2. The music video has been changed to square dimensions this leaves black
bars either size of the video when watching on youtube, on other Allah-las
music videos they do the same thing by having it a different size.
White and orange line at the side; similar to what you get at the end of a film
camera, this takes the audience back to when they would use a film camera.
3. Grainy filter; giving the music video an older feel like a home video. From other indie
music videos that I have deconstructed I found that they also use a filter similar to this
on, this is because they know that the demographic of people that are targeted
watched this type of video.
The longer takes are edited to follow the pace of the song, this means that its more
relaxed and the audience see the artists and relate themselves to them. The audience
then become connected to the band and feel more like they are friends with the band
rather than just onlookers.
4. Multiple shots in the same place unlike others which change settings quickly,
this gives the audience a moment to look around at the shot and take in what
is being shown.
Smoother editing as the shots are longer, the video seems more relaxed
reflecting on the slower song, also the use of smoother editing makes the
video seem more fluent and makes it flow from shot to shot and making it
feel more realistic and immersive.
5. There is some mise en scene towards the end of the music video where it’s
the same man climbing up a tree house.
The song “catamaran” is the only sound heard throughout the video, no
diegetic sound is heard throughout the piece.
From this music video I would like to imitate the filter used this is because I
am using a similar song, by using a similar filter it immediately lets the
audience know the type of genre and the type of themes and lyrics they can
expect.
