The Transition Times. Graduation Is One Example Of A Time
The Transition Times Graduation is one example of a time of celebration and honor. It is the
reward you receive for multiple years of difficult work and perseverance. It is also an extremely
bittersweet occasion because often times you are required to make difficult decisions. Decisions
that could take you away from everyone and everything you have ever known. This is known as a
timeof transition. Honestly, it seems a bit anticlimactic that after all the emotions and preparation
you do beforehand is all summarized within a few short hours. This is how the majority of my
fellow upcoming graduates are feeling right now, but I do not. I believe that in order to better
understand these monumental occasions of transition, you must first... Show more content on

During high school you form both positive and negative relationships with people and learn a
various assortment of life lessons. If I challenged myself to choose my top three picks on what
life lessons I have learned I would say freedom, responsibility, and tolerance. I say that I have
learned the lesson of freedom simply owing to the fact that this was my first taste of freedom.
When you receive your driver s license and car or you are able to date for the first time you feel
the absolutely exhilarating unbridled feeling of freedom. This feeling blossoms and flourishes for
only a moment, because then it has company. Freedom is joined by the always rational and logical
emotion responsibility. Responsibility is like the notification that forces you to go home in time
for your curfew or the friend you forces you to stop at the stop sign or to not drink and drive.
When freedom and responsibility work together, you are safe and you also have a great time
growing up. When the two emotions combine together your chances of living to adulthood
increase dramatically. The last life lesson I chose is most definitely not the least important. I have
become more tolerant of not only people and their decisions but also with circumstances. This was
not only the most difficult lesson I have had to learn, but it is the lesson that I am most thankful
for due to the fact that I know that I will use it more and more frequently as I enter into the real
world .

Pulse Ox Test
Did you know that heart abnormalities are the most common birth defect? I didn t, until a few
weeks ago. A Facebook friend posted a link to the Cora s Story blog and I casually clicked over
to see what it was about. Cora died suddenly in her mama s arms at just 5 days old from an
undetected congenital heart defect (CHD). I can t imagine suffering such a devastating loss, and I
thank my lucky stars for my kids healthy hearts. But Cora s motherKristine has turned her pain
into a wonderful mission in her daughter s name: to raise awareness about CHD and how easily
it can be detected. With Kristine and Cora s help, hopefully more CHDs will be caught and treated
early, saving babies and children s lives.
Another fact I learned from Cora is how easily many CHDs can be detected. A simple pulse
oximetry test (aka pulse ox ) done 24 48 hours after birth in conjunction with a newborn exam can
detect a large proportion of CHDs, with a low false positive rate. A pulse ox test is noninvasive
and very simple: the reader is typically attached to the baby s toe and determines the oxygen
saturation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As I mentioned, the test is completely non invasive and hospitals already have the equipment.
Portable pulse ox readers are also available, which means both birth center and homebirth
midwives could also easily carry them. Kristine is working on Cora s behalf to get laws passed
nationwide mandating a pulse ox to be done on every newborn. I applaud her efforts and admire
her strength at turning her pain into an effort to save lives.
What can YOU do? Request this test for your own babies and tell the pregnant moms in your life
to request it when their babies are born. Pass this information on, and tell others to pass it on too.
Write your Congressman and your state representatives and tell them you want pulse ox testing to
be mandatory for all newborns. You might just save a baby s life.

Poetic Form Of The Shakespearan Sonnet
A sonnet refers to a poetic form which originated in Italy. There are two kinds: the Petrarchan
(Italian) and the Shakespearean (English). Both kinds still consist of fourteen lines written in
iambic pentameters unstressed, then stressed syllables. The Italian form began with Francesco
Petrarca. The Shakespearean form began with Thomas Wyatt and Earl of Surrey (Shelley, 2015).
The sestet and octave have special functions in the Petrarchan sonnet. The sonnet is separated into
an eight line stanza as well as a six line stanza. The first paragraph (with eight lines) is referred as
an octave and follows the rhyme sequence: a b b a a b b a. Moving on, the second stanza
(consisting of six lines) is called a sestet and follows one of these rhyme patterns: c d c d c d, c d
e c d e, c d e c e d, c d c e d c, c d d c d c. This shape makes the sonnet a self sufficient form, open to
shades of mood and tone. The final two lines cannot end in a couplet because the couplet was never
used in Italy or by Petrarch. The Shakespearean Sonnet, or English Sonnet, is very different from
the Petrarchan Sonnet. While the Shakespearean Sonnet consists of fourteen lines, just like the
Petrarchan Sonnet, the lines are divided into different stanzas (Shelley, 2015). This sonnet is
composed using three quatrains (three stanzas consisting of four lines each) and a concluding
couplet (a two line stanza). The rhyme scheme of this sonnet is alternating, throughout the quatrains,
and ends in a rhyming

The Success Of A Circle Time
Successful Circle Time Circle time is one of the most fun and creative times of the school day.
Preschool children, typically ages three to around six, are very hands one and mobile. They want to
move about and explore things around them. For any teacher struggling with circle time and
keeping the attention of their students I would suggest multiple tips on how to keep students
engaged. One is to make circle timeinteractive and get the students involved in the circle time. An
example would be giving each student a part in a song or a story to act out. Another suggestion
would be to start each circle time with a song and dance so that students can release some of the
energy that they have and be ready to focus during circle time. It is also a great idea to have
students move around during circle time so they are not getting restless and moving in anyway
they want (). Two very key things for circle time to be a success is to be consistent with circle
time and have it daily so that students know what to expect. I have observed activities like
reviewing the calendar, weather, and reading a short book. Finally, one must be aware and patient
of the disturbances that will pop up during circle time. Know that students are all developing in
different ways and not one is like the other. While one student may sit attentively for a prolonged
period of time, another may not be at that point yet. Plan circle time around your students needs
and it will be a very happy experience for

The Knight Of Light By The Greenest Grass
Chapter 1: The Knight of Light
The Knight of Light
Once upon a time, in a land far, far away, there was a small kingdom that had a sky of the bluest
blue, and was surrounded by the greenest grass which was decorated by every flower you could
imagine.
Within this kingdom there was a village that was filled with happiness, and everyone who lived
there was always smiling, for they loved their little village. They loved the blue skies, they loved
the green grass that was decorated by every flower you could imagine, and they loved their
kingdom.
But what the villagers loved most was their beautiful queen. She was a wonderful and benevolent
woman who lived in an enormous pure white castle just outside of the village. From there she would

Alas, this was not the end of the Darkness s scheme. Once it was done with the village it swept into
the queens pure white castle and into the bedchamber of the queen herself. The Darkness then
snatched her up in its giant claw and dragged her out of the bedchamber. It dragged her out of the
pure white castle, out of the village, and took her into the very depths of Hell themselves.
After the queen was taken, the blue skies turned cloudy and grey, the pure white castle became
ugly, and discoloured, and an eternal gloom settled upon the kingdom. From that moment on, none
of the villagers could smile, for with their glowing queen stolen from them, what reason was there
to smile?
Days turned into weeks, weeks turned into months, months turned into years and years turned into
centuries, and the kingdom remained the gloomy, grey ghost of the joy it had once celebrated. In
that time the queen did not return, and any fool who was brave enough to try and look for her
never came back.
But then one day, after exactly one hundred years had passed since the Darkness came, a
stranger came to the gloomy kingdom, and he was not like the sad, smile less villagers who lived
there. No, this man was a knight! For he rode a white stallion and he wore a shining suit of armor,
made out of the purest silver which shone like a finely cut jewel, with a

Effective Use of Celebrity Endorsement as an Advertising...

Second stage is endorsement, which involves the symbolic properties conveyed by celebrity are
transferred from this meaning to product and the process of develop brand attitudes is taking
place. The final stage is consumption, showing how the product transfer image to the consumers.
Celebrities are useful in marketing brands because a credible endorser have the ability to
influence consumer perception towards a product. Hence, advertisers need to choose a suitable
celebrity that match with the endorsed product. Till (1998) claim that when choosing an endorser,
the fit, similarity or belongingness of celebrity and brand need to be carefully scrutiny. This view
is agreed by Hsu and McDonald (2002), when the celebrity characteristics match with the product
attributes it is found that celebrity endorsement can be effective. Nike s consistently used Michael
Jordon as endorser influenced consumer minds towards the brand; when consumer saw
advertisement of Nike, they will think of Michael Jordan and vice versa (Christisan and Rikard,
2004). 4. CONSUMER BEHAVIOUR The effectiveness of advertising depends on the celebrity is
closely connected in consumer s mind with the product (Daneshvary and Schwer, 2000). Indeed,
Goldsmith et al. (2000) stated that credible endorser have more positive effect on consumer s
behavior towards the advertisement. Along with Liu et al. (2007); Pornpitakpan (2003);

Insanity And Detachment Of Order
Melissa Ranieri
Mrs. Sakotic
ENG4U1
30 May 2017 Insanity and Detachment of Order
Insanity is a field of behaviours characterized by abnormal mental or behavioural patterns. It may
be apparent as violations of societal norms, including a person becoming a danger to themselves or
others. In modern usage, insanity is mostly seen as a term implying mental instability. Insanity is a
recurring theme in Timothy Findley s fictions. While he does not dispute its existence, the author
brings into question its meaning and its role, as well as the values of the societies that seek to
define it. Findley brings into question the meaning of this theme, both in a narrative context within
his books and as a term in itself and within ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In both cases, the theme of insanity creates a detachment of societal norms. Hooker s hint of
insanity develops at the beginning of the book, when he goes on to describe the conditions in
which he lives in, and goes on to state that his ...house was just on the outskirts of town, unlike
the rest of the town s people. All through the house they closed doors and drew shades, they got
dead quiet. That is how his father liked it after Jessie came home (Findley 9). This life of
isolation has already given Hooker the incentive to detach from society, as he is constantly seen
as a character that has trouble with understanding societal ideals. He is seen as a character who
has been forced to detach from society when his mother Jessie comes home wanting to live in
isolation after the miscarriage of her unborn child; therefore allowing some of his mothers
negative behaviours about life to rub off on him. Through the characterization of Hooker, Findley
explores the vice potential of such a subject, who becomes the servant of destruction of the social
structures that produced him. In Julie Salem Wiseman s essay Insanity Begins at Home: Madness
in the Family in Timothy Findley s Last of the Crazy People, she states that Findley creates a
Laingian portrait of how a disordered and degenerate social reality of which the Winslows
especially Hooker are an extreme representation produces subjects who have not only internalized
the social pathology that has formed them but also use the

1980s Economy
The onus of this essay is to support it with broad range of data, statistics, economic models and
theory to revive and analyze the real causes which left dramatic effects on the economy by
discussing the major events and effects it had on the general public that turned a once prosperous
economy into turmoil. We shall look at many major factors which triggered the downturn from a
different spectrum such as high levels of unemployment, the cost of living, public spending interest
rates and many more.
Late 1970s and early 1980 s (1979 1983) was a turbulent period in the history of United Kingdom s
economy. Britain welcomed their first female prime minister when they were facing major
economic volatility. 80s was the phase when UK was facing cost push inflation like a lot of other
countries around the world. Due to the aftermath effects of 1970s when rising oil prices costs

As we can see from the graph above UK s inflation in 1980 was 18% followed by a steep drop in
1981 of 11.90%, 8.60% in1982 and lastly 4.60% in 1983 resulting in a highly disinflated economy
due to inflation rates sky rocketing which however was dealt severely by the government by
decreasing budget deficit and charging higher taxes by cutting extensively on spending.
The graph above demonstrates the enormous levels of unemployment during the early 1980s which
put over three million people out of work in 1983 . I believe the strong decline of the trade union
power in this phase resulted in deterioration of employment due to tight monetary policy with
critical reasoning such as unions not having enough power to push up the wages and wage demands
not meeting up to the point of

Summary Of Ernest Hemingway sBig Two Hearted River Part 1
Response 1 Ernest Hemingway s Big Two Hearted River Part 1 appears as simple tale of a man
going camping. It talks about his journey through a burnt area of land. He ultimately sets up
camp, has some fond memories of a friend, and then he goes to sleep. However the story, in my
opinion, has a much deeper meaning. Everything that happens in the story has a reason behind it
being mentioned. Hemingway, I believe, shows Nick s growth through analogies that often fly
over the reader s head, including the transition from the burnt town to the river, the river
conditions, and the trouts movement in the river and the sooty appearance of the grasshoppers.
Hemingway sets the location for the story as soon as Nick gets off the train There was no town,
nothing but the rails and the burned over country. The thirteen saloons that had lined the one
street of Seney had not left a trace ( 133). A town that was once booming with people had been
burnt down. Why did Hemingway point out the destroyed town? It would appear that the focal
point would be the town, but Hemingway quickly transitions into Nick going to a river. As the
story says, Nick looked at the burned over stretch of hillside, where he had expected to find the
scattered houses of the town and then walked down the railroad track to the bridge over the
river. The river was there (133). He sets the reader up by talking about a once great town now
being burnt to a crisp. The idea here is to have the reader thinking man, all these people have lost
their home. Despite this, it is clear that the town being burnt down is not the most important
thing. Hemingway could have easily told a story about the town; instead he quickly moved onto
the river. The river is a very important and recurring piece of the story. When Hemingway says,
Nick looked down into the clear, brown water, colored from the pebbly bottom (133), Notice
how he talks about water being brown colored from the pebbles. It s clear that the water has
changed due to the fire. Despite the changes, the fish were still doing just fine. Hemingway seems
to drive home this point as he mentions, It was a long long time since Nick had looked into a
stream and seen trout. They were very satisfactory.

The Holocaust In The Twentieth Century
The Holocaust
From extreme prejudice to mass genocide, I think everyone could agree that the holocaust was one
of the worst things to happen to the world in the twentieth century.
The holocaust also known as Shoah in Hebrew started around 1933, it was a mass genocide where
almost six million Jews were brutally killed as a deliberate attempt to get rid of the entire Jewish
population. Adolf Hitler came into command as the chancellor of Germany on January 30,1933; he
continued to rule until May 8, 1945. The Nazis believed that the Germans were racially superior

My Life With Drinking Water
9:15. This is the time that I awoke on yet another seemingly average Thursday morning. I
groggily force myself to rise from the warm sanctuary of my multiple blankets and pillows in
order to start my day. After the hour or so of preparing for the day ahead, I decide that it is time to
hydrate myself by drinking water. However, this is not just any ordinary water. It is Dasani, my
favorite affordable brand of bottled water. As I reach my refrigerator, I am met with immense
dismay as I learn that my supply has been emptied out. Seeing as though I typically go grocery
shopping anyway on Thursdays, this disappointment did not ruin my day. I go through my day
as usual by going to my classes for the day. When they end, I prepare for my journey out to the
store. I must find the one thing I allow to quench my thirst, Dasani. I go through the local
Kroger as usual, picking up any food that I find will last me and my roommate for a week or
two. Then, I enter the beverage aisle. My entire day has been leading up to this moment. I speed
past the numerous sugary options and head straight to the bottled water. My eyes scan through
the various options. After a few seconds of intense searching, my eyes lock onto the green and
blue packaging of the reliable bottled water, Dasani. As if it was a reflex, my body rushes towards
the case and lifts up the slightly heavy twenty four case of the bottled water. While handing the
cashier money in exchange for my groceries, I begin to wonder why I

Teachers need to get through students on order to teach a student. Some students might not show

The Internet And Its Effect On Our Lives
Summary and Analysis
My first image shows that in today s generation the internet is becoming a huge factor in their day
to day lives. The internet allows this generation to communicate with each other through text
messages, or social media like Facebook, and twitter. The internet provides us with all of the
answers to our day to day questions; it also provides us with endless amounts of entertainment such
as games, music, and movies, etc. The internet also makes living our day to day lives easier by
providing us with the ability to run our businesses online and change stocks. However, excessive
activity and addictive activity are two very different things. Healthy excessive activities add to life,
whereas addictions take away from it. Problematic internet use also known as internet addiction
disorder is and individuals inability to control their urges, or behaviors regarding internet use that
lead to distress or impairment. As time went on and the amount of internet use increased, (IAD) has
attracted the attention of many researchers. Some worry that the Internet, with its visual
stimulation and constant distractions, is altering the way we think and not for the better. Some
studies indicate that it may alter physical mechanics of the brain that lead to long term memory
formation, (Clark) And China and South Korea have declared Internet addiction a primary public
health concern. Nicholas Carr and Betsy Sparrow are two of the main people who speak on this
subject.

My First Day At Central High School
Reflections on My First Day at Central High School
When I woke up this morning, I was extremely nervous. Among my close friends and family, I
am known for my uncanny ability to get lost just about everywhere. So you could imagine how
terrified I
was that I would become extremely lost. My younger brother goes to a private school that is pretty
far
away from where Central is located. So my parents decided to wake us all up around 5:30 AM and
leave
the house around 6. They dropped me off at school around 7 AM. At first I was a bit annoyed
because I
thought that no other students would be at Central at that time. In retrospect, getting to school
around 7
was not the worst event that happened to me. That happened a few hours later. I was able to talk to a
couple of other freshmen who had suffered the same fate as I did.
After maybe an hour of sitting around in the auditorium, the school day finally began for the
freshmen. Our orientation leaders had to get to their own classes so the kids of 410 were left find
our own
way to our advisory. Whilst I was inside of the auditorium, I had become friendly with a girl named
Candy from the same advisory. We walked to our advisory together and were lucky to get seats
next to
each other. When the advisory class ended, we walked towards our Algebra 1 Honors class together.
My World History class was the next class of my day. Fortunately, I was able to secure a seat in
the front row. Even though I have

When an organization builds trust, customers will beat a path to their cash register. One way that
Anne Arundel Community college builds trust is through their affordability. AACC charged the
lowest tuition and fees of its four peer community colleges in fiscal year 2016. It also offers a free
tuition payment plan that allows students to spread the cost of their education throughout the
semester. The college believes no student should be prevented from attending because of limited
financial resources. Many students receive financial aid through a combination of need based
federal and state grants, federal student and parent loans, employment through the Federal Work
Study and Institutional Student Employment Programs, interest free payment plans, or an
extensive list of institutional, community and state scholarship funds. Because of the variety of
financial options, the class of 2016 saw a record 2,340 students graduate with 1,154 certificates and
1,850 degrees.
Consistency: Consistency is fundamental for any business. Consistency within Anne Arundel
Community College lets students know what to expect. If AACC s products or quality is
inconsistent the student will stop coming. It also lets them why they should do business with you.
And lastly it allows you to measure and benchmark. This allows an organization to see how they
are doing and what they need to do to improve.

The sound of guns firing, screaming men, bombs going off and the casual side conversations in

Racism the word has a harsh sound to the ear and racism s effects deliver a harsh reality to victims.
The novel Raisin in the Sun and the circumstances of the Moulin Rouge Hotel Casino in Las Vegas,
Nevada, tell how racism destroyed dreams and crushed the soul through discrimination and lost
opportunity. But there s another side to the racismstory. For some of the oppressed, discrimination
and hardship will be fought with perseverance and achievement. In both the fictional Raisin in the
Sun and the historical Moulin Rouge Casino, a black woman, against great odds, will achieve
personal and historic success. Racism in America directed toward black peopleoriginated over 300
years ago with the first importation of black slaves into the America from Africa (Frederickson).
While great progress in eliminating explicit racism has taken place, American society has far to go
in ensuring that blacks have the same protections, advantages and freedoms as whites. Racial
discrimination in this country continues to harm millions of black Americans whether it is through
an inferior education, unfair treatment in the judicial and law enforcement systems or delivery of
sub optimal health care. While the government can play a role in solving this problem with
legislation, equitable law enforcement and national education, it will also take a recognition of the
problem and then a focused, long term effort by generations of families to acknowledge and

question if Kunta will survive and escape. Also it makes me question if he ll ever be united with
Fanta and his family again. This movie is very deep and difficult to watch because it forces me
reflect on how badly Africans and African Americans have been treated, but it also makes me
proud that things are better. I believe that this movie is historically accurate because the
portrayal of the conditions on the ship was as badly as they were during slavery. I feel this
movie accurately depicts life as an African slave and how hard it is to let go of everything
someone has learned and conform to a new identity. I believe the movie explains all points of
perception from the slaves point of view to the slave owners to the capturers and even the captain
of the ship s experience. Although the movie is dramatized, it is very believable. I would rate this
movie an 8.5 so far because I haven t had the chance to see the whole thing. I am intrigued to see

How Hunger Is Detrimental Effects And Outcomes On Children
Hunger is not only a threat to our nation s public health but it also threatens the physical and
cognitive development of children in our community and their potential educational attainment (
Childhood, n.d., para. 1). This research paper will discuss various key topics on child hunger,
beginning from a global health aspect and winding down to a local community aspect, which will
place emphasis on Las Vegas. A literature review will be conducted on how hunger has detrimental
effects and outcomes on children, including but not limited to: nutrition, learning, and education,
and behavioral effects. Next, research will show what s currently being done about child hunger
and what needs to be done in the future with focus on the prevalent hunger issues facing children in
the Las Vegas community and how povertyand hunger in the United States contributes to the issue
of child hunger. Examples of public health organizations, primarily Three Square, who are working
towards the prevention of child hunger, will be given to demonstrate civic engagement in the Las
Vegas community.
From a global health perspective, world hunger is the want or scarcity of food in a country and
connects to malnutrition, which is the lack of nutritional elements in a diet. When contemplating
the question what is the cause of hunger around the world, one might think of factors such as
access to food, geographical location, and social status. However, another key element of hunger

The Laramie Project
In Moises Kaufman s, The Laramie Project the under lying theme of the novel is people are afraid

that homosexuals have to live in there own society. The juxtaposition of anti gay demonstrations
sparked by religion at a homosexual s funeral, and even the physical setting is related to why
people are afraid of change. Whether it is start by homophobia, religion, or opression, people are

Reverend Fred Phelps was the preacher who staged the anti gay demonstration and Matthew was
a homosexual that was brutally beaten and left to die on fence in Wyoming. Simply because he

you can see that Phelps and his followers are afraid of change. Fueled by Phelp s religion that
being gay is a sin, the religion he preaches further opresses homosxuals. Religion plays a large
role on homophobia within Laramie itself. Reverand Phelps was preaching the word of his god,
Were standing here with God s message. We re standing here with God s message. Is
homosexuality is being a fag okay? What do you mean it s not for you to judge? If God doesn t

Civil War Rape Essay
The conditions and goals of war often facilitate and, in some cases, necessitates the conditions for
rape. The conditions of rape are often indistinguishable from those of war because rape is used as
an expression of victory, retaliation against other countries or ethnic groups and as a means to
satisfy weary troops. Before beginning, it is essential to establish what the main goals of wars are;
under the conditions that rapeis condoned. In some instances war is waged as a method of
retaliation; such as the Soviet counterattack after the Nazi invasion of the Soviet Union; war can
be used as an expression of victory or superiority in the case of Nazi Germany and its ideals of a

The fact remains that this is a product of misogyny in their cultures we still see in contemporary
society. Due to this, women are viewed as the paragons and upholders of their societies virtues, as
biological reproducers of national and ethnic groups, agents for transmitting national culture and
ideology, cultural symbols of purity and national housekeepers. This is in stark contrast to men who
are illustrated as protectors of their nation s honour and as warriors; in retrospect, war is waged to
humiliate and, in some cases, destroy the foundation of the opposing nation s society. Men, the
primary defenders of their nation in hindsight are expendable, while they may die, their culture and
society will live on through their women who will go on to transmit their genes and culture through
the children they bear. Because women represent the three pillars of the home and not one; it is
more efficient to target women, not only to demoralise the opposing enemy troops, but to
consequently change the genetic make up and otherwise culture of the society the women live in.
This act of humiliation not only scars the women and emasculates the men, but their society as a
whole. Hence, targeting women through rape, although grotesquely immoral highlights the
effectiveness of rape as a method in which to carry out wars closely affiliated with

Student Debt. Few words drive more fear into the hearts of parents and teenagers alike.
With college graduates now owing more than $1.5 trillion in debt and nearly five million
Americans in student loan default, borrowing for higher education is quickly spiralling out of
control. Universities are one of the best places for wholesome instruction, but what good are these
institutions when no one can pay for their resources? In order to alleviate the problem, many
politicians have proposed plans to make all public college tuition free for students under a set
income threshold. Although it may seem like just the solution that is needed, making college
tuition free, even for a select group of students, is not the best option and would fail to solve the
fundamental cause of the student debt crisis in the first place. ... Show more content on

In just fiscal year 2014 alone, public colleges collected over $58 billion in tuition, nearly double
the $31 billion the government already spends on grants for institutions. To simply waive $58
billion would necessitate a dramatic increase in government spending to compensate, and, by
extension, a dramatic increase in taxes. Not all students at all colleges have troubles with debt,
either. The majority of students who have problems paying off their student loans are those who
attended small for profit schools or community colleges, as those who attend more expensive
schools, despite borrowing more, often end up with higher salaries once they enter the job market.
Moreover, what would be done about those who have already graduated from community college
with debt on their shoulders? Waiving tuition for all public universities would not resolve these
problems; instead, the burden would merely be shifted to taxpayers, hindering economic growth
and leaving those with existing debt out of

Steve Jobs Led A Revolution
Steve Jobs led a revolution not only in technology, but in the history of the world, and the

too low to induce complementation. Second, there is difference in the expression pattern between
the two promoters in each cell due to epigenetic factors.

Europeans go, the English are not intellectual. They have a horror of abstract thought, they feel no

In the Efrafa warren, Bigwig tricks General Woundwort by making a plan where Bigwig takes
the rabbits who want to leave and runs away. Then a bird named Keehar scares away General
Woundwort and his guards. In the story it states, Out shot Rowsby Woof, bellowing like a bull,
land tore around the house. The man followed him at a run, leaving the door wide. Quick! said
El ahrairah. Quicker than Wogdog from the Tartar s bow! Come on! El ahrairah and Rabscuttle
dashed into the garden and disappeared through the laurels. In the field beyond they paused for a
moment. This when Rowsboy opened the gate and El ahrairah ran away. This is another example

Pathos, Logos, and Ethos in Advertising Essay
What captures the attention of people when they view an advertisement, commercial or poster?
Is it the colors, a captivating phrase or the people pictured? While these are some of the
elements often employed in advertising, we can look deeper and analyze the types of appeals
that are utilized to draw attention to certain advertisements. The persuasive methods used can be
classified into three modes. These modes are pathos, logos, and ethos. Pathos makes an appeal to
emotions, logos appeals to logic or reason and ethos makes an appeal of character or credibility.
Each appeal can give support to the message that is being promoted.

One anti smoking poster shows merely a pair of hands holding a revolver. Instead of bullets the
hands are using cigarettes to load the weapon. Listed in small print on one side of the poster are
numerous conditions that may be related to smoking, such as fatal heart attacks, emphysema,
cancer, and gum disease. The phrase Smoking kills... so why bother starting is printed in large
font at the bottom of the poster. The message of this poster is clear: Don t Smoke. The poster is
trying to portray that smoking is like holding a loaded weapon. Just as someone would be
endangering their life with the loaded gun, they would also be endangering their life with the use
of cigarettes. The consequences and health issues associated with smoking can be just as deadly as
those of the gun. Ultimately, if someone smokes they are putting their life at risk. Therefore, the
logical act is to never start smoking.
Finally, a poster from the Centers for Disease Control and the National Colorectal Cancer Research
Alliance features Katie Couric, a well known news broadcast personality, framing her face with her
hands. The question, Are you the picture of health? is printed on the left of the poster. Couric s
quote,

The Butterfly Circus And The Butterfly Circus
This essay is about what human dignity and how it relates to the butterfly circus. When it comes
to people and human dignity some people do not realise what it is. The butterfly circus is a circus
where human dignity what the circus is based on. People do what they want to they find the right
place to do it, and they do it at the butterfly circuswhere anyone can be anything, and they can be
themselves (who they truly are). In the butterfly circus, Mr Mendez says that the butterfly circus is
made up of people who haven t had much dignity in their lives (e.g. they get rejected from their
previous work (e.g. Circus) and they were left with nothing. Imagine if this happened to you.

Would you make other people have their dignity restored? Do you have dignity in you?
Lies are one of the major things in which affects this world of wonders, the young and old do it
even you do it yourself. Everyone tells lies every now and then, but if people believe in every lie
that is said to them then they would forward those lies onto other people. When Mr Mendez sees
the (freak) side show and once he arrives at Will s section (which has curtains covering him); the
things that the showman said about Will is horrifying and is a lie. Will believed everything that
the showman said; the showman said God himself has turned his back on him and this next thing
has been cursed since birth . No one should be expressed like that. When someone is expressed
like that it affects the victim and the victor; they both get a bad influence on each other. How often
do you tell lies? How often do you tell the truth?
When you think that human dignity is already in this world but when you think about all of the
bad things which are happening you realise that people aren t being treated the way that they
should be; people lie (about how their thinking), they think that everything is impossible because
of the lies, and the people who are treated the way they should are hoping to make others happier
and a difference to this world. If people get treated equally then bad

  • 2. The Transition Times. Graduation Is One Example Of A Time The Transition Times Graduation is one example of a time of celebration and honor. It is the reward you receive for multiple years of difficult work and perseverance. It is also an extremely bittersweet occasion because often times you are required to make difficult decisions. Decisions that could take you away from everyone and everything you have ever known. This is known as a timeof transition. Honestly, it seems a bit anticlimactic that after all the emotions and preparation you do beforehand is all summarized within a few short hours. This is how the majority of my fellow upcoming graduates are feeling right now, but I do not. I believe that in order to better understand these monumental occasions of transition, you must first... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During high school you form both positive and negative relationships with people and learn a various assortment of life lessons. If I challenged myself to choose my top three picks on what life lessons I have learned I would say freedom, responsibility, and tolerance. I say that I have learned the lesson of freedom simply owing to the fact that this was my first taste of freedom. When you receive your driver s license and car or you are able to date for the first time you feel the absolutely exhilarating unbridled feeling of freedom. This feeling blossoms and flourishes for only a moment, because then it has company. Freedom is joined by the always rational and logical emotion responsibility. Responsibility is like the notification that forces you to go home in time for your curfew or the friend you forces you to stop at the stop sign or to not drink and drive. When freedom and responsibility work together, you are safe and you also have a great time growing up. When the two emotions combine together your chances of living to adulthood increase dramatically. The last life lesson I chose is most definitely not the least important. I have become more tolerant of not only people and their decisions but also with circumstances. This was not only the most difficult lesson I have had to learn, but it is the lesson that I am most thankful for due to the fact that I know that I will use it more and more frequently as I enter into the real world . ... I can t imagine suffering such a devastating loss, and I thank my lucky stars for my kids healthy hearts. But Cora s motherKristine has turned her pain into a wonderful mission in her daughter s name: to raise awareness about CHD and how easily it can be detected. With Kristine and Cora s help, hopefully more CHDs will be caught and treated early, saving babies and children s lives. Another fact I learned from Cora is how easily many CHDs can be detected. A simple pulse oximetry test (aka pulse ox ) done 24 48 hours after birth in conjunction with a newborn exam can detect a large proportion of CHDs, with a low false positive rate. A pulse ox test is noninvasive and very simple: the reader is typically attached to the baby s toe and determines the oxygen saturation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As I mentioned, the test is completely non invasive and hospitals already have the equipment. Portable pulse ox readers are also available, which means both birth center and homebirth midwives could also easily carry them. Kristine is working on Cora s behalf to get laws passed nationwide mandating a pulse ox to be done on every newborn. I applaud her efforts and admire her strength at turning her pain into an effort to save lives. What can YOU do? Request this test for your own babies and tell the pregnant moms in your life to request it when their babies are born. Pass this information on, and tell others to pass it on too. Write your Congressman and your state representatives and tell them you want pulse ox testing to be mandatory for all newborns. You might just save a baby s life. *More information and ... • 6. Poetic Form Of The Shakespearan Sonnet A sonnet refers to a poetic form which originated in Italy. There are two kinds: the Petrarchan (Italian) and the Shakespearean (English). Both kinds still consist of fourteen lines written in iambic pentameters unstressed, then stressed syllables. The Italian form began with Francesco Petrarca. The Shakespearean form began with Thomas Wyatt and Earl of Surrey (Shelley, 2015). The sestet and octave have special functions in the Petrarchan sonnet. The sonnet is separated into an eight line stanza as well as a six line stanza. The first paragraph (with eight lines) is referred as an octave and follows the rhyme sequence: a b b a a b b a. Moving on, the second stanza (consisting of six lines) is called a sestet and follows one of these rhyme patterns: c d c d c d, c d e c d e, c d e c e d, c d c e d c, c d d c d c. This shape makes the sonnet a self sufficient form, open to shades of mood and tone. The final two lines cannot end in a couplet because the couplet was never used in Italy or by Petrarch. The Shakespearean Sonnet, or English Sonnet, is very different from the Petrarchan Sonnet. While the Shakespearean Sonnet consists of fourteen lines, just like the Petrarchan Sonnet, the lines are divided into different stanzas (Shelley, 2015). This sonnet is composed using three quatrains (three stanzas consisting of four lines each) and a concluding couplet (a two line stanza). The rhyme scheme of this sonnet is alternating, throughout the quatrains, and ends in a rhyming ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Success Of A Circle Time Successful Circle Time Circle time is one of the most fun and creative times of the school day. Preschool children, typically ages three to around six, are very hands one and mobile. They want to move about and explore things around them. For any teacher struggling with circle time and keeping the attention of their students I would suggest multiple tips on how to keep students engaged. One is to make circle timeinteractive and get the students involved in the circle time. An example would be giving each student a part in a song or a story to act out. Another suggestion would be to start each circle time with a song and dance so that students can release some of the energy that they have and be ready to focus during circle time. It is also a great idea to have students move around during circle time so they are not getting restless and moving in anyway they want (). Two very key things for circle time to be a success is to be consistent with circle time and have it daily so that students know what to expect. I have observed activities like reviewing the calendar, weather, and reading a short book. Finally, one must be aware and patient of the disturbances that will pop up during circle time. Know that students are all developing in different ways and not one is like the other. While one student may sit attentively for a prolonged period of time, another may not be at that point yet. Plan circle time around your students needs and it will be a very happy experience for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Knight Of Light By The Greenest Grass Chapter 1: The Knight of Light The Knight of Light Once upon a time, in a land far, far away, there was a small kingdom that had a sky of the bluest blue, and was surrounded by the greenest grass which was decorated by every flower you could imagine. Within this kingdom there was a village that was filled with happiness, and everyone who lived there was always smiling, for they loved their little village. They loved the blue skies, they loved the green grass that was decorated by every flower you could imagine, and they loved their kingdom. But what the villagers loved most was their beautiful queen. Alas, this was not the end of the Darkness s scheme. Once it was done with the village it swept into the queens pure white castle and into the bedchamber of the queen herself. The Darkness then snatched her up in its giant claw and dragged her out of the bedchamber. It dragged her out of the pure white castle, out of the village, and took her into the very depths of Hell themselves. After the queen was taken, the blue skies turned cloudy and grey, the pure white castle became ugly, and discoloured, and an eternal gloom settled upon the kingdom. From that moment on, none of the villagers could smile, for with their glowing queen stolen from them, what reason was there to smile? Days turned into weeks, weeks turned into months, months turned into years and years turned into centuries, and the kingdom remained the gloomy, grey ghost of the joy it had once celebrated. In that time the queen did not return, and any fool who was brave enough to try and look for her never came back. But then one day, after exactly one hundred years had passed since the Darkness came, a stranger came to the gloomy kingdom, and he was not like the sad, smile less villagers who lived there. No, this man was a knight! For he rode a white stallion and he wore a shining suit of armor, made out of the purest silver which shone like a finely cut jewel, with a ... • 11. Insanity And Detachment Of Order Melissa Ranieri Mrs. Sakotic ENG4U1 30 May 2017 Insanity and Detachment of Order Insanity is a field of behaviours characterized by abnormal mental or behavioural patterns. It may be apparent as violations of societal norms, including a person becoming a danger to themselves or others. In modern usage, insanity is mostly seen as a term implying mental instability. Insanity is a recurring theme in Timothy Findley s fictions. While he does not dispute its existence, the author brings into question its meaning and its role, as well as the values of the societies that seek to define it. In both cases, the theme of insanity creates a detachment of societal norms. Hooker s hint of insanity develops at the beginning of the book, when he goes on to describe the conditions in which he lives in, and goes on to state that his ...house was just on the outskirts of town, unlike the rest of the town s people. All through the house they closed doors and drew shades, they got dead quiet. That is how his father liked it after Jessie came home (Findley 9). This life of isolation has already given Hooker the incentive to detach from society, as he is constantly seen as a character that has trouble with understanding societal ideals. He is seen as a character who has been forced to detach from society when his mother Jessie comes home wanting to live in isolation after the miscarriage of her unborn child; therefore allowing some of his mothers negative behaviours about life to rub off on him. Through the characterization of Hooker, Findley explores the vice potential of such a subject, who becomes the servant of destruction of the social structures that produced him. In Julie Salem Wiseman s essay Insanity Begins at Home: Madness in the Family in Timothy Findley s Last of the Crazy People, she states that Findley creates a Laingian portrait of how a disordered and degenerate social reality of which the Winslows especially Hooker are an extreme representation produces subjects who have not only internalized the social pathology that has formed them but also use the ... We shall look at many major factors which triggered the downturn from a different spectrum such as high levels of unemployment, the cost of living, public spending interest rates and many more. Late 1970s and early 1980 s (1979 1983) was a turbulent period in the history of United Kingdom s economy. Britain welcomed their first female prime minister when they were facing major economic volatility. 80s was the phase when UK was facing cost push inflation like a lot of other countries around the world. The graph above demonstrates the enormous levels of unemployment during the early 1980s which put over three million people out of work in 1983 . I believe the strong decline of the trade union power in this phase resulted in deterioration of employment due to tight monetary policy with critical reasoning such as unions not having enough power to push up the wages and wage demands not meeting up to the point of ... • 13. Summary Of Ernest Hemingway sBig Two Hearted River Part 1 Response 1 Ernest Hemingway s Big Two Hearted River Part 1 appears as simple tale of a man going camping. It talks about his journey through a burnt area of land. He ultimately sets up camp, has some fond memories of a friend, and then he goes to sleep. However the story, in my opinion, has a much deeper meaning. Everything that happens in the story has a reason behind it being mentioned. Hemingway, I believe, shows Nick s growth through analogies that often fly over the reader s head, including the transition from the burnt town to the river, the river conditions, and the trouts movement in the river and the sooty appearance of the grasshoppers. Hemingway sets the location for the story as soon as Nick gets off the train There was no town, nothing but the rails and the burned over country. The thirteen saloons that had lined the one street of Seney had not left a trace ( 133). A town that was once booming with people had been burnt down. Why did Hemingway point out the destroyed town? It would appear that the focal point would be the town, but Hemingway quickly transitions into Nick going to a river. As the story says, Nick looked at the burned over stretch of hillside, where he had expected to find the scattered houses of the town and then walked down the railroad track to the bridge over the river. The river was there (133). He sets the reader up by talking about a once great town now being burnt to a crisp. The idea here is to have the reader thinking man, all these people have lost their home. Despite this, it is clear that the town being burnt down is not the most important thing. Hemingway could have easily told a story about the town; instead he quickly moved onto the river. The river is a very important and recurring piece of the story. When Hemingway says, Nick looked down into the clear, brown water, colored from the pebbly bottom (133), Notice how he talks about water being brown colored from the pebbles. It s clear that the water has changed due to the fire. Despite the changes, the fish were still doing just fine. Hemingway seems to drive home this point as he mentions, It was a long long time since Nick had looked into a stream and seen trout. They were very satisfactory. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The novel Raisin in the Sun and the circumstances of the Moulin Rouge Hotel Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, tell how racism destroyed dreams and crushed the soul through discrimination and lost opportunity. But there s another side to the racismstory. For some of the oppressed, discrimination and hardship will be fought with perseverance and achievement. In both the fictional Raisin in the Sun and the historical Moulin Rouge Casino, a black woman, against great odds, will achieve personal and historic success. Racism in America directed toward black peopleoriginated over 300 years ago with the first importation of black slaves into the America from Africa (Frederickson). While great progress in eliminating explicit racism has taken place, American society has far to go in ensuring that blacks have the same protections, advantages and freedoms as whites. Racial discrimination in this country continues to harm millions of black Americans whether it is through an inferior education, unfair treatment in the judicial and law enforcement systems or delivery of sub optimal health care. While the government can play a role in solving this problem with legislation, equitable law enforcement and national education, it will also take a recognition of the problem and then a focused, long term effort by generations of families to acknowledge and remove the many stumbling blocks of ... This movie is very deep and difficult to watch because it forces me reflect on how badly Africans and African Americans have been treated, but it also makes me proud that things are better. I believe that this movie is historically accurate because the portrayal of the conditions on the ship was as badly as they were during slavery. I feel this movie accurately depicts life as an African slave and how hard it is to let go of everything someone has learned and conform to a new identity. I believe the movie explains all points of perception from the slaves point of view to the slave owners to the capturers and even the captain of the ship s experience. How Hunger Is Detrimental Effects And Outcomes On Children Hunger is not only a threat to our nation s public health but it also threatens the physical and cognitive development of children in our community and their potential educational attainment ( Childhood, n.d., para. 1). This research paper will discuss various key topics on child hunger, beginning from a global health aspect and winding down to a local community aspect, which will place emphasis on Las Vegas. A literature review will be conducted on how hunger has detrimental effects and outcomes on children, including but not limited to: nutrition, learning, and education, and behavioral effects. Next, research will show what s currently being done about child hunger and what needs to be done in the future with focus on the prevalent hunger issues facing children in the Las Vegas community and how povertyand hunger in the United States contributes to the issue of child hunger. Examples of public health organizations, primarily Three Square, who are working towards the prevention of child hunger, will be given to demonstrate civic engagement in the Las Vegas community. From a global health perspective, world hunger is the want or scarcity of food in a country and connects to malnutrition, which is the lack of nutritional elements in a diet. Before beginning, it is essential to establish what the main goals of wars are; under the conditions that rapeis condoned. In some instances war is waged as a method of retaliation; such as the Soviet counterattack after the Nazi invasion of the Soviet Union; war can be used as an expression of victory or superiority in the case of Nazi Germany and its ideals of a pure Aryan race. This is in stark contrast to men who are illustrated as protectors of their nation s honour and as warriors; in retrospect, war is waged to humiliate and, in some cases, destroy the foundation of the opposing nation s society. Men, the primary defenders of their nation in hindsight are expendable, while they may die, their culture and society will live on through their women who will go on to transmit their genes and culture through the children they bear. Because women represent the three pillars of the home and not one; it is more efficient to target women, not only to demoralise the opposing enemy troops, but to consequently change the genetic make up and otherwise culture of the society the women live in. With college graduates now owing more than $1.5 trillion in debt and nearly five million Americans in student loan default, borrowing for higher education is quickly spiralling out of control. Universities are one of the best places for wholesome instruction, but what good are these institutions when no one can pay for their resources? In order to alleviate the problem, many politicians have proposed plans to make all public college tuition free for students under a set income threshold. Not all students at all colleges have troubles with debt, either. The majority of students who have problems paying off their student loans are those who attended small for profit schools or community colleges, as those who attend more expensive schools, despite borrowing more, often end up with higher salaries once they enter the job market.
