UCD's Social Science degree program provides students with a broad-based education covering topics in sociology, social policy, archaeology, economics, geography, politics, philosophy, and psychology. In the first year, students take introductory modules in these subjects. In the second and third years, students choose a major path such as social work, environmental policy, or rights and justice. The program prepares students for careers in people-focused fields and offers opportunities for international study exchange programs or graduate study.

• University College Dublin has its origins in the mid-

educationalist John Henry Cardinal Newman. Since its

choices for a major subject.

including English, Irish, Mathematics & three
other recognised subjects. Two of the six
subjects must be minimum HC3.

• Psychology (Note: Psychology is not available as a major
subject in second and third year but some Psychology

At the beginning of second year you choose your major
subjects for your degree. You select one of the following
paths:

• Environmental Policy
• Development Studies
• Human & Organisational
• Rights, Justice and Society
• Crime and Social Order
• Social Media (Students can opt for a professional
qualification in Librarianship within this path)

8. INTERNATIONAL STUDY OPPTUNITIES
• In my second year, i can apply to enter the four-year
Bachelor of Social Science (International) degree. If
accepted, I can attend one of our partner universities in
countries such as Australia, Belgium, Canada,
Denmark, Finland, France, Italy, Malta, the
Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Spain, Sweden
and the USA.
