota to reach larger markets in a more direct, safer, and cost effective manner. The Treaty of Fort Laramie of April 29, 1868 described the boundaries of the reservation which is the east bank of the Missouri river to the Nebraska line. The Native Americans that are apart of the Standing Rock Sioux tribe have been protesting the pipeline being built for nearly two years. The uproar from the protesters started in July when the engineers asked for a permit to build the pipeline to cross under the missouri river at Lake Oahe. The native americans have began protesting for a number of reasons. The first is that the tribe get their water from the Missouri River and any oil spills could put their drinking water at risk. The start of the construction has begun digging up the Sioux sacred burial sites. • 8. Learning Online And Traditional Classroom Setting During my educational journey I have experienced learning online and in a traditional classroom setting. Working in a classroom allowed me to receive a more hands on approach with my learning from my instructor. Learning in person helped me to seek help if I was confused, ask questions, and receive a response immediately. Upon completing my work assignments, I was able to work side by side with my classmates and collaborate, and work as a team. Most importantly, everything is at your fingertips such as your class material and a physical textbook. In addition, in a classroom setting you are able to take quizzes and tests that will help you retain the information by answering the questions. However, learning online is totally a different ball game. When learning online most of the time there is no test or quizzes involved, you work at your own pace, and the only material you will need is your computer. Working at your own pace helps because, it allows you to work ahead and complete your assignments according to your own schedule and not having to wait on your instructor. A great advantage to learning online is, not having to travel to a physical classroom. Your work is available at any time of the day. Everything I needed was in my computer so I didn t have to keep up with any material or purchase any. The author believes that English is a global language. There are many factors that coincide with the author s opinion. The author had a lot of points that proved that English truly is a global language. The author demonstrated his facts with a cohesive argument, using logos and ethos, however due to this being a more research based article, there is little to no pathos. In the following paragraphs I will analyze the article and show what kind of rhetorical appeals the author used to further prove his argument. A global language is a language that is spoken universally throughout many countries. A language is considered to be a global language when it is learned by a plethora of people. The most popular one being English. A wide range of English vocabulary was taken from other European countries. Famous linguist David Crystal argues that languages have a strong relation between dominance and cultural power. The main reason that the languages exist is because of a strong power base, political and military or economic. (A Global Language, 2016). The author uses logos to persuade the reader through historical facts and by quoting famous linguists. He is explaining that the reason for the English language being so prominent throughout the world is due its dominance worldwide, this will be explained in greater detail in ... The first step for man to achieve Ubermensch is to overcome a collective herd view of values because they are not bridges to Ubermensch. Once this herd is overcome, man can begin to concentrate on overcoming himself. Both philosophers also agree that the individual is more important than the group. Black Dwarf Research Paper Stars are born, grow old, and die, at rates that are related to their mass and any external pressures acting on them, similar to the life cycle of all living things in the universe. The process in which stars change dramatically throughout their existence is called stellar evolution and can take millions to billions of years. Stellar evolution describes how stars transform over time, from birth, through life, which includes growth, and ending in death. Fusion, the force that generates energy, is balanced by the pull of gravity, resulting in the progression and development of the star. Stars begin their life cycle as molecular clouds, or nebula. Some event, such as a shock wave or collision of a galaxy, causes the cloud to collapse and form smaller pieces, which contract inward and form a protostar. As the star... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Once the helium in the core is exhausted, the star emits its outer layers into space, contracts down, and emerges as a White Dwarf. A Black Dwarf is simply an explanation for what would result following the death of a White Dwarf. In larger stars, the core s temperature increases enough to burn carbon into neon. Burning and contraction are repeated until iron is established in the core. The pressure of neutrons will interrupt the collapse of the core, creating a neutron star. The sudden cease in the contraction of the core allows some of the mass to flow inward. The core becomes heavier and can t tolerate it s own gravitational force. This creates a shock wave blowing the outer layer of the star apart in a core collapse supernova eruption. This explosion results in the distribution of elements throughout the ... The woman was beautiful, no older than twenty five, but her eyes betrayed stark dispassion, each successive swirl around the pole deepening the bags below her eyes. We sat, looking on with a mixture of pity and curiosity, cheap vodka burning in the back of our throats, all knowing that we were thinking the same thing, but no one said a word. We retired to our motel at 2:30 that night, the time at the club had all but disappeared, gone in the trance of the woman s dancing. We slept late that morning, it was almost noon when we awoke, groggy and hungover. The lobby served breakfast, bland and cold. Each sip of the tepid, acidic coffee required more labor than it was worth, and we left unsatisfied. Jack grunted as he pushed on the exterior door, and grimaced at the slice of sunlight that split his face in two. The air was dry and hot, as we walked, dust welled up from every section of sunbaked pavement, through the cigarette butts that littered the ground and up to our ankles, where it collected with every step. The light of day was not kind to Reno, the vibrant lights that dotted the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. Effects of Surfactants on Suppository Absorption Essay... Suppositories are the frequently used dosage forms prescribed through rectal route. However, suppositories have the limitation of prolonged onset of action which can be attributed to poor drug release properties of suppository base. Surfactants can increase the drug release to aid absorption by reducing the interfacial tension between rectal fluids and the suppositorybase. The objective of this study was to examine the effect of different concentrations of sodium lauryl sulphate and tween 80 on the drug release of paracetamol from suppositories of palm kernel base (HAMINВ®). Sodium lauryl sulphate (SLS) and tween 80 were used in this study to examine their effect on the drug release from paracetamol suppositories prepared using HAMINВ® base... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Drugs are incorporated into suitable suppository bases which may be fatty base or water soluble base to form suppositories into suitable shape to be inserted into the rectum. [3] In the rectum, the suppositories release their drug content by melting at body temperature or dissolving in rectal mucous secretion to be diffused across the rectal epithelium into the mucosa that is abundantly vascularised. [4] The drug can be absorbed through the middle and inferior rectal veins into systemic circulation by passing the hepatic first pass metabolism, which gives the rectal route of administration an extra advantage. Paracetamol is a well known drug for its analgesic and antipyretic activity. It is available in oral, rectal and intravenous dosage form. The most common route of administration is the oral route as paracetamol is being absorbed well through this route with the bioavailability of 63 89%. [5] The absorption half life through oral route is 4.5 minutes with no lag time. [6] The rectal form of paracetamol is mainly intended to be used in children as they have difficulty in swallowing oral medication. The bioavailability of paracetamol administered through rectal route is in the range of 24 98%, depending on the suppositories physical composition with 35 minutes of mean absorption half life and 40 minutes of lag time. The rectal absorption of paracetamol is poor compared to oral route. [7] Studies showed that there is a significant longer ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 33. Henry James’ Portrait of a Lady Essay Henry James Portrait of a Lady On her long journey from Rome her mind had been given up to vagueness; she was unable to question the future. She performed this journey with sightless eyes and took little pleasure in the countries she traversed, decked out though they were in the richest freshness of spring. Her thoughts followed their course through other countries‹strange looking, dimly lighted, pathless lands, in which there was no change of seasons, but only as it seemed, a perpetual dreariness of winter. She had plenty to think about; but it was neither reflexion nor conscious purpose that filled her mind. Disconnected visions passed through it, and sudden dull gleams of memory, of expectation. The past and the future came and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The most fertile ground for her imagination is her own life: She was always planning out her development, desiring her perfection, observing her progress. (It is interesting to note, here and elsewhere in the novel, the way James often has Isabel treat herself in her own mind as an external, abstract, almost objectified subject: James might well have written Е’her own developmentВ№ or Е’her own perfectionВ№, but chose not to, leaving us with the subtle impression that she is somehow disconnected from herself in her own mind.) Given these first descriptions of Isabel, it is hard not to register the simple power of the statement that, she was unable to question the future ‹she, and by natural extension the reader, has been deprived of one of her liveliest faculties, and James has ensured that we feel the immensity of this momentary loss. Another thing to note in this passage is JamesВ№ metaphorical use of landscape. In the opening chapters of the novel, we are told of Isabel: Her nature had, in her conceit, a certain garden like quality, a suggestion of perfume and murmuring boughs, of shady bowers and lengthening vistas, which made her feel that introspection was, after all, an exercise in the open air, and that a visit to the recesses of oneВ№s spirit was harmless when one returned from it with a lapful of roses. This project examines the construction of subjectivity in Eleanor Antin s Carving: A Traditional Sculpture (fig. 1) and Chris Kraus Aliens and Anorexia (fig. 2) . These works inscribe notions of the self, the social, and the subject through and upon the body, addressing the interpolating poles of nutritive consumption and willing the body away through self starvation. Throughout this essay, I will demonstrate how these artists engage with the spaces and discourses created around food and disordered eating to produce a counter dominant take on subjectivity, a thematic both artists attend to regularly throughout their careers. Before attending to theoretical concerns I will first ground my reading in art historical methods, explicating the position of these works within Antin and Kraus larger oeuvres and within the historical contexts of their production. An analysis of form and medium also underlines a reading of these works that privileges self and subjectivity. In Carving, A Traditional Sculpture and Aliens and Anorexia, the live or temporal practices common throughout Antin and Kraus careers are respectively mediated through photography and texts. By removing the material body from works that are essentially performative, the artist looks back over herself, commenting on, while creating her own lived subjectivity. I chose to position these two works together because, as Clare Johnson states in her study of Antin, Vanessa Beecroft, and Elizabeth Manchester, I want to discuss the artworks in terms that do not presuppose a proper form of feminist art practice, or suggest that the contemporary work supersedes the critical strategies of the earlier piece. Johnson s articulated aims are not to claim any single artist or artwork as feminist, per se, but to create rich and complex readings that articulate the inscriptions of feminist practice and reflect the relational web of mutually constitutive meanings. This web frames a discussion of Kraus and Antin s work, allowing for a critical co reading of works produced at different ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Analysis Of The Movie August Morning April Morning is a story that describes the process of change in a time when Americans nation was developing. Due to its importance, Hollywood decided to make the movie based off of it with same name and theme. The story takes place during the Battle of Lexington on April 19, 1775. Adam Cooper is just 15 years old and lives in Lexington. Adam s decision to sign the muster book for the militia is one of the key turning points of his sudden change from childhood into adulthood. Movie has exaggerated some scenes due to dramatic purpose. The movie is more focused on the summery of the novel. It does have it s own similarities and differences. The characters were changed and taken off from the movie. I would recommend people to watch the movie and read the novel. Movie has its more emotional side than the novel. Simultaneously, novel has more details compared to the movie. Both, the movie and novel were able to depict a great tale of a child who fought for his country and became a man. Both make us realize how important this battle was to our history and culture. First of all, Characters were manipulated by a big margin in the movie. Granny s relation with Adam was very unlike in movie than the novel. In the movie Granny s role was very silent and haven t show any significant support towards Adam. On the other hand, Granny was the only family member that was very close to Adam by any means in the novel. I can t see what s to disagree with when you have hardly begun (P.21). ... • 38. The Fossil Of Fossil Fuels Fossil fuels are formed from decayed prehistoric plants and animals that lived millions of years ago (Science Daily). According to the United States Department of Energy, when ancient living plants and animals died, they decomposed and became buried under layers of mud, rock, and sand. After millions of years, these plants and animals slowly decomposed into organic material. Depending on what combination of plant and/or animal debris was decomposed, different types of fossil fuels were formed. These fossil fuels are then converted into coal, oil, and natural gas(United States Department of Energy). With this in mind, fossil fuels take millions of years to form and once used they can never be used again, leaving them to be known as nonrenewable resources. Each type of fossil fuel releases different substances into the air when being used. For example coal is a hard rich like substance that is made up of carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, and varying amounts of sulfur. Obviously, when burned these elements are released into the atmosphere (California Energy Commission). Coal is available in almost every country in the world, with the biggest reserves in the United States, Russia, China, and India. For over centuries, fossil fuels have been used to fuel houses, cars, and work places, along with many others establishments. Fossil fuels are a necessity in the average persons life. As stated by Clarkson University, of all the energy consumed in the United States, 85.6% is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Apathy In American Psycho I believe that everyone in my generation should watch the controversial film American Psycho. This movie is essentially a social commentary on how our society is dying. It provides some examples of the symptoms of a dying society we see in our world today, like apathy, moral decay, and affluenza. American Psycho displays apathy in the last scene of the movie. The main character, Patrick Bateman, had just committed mass murder the night before and confessed it to his lawyer. His lawyer, fearing the public backlash against Patrick, essentially told him to act as if nothing happened. Patrick was never punished for his heinous crime because no one cared enough to prosecute him. In addition, when Patrick returned to the apartment where he murdered his friend several days before, he found a real estate company there that was cleaning up the place and attempting to sell the apartment. When he inspected ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One scene that displays this features Patrick and his friends comparing business cards. Patrick s card is not the best, so he has a mental breakdown. In another scene, he kills his friend because his friend likes a different restaurant than Patrick does. Perhaps the most glaring example, however, is the scene where he brutally stabs a homeless man to death: first, he felt bad for the homeless and said he would help the him, but then when Patrick saw that the homeless man was absolutely pathetic by Patrick s standards , Patrick proceeded to take out a knife and stab the homeless man to death. American Psycho is a masterfully crafted social commentary relevant today. It shows the signs of a defective and dying society, which include apathy, moral decay, and affluenza. This is relevant today because these three qualities are exactly what we see today in society. American Psycho can be interpreted as a call to action, to maintain high moral standards and to not let our wealth blind us to the needs of other ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The study of 11,000 galaxies shows their gas the lifeblood for star formation is being violently stripped away on a widespread scale throughout the local Universe. Toby Brown, leader of the study and PhD candidate at ICRAR and Swinburne University of Technology, said the image we paint as astronomers is that galaxies are embedded in clouds of dark matter that we call dark matter halos. As galaxies fall through these larger halos, the superheated intergalactic plasma between them removes their gas in a fast acting ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
