The Nathaniel Hawthorn story The Birthmark is a about a scientist who strives to
fix the imperfections of human nature. Not only does he kill his wife during the
process, his attempt to have any control over human nature dies as well. This story
is ironic in the way Hawthorne uses his symbolism in his characters to portray.
Judith Fetterley says, The Birthmark demonstrates the consequences to women of
being trapped in the laboratory of man s mind, the object of unrelenting scrutiny,
examination, and experimentation, (Fetterley 32). In Hawthorn s story, all of the
symbols in the story represent that despite man s attempts, nature cannot be altered
without a consequence. As a scientist who views nature not as beautiful, but as
flawed, Aylmer feels that it is in his power to have corrected what Nature left

the story that Aylmer persuaded a beautiful women to become his wife

The theories of international relations (IR) and transnational politics offer quite
different views on international politics. Whereas, traditional IR focuses on inter state
relations, transnational politics focuses on interaction in a specific issue area between
societal actors in different national systems, for example issues as feminism, the

In addition, within the stores there are so many areas sections off with lines for
their own for specific items such as laptops, Ipads, and other expensive items that
are very limited in the quantity a store even receives. The insanity of the
consumers showing up hours before the store even opens or sales even began
made me step back and wonder if it is really worth the few bucks of savings. I have
seen consumers rushing to be the first in line and closest to the pallets and racks of
the items still covered up. It is crazy people actually start taking the boxes apart to
look what inside while waiting for the sale time to start. I do not recommend
bringing your kids to shop, because consumers can be rude and very pushy. Also,
some stores even announce specials that are only advertised in the store during the
Black Friday sale times. All these things seem to just send consumers into and even

Today, hundreds of thousands of service men and women and recent military
veterans have seen combat. Many have been shot at, seen their buddies killed, or
witnessed death up close. These are types of events that can lead to Post Traumatic
Stress Disorder ( Post Traumatic Stress Disorder PTSD: A Growing Epidemic. )
Anyone that has gone through a traumatic event can be diagnosed with PTSD but
research shows, military men and women are more susceptible to having PTSD
(PTSD: A Growing Epidemic.) And, with little help from the US, many Veterans do
not get the help they need or get treated for PTSD. Military men and women begin to

The first vampire book I have ever read was Interview with the Vampire, which
peaked my love for vampire literature. This novel is a part of a series of Vampire
Chronicles written by the author Anne Rice. Rice was born on October 4, 1941 in
New Orleans, Louisiana. Her real name is Howard Allen Frances O Brien; named
after her father. When she was in first grade her name was changed to Anne. She
was raised in a conservative Catholic home and attended a parochial school as a
young girl. In 1958 her family moved to Richardson, Texas where she would gradate
high school. According to Biography.com, Rice studied briefly at Texas Women s
University and North Texas State College. After marrying Stan Rice, she eventually
moved to California, where she earned her degree at San Francisco State College.

Before her successful career as a writer of vampire novels and erotica she tried her
hand at several different jobs. She was a cook, a waitress and an insurance
examiner before she began her true calling. Her inspiration for her first novel
Interview with a Vampire was inspired by the death of her daughter Michele, who
at the tender age of five died of leukemia. The character Claudia in the story is based
on her dead child, as an outlet for her pain and probably as a way to keep her alive
forever. After her first novel Interview with the Vampirewas published in 1976 she
gained a vast following of readers who shared a love for the supernatural.
Her novel was such a hit that in 1994 it was turned into a movie starring Brad Pitt
as the vampire Louis and Tom Cruise at the vampire Lestat. The movie would be
called Interview with a Vampire, instead of Interview with the Vampire. Luckily I
was able to read the book before I was even remotely interested in watching the
movie. I was completely drawn to Anne Rice after reading her novel back in 2000
when I was in high school. She changed my view of what I think vampires should be;
turning them from a hideous, blood sucking monster to a beautiful and mysterious
person full or raw human emotion.
