For the first shot of the video there is a dark green lighting
being projected on the camera where they are seen
coming down the stairs with the camera focusing on an
upwards shot. Then we have the camera pan up to focus
on a full body shot. There is a white light projecting on the
lead singers face because of the dark lighting surrounding
him. Camera keeps panning up on the various musicians
to have that full body shot while there is also a lot of fade
in and out between each shot. The lighting then becomes
a lot light because its during the day and it also the place
that they wanted to be. There's also a lot of first-person
perspectives in this music video as it can been seen when
they are going through the forests. In terms of color when
they enter the fountain the color tint of the camera turn to a
dark blue making the scenery. This music videos key
focus is fantasy as it focuses on a unrealistic moon in the
perfect place that they want to be in.
Song 2 – Blur
For this music video it plays with dark and white lighting
with it flashing in and out to resemble the hurricane that
they are in. lighting is done very well in this music video
with there being a lot of shadow casting over the lead
singers face to convey the misery that he is in and show the
public how powerful his lyrics are. In this music video they
used a fog machine to represent the hurricane that is
related to the lyrics of the song.its also conveying that
nature itself is trying to stop them from speaking the lyrics
of the meaning that they are trying to project into the song.
This music video also has a lot of head shots to put the the
emphasis more closely on what he is trying to convey with

6. On melancholy hill – Gorillaz
With the Gorillaz they have used the similar style
of drawings for all of their music videos with
these character being as iconic as the band. The
interesting thing about this video is the characters
are cartoon drawings but the props and the
location are real or are made to look like real
objects. Visually this music video is done really
well like the shots when the machine gun is being
fired. Its being fired so fast that the bullets are
flying everywhere and the video goes slow just so
the character isn’t going to fast, with it also
looking more action packed. The majority of this
video focuses on its tone of color with it being
setting in the sea but somewhere cold its got faint
white fog surrounding the characters in the
majority of the video.Give me a try – The Wombats
This music video is a lot more complicated than
the others as it has many different locations and
many different locations. In most of these shots
the characters are looking directly into the
camera but they are not braking the fourth wall
because they are looking into their own camera
for the dating app that they have signed
themselves up for. In most of these shots the
camera is panning forward to the character so
that the person who is going to date them can
really see what they look like. So there are a lot
of close up shots. But there is also a few long
shots so that the camera picks up the
characters full body to see if they are attractive

7. Born to run – Bruce Springsteen
This music video starts off with the camera spinning around
in a dizzy motion and then fades into a overlay image which
is projecting onto the crowd. With this music video there is a
lot of fast paced shots with it matching the speed of the song
and it also trying to be as interesting as possible with the
camera trying to pick up everything. When it’s just Bruce
singing there is a lot of fade in and out shots to different
angles of where the camera is pointing at Bruce. There is
also a shot where it’s a long wide shot and the camera pans
all the way from the audience to where Bruce is standing for
it to symbolize he's the center of the attention. Things that
differentiate that this is not any normal concert music video
is there are bit in the video where Bruce is singing but on the
video he clearly isn’t and there also is a different shots
where its filmed during the day as opposed to during the
night like the rest of music video. The ending finishes with
freeze frame with Bruce jumping up in the air.
The Underdog – Spoon
This music video also is based on a 2D cartoon animation,
but it isn’t similar to the on melancholy hill music video. As
its come across as rather old fashioned with it having a
similar type of animation that could be compared to Scooby
Doo. This music video focuses a lot more shadows with you
being able to see the outlines of the characters running in
the video but not the actual characters being present. Its
also more out of sync with what's going on. Like when
there’s a shot when a guy comes out of a pool, and then all
of a sudden the band start playing randomly across the
screen while moving diagonally across the screen. With it
being in that cartoon format i9t can get away with colorful
backgrounds and recycled images that they designed in a

5 opportunities of your ideas
1. The main opportunity if it would be possible is to be able to use the
green screen and be able to professionally edit the images into the
background of those images on photoshop for the video. This would
be a brilliant opportunity as it would introduce me to the world of
green screen and will really test my skills with Photoshop.
2. Another opportunity that would be great is to use a professional light
machine. If I could order one online for this project that would be
great.
3. I would also like the opportunity of including around 10-15 extras in
my music video as it will be a brilliant recreation of the dance scene
in Peter Gabriel sledgehammer music video, which is what I'm basing
this music video on.
4. Another opportunity I would like to have is to experiment with the
lighting, even though you can turn the lighting up on the lights in the
studio room. I would like to bring my own lights as there’s is a shot
where it goes really bright.

inside as it will look to boring.

5 restrictions to your ideas
1. The main restriction is the usage of props that will be used in the
music video, with the original sledgehammer music video being
more reliant on the green screen usage and not the props or
anything that he could add to the filming of the music video.
2. Another restriction to this music video is too not include much
dark lighting. even though my opening and closing shots will be
set in the dark the rest of the music video will have bright
lighting as it’s a joyful Christmas music video.
3. I would also add that another restriction would be using too
much of the same thing in the music video, with the props on the
green screen to not be to repetitive.
4. Time can also be counted as a restriction with the music video
sledgehammer taking half a year to get filmed, so due to me not
having the same budget and time this can also be counted as a
restriction that its not going to be as good.
5. The last restriction that I want to add is that if I am going to be
doing any outdoor shots that don’t have any relation to the

The little drummer boy is a Christmas song about a poor young boy who is
summoned by the magi (three wise men) to the nativity of Jesus. When the
little drummer boy gets to the stables he doesn’t have any gifts for baby
Jesus, unlike the three wise men. So he decides to play some music on his
drum with the approval of Mary, Jesus’s mother. They make the little drummer
boy a really meaningful song with some of the lyrics like “I played my best for
him” and “he smiled for me”, correlating to the fact that when he was playing
the song it sounded great.
Duration:
The Pentatonix cover is 04:14 and the David Bowie/Bing Crosby cover is
03:12 with the both of them being quite slow songs. The remix ill be doing
will be around the same duration of time.

For my music video its going to be in a similar style Sledgehammer
which was a music video in the 80’s by Peter Gabriel which focuses on
stop motion. In the music video there are various objects such as a
sledgehammer and fruit. But my idea will be for a Christmas advert so
it will be replaced with a Christmas theme style of images and props. I
think this will be good for marketing and the season era approaching
soon.
This music video will consist of a lot of close up shots so you can see
the facial expressions in the video that I'm trying to convey. While the
song the little drummer boy it has meaning the music video doesn’t.
So the facial expressions I am pulling are reliant on the expectations
of entertainment for the regular audience viewer. The genre
conventions I'm aiming for is for something seasonal for the
Christmas aspects that will be featured in the video.

Unlike previous projects of mine I don’t need a
specific location a most of it is filmed with me
being in front of a green screen. There will be
different shot where I'm in a dark room, and there
a various lights being showed across the room
with there being a white light projected on my
face, so that my face is covered with the
darkness. Then I'm planning to do seventeen
different shots but ill do it at home instead of the
studio as it requires a lot of my clothes and a
candle. It will be a lot easier if I filmed these
shots at home, so I’ll do it for the second half of
the day. It won't take me long to travel from
college to my house so there won't be that much

I’ll also hire out a tripod for it to hold the
camera while I lay under it, in order to
get the headshots.

For editing the greenscreen of the

Adobe Photoshop, as its easy to use and is
a professional software. When It comes to
editing my music video and remixing the

and outside of college on my computer, so
it will be easy to access whenever I need to

With the costume scene will change
into several t-shirts, jumpers, and
jeans. Each shot will be played in a
sequence in the music video to make
it look like a video of me changing my
clothes really fast. The idea has been
inspired by the original
sledgehammer video with him doing
something similar to it.
I will also be using a candle that I will
be lit for the couple of shots that I'm
going to have in the dark. I will also
be using a pair of red boxing gloves
in one shot where I get hit in the
cheeks by them. The purpose of me
getting punched by these boxing
gloves is so it shows that I am getting
punched back into reality.

VIDEO- Most of the video focuses on green screen, so the shots that
aren’t green screen are the most interesting. I think visually the
candle shots that will in the dark at the beginning and the end will
be the best. As they are the most natural and are the only shots in
the video that aren’t going to have any of the music in.
- Another key moment that is in this music video is the clothing
shots that will appear in the video. I think these shots will work
really well, as they are going to be loads of photos, that will be put
together in a fast moving sequence. So it looks like my clothes will
be changing really fast.
- I would also pick the light machine shots that I will be using in
the music video. I picked these shots as I think they work well with
the music in the music video as a whole. These shots will include
the lights facing a blank black wall, to convey that mysterious void
look and one shot where the lights are pointing at my face to show
that artistic style.
