The target audience for Rudimental's "Feel The Love" music video is likely those aged 10 and up, as there is no inappropriate content. The lyrics represent the characters' carefree lifestyle with their friends and horses. The tempo starts slow and builds throughout the song. The genre could be described as drum and bass, rock, or R&B. The camera work uses various shots including panning, close-ups, and shots from a helicopter to showcase the landscape and location. Music video analysis red chart (2) rudimental feel the love
1. Music Video Analysis
Comment on the following aspects in relation to your music video choice. Rudimental- Feel The Love
How will these techniques appeal to the target audience needs?
Target Audience &
needs The target audience for this music video I reckon it’s for any age preferably 10+ as there is no violence , drugs or anything bad that
could impact on someone at a younger age. The music its self is a fast load and a lot off bass is used throughout the video, due to
the type of music put in with the video I don’t think older people would enjoy that style of music as like teens or mid age people
would do.
Lyrics
The lyrics to the music I think represent the kids loving there life of being free and having fun, because they’re all laughing and
smiling as they race round the town on horses. And like they all take care of each other as well as their horses. “I know I said its
true, I can feel the love can you feel it to.” Is the main lyric during the video I think this means that they are all family and friends
who spend every day with each other and love one another. Other than that one lyric I don’t think any of the other lyrics relate
that much to the actual video.
Tempo
The tempo starts of smooth and slow whilst the vocals joins in, the vocalist sings one chorus repeatedly as the tempo and beats
pick up speed and starts to get louder. At 1.05 seconds into the song the bass drops and the tempo gets faster and louder it does
this for around another minute when it reaches around midway of the song a little saxophone solo starts and goes into a quiet
break to sooth the song out for the next drop shortly after that.
Genre
The genre of music could come under a few in my opinion I think it’s more drum and bass as the tempo is rapid and loud and uses
a lot of drum and bass. Although the artist has played a few rock festivals e.g. Download Festival so many people may consider it as
being under a rock type of song. It also could come under R&B when I’ve heard there music being played on R&B radio stations in
the past.
2. Music Video Analysis
Camera Technique
There are different types of camera work used during the video mostly panning shots and close up shots, zooming in and out on
the characters to introduce them to the video. I think the camera work works well with the video as they film a lot of landscape to
show the surroundings and where the video is taken place, they also use a helicopter camera to get above shots and far but high
distance shots.
Editing
The editing throughout the video they used a lot of quick clips switching between each shot to visualize the key aspects of the
video e.g. the characters, the place, time of day and time of year which makes it more understandable when watching the video.
Other than that I couldn’t make out much editing probably they would have edited the lighting, sound and the smoothness of the
camera work but other than that I couldn’t make out a lot of recognizable editing.
Use of digital effects
I couldn’t see many digital effects used during the video as I think they kept it as natural and real lifestyle as possible. Although I
reckon they might have used digital effects to boost up the lighting and maybe the sounds in the background or even the voice of
the character so it’s not hard to hear what they are saying during the video.
