Tame Impala-
Elephant
• The song doesn’t fade in but starts straight away with no
diegetic sound
• At the end the song suddenly ends with no fade out however
the video carries on for a few more seconds
• The music video has around 125 cuts, this is hard to count as
many of the scenes fade in and out, however it is typical of an
indie music video to have lots of cuts this can be because
many indie artists are in bands, they have to show more
people.
• Bands name comes at up the beginning this promotes them and
makes sure that when people watch the video they know their
name.
• A bright rainbow filter is put over most of the scenes, they are also
used to fade scenes out and bring different ones in.
• A kaleidoscope effect is also used meaning that the image can be
seen multiple times next to each other, because of this and with
the colours it disorientate you while watching it.
• Most of the shots used are mid or long this lets the
audience see more of whats happening in the background.
However there are some close up shots to focus more on
the band but as it is a band they are usually seen all
together or just the lead singer.
• The camera focuses on the band but there are some shots
that are landscape based such as a sunset and clouds this
is stereotypical of an indie music videos.
• There is no narrative in this music video but focuses on
the band play and singing instead this is stereotypical for a
indie boy band. There are also no costume changes for
the band, this is also because there is no narrative as
there is no story behind the video.
• The video is also low lit however with all the filter over it
this is not as noticeable but can be seen in some scenes,
this gives it a look that its done in the bands practise
space instead of a thought about video.
